The "double oval" in the laser edged crown was there before in some models - it actually identifies the AR coating used in the crystal or if the crystal isa service crystal. Anyhow - oduble oval means the crystal has AR coating. As Rolex finally started applying that to the sports and divers models too.
I've always wondered how counterfeit companies are allowed to operate in the countries they're made in i.e China, Turkey? Is there no regard for international law, copyright and trademark infringement. Can't rolex go to the authorities of these countries and through legal process have these counterfeiters shut down? Can someone explain this?
China is a different animal when it comes to intellectual property theft. It's really a way of life there and they don't look at it the same way we do. There's an entire underground economy with shopping malls that knowingly sell knock off merchandise. Millions of people from factories, sellers, middlemen and local law enforcement earn a living on the "black market". The genuine factories do complain so once in a while they will conduct raids and arrest a few people but it's really just for show to look like they are taking it seriously. Things will slow down for a bit but then it's back to business until the next raid.
The Chinese economy is run like the Mafia. They will happily ignore intellectual property laws as long as the counterfeiting company kicks something upstairs to the corrupt commies that run the state.
Chinese law (and, no mistake, the all-powerful Chinese Communist Party) encourages IP theft from foreign entities. It is counterfeiter's heaven (but only if you are a Chicom or approved foreign entity).

The bezel insert on the fake is cleaner and more crisp. Also the red blue transition is better. The latter always looks very blurred and near black on a real Rolex. The best rolex is a real rolex with a fake bezel insert.
You said the counterfeiters have an example of a real watch and presumably they have counterfeit ones. So can’t they already see the parts of the watch you’re concealing? In fact by hiding them, it seems like all you’re doing is giving them a map of areas that you use to conduct authentications.
5:03 The issue with this is that a consumer doesn’t have access to powerful magnifying lenses to pick up some of these inconsistencies at the store. So,if you guys can tell the viewers how to identify them without those tools, then that would be helpful. Thanks.
One factual error here. Rolex do in fact manufacture all their own movements. It's true that historically (in the 1930s), they used to source all their movements from an external supplier called Aegler, (a company that specialized in watch movements), which had a longstanding partnership with Rolex and the status of being Rolex’s exclusive supplier of movements. However Rolex eventually acquired Aegler, which then became part of Rolex’s manufacturing structure. And since then, Rolex has produced its own movements in-house. One exception to this however was in 1988 to 2000, when Rolex used Zenith's "El Primero" movement for one of its models: the Rolex Daytona chronograph. Zenith were renowned for their high-frequency chronograph movements. Rolex did however make significant modifications to it, before installing it in the Daytona, by slowing down its frequency from 36,000 vibrations per hour (vph) to 28,800 vph in order to increase the movement's durability and service interval. Rolex also modified or replaced more than half of the original components in the movement in order to meet their stringent quality standards. This modified movement was called the Rolex Caliber 4030. It was used in the Daytona until around 2000, when Rolex introduced its first fully in-house chronograph movement, the Caliber 4130, which it has used in the Daytona ever since. So, while Rolex did source movements from Zenith for the Daytona model during that period, the majority of Rolex’s other movements, including those for their time-only and date models, were produced in-house. The transition to fully in-house movements across all models was completed when Rolex introduced the Caliber 4130 in the Daytona, marking the end of its reliance on Zenith for movements. Rolex today as a company that's well known for its vertical integration, which means that they control almost every stage of production, including movements, cases, bracelets, and dials. This level of in-house production is rare among watch brands and is one of the reasons why Rolex is so respected in the industry.

Sadly there are a couple of areas at least, where the counterfeit is better finished, such as more finished, polished look of the cyclops and the cleaner shape of the rehaut printing.
The Rolex letters on the réhaut are misaligned with the indices on the real one... DF.... Hard to believe that at least 4 people at Rolex missed that:
1- The one-week-in trainee that installed it in the first place between 2 meme posts on Instagram.
2- The 1st QC person let it pass before having a sip of Pepsi during his/her lunch break.
3- The Final QC person also let it pass because he/she prefers the look of the Batman bezel anyways.
4- The people at the Rolex AD were too busy laughing at the trainee's memes on IG.

Does anyone know if the eBay authentication takes off the case back? They say they “look at the movement.” I have come across anecdotes where people say their purchases were flagged for a fake rotor or some other interior part. I’m looking at Subs on eBay but I’m afraid of winding up with a Franken-watch. It’s been hard to find a definite answer.
I forgot the name of it but the letters lining up with the minute markers was the giveaway for me when shown the side by side. The Xs always seem to be off centre
How soon until a fake can be identified by keeping better time than Rolex and the fit and finish is better than the original
Won't happen at the price they charge
No one buys a Rolex or similar automatic watch because they keep the best time in the world. Your phone keeps better time than any automatic watch ever made.
BOTH are good quality pieces, very well made.
Maybe it’s the camera angle at 5:05 but that crown definitely doesn’t look centered on the 12 o clock marker.
No way it’s the angle otherwise the 12 marker would have been angled too. I was shocked as well
The "double oval" in the laser edged crown was there before in some models - it actually identifies the AR coating used in the crystal or if the crystal isa service crystal.
They do actually shut down these factories but one just pops up again.
its useless, you shut one down, they'll pop up in a week under a different name
Chinese law (and, no mistake, the all-powerful Chinese Communist Party) encourages IP theft from foreign entities.
It is counterfeiter's heaven (but only if you are a Chicom or approved foreign entity).

Where can I get one of the super clones?
How have these fakes that go for $800 - $1500 gotten so good that the local AD and his watch repair guy were even fooled by one that was purchased from Shengzhen, China? This also had a fake box and NFC chip card that actually brought up the correct Rolex page.
Damn they're repping the NFC chip too?? Need to get one of these "fakes" honestly.
Nobody would be able to rell the difference but you would always know.i guess it depends how that makes you feel.
I don't care what anyone else thinks. I'm not here to trick other people. I care about what I think. Knowing I'm wearing a $600 Chinese knock off will mean I'm a fake person pretending to be someone I'm not. I don't do anything fake in life and I don't wear anything fake in life. All the fake mfers out there can keep being fake with their little 600 dollar Chinese knock offs 😂. In the end, they know that they've achieved nothing in life and when they look down at their wrist, it will be a reminder of their failure.
I wouldn't be happy knowing it's fake and it'll feel like less of an achievement and more of a facade. seems like half the ppl in the comments don't care though

The real one has an finer/thiner/smoother and better executed brushing and the light reflection is more uniform on all parts. Can't wait for the next one !
you can also tell the bracelet clasp. the fake clasp has a very round edges on the clasp while the real one is very sharp and you can feel it. at 6:14 you can tell by the pics on the real one is very sharp while fake is very dull edges.

Luxury watch industry is just putrid from the genuine "AD" retailers not wanting to sell you the real deal to the fakes that sprouted partly because of the said artificial scarcity and the fact that you have to literally go microscopic and open the back to see if its real or fake just makes for a messy combination ... Great information ✌️👍 but too fast
Scary as you haven’t even used the best Pepsi rep out there… I’ve seen “franken” watches which are super clone based with real parts. Should make a video on one of those
1. charge more for the clone to improve QC. 2. hire a few people from the real game to provide you with all of the tricks. my gut tells me in the next few years, it will be even more difficult to spot a fake. before it was about producing the cheapest. now it's about producing the exact same for 80% less.
A person that want a real Rolex will inevitably get one and will actually wait it out. Someone that aim to get a fake will do just that. These two market will never overlap..as if some guy waiting 3 years and haven't gotten his Explorer will start seeking the Chinese for a super clone.
You’re daft if you think people don’t own rep and gen.
Years ago I would never have bought fake however recently I have done and when you realise and compare both "hight quality luxury" and "fake" like I have done, you tend to feel scammed as the product and materials are exact the same *amzclothes*
The immediate tell for me was that the date window on the left watch looked wrong. Too much magnification and not quite the correct font.
A variation of .2 of a mm between watches?
A KUKA KRC1 1.5 ton industrial robot made 25 years ago has the same accuracy
epeatability in 6 axis over 5.4 metres not 12 to 15 millimetres of watch case size.
I immediately noticed the Rolex fonts being off.
5:01 I noticed on the real one, the fonts on the rehaut will glow brighter under the UV light
I got it correct because the magnification on the fake watch was off. Also the glass edging on the fake was too wide compared to a real Rolex. I wonder if the X line up and if the laser dots on the 6oclock are dots at different depths or if it is etched on top.
The magnification look cleaner on the real but other than that I’d probably prefer paying less

Very likely accurate down to 0 to 5 grams, dependent on the factory
