What a killer version! The band's arrangement, the building tempo with a couple of down shifts and KT’s wonderfully emotive voice so uniquely suited for Dylan’s lyrics. What’s not to like??
KT Tunstall is just GREAT. Awesome songwriter, singer, guitar player. Authentic, energetic performer. Great stage presence. If that ain’t enough, she can front a band with total confidence OR do it all by herself because she's a complete master of loopers and other effects. And she's got dimples and that accent...
If someone had told me that there was a female singer guitar player thst has taken this Bob Dylan song yo another level. I would have laughed. Being my fathers favorite, I've heard Dylan all my life back as fare as I can remember. This is no doubt the best version of this song by anyone ever. I shall forever listen to this measurizing beautiful voice sing this one. Thank you KT for are my absolute favorite Lady singer of the blues. 💋
Now that's what an artist should aspire to do when covering a masterpiece, KT Tunstall and her band just nailed this perfectly, put their own spin on it and yet it's totally recognizable and done with excellent taste.
@@aprils6589 She does that TOO? Oh wow...This has been some morning, I just heard her completely blow me away with her sublime cover of Chrissie Hynde's "2000 MIles" and now this?! KT is definitely a force of nature with the depth of passion that she brings to her vocals. I've recently been discovering some excellent tracks on albums of hers I've missed. She's damn good no question, excellent songwriter and the band was is great as well. Now onto Simple Twist of Fate!
Check out Tom Jones Not Dark Yet, but yes this is stunning, what a song, what a version. This is what music needs!! Pity The Clash never did a Dylan cover.
KT served the song rather than her ego -(by trying to make her "own" version.) That's the sign of a true artist. The phrasing is 70% of this song and she doesn't screw around with it - she nails it. I think most of you will agree that Dylan's phrasing is so damn subtle and so natural yet so critical in this song that it demands you sing it as he recorded it. Favorites - "...lucky for to be employed". "...right outside 'a (pause) Delacroix" "you look like the silent type" "Revolution" Screw it - the whole f'ing song is my favorite part. Excellent job KT!
This blows me away. I ❤ her. This is one of the rare times where the cover is far better than the original. Disturbeds' cover of Sound of Silenece... Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians' cover of Blue Eyed Son
Blood on the Tracks was also the first full album of Bob Dylan’s that I heard. I was 19 and heard this album the day after I’d broken up with my girlfriend. Every song on the album “Rang true and glowed like burning coal”.
I love this KT Tunstall as opposed to the pop KT Tunstall. I tried listening to some of her other music and it is very different, not in a good way for me.
@@da324 Yeah it's a great performance isn't it? This is how Dylan would have wanted to sound if only he had a singing voice that could hold a note! So more Dylan than Dylan could manage. 'Course, you may disagree.
@@lubberwalker How do you know what Dylan would have wanted.? He's completely comfortable with himself to sing and not care what anyone thinks. He's an icon who will be remembered for centuries if people are still here. There are many pitch perfect singers who will be forgotten in two generations, or less.
@@da324 Heheh as I said. You might disagree. Bob may not. He's a gent and appreciative of others' craft. But don't fret. I'm an ardent fan. I just don't like 10 out of 10. It means something better in perhaps a different way, is falsely constrained. I was once the only person to vote against my own motion. People asked me why? I said, I don't think unanimous is as credible as heavily supported. Smacks of regime elections.
I love KT's performance! She is beautiful, has an amazing voice and I love her energy! I love her voice control when she gets a little raspy! I'll be on the lookout for her next concert in the States when she plays Northern California Bay Area! Sorry I missed you at Yoshi's in Oakland, CA! Keep on rockin KT!
I actually cried watching this performance - KT and her band are young (I'm almost 63), so sharp and they do such a bang-up job taking on this great song, starting with their hand claps (loved that). Stay young, KT and guys.
I like KT Tunstall's music in general. And I like covers. This combination of KT Tunstall doing a funky cover of Dylan where she really brings her own voice and her own arrangement to an iconic song - this is absolutely fantastic music. I'm delighted to have stumbled across it.
Can't really see why some people are being so negative about this version, unless you just don't think anyone else should ever cover a Dylan song, which is just silly, music morphs and moves and is borrowed and used and retold. Stop being so bloody precious, great cover imo.
this is a tremendous effort, well done KT, also this is Dylans legacy, Other artists obviously recognise Genius and want to cover his works. this is the reason Bob Dylan will live forever....
Gorgeous cover of a great song! Her voice, combined with that memorizing guitar riff in the background really brings a unique flavor to Bob's song! I can't stop listening!
To write a song is an art. To write a work of art is a masterpiece. To recognize a masterpiece is a stroke of genius. To sing a song is simple. You just move your lips. She moves her lips. Simple. I have seen this about 50 times.
this is such a razor sharp, sexy cover of Dylan's masterpiece. When the organ finally kicks in, amplifying Ms. Tunstall's rough vocals, it takes you up to heaven.
So is memorizing all the lyrics, at least for me that would be tough. I can sing along with her, but I would trust myself playing and singing this in a performance. I freaking forgot the 2 verse to Weezer say it ain’t so…luckily everyone was drunk….maybe me as well🤦
And how many loved your moments of glad grace/and loved your beauty with a love that's false or true/but one man loved the Pilgrim soul in you/and love the sorrows of your changing face.
Why would anyone knock this. Its a fantastic cover. Bobs my hero and K T done him proud. Phrasing, feeling and emotion, its all there man. ♡
Now that's what you call a performance!! Well done KT, brilliant as always. ❤❤ 🏴🏴
For my money, the best cover of Dylan's great song.

This is one of my favourite covers ever - KT has a gorgeous voice, raw and beautiful and lends itself to this song
I keep coming back to this.. it is the best cover
I agree with both of these comments: I keep coming back to this, one of the best covers ever.
Best cover of this challenging (in terms of lyrics) song I've ever seen! KT's timing and phrasing are perfect.
She has an incredible voice and knows how to use it. A total professional and great artist.
Dylan wrote most of his songs for other artists to perform. She’s great.
KT's husky voice suits this classic Dylan song, and she really performs it passionately
Not only is KT so into the song, so is the band. Very tight. Rocking

Every song on the album “Rang true and glowed like burning coal”.
It is the sheer enthousiasm with the musicality of KT and her band members that evokes a big smile on Dylans face
The more I listen to this rendition the more I like it.
That probably explains why I've stopped counting the number of times I've listened to this. And I keep coming back.
KT crushes this song & it makes sense that she would. It fits her like a glove.

Her voice is so expressive, from deep inside the song. I love the way she rolls with Dylan's tone on certain phrases, in her own way. Masterpiece.
True
A very excellent rendition of one of my favorite Dylan songs. Her voice suits this song.
Give yourself a pat on the back girl . Very very good

This is amazing! KT’s voice is perfect for this song and she performs from the heart & soul. Love it ! Mr. Zimmerman should be proud.

Bob was always cool with artists stepping up his songs I.e. Hendrix K T Tunstall takes this song to a new level in that same circle of legends
