I have never considered Kris to be a great singer but his is a fabulously talented songwriter.
And yes, he is a looker.
Like me, he got an almost fatal tick bite and both of us almost died.
I am thankful to be alive and I am sure he is as well.

I had a huge crush on him for years in 70s!
Kris is something else. Coming from a wealthy oil family he was a road scholar who dropped out of school to enlist in the Vietnam War. After which he decided to get into country music. His family kind of disowned him. He flew a helicopter in the war. After the war he became a janitor at Sun Records I believe, just to be close to music and Johnny Cash. He was a sing writer and didn't see himself as a performer. He flew and landed a helicopter on Johnny Cash's front lawn got it and handed him a recording of Sunday Morning Coming Down. Johnny was so impressed he listened to the song then recorded it. Which started a lifelong friendship which eventually led Kris to preforming and becoming a star. Which led to him becoming an actor in Hollywood. He was also an amateur boxer in his youth.
Not to nitpick as it may have been autocorrect, but that would be “Rhodes Scholar”. Quite an accomplished life, no doubt.
He did volunteer for Vietnam but never went, they assigned him as a flight instructor at West Point. Germany was as close to Vietnam as he got, but not for lack of trying.
And the family was a military family, his Dad was an Air Force General, that’s why he was disowned.

he and the kid were both young . The neighbors all knew Jody so they used his name. He even said that years later she became a woman and he had done enough to call himself a man. They were a couple back then and she became his wife. Then still later his little girl would walk with him, and they were called Jody and the kid. kris was an actor as well as a Hall of Fame songwriter.
Kris was in the service and he was a helicopter pilot , Their is a story that he had written a sing for Johnny Cash and folks at the recording studio where Kris worked and Cash recorded didn't think he should bother Mr.Cash , so Kris borrowed a helicopter from a friend and landed it at Cashs Lake house and took him the song . They became close friends and Cash would stop his recording sessions if Kris wasnt in the studio with him even to the point one of Krises bosses told him not to be in studio and so Kris was in the basement doing some busy work when Cash came into the room asked him why he wasn't in the studio , Kris said he just had si much work to do he didn't have time , Cash set down and tild him then we will just wait till you finish and can be their with me . Thats a true friend right there !!
He wrote and often sang Me & Bobby McGee, an outrageously popular song starting in the 60s. You really should do a few more of his songs.

He wrote a lot of great songs that were hits for other artists such as "Me & Bobby McGee", "For The Good Times", "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down" & "Help Me Make It Through The Night". In 1985 Kristofferson joined fellow country artists Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson & Johnny Cash & formed the supergroup "The Highwaymen". Kris has a huge library of songs.

Chris is a Renaissance man, Helicopter pilot Vietnam ,Ranger School grad, Actor, decent singer, prolific songwriter, my two favs are Bobbi McGee by Janis Joplin, and Sunday Morning coming Down by Johnny Cash. He was the Rubber Duck in the 70s movie Convoy. Whistler in the Blade movies with Wes Snipes, sang in the Super Quartet the Highwaymen.
I still remember the first time I saw him on the big screen, in Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore. My mom and I both inhaled deeply!! 😊

For an interesting tangent- around 1971 or so, Kristofferson discovered a fellow named John Prine playing in a bar in Illinois. After hearing the lyrics to a couple of his songs Kristofferson described Prine as "22 going on 200" for his insights into life- and promptly set Prine up with a record deal and offered his own band as backing musicians for Prine's first album. To hear why, check out Prine's _"Paradise,"_ _"Hello In There,"_ or _"Sam Stone."_ (I'd advise not starting with Sam Stone- all 3 have degrees of sadness, but Stone's tale is downright soul-crushing.)

The little girl in the beginning is his little neighbor, then they grow up and become sweethearts. The girl who follows him at the end of the song is his daughter.
You should hear him tell the story behind the song he did : Why me Lord , It is very moving when he went to church and had a soul moving experiance !!

Kris is one of the most prolific song writers ever. He was also a very good actor. He once wrote a song that he wanted Johnny Cash to evaluate for him. He flew a helicopter to Johnny and June's front yard, to give Johnny the demo tape. Johnny recorded it as soon as he could get into a studio.

Kris Kristofferson was a Rhodes Scholar. At one point he dated Janis Joplin, and later married the beautiful Rita Coolidge. He served in the military, and worked the oil fields of Texas. Starred with Barbra Streisand in A Star is Born. I met him years ago in Beaumont Texas. Extremely handsome man with the most piercing blue eyes ever.

You should check out the movie "A Star is Born." The original one with Barbara Streisand and Kris Kristofferson, not the remake with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. Kris plays the male lead and does a really good job. You seem to appreciate him, so I thought you might appreciate the movie too.
There were actually 2 before the Streisand/Kristofferson version. 1937 with Janet Gaynor and Fredric March, then 1954 with Judy Garland and James Mason.
Kristofferson was also the main male lead in the sci-fi TV miniseries Amerika about life in a future US that has been conquered by the Soviet Union. The series was a ratings disappointment, but Kris really shines in a finale that not enough people ever saw.

I don't recall all the details but Kris was diagnosed and treated for dementia for over a decade only to find out he was suffering from lyme disease. Last I heard he was given proper treatment and his condition improved quite a bit. I'll have to go see what's up with him now that I'm thinking about it.

It's not his sister. They were kids in the first verse, but we don't know their ages. I would imagine he was like 10 - 11, and she was 5 - 6. In the second verse, he's probably in his mid 20s... 23 - 25, and she's 18 - 20. In the third verse they are older, married, and have a kid.

"Deep tenor" is kind of an oxymoron. Tenors are the highest male voices. Below them are the baritones and below them are the basses. In a lot of choirs they will split the sections into first and second soprano, first and second alto, first and second tenors and first (baritones) and second (basses) bass. That way they can do songs written for 8 parts.
The producer who made his first album was told by Chris he was crazy. He couldnt sing. The producer told Kris..you can sing, like a darn frog.
