- Dark Souls 2 Chime Melee Attacks Only. Can you beat Dark Souls 2 with a miracle build but without any miracles? In this "guide" I show how to survive Dark Souls II scholar of the first sin edition (PS4) by only using chime melee attacks to do damage against enemies. So only the casting tools for miracles but no actual miracles or hexes.

I think the disk chime used to do massive damage as melee but was patched out?
It still does. I even show in the video that it does almost twice as much damage at +0 compared to the +5 dragon chime

I’d like to imagine that this character wanted so desperately to be a cleric, but could never figure out how to use chimes to cast properly; so they just used them to pummel the enemy’s face in.

The reason lightning still does good damage against LGK is because it's raining. You're both wet, so you both take more damage from lightning. His resistance really just brings him up to normal.
Ah so the arena was fine-tuned for lightning damage
dark damage should still be higher however, dark urns vs lightning urns show that difference, plus testing too. There is probably an issue with pure amount of lightning vs dark on the chimes where the caitha chime is too low to win despite Looking knight being weaker to dark.

@@explosion1704 things can only have 1 class in this game. its told to you right there on the stat screen. disc chime clearly says chime. so its a chime. shield crossbow clear says crossbow so its a crossbow. it doesn't matter what it functions as what matters is what it actually is.

Slightly late but at 14:18 you can start at the second bonfire, go up the ladder, go around to take care of the ambush guy then standing from where he is, run straight to the item. No roll, no jump, just run. You will land exactly where god intended.

The reason why lightning still did more damage to looking glass knight is because the devs attempted to make him resist lightning, but him being in the rain gives him the wet debuff which actually makes him still weak to lightning
I guess Mirror Knight's lightning defense is somewhat negated because he is standing in the rain - Water = increased lightning damage

Me who beat the game with 6 ADP because I didn't know Agility gave more i-frames, dodged through almost every attack, and died about once every three minutes: "I am the church."

Haven't seen the whole vid yet and scrolled a bit the comment section and saw no one mention it but I wanted to point it out, you mention the chime displaying pretty high AR while not dealing much damage, that's because the shown AR is the magic damage. It's really apparent when you run a dark build, since staves (and prolly chimes IDK I only used staves with dark) display outrageous AR values because they are just displaying the combined Magic and Dark AR (even though it makes zero sense since those are two separate values for damage with spells). It was really apparent when I had a knight build embracing the darkness within him mid playthrough, his treebranch had like 400 AR while the broadsword had 200 with roughly 20 ish in str/dex/int/faith.
tl;dr displayed AR for magic weapon is misleading.

I was thinking of doing a Broken Straightsword or SL1 run in the original Dark Souls, as I refuse to play through DS2 again, challenge or otherwise. What a way that finish a crappy Monday but with an awesome video from my favorite youtuber
You know what would have been cool? If Velstäd's Sacred Chime had a gimmick to it's Weapon Art. Depending on what miracle you have equipped it would add on a secondary effect to either buff the weapon or be channeled through it and like the orbs it shoots out. Let's say if you had Lightning Spear equipped. You could use the weapon art to either buff the weapon with the Lightning Spear or have it fire out many Lightning Spears at the cost of one cast of the spear and durability from Velstäd's Sacred Chime. I know DS2 is an old game but it'd be cool if they added a weapon like this in the other games. One for each class of magic would be cool. Imagine a sword that changed secondary effects depending on what sorcery you had equipped or a curved sword that was based on pyromancies.

the reason your lightning chime did more damage against the mirror night is because its raining in the mirror knights boss fight. hes actually weak to lightning, as are you, and as is everything in ds2 thats caught in the rain.
Lightning is OP in this game. Even the few bosses that are resistant to it, aren't really
@@PressContinue very true. standing in the rain or a pool of water heavily decreases lightning resistance. its weird to me that they would program him with lightning resistance when it just gets cancelled out by his arena. maybe the rain was last minute
