I don’t know why, but natural hair looks so feminine to me. Natural hair looks like flowers, trees, and every other beautiful thing in this world. All black women looks amazing in it. I think some of us get frustrated with our texture due to shrinkage and a lot of women associate longer hair with beauty. Just subbed ❤

wore mini twists to the bar the other night. didn't add any hair cause i'm broke. felt like they looked ok but a little bit blah. but i got more attention than i ever have and people said it looked really cool. not saying getting attention in a bar is a major acheivement, but i think as black women we forget how eye catching we are

Omg I'm currently wearing twists with my own hair (too broke for braids) and they come down to like my mouth length and omg, I feel so freaking pretty! It's amazing to find a protective style I can do on my own hair. I'm a teacher and these twists gave Ms the break I needed to focus on report card conferences and survive this crazy busy time in my life and still look cute. As soon as spring break hits, im taking then out and gonna rock the twist out. But seriously, these twists last me two weeks at a time and my god it's a life saver! And minitwists are soon flattering on black women, even when their short! ❤️

Something I've learned as a black woman with a lot of non-black friends is that distinguishing yourself from non-black women rather than imitating them is the key. People have a dual disdain and fascination with blackness; the questions and comments I get from the people around me (most of them either Middle Eastern or South Asian; two cultures with very strong colorist and racial biases) are intriguing. They respect you more when you appreciate their cultures but still stand strongly in your own.

NEVER had yt girl friends but all my friends were Asians. I low key picked up that because we are SO different in appearance from other groups we will always stand out the most. The same thing we are hated for and some of us have internalized shame and hatred about is exactly what we need to capitalize on to win 😂❤ flex about it and love yourself. No one can replicate what we have
Edit: and sometimes the hate we get for it is based off of envy from other women because men in their race are interested and attracted to what they themselves cannot replicate. I was bullied for that reason.

My girl when I say this is the TRUTH! Omg girl YEEESSSS! This is so true! A couple of days ago, I was on my way home and I had my natural hair in an Afro but later tied it up because it was so windy that day. On the bus home, the bus was really full so I was forced to stand. With that being said, this really nice man (dark skin, Jamaican guy) invited me to sit next to him. The whole bus ride home he was telling me how much he loved my natural hair and called me so beautiful. He said things like “seeing a woman like you with long thick natural hair in a world where everyone doesn’t wear their real hair is a breathe of fresh air” and such. He was a really sweet nice guy and I appreciate him so much! He reminded me of my ex situstionship guy who also praised my natural hair a lot haha. Natural hair is beautiful!
I love my natural hair and I love how it makes me that girl in the room to look at (figuratively speaking of course lol)
Wearing my big fro causes everyone to stop and look at me - I’ll be forever proud and honored to have beautiful thick healthy long 4c natural hair!
I always say in a room filled of lace fronts, be the fro🤗

I gifted myself & recently got Sisterlocks. I love it here, I feel the most confident , my femininity magically appeared, and my hair has become everyone’s obsession when I’m out, including mine. I think the caveat is that this works if your natural hair is also naturally thick/full. Some of us got just naturally low density hair so it doesn’t look as nice out without some clip ins or something lolol. I do agree with the video though about natural hair texture being the most flattering, so all my wigs are still either blow out textured or have a natural curl…..essentially, hair people always assume is mine LOLOL. Silky straight isn’t flattering to me.

I would like to add, this also applies to the girlies that wear afro textured extensions, braids and twists. I know it can be hard if your hair is thin and brittle. As long as the hair mimics afro textured hair, you're still leaning into our own unique beauty.

The first time in my life, I could go out without feeling self conscious about my hair when my natural hair became healthy and I mastered my twist out. I was also self conscious with my relaxer... of my puffy roots, stringy ends, hair looking clumped and greasy after a few days. I do admit when my natural hair was very short and at times when it was dry and unhealthy, I did not enjoy wearing it. It really takes time and patience and sometimes starting over a few times to understand our hair.

I saw this for myself when I went to the czech republic a couple days ago. I never travel internationally with my natural hair, it’s always braided or in a weave. The constant stares and compliments I received for rocking my natural hair made me realize my hair commands attention and admiration. It makes me stand out even more. It is our unmistakable POWER and tells the world you are unafraid to be your natural gorgeous self. I hope every black woman who reads this experiences this realization.

It could be just me, but I feel that non-textured wigs/extensions tend to age us, as well. One of the most beautiful things to me is a head full of white/silver natural hair whether it be loose, in locs, etc. against our age resistant melanin. I always admired how regal it looks. If every woman around you has bone stright hair and you've always worn straight styles, next time you do your hair try a slightly kinkier style, then something with maybe a loose curl, then more textured, and one step closer and closer until you reach your natural texture.
