- After months of battling with our Rally car conversion on my mate Neil's Mini, the end seems tantalisingly in sight but is this finally going to be it? Is the Rally Mini finally going to leave the workshop in pursuit of adventure on the open road, or is there just one more twist in the tale?

Edd explaining how it works and what he's doing was the best part of wheeler dealers. Great channel, keep it up Edd
But this is way too long winded especially after covering wheel alignment a few times before. I love Edd but this new channel is boring. (Just my view)
couldn’t disagree more. I think I I understand where you’re coming from, given the contrasting bits with Mike as the hustler. For me, the guildmaster appoach is exactly what makes this stand out.
Let's face it, nobody watched Wheeler Dealers for the wide boy, Mike.
@@gavinwyllie7855 I hadn't seen him do corner weight previously though.
@@gavinwyllie7855
Opinions are like... ahem... tail pipes. We've all got one.
I don't for a second think this is 'long-winded' or indeed 'boring' personally.
And while he did an alignment episode on the Outspan this is totally different. This is setting up a car for a fast road/rally application and is far removed from correcting misalignment via component damage, he also used different equipment to do it. He even talked about the corner weights.
Not all his content is going to appeal to everyone but this did to me.
I always thought wheeler dealers minus the dealing would be a good idea, I was right!
tala!
I fast forward the dealing bits, it does not interest me. Look for a series (its old now) A Car is Born. There's loads of others too but Mark Evans set the mold for all these car shows!!!
I've got the box sets of "A xxx is born" on dvd, awesome series.
@@StuartPlumbley His a chopper is born was awesome too.
and that for a vet..
The talent and great personality is here...the other is pitching swamped hurricane cars somewhere..lol
I can't believe that under this sweet, polite and humble gentleman there's actually a beast of a rally driver hiding! Real life Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde 😁 Loved all the episodes. Hope you win many more races 🏁
It helps that he's pretty light (and a demon driver)
Great comment and detection :) under my secret mind :)
It’s cool watching Ed every week, main stream media please note…
Given up myself with mainstream media.
The smile on Neil's face as he was "test driving" the Mini was priceless. Like a kid at Christmas getting a pony.
I'd have been gutted getting a pony at Christmas. I hate horses.
I want a pony sooo bad, my dad says no, he says he doesnt wanna shovel poop even though I would be the one doing ot lol.
@@PrettyKenziePrincess
You can have Dan Burrow's pony, he doesn't like them apparently 😂
Look on the bright side Dan Burrows. You could always eat the pony for boxing day dinner.
@@felixokeefe Nooooo! Nobody is gonna eat the pony. Step away from the pony!! ✋
This channel re-enforces that "Friday Feeling" for me, great channel.
I am happy for mr China !! Solid work man !!
Really enjoy watching Edd China, he's forgotten more than Richard Hammond has ever known about Cars. ⛽🐟🌟👍
I live for that into, makes me smile everytime! Thank you for bringing your great content to youtube!
Ed, for the lifts, the biggest thing to keep in mind is the load rating of your garage floor. regardless which lift you choose, you have to make sure the concrete floor can handle it and if not, possibly cut holes to pour thicker pads.
Had exactly this problem at the garage I worked at until last year.Another thing you see quite often is four individual posts which are positioned by each wheel and linked electronically.
My thought as well. I was researching lifts for my new garage. Two-posts have much more demanding floor requirements. Thickness, plus rebar.
3000psi concrete will generally support most loads on a four post system. 6000psi concrete is needed for a two post system. You won't find 6000psi concrete in most garages.
Ahh, see I was wondering about single post lifts... can I assume the load rating is unreasonably high for them?!
Sorry but I have to disagree with most of the comments here. The feet on my 2 post at work are likely a larger area than the footprint of 4 tyres sitting on the ground. It's just basic laws of physics of mass divided by surface area. Most 2 posts- or at least all those I've ever worked on- have square 'feet' at the bottom to spread the load and give a better position to bolt it into the floor.
Mr Chinas knowledge is fantastic 👍🇬🇧,and breaks stuff down for us meer mortals to understand ,great stuff 👍
Most excellent,
Real,
Best out there.
This is one of my fave programs, and the best quality on youtube.
Hahaha, Neil is a very happy man ! Good job guys !
Do you know what, Ed? The lighting on your show is what sets it apart from others on UA-cam. Just brilliant.
He is worth a few million so can afford decent lighting and vid equipment.
Jee and wow.awesome video again. Greetings from Finland.
That quiet and humble man turns into a beast once in that Mini. :o)
well me old china , you've done it.. again! one love.
Neil's face on that test drive said it all. Great work, and I look forward to the next one.
That smile on his face says it all what a properly set up little beast 👍 that makes all the hard work worth while
This show is the best thing to happen to UA-cam since sliced-bread. Wait!?
Edit: I love suspension building and tuning. Thanks lads!
Greetings from Turkey edd you are loved king 🙋🏻♂️🇹🇷
Neil looked like kid at Christmas can't blame him after all eds work would love to see if Ed could drive it great show again 👍
I love this show, I have never watched a DIY car show that gives you buying advice on car ramps/lifts 👍🏻 excellent 👌🏻
Great video!!! Thanks Edd.
Great video on how to get a car perfectly balanced. How you could fit it down to 45 mins is another skill in itself, well done Edd and Co.
Great show as always Ed, always look forward to Fridays!!!
This is why Edd’s channel is the best on UA-cam.. Great insight, great information and practical information delivered in a entertaining manner. Thanks Edd.
Edd excellent stuff as always. I weep when I see how clean everything is. Reality bites in my workshop. Rough floor etc. Still mustn't grumble. Just got my Jaguar suspension re done. Super brakes and drives like new now!!
His hair stylist should receive an award.
Again a cracking episode 😊 Thanks..
Love watching your shows, keep it up edd.....
well done all of you from norwich
The smile on Neil is priceless.
As a rally car it will never be "it" as something will always need replacing after some serious action! Been great watching the upgrades though...
Great episode guys 🇳🇿
Can’t beat driving mini so much fun enjoying workshop diaries keep them coming 👍
Ah yes, "Instant Gloves", great idea there Edd, according to the Ed's secret message... :P
Sweet, another Ed China video
Another fantastic episode workshop diaries well done you & Neil burgess
Filming on this video is superb!
Well done. Great to see the Mini test drive.
Congratulations Edd, all your hard work & perseverance (ably assisted by Neil) on the mini has paid off....finally. With the car's suspension now accurately set up, I hope Neil can finally get to enjoy the car & fully shake it down before entering any rallies.👍👍
Totally awesome, loved this episode 100%. Could watch you Ed and Neil all day 😁👍👍
Nice job on the Mini
Brilliant little car. Always learn something everytime one watches. Thanks.
Be well and stay safe.
The production quality of this is simply stunning. LOVE IT!
Yeahaa... testdrive is done... and the smile in the face of Neil: Awesome.... good job & well done

Great to see the mini finally on the road. I love this programme 😀
Good to see Paul back
Instant gloves. What a brilliant idea!😉
Absolutely loved the mini content. Been watching this and project binki in-between. Great work, it's looks amazing and should help win many races 👍🏻👍🏻
Quite entertaining and informational presentation! Keep up the great work.
Top job with the Mini Edd, keep up the good work mate!
Jolly Good Show.
Agreed Editors, the instant gloves are a wonderful idea ;)
Really interesting 'show' Edd, Thanks very much!
Been really very interesting seeing all these upgrades. Best part of the series, in my opinion, though all has been good.
edd gracias por los subtítulos,,Buen video.Gracias
Outstanding as usual Edd, great content well told.
After all this work, will we get to see Neil’s Mini actually competing on course?
Ed was the reason we watched the show anyway.
Nicely done, boys!
To all the people that are bored of the mini... there's nothing boring about it. The car itself might be boring but the trip along the way taught you a lot. If you didn't learn anything from this then you simply are not a proper car enthusiast. I hate mini's myself but there was very good information taken from most of the mini videos that a lot of people can relate to. For instance stripped threat and how to solve it. what do to with a damaged subframe to fix it and so on... Not to mention anyone here who watches that are into rally or would like to start up there own. This beats the hell out of an old, cheese grater of a rangy that should be scrapped but again even though I don't like the car (hate them in fact as they are pointless) I still learnt a lot on the actual work that was done.
Fantastic content as always, one big advantage of a 4 post ramp is your tools are always handy as the ramp doubles as a workbench!
Nice Mini driving in the end :-)
Fantastic diagnostic tools
What a team, another great episode, thank you.
love it edd thanks for sharing greetings from ernie in holland
I've only just discovered the channel and I'm playing catch up - excellent re world problem solving. 11/10
Not sure why it jumped out at me so much this time, but just wanted to say that the photography and camera work in each episode is fantastic!
for a minute i thought you were packing up for good nice to know you are not thanks for the video Edd
This man is a legend
Excellent work! No more rusty bolts for the service crew to work on.
Awesome Edd China
Back in the 70s my brother fixed cars to top up his income. Rather than the lifts (too expensive) he built a pit in his garage, it took weeks to dig out, reroute all the service cables and pipes, pour the concrete ( he used a small mixer), install steps etc, but I can assure you a clutch change on a MK3 Corrina was soooo much easier.
I remember prior to the pit we would lie on our backs, hold the gearbox between our knees, slide if forwards whilst trying to engage the motion shaft splines and all whilst wondering if the 3 inches of space was enough! 🙂 Fun in a strange kind of way.
Been there, done that and got the t shirt. Usually ended up with a lap full of gear oil.
And all the while it was raining …..good old Blighty !
@@steveosshenanigans Yes, well, your clutch never gives up the ghost on a sunny weekend in July, it hangs on until a wet weekend in the middle of February just to be annoying.
@@andystokes8702 yes. I forgot that detail! 🙂
Ed, there are other good alternatives to the two lift options you looked at. Particularly for the DIYer in a standard or double garage. I bought a 2.7 tonne hydraulic scissor lift with 4 swinging arms. It folds flat under the car when not in use, enables doors to be opened, and has all the advantages of a 2 post lift but without the limiting factor of the 2 posts getting in the way. All for £1200, and its 240v single phase! Lifts about 4ft, perfect for a Mini in a double garage with another Mini parked in the other spot. We don't all have massive workshops!
Great tip, thanks, scissor lifts can indeed be really useful, particularly the ones that allow you to tilt the vehicle up at either end…
Awesome👍
cheers Edd, another great video
I love Minis so much. Great job, Edd. 👌🏻
Eddie your the king of the crop
nicely done chaps, very interesting series thanks. and nice to see the Edds workshop graphics on the car at the end, well deserved.
Awsome, cant wait to see it driven in anger 👍😎👍
I don't have a lift, and I agree the 2-post is the one that makes the most sense if you only have one. One positive for the 4-post not mentioned is storing cars. You can add an oil catch tray, the suspension remains loaded, and it is easier to park underneath it and still open doors.
For a home lift, I had to fit a 500 Abarth on the small end and a Chevy 2500HD onthe large end. I went with the 4 post DirectLift ProPark 9+. It is amazing and has also served as loading dock, scaffold, worktable, and paintbooth.
Mini looks really responsive, love to see it rally !!
Nice explanation of corner weighting, although I once had a gotcha (I will own up to) where I forgot to check the tyre pressures first and yes a couple of psi out can muck up everything. Absolutely love WS Diaries a car show for car people.
Just now finished watching all 7 segments on Neil's R56 rally car. Very interesting and great fun as a new viewer of Edd's channel but long time viewer of W-D then and now still. I own a 2006 R53 slicktop with just 5175 total miles (8330 kms), obtained from original owner earlier this year, which had been purposely ordered minimally optioned for lightest weight and then track-prepped (but not subsequently used for such). No plans by me doing that, so taming for streets and highways has been my focus since then. All performance bits were sourced early in 2006 from UK and Germany suppliers, including Team Dynamic Wheels on AP Racing "big brakes", similar to as equipped on Neil's car and much more. Anyone interested can find my thread topic on the USA NAM forum posted under same username.
Great job Edd. Hope to meet you some day
Вот истинный ремонтник!!! Смотрю тебя Edd с удовольствием!!! Хоть и половину языка не понимаю. Так держать!!! Продолжай в том же духе, очень интересно!!!
Sweet ride.
