- 🌻 DEALING WITH CHALKBROOD IN A BEEHIVE. ORARA VALLEY HONEY. NANA GLEN . APRIL 2021 🌻
🐝 Chalkbrood is a brood disease of honeybees caused by the fungus Ascosphaera apis.
🐝 Severity can vary from a few cells to extreme infections resulting in the death of the hive.
🐝 In this video, we look at a relatively weak hive with chalkbrood.
🐝 we took the decision to reduce the hive from a double to a single and to replace any bloodless frames in the brood box with honey frames.
🐝 The hive will be monitored and nursed through the next few months then broken up for nucleus hives in the spring.
🐝 Mt. Coramba Apiculture offers beekeeping courses & workshops for beginners.

Did your hive survive without having to requeen?
I don’t worry about bee stings in Australia, I worry about Jack jumper ants, ticks, leaches and brown snakes
Yes lots of things can kill or hurt you here.
