@@NinjaNovice I'm sure you heard of distance selling regulations. When you buy something online, you can send it back within a given timeframe. I took advantage of that while i lived in the UK. Got the pieces i wanted, had them for a few days or a week, and sent them back. Unworn of course, but having the watch for a week, you can fully assess and decide if it does it for you. I sold my first ever "proper" watch a 2225.80 seamaster chrono to buy a ceramic no date sub. Back then in 2015 the no date subs were going for 4500 GBP in the second hand market. Sold my seamaster chrono for 2k and got the sub for 4.5k. It was straight up obvious once i had the watch that it wasn't worth double the price. It wasn't higher quality, better built, more robust than the omega. Hulk was the same thing, didn't feel like it was worth it, didn't deliver much for the money for me. And i don't keep things i buy, unless 100 percent happy for them.
@NinjaNovice usually when you buy from Chrono24 and most other gray market dealers you have a window after you receive the watch to return it minus shipping. It's a really common practice.
So you bought a watch for $6K from the best selling Swiss Watch company in the world And could’ve sold it for $28-35K 4 years later . And even now still sell it for $18-19K ! What else did you buy since then that gave you a 300-500% ROI ?you basically gave away $25-30K 😂
Just a comment in regards to the Crown in the crystal. On the authentic crystal, the Crown is lasered within the Saphire. On the replica crystal, the Crown is lasered on Surface of the Saphire. Thats why the Crown is easier to spot on the replica.
Thank you for not demonizing replicas, and simply sticking to the facts. Now I do not condone the manufacture or sale of unlicensed replica's, and of course fraud is fraud. But I feel like those two things are conflated way to often: creating and selling a replica with full disclosure is not fraud: it is simply trademark violation, and I am aware of no replica factories that try to pass off their replicas as real. As for the people who wear them, I still hold that the practice is effectively identical to wearing a close homage (or clomage). I guarantee you the likes of Rolex or Omega have never lost a single dollar to the illegal replica market as, no one who bought a replica did so in lieu of buying a real one, and no one who is going to buy a real one, would ever buy a replica instead. So the end result of a clomage or a replica is effectively the same: you are wearing a watch designed to look like something else.
I wouldn’t assume, plenty of folks buy reps and own gens. When it’s not even noticeable why bother paying unless you’re trying to buy your own emotional gratification
@@LawryBoyer In your response, you switched from consumers who buy BOTH reps and genuine, to the consumer who buys the rep INSTEAD of the genuine. Which is it? In the case of the former, I do agree that genuine owners sometimes do buy the rep of their own watch, as a beater... but that does not contradict my point, as it did not affect the sale of the genuine. My point is that no one who was ever going to buy a genuine, chose to buy a rep instead. I maintain that is a category of consumer that does not exist, and anyone who suggests they bought a rep INSTEAD of a genuine that they were totally going to buy before they discovered the rep, is lying: they were never actually going to buy the genuine. This is because if you are the type of person who thinks buying a fake watch for $500 to save on buying the $5000 version is a good route, then you were never REALLY in the market to buy the $5000 genuine, no matter what you tell yourself. As for you final question, you sort of proved my point: Anyone who thinks it is silly to "bother" paying for the genuine if the fake is not noticeable, was never going to buy the genuine. But answer that question, it is because we realize that fake would not exist without all the time, effort, design, marketing, and, most importantly, financial success of the genuine, and we respect that. We understand that in order for the watch world to bring us world class watches so popular that they are faked, we need to actually support that business, else we run into another quartz crisis.
@@herewegoagain... first point about “never going to buy gen” seems like semantics or trying to rationalize people’s behaviors. Not everyone thinks like you or me. Some might buy a rep first to see if they would like gen and realize that they don’t need to spend the money if it scratches the itch. There are also plenty of folks on reddit that I know buy both rep and gen without discrimination. Making sweeping statements about human behavior just serves to presume you know how everyone thinks and I think that’s short sighted even if you might understand how many people think. Re second point I agree, reps piggyback off the success of the gen. But it’s more than just buying fake status for *some* rep buyers. If it was just status you’d only see reps or Rolex and AP but some appreciate but cannot afford design which admittedly most homage makers don’t nail quite so well as rep factories. If you love the look of a zenith for example you could buy the rep. Only a design and watch enthusiast would bother spending money on that I’d think. And innovation will continue to happen and if anything, replicas should push original innovation not stifle it. Any brand that doesn’t is lazy or too comfortable with their own success
@@LawryBoyer 1. This is not an issue of semantics. You and I will have to agree to disagree here, because I do not believe the consumer who "buys a rep first to see if they would like gen and realize that they don’t need to spend the money if it scratches the itch" was NEVER going to buy a gen. Period. I defy you to find me even one person that was legitimately on their way to buying a Rolex, and then bought a rep in lieu of the gen. I do not believe that person was ever going to truly buy the gen in the first place, because buying a gen is about much more than just the look, and if the look is ALL you care about, ya, you were never going to spend the extra anyway. 2. I never said all rep buyers are faking status. I said all rep buyers are buying a look designed by someone else, because they like that original design. I would actually guess most rep buyers (at least in America) are the latter, and generally do not flaunt their rep as real for status. As for your comments on reps pushing design, I'm sorry, but that is nonsense. Look, if you want a rep, cool. I really don't care. I do not condone illegal activity, but as I mentioned, I also think full disclosure reps are a victimless crime: no one is losing money there. But don't try and make up some nonsense about reps pushing the watch industry forward; that is just total unfounded conjecture, and, frankly, wishful thinking. Gen and rep manufacturers have a one way relationship: the latter depends on the former for designs and marketing to push their own copies... the former is simply annoyed by the latter.
@@herewegoagain... to the last point, perhaps it’s a stretch but I don’t think it’s wholly unconnected at least for consumers. The best example I think of is spring drive. Sure they didn’t come up with it as an anti-piracy technology, but there have been no successful reps that can replicate that movement technology, which simply adds to the appeal and price justification for many grand seiko enthusiasts
The biggest tell for most reps is the feel when winding the watch, and the sound of winding. For this reason, a lot of people who buy reps send them for service immediately after purchase. After a clean and an oiling, they feel & sound like the real thing, or so close to it that 99.9% of people would never know the difference. The newest 3135 clone movements are parts-compatible with gen movements. It's a little scary how good the rep makers have gotten.
Just aliexpress. The watch in the ad will typically have no brand, but they say they can "customize" it for you. Guess what the default customization is? The watches there aren't typically AAA clones, but I don't think the one Jenni showed was either.
I think you’re right about the etched crown at 6 o’clock. The fakers DO seem to be making it just a little more pronounced. I handled a fake where the etched crown was pretty visible with the naked eye, and without effort. And the first thing the guy selling it said was “you can see the crown etched at 6”. It was a decent clone. Rehaut lettering didn’t perfectly line up to minute markers so that was a good indicator of it being fake. But if people can easily see the etched crown, an amateur could easily see and accept it as being authentic.
Superclones have only exposed how overpriced genuine watches are these days. I’ll take a 98% accurate rep to the original for $500-$700 instead of $17k or more for a genuine. For that much I can fill up an entire case of the best clones of every brand watch/model I want.
Great video. I enjoyed it so much i subscribed. Great info to keep scammers at bay. Just a curiosity, what do you do with the clones after you buy them? Are they destroyed, resold? What happens to them.
This particular clone is either from the Clean or VSF factory. They are both very good clones and the movements too. The GMT clones are excellent also. The Subs are around $300 and GMT $400 so really good value if you don’t want to spend $10-$15k !
its a real watch it does everything a real watch does, its essentially showing that a rolex can also be built and sold for a fraction of what they sell for. When the fake is that close you need an expert with an original watch next to the fake to pick the difference you know you're paying too much for the original.
Scary. One refinish and they’re identical. As for the font, that is even more negligible since it is done by hand and even an authentic Rolex can have a lighter font - depending upon when the ink was dipped. I have two 14060M’s with different font width yet the same year.
I have bought the watch for a year now. It is great. I paid a lot for it. It keeps good time and is waterproof. If you need the website I can check the records.
Be realistic, in your daily life, how many people would examine your watch with a magnifier? The only reason you might want to buy a genuine Rolex is it's good resale value. But again, if you use that money to buy gold bullion, it's an even better investment!
People buy a Rolex or really any high end product as a trophy to their achievements. So it's more about you cheating yourself with a fake rather than lying to others. 99% of people around you won't even know or care for what's on your wrist. The only time I think a replica might slightly make sense is if you own a real one and use the replica when traveling so if it's damaged, lost or stolen you wouldn't be down a real watch.

All these differences except the bezel action and crown movement resistance can be easily written off as production tolerances, and there are super clones out there that got these right. The shade of green on the bezel also varies through out different production years, I’ve seen hulks with different shades of green bezels both be successfully authenticated in RSC.
@@kitrog7428 in the rehaut section she deliberately doesn't show the minute indicators because its clear a day through the rest of the shots they don't line up, at 7:10 she says "everything is aligned and that would not be a tell". I've owned several genuine Rolex subs (purchased new from AD) and they have had some play in the bezel. For some reason a lot of people are in some kind of illussion that Rolexes don't have play in their bezels. They do, but less than cheaper brands (and some replicas even though I've never bought one).
There is 120 clicks in a full rotation, IE 2 per second of spacing. Clearly if you move it less than half a second forward, you can move it back. That is just physics.
@@michaelnissen3556 you have layman's misconception about Rolex or any other genuine watch manufacturer; not every single watch they made are of perfect quality, some are just good enough within their quality tolerance limit
For me it's about the way a watch makes me feel. I wouldn't get any pleasure from wearing a fake. I would much prefer a real Longines over a fake Rolex. I suppose they're only good if you are trying to "impress" other people.
I used to be in the same boat until I asked myself “does the price of the watch make me feel any better?”. I quickly realized the answer was no. I like the way watches make me feel because I like how they look and how they act as an extension of my personal expression and style. I get as much joy wearing a timex expedition, as I do a genuine omega aquaterra, as I do wearing a replica green patek phillipe nautilus 5711. I don’t like the fact that a watch I think is gorgeous should only be accessible to people who can spend $400k on a watch… I know not everyone will agree with this take, but I thought I would share my evolution in this watch game.
Why do you feel better about a real Rolex? If you like the Rolex design, isn’t that the part that makes you feel positive about the watch? It’s a bit confusing. If you like the design of the real Longines more than you like the design of the fake Rolex, why buy a real Rolex.?And if you like the design of the fake Rolex better, why buy a Longines? Here’s a hypothetical: what if a fake Longines has a better movement and better finishing than a real Longines, would you prefer the real watch even though it’s inferior? I don’t buy fake watches because I don’t want to support criminals, but a fake Rolex would not make me feel different. I would buy a replica that omitted the word Rolex, sure if it’s an exact replica otherwise, the design would be stolen, but since Rolex makes it so difficult to buy their watches, I would not feel guilty about that.
@@ams914I can and I do. I have both, fake and gen. How can you possibly think you speak for anyone other than yourself? I have a cheap fake 116613LN on right now, I enjoy it no more or less than my Christopher Ward C63 Sealander GMT.

The laser engraved crown is always more legible on the replicas. The faint nature of the authentic is by design, as I am not aware of any replica that has managed to accurately copy such a faint engraving. Still a tell as, if you can easily see it, it's a fake.
"To each their own. Who am I to judge?" Collecting watches should be about making friends and having fun, not about getting ripped off. I have a friend who knows nothing about fake watches. He doesn't even know that there is such a thing. But he knows that Rolex has an excellent reputation. Bubbling with excitement he showed me the "Rolex" he bought for his wife's birthday. It was an obvious counterfeit. I didn't have the heart to tell him that he was swindled. How can you not see the damage in this?
Can you share the link so I know where to avoid when buying a Rolex online? I want to ensure I'm NOT going to get this nearly perfect, imperceivably different clone for only $600. Thanks so much!
$600 is also far too much for this watch. A rep of this quality is at most a $400 watch. For a little over $500 the quality is even better, and uses 904L steel.
@@IanHobday I was gonna say this is a cheap clone. Some subs come from some factories in NWBIG conditions. She seemed a bit deflated the whole video knowing that an entry level clone was this good.
I noticed that the paper on the date wheel of authentic Rolex submariners is textured and almost has a lumpy look to it. A bit like the texture of a snake egg.
Rolex has different batches when coming to dial printing and date wheel printing, and they do differ from batches to batches, so sometimes one to one comparison does not prove anything
I own a AAA Hulk (£140) and a Clone (£300) Yachtmaster rose gold. They're amazing. No play/slop on the dial, keep time 10sec+/- per day and have a power reserve of almost 50hrs. The clasps on both are a little too sharp on the corners but apart from that they're lovely watches
I believe I had read most believe that Rolex specifically makes the laser engraved crown difficult to search because that is what makes it authentic - the different angles when engraving, etc. If it's difficult to find, it's probably real lol.
Controversial take... I have zero problems with replicas so long as you actually own the original version also and don't attempt to resell the replica...
I own a pretty blue collar business and do enjoy working out in the back with my guys a few days a week. Those days, I wear my replica because I don't want to damage my authentic sub when cutting metal or welding or whatever. If I'm in my office doing the boring shit, I'll wear my real one.
The fact that a replica shop can get 98% of the way there for one twentieth of the price, should be embarrassing for Rolex. I realize material cost and labor factor into it and the in-house movement is a beast but the ETA clones that go in these aren't any less reliable or accurate when calibrated).
More interestingly, a bigger challenge - a worn, used, repolished authentic vs a replica. Without super macro cameras, how easy is it to tell? Would you be able to tell if the person opposite or beside u was wearing the replica?
These fakes are getting so much better that I'd be hesitant to buy on the gray market going forward.

I bought a hulk in 2017 for 6k and sent it back after a week, as it didn't feel like it was worth the money. Superclones make one point very clear and right....gen rolexes ain't worth their prices. Does it make me want a replica? No. But facts are facts.
When a Rolex can be passed down to another generation, still work, and can get serviced.....for some, it is more than worth the money. Bought a Rolex, and then sent it back?....lol, like where the hell did you buy it? Where did you "send" if back to? I'm curious. Full refund? Bro stop.
@@NinjaNovicedude replicas are watches .. they could be services / movement swap etc.. my dad has 20 old replica whuch still works 😂😂
@NinjaNovice usually when you buy from Chrono24 and most other gray market dealers you have a window after you receive the watch to return it minus shipping. It's a really common practice.
So you bought a watch for $6K from the best selling Swiss Watch company in the world
And could’ve sold it for $28-35K 4 years later . And even now still sell it for $18-19K !
What else did you buy since then that gave you a 300-500% ROI ?you basically gave away $25-30K 😂
Surprised we didn't get to see the movement of the replica
Movement is almost as good, unless you are a watchmaker or in the business, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference

Just a comment in regards to the Crown in the crystal. On the authentic crystal, the Crown is lasered within the Saphire. On the replica crystal, the Crown is lasered on Surface of the Saphire. Thats why the Crown is easier to spot on the replica.
Replica actually looks amazing.

A major difference is the sound, the fake movement is way louder when it's running. Great video!

If you bought a Rolex secondary market two years ago, you're now down a lot more than the cost of any replica !
People buy a Rolex or really any high end product as a trophy to their achievements. So it's more about you cheating yourself with a fake rather than lying to others. 99% of people around you won't even know or care for what's on your wrist.

All these differences except the bezel action and crown movement resistance can be easily written off as production tolerances, and there are super clones out there that got these right.
The shade of green on the bezel also varies through out different production years, I’ve seen hulks with different shades of green bezels both be successfully authenticated in RSC.

The fake not so much bad
I have a sub bought this year at the Rolex dealer. It’s awesome but people keep discussing the fact that should be no play in the bezel at all and mine does seem to move back slightly after I rotate it. I have to admits to being worried!
