Ok, I have watched many many videos on beekeeping as I want to start my own hive but no-one, I mean NO-ONE, has explained it like you have done in as much detail and in terms I can understand.
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH.
Gifted teacher
Sorry I didn't see this comment sooner! It snuck by me. Thank you SO MUCH! I really appreciate your kind words.
It’s so true what @garryhancock3394 said about this video. I’m in a Bee club and I learned more in this video than a full year of beekeeping. I’m in the highlands in Australia so we are getting ready for winter. My last inspection will be tomorrow and testing before spring in September.
Did you have any tips for 1st year wintering for new beekeepers?
Agreed
Great information. I’m a first year beekeeper and have watched dozens of hours of videos on beekeeping. This one was the best yet for learning how to read the frames in the hive. I learned a lot, thanks.
Thank you!!! You know, sometimes I wonder if I should keep making videos because there are SO MANY beekeeping videos already on UA-cam. Then I read a wonderful comment like yours and it convinces me to keep going :)
@@BeekeepingMadeSimple yes please keep making them. Liked and subscribed
THE BEST video i have seen and I have really watched a LOT of videos.
Hi lady I heard u said sometimes there are two queen in a hive but I was learn that only one queen in a hive
I agree
Than God I found you! As a first year beekeeper, I am lost. Have had a basic teaching from another beekeeper but not very informative. Your video has taught me more in 30 minutes than I have learned in 4 months! Thank you for being so in depth. ❤
Glad to help
What an incredibly informative video! You explained everything about the unique cells and comb within that one hive and not just a slideshow with getty images. This is how you share knowledge and expertise! Bravo!
Thank you! I am posting another version of this video this weekend with some better footage. It was rainy and foggy that day making it not the best for taking videos, but now that I have some hives in a less rainy location, I am able to shoot better footage.
You are a very talented educator. Well organized and terrific presentation
Thank you very much!
As indicated you really do make well-made, informative videos. Combined it really conveys how you know your craft.
Amazing video! Clear, informative and engaging. As a new beekeeper I've watched hours of video but none as informative as yours. Thank you my dear girl! I will now be able to be a better bee keeper with what you have shown.
My wife and I are moving this fall and are starting beekeeping next year. I really appreciate the vast amount of videos on beekeeping here on UA-cam.
This video was very well executed. You were very clear and easy to understand. Thanks for all the information with detailed descriptions!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching and the wonderful comment.
Thank you! I am a first year beek , and your tutorial was exactly what I needed. There is so much to learn!
Please keep making more videos, I learned more from watching your video than most any of the videos I have scrolled through, thank you very much, I don't have any bees yet but I am going to be getting me some as soon as I can afford it
I am just beginning to learn about starting and keeping bees. your videos explain way more than others and i have learned a lot. Thank YOU!
You're welcome!
So helpful on so many levels. I've watched this several times and shared it with my children. Thanks for taking the time to educate us.
I am just learning in preparation for starting as a bee keeper next spring. This was the best video I have seen so far. The close-up pictures and detailed explanations made all the difference. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
❤
Best information on the internet so far! Clear, concise, and meaningful. Thank you!
THANK YOU !!! We are brand new beekeepers ( how cool to be able to say that! 🎉 ) , and your videos have relieved a ton of stress about doing the right things for the bees. You are so articulate in your speaking and your deliberate rhythm is so refreshing!
You done a great job telling everybody the correct way to read a frame spot on an in great detail . Keep up the great work you are helping out people to become great Bee Keepers. THANKS
This has been very helpful. I've seen a lot of what you said all over youtube, but you simplified most if it in an even more comprehensible way. I get my nuc in about two weeks and a package sometime soon and will start my beegining of this hobby. Thank you!
I have watched lots of videos, yours explains it very simply and admire your patience explaining about it, I will be starting next spring and really look forward to using your 5 pointers to look out for, the bees seem very calm as well. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
You are a clear and engaging teacher. Wow!
Definitely one of the best and most informative bee videos on UA-cam.
Thank you for this; the level of detail is perfect for a 1st beekeeper. It's exactly what I needed!
Excellent video and training. Thank you. I have been upset that I couldn't find my queen. This is the best video ever.
Thank you for this video. As a new bee keeper iv watched this video probably 4 times now very helpful
very informative... I've learned a lot... my dad at 74 y/o is starting a hive and I'm trying to help him, with me knowing close to nothing about it... I'll definitely keep watching this channel to learn more...
I'm in first year too and this video was really clear and full of useful information. Thanks
One of the best videos I have watched re; reading combs. Ty for the excellent information, Larissa. Keep up the good work and ty for sharing your knowledge with "curious minds who NEED to know".
Thank you!
Best explanation Ever!
Love your videos! You're a great teacher. I enjoy learning new things from people who have extensive experience and knowledge of a subject. Watching you handle those frames without a suit or gloves was amazing. I'm not that brave yet lol. Plus my bees are the Russian ones. They're supposed to be a little more aggressive, but on the plus side they are said to be resistant to varroa mites and also cold hardy. Will see I just got them in March of this year. Looking good so far. Thank you for sharing your wonderful knowledge. It's helping alot.
Your videos are so educational..thank you for sharing your experience with us!
I’m was so glad to run across your video. You are so excellent in your definitions and what to look for. Awesome, helpful information! Thank you so much.
You are so welcome!
I don't know how I can possibly improve on the comments your past viewers have left. Ditto on all of them. You definitely do a wonderful job at educating us. I have watched, like one said, countless hours of bee videos, and you definitely do the best job. This was the first one of your videos I found and watched, it definitely won't be the last. You can read the passion on your face and hear it in your voice when you talk about the pest problems. I wish I lived next door to you. I don't have a hive yet, but I'm sure it's in the cards. I've been watching these videos for a while now, trying to get as much education as I can before I dive in to it. Thanks so much for being here. Past bed time my time, Florida. I'm up at 4 and in here watching gardening and honey bee videos for a couple hours while my old body warms up and I get rolling. See ya again soon.
Thank you!
I love watching bee keeping vids but also get the sense that I'm late to the game because it always assumes the audience knows a foundation of bee-knowledge. So I thank you for the beginner-level discussion - I learned a lot.
You're welcome. That's the goal - to help people at the before they have their bees level.
One of the best videos I've watched. Very, very informative.
Thank you for explaining the hives. My brother just started bee keeping and I love learning about them.
Thanks for watching!
This is the BEST info so far for beginners! THANK YOU!
You're so welcome!
I have just begun the journey of beekeeping and was looking for videos teaching me what to look out for. Your delivery is very good. I'm on week 2 of beekeeping and struggling to see what I'm looking for! Watching your video is a great start, thank you!
This is my first yr beekeeping. This is the exact video I needed! Thank you!
Wonderful!
enjoy
Amazing info, thank you so much for taking the time to make this video.
Liked and subscribed. Clear explanations, no wasted time. You discussed the examination process focusing on the order of inspection and diagnosis of what we're seeing. First year beekeeper so thank you so much. Best teaching session I've had.
Thank you!
Thanks! I'm at the beginning of year two with a hive of Russian bees. It's hard to know how often to check in the hive, especially since it takes me so long to know what I'm looking at and what it means. Really appreciate how thorough you are.
I’ve long wondered what the rolling of the tongue sounds like as they buzz in Russian…… :-)>
good luck
You were fantastic! Thank you for being so patient in explaining the entire box. I learned do much from you. ❤️
Thank you. As a new beek, I'm still learning. And I need all the knowledge I can get.
Such a great video!! Just what I was looking for. Thank you so much for this easy to follow, well paced video, with wonderful photos.
You're welcome! Best of luck with your bees.
This is the most informative post I’ve come across-thank you so much!!
I just got my first hive. This was so very helpful.
I'm so glad it helped!
I think this should be the first video beginners watch. Learning about gadgets and the supers are important but its more important to learn about the animal you are tending.
I agree! That's why I really encourage my students to just sit outside their hive and watch the bees come and go. You will learn 100 times more just by being in their presence and it will make you a better beekeeper. Gadgets make things easier, but nothing replaces the beekeeper intuition you will develop when you learn about bee behavour.
Thanks for the clear and concise explanations. Much appreciated !
You are welcome!
I have watched a bunch of intro to bee keeping videos. This one is by far the best. Thanks for the informative video.
Wow, thanks!
Great video. Thank you. 2nd year beekeeper and still learning so much
Great to hear!
Thank you for such a helpful, informative instructional video! Much appreciated.
You're very welcome!
Thank you so much for sharing your wealth of knowledge
Great job in breaking it down step by step. You took the time and showed what it is and what it should look like. Thank you very much!!!
Thank you! I'm going to try to film this again when it's not so cloudy and I can get better lighting :)
I am in my second year of bee keeping and I have so much to learn! Thank you for great videos!
Y giving us very important information with honestly..and clearly..thanks
Thank you so much for a very in depth, excellently delivered, passionate and knowledgeable breakdown of the hive components, signs, activities, recognition, diseases etc. Your love and passion for beekeeping shines through. As a newbie you have taught me things I never had explained with such clarity. Subscribed to your lovely channel. ❤
You're very welcome! Thanks for subscribing.
Great information and decision tree for frame by frame inspections!
I don't know how good a beekeeper you are but my YOU ARE AN AMAZING TEACHER!
Thanks! I'll take it :)
An excellent video, very well explained, thanks!
Outstanding job! Clear explanations of what things to look for and why. Really like your delivery style and the way you handle the bees shows you are a true expert!
Thank you!
Great video. Many thanks for the basics on inspection. We have two hives on Big Island in lower Puna and have learned much the hard way. We love our girls and want the best for them.
Mahalo for watching!
Thanks, one of the best video I saw about how to inspect a hive. Very well done 👍.
So nice of you. Thank you!

Great video! Very informative and definitely will be downloading your hive inspection list.
Thank you! I hope it helps to simplify what the beekeeper does when checking a hive.
This video is so helpful to a new beekeeper like myself. Thank you
You're welcome!
The best bee video by far! Excellent explanation! thanks
I came looking for a video just like this. Yours is the best! I’ma first year and was having the hardest time distinguishing between the kinds of cells and you broke it down in a way that is so simple for me. I was also stressing because I can never seem to spot the Queen and you helped relieve a lot of that stress. Thank you!
That was me my first two years too! It gets easier, but nothing beats going out with an experienced beekeeper to just point everything out to you.
Well done, have not begun bee keeping yet. Studding and learning bee keeping . Thanks for a great presentation
Very clear and thorough.
Thank you for such rich information. This was a great explanation.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching.
You are a excellent teacher!! Thank you

Thank you. It's my first year and a little weary of how well I'm doing as a beekeeper. Your video is very clear and helpful. Denise from Norther Ontario Canada
Glad it was helpful!
very clear and helpful. perhaps a bit long. Now I check the information of how to tell when a frame is ready for harvest. tx a million
You're welcome! Thanks for watching.
20+ years experience here (Hobby, not commercial). This is a great video! I wish I had it when I started.
Thank you! I'm flattered that you wacthed it.
This video is a must see for newbies such as myself! It's so informative. I saved it so I can refer back to it regularly. Thank you. :)
Very interesting and informative.
Well done Larissa, great information. You really help by explaining all aspects of the hive and bees 🐝.
🇦🇺👍🐝🍯
Thanks, Trevor! Happy New Year! How are you doing?
Very thorough. Thanks.
Great video Leresa. After going on a beginners bee keeping course now have my first hive and look through the frames weekly at the local bee keepers club where lots of other beginners keep their hives.
It is so helpful learning with an experienced bee keeper going around inspecting each hive with their owners and with lots of questions and observations being made.
Find this hands on approach gaining experence from others noting problems and repetitivness really useful in drumming home knowledge. Also with the help of watching numerous online videos from professionals like yourself talking and listening to scientist about latest developments coming through on how to tackle diseases.
Hi, this is Eberhard from Oschatz-Germany.
This is a super video. I teach jung beekeepers. Your video is super. I was able to take some screenshots of your video. These pictures show exactly what I want to show my students. Distance Hawaii- Germany approximately 7500 miles, yet we are one beekeeping family worldwide.
we definitely are!
Hello.i started bee keeping like one month ago.catched a bee swarm.and that's the way I started.and I used to watch many videos..and this video is.nr 1 this far.thankyou for sharing ur knowledge to us.
That is awesome!
Thank you! Very good information for a newbee!🤙🤙
I just started this year and have two very healthy hives so far. I’m looking forward to splitting and adding double the hives each year up to 200. So far this is the most informative channel on bees that I have found! Subscribed and will be back! Thanks so much.
Nice! That's very ambitious but also doable :) I started with just 2 hives and caught some swarms and just kept splitting the strong ones. It can be done. Sometimes, the hardest part is getting all that equipment and finding land for them. One word of advice - it can be tempting to split every hive with enough brood (I made that mistake). But not all hives are strong and hard workers. It's better to have 20 strong, good producing hives than 100 hives that aren't as strong. Keep requeening the colonies with poor genetics.
Don't be frustrated when your hives get wiped out. You always have hive losses no matter how experienced you are. The secret is to have lots of hives.
@@tomcurran1538 >Sounds like great advice. I was talking to a beekeeper who lost all his hives three years running before he just started having success. Now he has an annual ‘dead hive’ rate of about 30% annually and as long as he just keeps doing the common sense maintenance and splitting before swarming he keeps growing. I think that’s a very practical model to follow as far as expectations. We just started a rabbitry and no endeavor just flows smoothly and successfully from the start!….of course….rabbits are easier to breed because they breed like….well……RABBITS!
Very good, informative video. I am in my 4th year. Went from 1 hive to 5 and have caught several swarms. It is fun but also work. And yes, I have lost hives also. And oh yeah, been stung too. Keep up the good videos, you are a great teacher.
Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to comment :) Great job expanding your apiary! That's exactly what I try to get my students to do -expand to at least 5 hives over the summer. That way it's not a big deal if one or two hives don't make it. That's nature and your apiary can bounce back.
Excellent video for a beginner!!!
well done. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, and explaining step by step with photos. We are first time beekeepers. I thought I would be the assistant, however I've been promoted to head keeper as hubs has taken on other work projects and no longer has time.
Oh boy! Sometimes that happens. Women make better beekeepers, anyway :p
Amazing video, I just started on beekeeping and I found this very informative. Definitely subscribing, keep up the great work!
Awesome! Thank you!
Good explanation useful thank you
Great video! Is there a video on recognizing the 3 stages of baby bees?
Thank you very much for your time
You are very welcome
I like the way you are doing hive inspection without smoke
For whatever reason, I've never used the smoker much. I'm not sure why. It can be helpful, but since the bees are usually pretty calm, I don't have much of a need for it I guess.
Thanks for the easy to understand information
You are welcome!
This is so great! Thank you for sharing.
Really informative ….thankyou
