@@MadisonClysdalee I Live with my father and I text my mom fairly often. My oldest cousin, younger aunt and my grandma have talked to me more than my brother and youngest cousin who haven't talked to me since near mid October 2019.
I love and so appreciate how you and your mom kept calm and ‘took it lightly’ in the sense that you didn’t get super upset or angry for the two hour delay. These things do happen and it is SO important to react calmly and relaxed and even laugh about it, because that is the only way to get through it. Not all people are like that, unfortunately.. my husband would just flip and get angry and frustrated so much that I wouldn’t be able to be next to him but also wouldn’t have any other choice, so it’s really important to go with someone like your mom, who is in the same mindset as you and I love how cool she is. Make sense why she has such a cool brave daughter
Madison, might I suggest you put in a few Katadyn water purification tablets in your kit, just in case you water filters clogs up. Really tiny. Make sure any tablets you get kill protozoa. Great trip. A head lamp with dual power is also nice. Rechargeable and / or replacement batteries.
I have really enjoyed the process of beginning to work my way through your videos. I am off-trail myself, nursing a strained Achilles and partially torn ligaments in my foot, so living vicariously through your adventures has been delightful. I hope your channel thrives and enables you to do all you wish!
We are in our 70s and hubby has been in a rescue group and we have hiked since before you were born. The ten essentials are vital yes and we learned it from the Mountaineers. We like REI
This might sound odd because I love music, who doesn't right, but I really appreciate that you don't in your content. It's just so much easier to watch for some reason. That talus field looked knar. Nothing beats being in the mountains. 🏔
Im from Germany and every year during summer vacation we drive 7 hours to Austria just to go hiking and it’s really beautiful my favourite is the „Weitetal“ at the „Hintertuxer Gletscher“ basically Hintertuxer Glacier it’s so beautiful maybe you’ll get a chance to hike their
Good evening Madison & Mom ! What an amazing journey & your video footage was spectacular ! It’s easy to see where you get your sense of adventure & beauty from ! Keep up the great work & keep smiling !
very cool, just did this hike as well but had a core overnight permit for a couple nights. my buddy got injured and bailed so i ended up doing it solo and summited dragon tail. Glad you enjoyed the hike with your mom.
I did this Enchantments hike as a day hike last year. The Core Zone is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful places I've seen in my life. 20 jaw dropping views in a row. It reminds me of The Louvre where you see countless masterpieces. I was surprised at how much the descent just wore people out. Also, how much route finding was involved. I always knew where I was at with GPS but the path is not clearly marked and the cairns can be misleading at times.
Amazing place and view! It makes even better hiking/adventuring with you love ones. Keep up these amazing and gorgeous places and continue to explore nature. Cheers!
Wow its a very nice bonding with your dear mother Madison. I do really love this video, its an amazing place and a nice view. I am excited to do a hike like this. Hoping for a more incredible and amazing place to visit. I think I am hook with all your videos. Take care and be safe always. God bless you more ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏
Beautiful place! It's nice to see places so far away that I will hardly be able to see in real life! I love mountains and nature in general. Thanks for your videos!
I don’t know how I’ve missed your channel until now. You make awesome content, and now I’m stoked because I have an another channel to watch and catch up on to get me hype for the upcoming season. You seem to have a great skill set, obvious real world experience, and a great vibe. Very few in our community have all of those qualities. Well done, and I wish you success
Just started watching your channel, and I'm impressed so far. Your also the only person I've seen that recommends head nets. I live in Canada and a head net is essential.
I did this last year in Sept. Took us about the same amount of time and we are also very experienced hikers/ trail runners. It was gorgeous and on the bucket list for so long! Nice job!
That was a pretty wild adventure wouldn't want to get lost up there looking forward to your fishing adventure don't forget your fish hook removing tool I like the little plastic ones that have two ends they're very inexpensive and work great.
Wow that’s knockout country , I haven’t done that trek yet ! Those are a lot of trail hours for sure ! I’m a TOPO map and compass person have been all my life but in 1996 I bought my first handheld GPS unit and I’ve been hooked ever since ! If you have never used one , you will be amazed at what you can do with that data ! Great hike , awesome country !
Good video. Good common sense. Great to see young people out in nature. Additional essentials of survivability [research them]: signalling mirror, cotton bandanna, duck tape, repair kit including sewing, some sort of cordage eg dental floss / bankline / paracord, container to boil water.
My favorite hiking/backpacking fishing pole is a fully collapsible pole & reel. Its about 16" long. Its easy to pack and doesn't get caught in trees and bushes as I hike.
Okay, I’m commenting before I even start watching but those stats for how far you’re about to hike are insane! My knees would be soo dead! I don’t know how y’all can do that! Let’s see
@@MadisonClysdaleeI was in Jasper a couple weeks ago and one of my day hikes gained about 750 meters up and down with 10km total distance and my knees were killing me! So I can’t even imagine that! That’s some real strength shown by you two. I’m from Sask where everything is flat
@@MadisonClysdalee I had torn meniscus on both knees and now wear knee wraps. They cushion a little bit of bounce on each step I take. After five miles, those bounces add up and my knees used to swell, but no more. I call them my "knee insurance".
As important as a map is, it is essential you know how to use one. Sounds basic but following a map can be confusing as soon as you loose your point of reference (highway, whatever) If you are out in the woods, get lost, then pull out your map it can seem hopeless. Maybe a vid on map or orienteering basics would be a great thing! Just stumbled across this channel, enjoyed the first vid I saw so started at the beginning and now caught up and subscribed. Looking forward to more!
Spectacular adventure and ending the adventure with talking about day hike essentials was a fantastic surprise. I suggest a sit pad or other ground insulation to save body heat loss by conduction in case of stranded/sick/injured/lost hiker. I also like to have a source of warmth even in relatively mild conditions. Hand warmers and/or candle(s) for the mountains. In the Southeast where I live twigs and wood are plentiful so I like a Emberlit brand titanium Fire-ant (in addition to a candle and hand warmer) as a spot for small but powerful fire . Poncho in combo with the candle can create a potentially life saving micro-climate. Again, spectacular video!
Just did this hike also. Absolutely brutal slog but so rewarding! We had quite a time as we were significantly slowed down by weather and other factors. We were on trail for 23 hours.
Have you tried folding in your side mirrors to get better coverage from your bug nets? Could help close that gap at 1:19. Love the videos, I'm happy to see them getting more attention! Be safe out there!
Great video and so sweet to share this experience with your Mom. But to be brutally honest with you, such a shame to go into this exceptional opportunity and hike with such poor planning.
Your journey was fun to watch and wholesome. The cinematics are awesome!❤ I loved all of the scenes and took some screenshots of the lake for wallpaper. It was so refreshing, like a mini vacation.😊 your channel is entertaining, educational and just fun🎉 Not essential, but eventually nice to have for a large screen would be a higher resolution, but not necessarily. The North-West is soo awesome!!! Thank you!
Awesome video. Thanks for showing off this trail and how beautiful it is! It would be a good idea to carry water purification tablets in a small first aid kit in case your filter doesn't work. The tablets are probably about a gram or two in weight, almost nothing and can save you in a pinch like this.
My mother can't do that any more, though she did summit Fujiyama at 55. :) I trekked the Enchantments in October of this year... you definitely need to do that -- it's by far the best time to go, even though on my trip this summer I saw no mountain goats; just the usual Clarke's nuthatch, pikes, and the occasional marmot. The golden larches are stunning of course... so it's totally worth it to camp there to catch them at sunrise :) Great video, thanks for sharing! It brought back memories... from two months ago ;)
We got our core permit for the enchantments by showing up to the ranger station in Leavenworth the morning of, and seeing what last minutes permits they had available. This was in like 2017, don't know if they do this anymore. The core is amazing if you can camp there.
Southern California is like this too. The first 2 km of a 30 km hike will be mobbed with families. Beyond that you only see more serious/in-shape hikers
Yess please on a tour of the gear. Kindly asking, where can I buy the fishing kit you are about use.? I too have been wanting to get into a little fishing on my weekend adventures
I think based on the fact I watch a lot of camping and overlanding videos, as I do a lot of both and always watching videos to find new places to go this channel came up on the home screen. And the hike that you went on was beautiful, but I'm actually here to comment on that Monstera, the fenestration is amazing, a very well taken care of and loved plant. Great video will definitely watch more!
For your fishing rod, I strongly recommend you get a regular spinning reel instead of a spin casting reel. Spin casting reel is prone to get tangled when casting.
Amazing view! looks like our Multinskie Lakes in Altai, Russia! You're so cute! And your dog too) I enjoy watching your videos! Thank you! I would like to go hiking with you)
Love this video! I’m hiking The enchantments in about a month and Aasgard Pass has me a little nervous as I’m scared of heights… but feel like putting myself through that is worth the views
I lucked out and scored a Core permit for 5 days last August. Hiked it with Danny Scheafer and Bryce Newbold. The most epic trip I have ever done. Day permits there are free, but yeah, overnight permits are tough to get. I talked with one day hiker who has been trying for 15 yrs.
Can you do a video on how to stay safe solo hiking? 🥾 🥾💚 what you bring and so on……. I see you bring the 10 essentials but do you take other steps too?
