    I am on my 2nd day of renting the Edge (Titanium trim) from Hertz. I've rented dozens of vehicles over the years. The Edge might be the best vehicle I've ever rented based on acceleration, handling and the comfortable driver's seat. I'm not a fan of the huge screen, but it seems to work well once you get used to it. I would definitely consider buying one, but sadly it appears they are discontinuing the Edge after 2023.

      Yeah and they're bringing a new EV called Explorer, which looks remarkably like the Range Rover Explorer, in fact I would say it is a Range Rover with a Ford badge on.

    I don't know what kind of an edge you got....I have a 2021 with a boosted 2.0 with a 8spd trans. It is the smoothest and quietest car I've ever owned. On my early spring down and back to FL I averaged 25 city, 28 combined and 32 highway.

      Just be careful for the internal water pump that the 3.5L has, this is coming from someone that owned a 2014 Edge with the 3.5L. It costs quite a bit to replace it because of how much labor is involved.

    The one thing I like about Ford is that they did NOT need to be bailed out by our government! They handled business and didn't need a bailout because they screwed up their finances...

    • @inducedapathy1296
      @inducedapathy1296 2 роки тому

      FWIW Ford took around 5-6 billion in taxpayer money around the same time that GM and Chrysler did back in the Obama/Bush era. I wouldn't be so naive these days as all the manufacturers get some sort of gibs from different governments. All do.

    • @shojus
      @shojus 2 роки тому

      @@inducedapathy1296 They all have taken some taxpayers money, but my point was that they weren't going to go bankrupt without it, like GM and Chrysler were both crying about. The auto industry takes all kinds of money from the government to make certain cars that meet certain requirements, so I understand your point too.

    • @inducedapathy1296
      @inducedapathy1296 2 роки тому +1

      @@shojus Ford took a 6 billion loan at the same time and still hasn't paid it back afaik. You can call it whatever you want it but it was a bailout in all but name. GM and Chrysler covered those within a short period of time. Chrysler only survived since they were bought by Fiat which then got 4 billion from the US gov. Ford was in much more trouble much earlier. Out of the big three the only reason they didn't take more is due to selling off Volvo and Jaguar etc. They also took out extensive loans privately just before the bailouts after the selloffs just to keep the lights on. They downsized considerably.

    • @inducedapathy1296
      @inducedapathy1296 2 роки тому

      @@shojus Just to add bankruptcy isn't necessarily that much of a negative. It can be a great move to get things organized in a large organization or even small.

      @shojus 2 роки тому

      @@inducedapathy1296
      Let's be real though, a loan is far different than NEEDING money to stay afloat? Sure bankruptcy can be good for the company, but not necessarily for the thousands of people that will be laid off because of it... And all of the big automakers still owe the government money in some form or another.

    The 2022 Edge is an amazing mid size SUV. I've worked in service at a ford dealer for 5 years and this is one of our most reliable vehicles. Also, It's not Fords fault people can't read an owners manual to figure out how the radio screen works. It's extremely easy to navigate. Like everything you said is just complete opposite of all the feedback I've gotten from Edge owners over the years. I had a 22' edge for a demo for a few weeks and was getting 30+ mph highway and 22 city. On top of that it is very comfortable and handles nicely.

      I agree with this review. I just rented this car and had to drive 3 hours and I fought the car the whole time. Acceleration was awful, not smooth and the handling was like driving a tank. It was so bad and I thought to myself, is it this rental or is it me or what is up. So when I got to my destination, I looked up reviews on the Ford Edge and this was the first one that popped up. It was spot on. I know they make a sportier model and maybe the suspension and engine/trans are different in that model but for this one reviewed its spot on.

    I have a 2014 FWD Ford Flex with the 3.5, built at the Oakville plant in Canada, where they build the Edges. I have 140,000 miles on mine; except for a very minor suspension repair under warranty, it has NEVER had a repair. I still have the original rear brakes, just did the fronts. I've had upwards of 30 vehicles in my life, including BMW's, Mercedes, Volvo; the Flex is the best bar none. Come to think of it, I've never had a stinker with Ford; I also had a Crown Vic, two Lincoln's and an F-150, all very good.

    I have 29K miles on my 2022 Edge, great comfortable car. You want 0-60- times then buy a Redeye or Gt stang. Maybe the only "Fat Pig" is this guys right foot. I towed a 4'X8' Uhaul enclosed trailer from Kentucky to Fl and got his 19.5 MPG. My average is 24 - 27mpg. That includes trips through the Smokie Mnts, the Green and the White Mnts. with plenty of power to maintain posted speeds. I can carry 8ft 2x4's with the hatch closed. They actually have mine registered and insured as an Edge Truck, so I guess he is right there its not a SUV.

    I was never a Ford person. I 1st leased a Ford Escape. Then I leased a Ford Edge Sport. I fell in love with my Ford Edge Sport. Then they changed the Sport into the Ford Edge ST. The Ford Edge ST is Hella fast for an SUV. It's a BMW X5 wannabe, lol. I just installed the throttle control module on my Ford Edge ST and it makes a night and day difference my ST. My Edge ST cums fully loaded with all the safety features including lane departure, adaptive cruise control, brake assist and self parking features. The adaptive cruise control is one of my favorite feature on my ST. I use it all the time, no matter what the speed limit is. The lane departure keeps me in my lane at all times. I can even let go of my steering wheel and it will control my steering for a certain amount of time as long as I'm in between the white lines on either side of the road. It also works around curved roads as well. It has the Ford app where I can start my vehicle at any time . I have it set up to turn on right before I have to leave for work. For the price, it packs a lot of features that most vehicles charge you an arm and leg for. Believe me, I've looked around and I did my research. That's why I purchased my lease. I couldn't find a comparable SUV with all these features in it. Ford doesn't stand for, "Fix On Repair Daily" anymore. Now it means "For Only Real Drivers" lol. This is just my input.

One thing that REALLY makes a difference is if you have a heavy foot. I mean you must really be pedal to the floor quite a lot. Or, perhaps the spark plugs went bad or something. Anyway, everyone's tastes are different. Take care bro.

    Bought used 2011 Ford Edge Limited. Well taken care of by only one previous owner. I am blown away by how "nice" this thing feels. Seats are extremely comfortable with electric lumbar support. ALOT of saftey sensors, adaptive cruise control on and on. I can't imagine a better value in a used vehicle. Rides well, tons of get up and go. 3.5 ltr. Super easy to change oil and trans fluid. Blows my much more expensive 2013 Tahoe LTZ away...

    My Ford Edge has been a money pit since we bought it. I'm lucky if a month goes by where the thing doesn't need something. 170000kms and it's needed alot to stay going. The wastegate on the 2.0 0:03 ecoboost is shot, has been since near new actually. Transmission shifts rough and refuses to downshift properly. My second Ford with sticky shift solenoids. High pressure fuel pump crapped out. Tierods went out at 100000kms which is ridiculous. The Sync touchscreen is dog slow. Chrome is falling off the grill. The leather seats are paper thin and rip easily. Too many things to list. My 1992 f250 has just over 200000kms and I beat the crap out of it and never any issues. Ford gave up on quality years ago.

    I have a 2020 Ford Edge it’s in the color gold and so aesthetically pleasing to me. I upgraded from my 2015 navy blue F-150 for it. It’s the perfect size. It has a small screen but also buttons and knobs so you don’t have to use it. I use the screen for the maps feature. The maps look so good on it for traveling and I never know where I’m going.😂I drove from Alaska through Canada to Oregon with it. I had two dogs in the back truck area. My son and a cooler in the back seats and my man and I up front. We put all of our clothes and everything else on top in our roof rack. Love the car and have so many memories with it! My man and his friends take it camping all the time and bring it back a mess. They love the car too!😂 I won’t be upgrading it to a newer model because I hate the screens in them and they don’t have the adjustable buttons I see. I will be keeping this car for the rest of my life!😂

    I have a 2013 Ford Edge with 3.5 v6. It gets 23 mpg around town and 29 mpg on the highway. The driver rear door closed switch has given me problems since new. Ford should have done a recall on this because every single Ford Edge from 2011 to 2015 has this problem. It is dangerous because the inside light won’t go off, at night you are blind. I was going to change the serpentine belt and found out I needed a special tool to do this. I had to go to a Ford Dealer to get this done for $250. I currently have 114k miles on this car and I am getting afraid of the cam phaser failure. Next car will be a Toyota or Honda. I had a 2000 Honda CR-V and put 400k on with very few problems. Good luck Ford, I will never buy another one.

    I have a European Ford Edge 2017 Sport and it's a car like any other. With your problems and benefits. We still have the Ford S -Max 2007 and had no significant failure over the whole time - except for liquid and filters except the alternator. For Edge, I bother me to fog rear lights and cracking plastic on them. The truth is the worse workmanship and the throwing plastics on the deck board, the door handles and the middle armrest - Ford really doubted. Otherwise it is a large and easy -to -use car, a kilometer. Here in Europe we have only diesel versions 2.0 TDCI with Bi-turbo 154kW, which is fun against American gasoline engines, but consumption is about 7.5-8l/100km, which is not terrible for these size and weight of the car. There are definitely worse cars and I myself would not buy Edge anymore and bought German production, where the quality of processing is on another level. But otherwise Ford Edge is nothing different from other American productions.

    Horribly user-unfriendly car. Drove it as a rental from Budget. Headlight controls are not on the steering column. Don’t know if Ford was the first to break that standardized placement, but it’s a bad idea. (What’s next, moving the position of the gas and brake pedals?) Headlight controls are on a dial that you CAN’T SEE from the driver’s seat and that is a safety issue. The icons are puzzling. You get an indicator for regular headlights on one part of the dash, but the indicator for bright lights is in a totally different and unexpected place. You move the dial between the 2nd and 3rd settings and no indicator changes.
    And what is the gas pump icon doing in the middle of the gas gauge? My first thought was that it was supposed to move up and down to reflect the amount of gas. But no. It’s just there, an unnecessary distraction.
    No user guide in the glove compartment-it’s an e-file you access from the oversized screen, which you discover after pressing several buttons on the screen.
    I agree, the icons like the AC on the bottom of the screen are NOT for older eyes, and even for younger ones could be puzzling.
    I am 5’4”’ and I could barely reach the top of the trunk to close it. Why doesn’t this car have an automatic trunk closing feature?
    Ford, listen up; There are usability testing professionals who would have given you low marks for this vehicle. Why in the world didn’t their evaluation enter into the design of this car?

    I've been buying the Buick Enclave since around 2015. Prior to that I started with the GMC Acadias in 2008 and 2012 before they got nerfed. It was more spacious than the Tahoe or Yukon until the new redesign recently with the new suspension (2021+). The 3.6 generally does around 6s 0-60 for such a big vehicle. Gas mileage is similar to this Edge. Ride quality and quiet cabin are pretty good. I need something that can seat up to seven adults and can tow sporadically. I don't think the Japanese have anything that can meet my needs unless you get something like a Seqoia. The Armada might be big enough but it's a Nissan and they've been a garbage brand for almost twenty years.

    i have this for a rental while my car is getting repairs, it’s all around decent comfy seats, smooth quiet ride, a little dated interior and the climate controls take a little getting used to. but one thing you said is the sound system is great? WRONG, the music sounds like it’s hooked up to a fm transmitter in a 98 neon 😂 if ford updated it and improved mpg i would want to buy one.

    Yo. You should of bought the ST version. Your losing out on about roughly 100hp. The ST has what 335 hp on 87 fuel. 91 fuel its like 388 hp. I dont remember what hp all under the ST version is. But I know its alot lower. The only edge worth getting is the ST version. And keep in mind theres a version called " ST Line" the word line will allow you to know stay away. Its low hp also. ST vs ST Line are two different vehicles. You only should want the "ST". 2.7 v6 turbocharged 335hp

    Products like this are what happens when a car company is only interested in producing "consumer products". When 20-30 year old cars are better than the new stuff, you know the auto industry is screwed! Why would anyone buy new? I just don't understand why you'd throw away so much money. For what? All I know is my edge has 80k miles. I have been stranded due to the electric power steering failing. That cost me $2400 at 65k miles. I have had to take it to the dealer 7 times to fix the electronics going out or going haywire. Resetting or unplugging the battery does not help. The electric tail gate might be the dumbest FING thing ever invented. It started failing at 70k miles. It tries to open, then doesnt, but gives you an error and beeping going down the road as though it is open. This requires you to manually turn off inside lights or it eats your battery. Only a $1300 fix. How about not 1, but 2 alternators already? Weather stripping inside the doors come loose constantly. Was sold 28mpg hwy and 23 town. Its 18 town and 23 hwy. This vehicle has been babied. And is still a complete piece of shit.

    Quite a few years ago now we had a rental Chrysler 200 for a week with that dial shifter. I hated it, mostly because I was always looking for the column shifter (I even did that when I drove my sister's Impala with a floor shift auto). I suppose if I had one to drive I'd eventually get used to it and not care, but .... eh
    19.5 MPG is about what my dad's '13 F150 4x4 gets on the highway, with 5.0 and 6 speed auto. So far that hasn't been a bad truck but the salt here has killed the rear wheel arches and is starting on the rockers up inside where it's hidden under the door. I finally got used to the shape of the dash so I'm not banging my knee into the sort of point at the bottom.

    They really do suck!, When my mother got ran into the insurance company gave her a Ford Edge and funny not funny it broke down two days later for no reason at all and she ended up with a impala that wasn't much better but it ran until she got her car back lol. Vehicles today are definitely horrible and that old saying of "They don't build them like they used to" is so damn true. And it truly amazes me that these car companies are charging so much for what I call over glorified Lego's with gasoline/Diesel engines lol. Give me the oldschool steel, carburetor and so on every single day of the week and at least with those you don't need a degree in computer science and the instruments to simply diagnose the problem and the tools to fix it.. Thanks for sharing TK and have yourself a great night and rest of the weekend!. 🙏🙏🍻

      Large SUV GM all the way. One of the big pluses on the big GM SUVs or just in general is they always keep the manual knobs and controls for music and climate controls. Seat controls like heated and cooled seats are another big plus here. These screens are going to be expensive junk that cannot be replaced easily.
