Edinborough? Surely it should be Edinburgh

LOL.. well they were clearly using the British spelling instead of the Scottish one. Perhaps when the ship was being built, the yardmaster who was in charge of assigning the names was British..?

Only 1 small nitpick...Phasers were a 23rd century weapon and your boomer mentions them ;) otherwise awesome :D

Thought the same. Probably should have been laser batteries (like from UESPA ships at the time, or "phase cannons" if you'd like to stick with the Enterprise lingo. Even just mounting the projectile torpedoes that they had (and at the start of Enterprise), that would have worked canonically. Either way, loved it!

Phase cannons had been installed on Starfleet ships during the ENT time period, so by the time of the Earth-Romulan War, "phase cannons" are simply nicknamed "phasers" by the crews. We've heard photon torpedoes nicknamed "torpedoes" throughout Trek canon (Picard even says "fire the photons" in a TNG ep) ... so it makes complete sense that "phasers" is short hand for phase cannons - even in the 22nd century.

Impressive , nicely done . On a side note ..... Congratulations you just joined Starfleet and no one told you . The second you agreed to allow them to mount weaponry on a CIVILIAN vessel you became a combatant . I doubt the Romulans care one way or the other but with humans that makes you a legitimate target not a questionable one .

The moment the Romulans attacked civilian vessels under international marintime law the merchant vessels are legally allowed to mount weaponry for self defense. As long as they do not use the Q Ships in the line of battle they can do what they are doing quite legally.

In real life, Q ships have to lower their merchant flag and hoist their official war flag before attacking as to not be considered war crimes. I'd think in this context it'd mean stop transmitting merchant IFF and start transmitting Starfleet's before open firing.
