Watching this right after Jack's playthrough and I just realized that the phones we were picking up during the dream sequence at the karaoke are supposed to be all the missed calls from Moeka while we were passed out. God, the alone karaoke endings remain the worst for me solely because we definitely could have done something to prevent things from happening but we just didn't.
Second time watching this. The first time was Sean's playthrough. It JUST dawned on me that the reason both Sean and Evelyn struggle to "sing" the 2nd song and the rhythm is off is because the character is feeling the effects of the drugged drink. OH, MY GOD! 😭 Maybe I'm wrong. But the workers keep checking on the girl in the room to see how she's affected, right??? What Evelyn said at 21:26 made my jaw drop as a lightbulb went off in my head.
if thats actually implemented in the game, like, that you get worse at "singing" because the character is feeling the effects of the drugs, so her singing is off in some way...dang. thats incredible attention to details.
Aside from Moeka's disturbing call at the early part of the game (and that lurker dude), I find it creepy as well that the player was forced into singing "Ripe Fruit" just before all things went to hell. With the kind of theme this game had with the coach, I think you can put 2 and 2 together from there.

This was the best playthrough I've watched so far. Your knowledge of Japanese makes for a richer experience, as there were spoken parts without subtitles I really wanted to understand. I commend Chilla's Art for raising awareness about this types of abuse (sexual harassment, stalking) through their games. They're really successful at conveying how disturbing such matters can be. This. I decided to watch this gameplay now, because it's been a while since i first saw it (probably watched Sean play it the first time) and it adds so much, I'm happy i saw it. Now I need to find out if Gab played any other games, where she explains some of not translated japanese parts. I get a bit sad, when a game doesn't have translations of some things, as you often lose a lot of context because of it. Like, I never realised that Moeka said "Don't touch me" instead of cutting off her sentence at "Don't". Like, gosh! This makes it more unsettling that MC didn't go look for her friend. I would RUN the moment i heard the distress in my friends voice, but that last sentence would make my heart drop.

@@dimwarlock I've heard a lot of talk about creepers on Japanese trains. Like dudes feeling women up or outright sexually assaulting them in a crowded train car. There's actually a vlogger/streamer (the type that streams their life all day) who basically caught a guy doing it to her on her livestream and she talks about how common it is for women there. You can actually find her channel here on UA-cam if it's still up. She is a white, Australian woman so I don't know how her experience might differ from a local woman but it does seem to be a huge issue. I've also heard that the police don't really do much or seem to care much about these incidents. The Aussie woman who was assaulted talks about how non-phased the police were when she attempted to report the incident but she also says it could be because she is foreign as well. This is all hearsay but there does seem to be a LOT of mumblings about the sexual harassment situation in Japan and just the overall respect and equal treatment of women there. There's many videos that interview Japanese women and according to these interviews, a very high percentage of them report that they have been sexually harassed or touched in some way on public transport. It gets my blood boiling. That is SO MANY women. (PSA: I have nothing against Japan and I by no means think this is a problem ONLY in Japan. I'm just speaking about things I have seen and heard from other women.)

Knowing that the last person she was with was the coach, I'd run straight to the police station and ask them to help me find my friend and that creepy coach! The girl not responding to her friend's "don't touch me!" might be because the karaoke place was too loud. She did say she can't hear her over the phone. She gave me anxiety, she didn't suspect a single thing from the phone call, the creepy guy and the random food/drink on her table. She didn't bother to stay with her friend either when Moeka said to go ahead in the first run, no, you should clean up together and go karaoke together. Never leave your friend alone or go somewhere alone when it's so dark out! 💀
I think one of my favorite thing about Chilla's Art is seeing their incredible progression with each game they make. They used to have a harsh film grain because their graphics weren't the best, their stories were very vague yet still horrifying, and slowly but surely you see them getting better and better with each game. Something about their games though, they just have that nice touch to just make you shit your pants lol
The scariest thing about Chilla's games for me is how realistically plausible they are. Like, this stuff can and does happen in real life, regularly. And that's the real horror.
Edit: leave Stick alone, guys; I think it's a matter of difference in opinion and miscommunication. Chilla comes off as a really compassionate, empathetic person. I believe they are male, and if so, he's done a good job of depicting sexual misconduct as a serious matter; furthermore, he's made a few games now where women were the protagonist in a realistic situation, and while the women understandably panic, he gives them the option to fight back. His depictions of mental illness are also fairly sympathetic. In Japan, mental illness is taboo to even discuss or acknowledge, and sexual harassment and rape are treated as "just one of those things that happens". I wonder if he has many female friends, or knew someone who was victimized.

I feel a bit uncomfortable that it's always men being creeps in the games, I feel like there should be a game where a woman is the one harassing someone. I guess chances are low that'll happen since it's already taboo to talk about r*pe and most places that have such severe taboos would believe women cannot be creeps. It being men all the time unsettles me because it kind of makes all men seem bad, and makes it seem like only men can act like this. Being a creep has nothing to do with gender nor sex, it's just likelier for guys because society already expects them to be controlling and in charge and also stronger, and because a whole lot of people (the old fashioned ones) may still think men are better people and so turn a blind eye to such things. But being a creep takes a mentality that anyone of any gender can possibly develop.
I’m sorry, but I have to wholeheartedly disagree with this. This is completely derailing the truth which is that statistically speaking a significant amount of sexual assault and sexual harassment is at the hands of a man and the victim is a woman. That doesn’t mean that men cannot be victims, but it means that from a statistical standpoint it’s pretty much a moot point. Unfortunately, it runs deeper than a random potential personality disorder that can be developed, there is deep seeded misogyny that leads men to believe they are entitled to the things that they want purely because of their inherent maleness, there is a sociological implication that boys and men simply cannot help themselves when I comes to their predatory and violent impulses and that the women in society must accept that this is purely primitive which is absolutely garbage. But it is definitely a deep seeded misogynistic issue as opposed to a random personality trait generation. A fears to fathom game came out recently where the victim was a male being stalked by his violent ex girlfriend, so there is a ratio of representation available. Unfortunately for you also, it is supposed to make you uncomfortable because this is the truth. Sometimes many men don’t even know how serious femecide and sexual violence against women truly is, and serious conversations that lead you to grow as a person and become more knowledgeable in these types of areas are definitely conversations that make you uncomfortable xox
Something I really love about these Chilla's art games is how many little things you can find. They often have stories of difficulties of dealing with creeps as a woman, in a very realistic light. Which is why it makes it feel like real horror.

I love that you know the language and can point out these subtle differences. I played Death Mark on the Switch and knowing Japanese would have made the game easier because many of the puzzles were a play on words, in Japanese of course 😄

Something I enjoy about Chilla's- (and Fears to Fathom) games is that sometimes there are multiple antagonists, but only one main "villain," so to speak. Because, sometimes, that's how it is. There are many bad people, and few- if any- good ones. It also lends well to video games in a mechanics sense; it subverts your expectations.
I don't find many horror games scary but scenarios in games like this shake me to my core and leaves me feeling sick. What's worse is that this game brought out vivid memories of when I went to go for an exercise run at night and a man called out to me, then drove down the block to park on the same side of the sidewalk I was on after I ignored him. I was so terrified for my life I ran the other way and went around the block and hid in someone's backyard until I felt safe enough to quickly run back home. I didn't think to call the cops at the time because I was so scared, but sad to say, this isn't the first time I've had something like this occur to me (previous time was when I was in high school. it was to a lesser degree but it still freaks me out today.) I can't count with all my fingers where I had incredibly uncomfortable and scary interactions with men throughout my life, and games like these really hits me hard. Kudos to Chillas for making games like this in such a respectful manner.
I was watching the stream live, and had to stop watching eventually. I’ve been SA’d too many times, and I’ve also been drugged, and I ended up having bad flashbacks and the worse panic attack I’ve ever had. I could only watch about 15-30 mins, before I ended up being on the emergency line not able to breath 😂 I’m in a shit ton of meds today to be able to function a bit. Definitely the scariest game I’ve ever seen
I just want to point out that when the main character wakes up in the karaoke room, because she was drugged as everyone can tell the doors to the room are slightly ajar and latter she feels sick and after the ending where she waits for the police she goes to the hospital but we never saw her get hurt by the coach so I think it's implied that the guy that was stalking her actually did something to her after he drugged her...😟 Just a thought that I had I know it's sad but wanted to put it out there just to see if anyone else noticed this as well.
The part that I hate so much from the first PT was that you HAVE to drink that weird drink someone left in your karaoke room, eat the fries you didn't order (WHY) and you don't even care your friend sounded like she was being accosted. I would've run back and call the police LOL.
Yeah I feel like the earlier chilla's art games depicting the same problems were more accurate. Even in them, the victims could have done better but the mistakes felt genuine, caused by social norms. In this one, it feels like the mc just keeps making mistakes for the sake of the plot. Don't get me wrong, I still like it but I just think the writing and mechanics are just a bit flawed in this one.
One of my favorite parts about watching these play throughs is the very real female responses. The "why are we not going back for our friend" is the thing most guys missed. I was even surprised that no one tried to stay with her in the first place. Dude gave me the creeps from the start.
First of all I love Gab’s Japanese stories, translations and just fun facts about Japan. This Chilla’s Art has to be up there as one of the creepiest one along with Closing shift, the creepiest is when you are hiding and him saying “I know you are hiding” just the biggest “Ew!”
I just watched Sean’s playthrough before this one, and I didn’t even consider the main character falling asleep as her being drugged by the other guy… crazy that I always realize the horrible sub-plots in Chilla’s Art games through Gab’s videos!

Oh another chillas art game :00 my absolute favourite game dev team tbh, they deserve sm more hype and they bring awareness to so many things people go through with the horror genre, it makes me feel very grounded and normal in being an easily worried person tbh, I actually have androphobia to an extent, I’ve not had a SA or catcalling experience myself but I think I’ve gotten to a place where I’m so paranoid and careful constantly around men that it impacts my life hugely, I wish I could wander around none the wiser and not feel tense about these things, but then I don’t think I’d be safe to be honest

This is such an unsettling game. When the part came up about the 10 girls I burst out crying. It isn’t fair that this is a very real fear and situation especially for girls/ women in the world that we live in
it's just a red herring. in reality, stuff like accidentally walking into the wrong room aren't scary, just awkward. but the tension that's building up makes you forget that plenty of workers are lazy and will leave earlier than their shift ends, tons of servers get orders wrong, and it's completely normal to see other patrons walk past your door. the only weird karaoke-related thing is the note from an admirer. but even _that_ can be explained away. the real question is why tf didn't she react to her friend's screams???
the first song, her laughing and smiling the whole time is infections. i loved that sm. my favorite part of these games is hearing her experiences and reading the signs/info in Japanese. makes me want to learn myself (:
they could have easily remedied the situation with the drink by having you go to the bathroom, because then it's like, when you thought the drink was safe in the room, someone did something to it.

wow. that was horrifying! one of the best chilla's art games... i literally screamed when the coach found you in the toilet. so creepy. amazing story.... but i was angry at the main character cause whyyy would you eat the food! or drink the water? horrible, horrible idea. i also liked that they dubbed the characters. great job! :)
yeah, doesn’t make sense at all. You don’t have to experience living in a dangerous area or know about men drugging women to realise that you should help your friend in distress or not eat/drink some random food… you brought your drink, why drink some drink you don’t remember getting? Or why not help your friend who’s clearly in some bad situation, there was no doubt something’s very wrong is going on with the friend. Very annoying

Nothing is scarier about this type of indie horror games than women being the main characters who are stalked and then assaulted by creepy men and perverts for their own pleasure. It's scarier to watch than paranormal-based storylines because it's real...
the voice acting in this game is so good and such a nice touch! i love the way chilla's art games have evolved. also that sneaking around section looked super hard. i was trying so hard to listen but it was hard to tell where he was. it's also not very forgiving if you make even the slightest mistake.
I finally had the opportunity to play a Chilla's Art game and my first one was The Karaoke. This game is an indie masterpiece, I know it's a simple one, but with such an important meaning. As a survivor of male violence, my first play with this game was not easy at all, but I couldn't hold myself until I got all the 6 endings and the game becomes even more interesting as long as we discover all the possible endings for it. There's so much to debate about it, and that's amazing! I'm studying to be a 3D artist for games, and I always thought with myself how cool it would be if a horror game showed something related to the terror that misoginy is, in a realistic way, and that's why The Karaoke is so meaningful to me. There's never a "right way" to survive or to go through those situations, and the game shows that in multiple ways. It's also an experience that can make people more sensitive to what we, as women, go through in this world that is so rude to us, every day. Like someone said in the coments: Being a woman - the horror game. It's just so genius! And I'm so happy that I closed the game with all the six endings! I ran to Gabs channel right when I finished the whole game so I could understand all the japanese phrases that had no subtitles xDDD and it's so interesting to see how the gamer girls are reacting to this game, so much in common and thoughts that are relatable about the walkthrough. Chilla's Art really impressed me on this one, in many different ways (from admiration to total getting terrified and wanting to quit like NOW hahaahaha)

Yet that terrifying random dude at the karaoke who probably drugged our drink and left a paper in our fries still roams free dhsjksqk there's always that one threat in Chilla's games that's there to tense you up during the game and then you never see them again even though they could be a whole other horror game themselves 🥲

I think this is one of Chilla's best games so far, up there with Closing Shift and Convenience Store. But this reminds me, since I know you like horror movies, have you seen a South Korean film Gokseong (The Wailing)? I saw it a couple weeks ago for the first time and it left a stronger impression on me then I think any other horror film I've seen. In fact it bothered me so much that I found myself going over some scenes again and again even in my sleep.

Granted, I think this game takes place in the early 2000s, just based on the flip phones. Most people don't use those nowadays. But also, no one ever said characters in horror media were smart. 🤣
If I first saw the game by myself, I might have not noticed that the characters at the beginning are different than the actual title. Glad I learned something new today! I also wanna say that I watch your playthroughs whenever I am working (as a tailor) and whenever I am drawing because you give a chill vibe to the gameplay!
Man, I have to say, this is the best Chilla's Art game I've seen so far! Gab's is so right, the 4 minute wait for the cops is so deeply terrifying, a realistic fear. Honestly, really cool, I'm gonna go back and give their other games another try
as much as i wanted to get mad at the character not helping her friend, from the perspective of a kid (and not one raised in my particular circumstances) i can understand not knowing how many red flags there were not everyone is as aware of the dangers in the world or how to protect yourself. i mean it’s sad to even have to know *how* as a kid. it’s a good message that at the end of the day even when you’re controlling the character and something bad happens, you’ll blame her still. when it’s no one’s fault but the man who did it. you can’t stop it, she can’t stop it.
Honestly I prefer your vids, Gab, so much that when I saw this game come out - I didn't watch any other playthrough until you played it. You just have such an awesome vibe especially when you play Chilla's Art games
As always, the greatest horror stories are those which are seated closer to reality, and Chilla's Art seems to treat situations like these with sincerity. Towards a lighter note, the translations of the posters and signs really helps towards getting immersed into the story, and the purple chinchilla on the right of the screen during the karaoke is amazing as yet another self-reference.
I love Chilla's Arts game because Gab being able to translate all the parts we miss haha!! You get so much more of the story / atmosphere!! (I also love her stories and hearing her talk in Japanese!!) Very cool

I remember when one of my good friends first learned what catcalling was and how creepy and gross it is (he’s a cis gay man). His immediate response was that he would flirt unapologetically with the cat caller to see how the guy liked a taste of his own medicine. He’s a good friend.
I often got ナンパされた in Japan, which is where I learned how to ignore cat-calls when I returned to the US. although, one time I was with a Japanese friend in Japan, and some men tried to cat-call us while we were having drinks outside of a conbini. she replied to them in a monotone voice へーそうなの… without making eye contact (much like the staff woman in this game lol) and I thought that was SO COOL lol. also! you probably noticed after filming: 予約 yoyaku 約束 yakusoku although, reserving a song is basically like promising to sing it!
I love Chillas' art style and his ability to create games with situations that could and may have happened in real life. This first ending you got was a bit harder to digest compared to his previous games. Nevertheless, Chilla has an amazing skill for storytelling via video games. And you're my favourite person to watch play these! I watch other people play them too, but your reactions are a lot different than others, and it's easier for my ears to handle due to being hypersensitive and not being able to handle loud noises.

When someone keep repeating "I know you're in there, just come out, I won't hurt you" The reality is: 1) They don't know where you are, 2) Don't ever come out, 3) They will absolutely hurt you This is one of those moments where I'd be yelling "ghosts and your hellish portals where are you when I need you??!"
When I was in junior high in the early 00s (I was 12 or 13 years old), we went into the locker room once and the coach was sitting on a chair in the very back, around a corner. One girl always changed there so obviously she saw him and he left immediately and said that he was just taking a break (in the girls locker room? okay dude). Another time he said we couldn't use the locker room for some reason, but we were "welcome to change in [his] office." Another time, we were up on the stage in the gym and he conveniently swept the floor nearby the edge. He was bent low enough so we were worried that he was looking up our skirts. During flexibility training, he watched the girls way more than the boys.
A thing that makes Gab's videos so nice to watch with a cup of tea in bed is the fact her voice is nice in calm. I haven't seen a lot of your content Gab but in the videos I've seen you're so nice and chill and you dont yell everything like some youtubers 🤣 (no shade, I love loud youtubers, they're engaging and make me laugh 🤣 but more relaxed youtubers are the best to put on when winding down 🥰) Not to mention chillas art games perfectly combine cozy familiarity and japanese culture with a bit of horror, and your ways of translating stuff and letting us in on all the context and meaning of the japanese is really lovely, and I love when you talk about your own experiences in japan. Its making me get back into japanese, I used to study it in uni before switching to another degree and its nostalgic to revisit my love for the culture. All the best! 💗💗

The fact that Gab's Japanese friends felt so safe with her cus she's this cool western woman and Japanese men were afraid to catcall her is awesome.
I doin't think they were afraid so much as didn't want to deal with the embarassment that might come from dealing with somebody who might yell back at them. Most Japanese women aren't raised to be as assertive as western women are.

I think they mean they like to watch Gab play the game first before watching another creator play it so they can tell in their comments what the posters mean. So even though another creator uploads first they like to still just watch Gab first to get the translations of everything

Watching this right after Jack's playthrough and I just realized that the phones we were picking up during the dream sequence at the karaoke are supposed to be all the missed calls from Moeka while we were passed out. God, the alone karaoke endings remain the worst for me solely because we definitely could have done something to prevent things from happening but we just didn't.
Second time watching this. The first time was Sean's playthrough. It JUST dawned on me that the reason both Sean and Evelyn struggle to "sing" the 2nd song and the rhythm is off is because the character is feeling the effects of the drugged drink. OH, MY GOD! 😭 Maybe I'm wrong. But the workers keep checking on the girl in the room to see how she's affected, right??? What Evelyn said at 21:26 made my jaw drop as a lightbulb went off in my head.

if thats actually implemented in the game, like, that you get worse at "singing" because the character is feeling the effects of the drugs, so her singing is off in some way...dang. thats incredible attention to details.
Aside from Moeka's disturbing call at the early part of the game (and that lurker dude), I find it creepy as well that the player was forced into singing "Ripe Fruit" just before all things went to hell. With the kind of theme this game had with the coach, I think you can put 2 and 2 together from there.

This was the best playthrough I've watched so far. Your knowledge of Japanese makes for a richer experience, as there were spoken parts without subtitles I really wanted to understand. I commend Chilla's Art for raising awareness about this types of abuse (sexual harassment, stalking) through their games. They're really successful at conveying how disturbing such matters can be. This. I decided to watch this gameplay now, because it's been a while since i first saw it (probably watched Sean play it the first time) and it adds so much, I'm happy i saw it. Now I need to find out if Gab played any other games, where she explains some of not translated japanese parts. I get a bit sad, when a game doesn't have translations of some things, as you often lose a lot of context because of it.
Like, I never realised that Moeka said "Don't touch me" instead of cutting off her sentence at "Don't". Like, gosh! This makes it more unsettling that MC didn't go look for her friend. I would RUN the moment i heard the distress in my friends voice, but that last sentence would make my heart drop.

Eastern European here! I have actually been living in NL for 2 years and I have to say I feel pretty safe in the the Netherlands compared to how I did back home.

@@ildza8733 Might be safer than other places, but I've heard Japan is known for not treating women with the most respect in a lot of aspects. There are many cultural differences, but also a lot of bad human similarities.
@@dimwarlock I've heard a lot of talk about creepers on Japanese trains. Like dudes feeling women up or outright sexually assaulting them in a crowded train car. There's actually a vlogger/streamer (the type that streams their life all day) who basically caught a guy doing it to her on her livestream and she talks about how common it is for women there. You can actually find her channel here on UA-cam if it's still up. She is a white, Australian woman so I don't know how her experience might differ from a local woman but it does seem to be a huge issue. I've also heard that the police don't really do much or seem to care much about these incidents. The Aussie woman who was assaulted talks about how non-phased the police were when she attempted to report the incident but she also says it could be because she is foreign as well. This is all hearsay but there does seem to be a LOT of mumblings about the sexual harassment situation in Japan and just the overall respect and equal treatment of women there. There's many videos that interview Japanese women and according to these interviews, a very high percentage of them report that they have been sexually harassed or touched in some way on public transport. It gets my blood boiling. That is SO MANY women. (PSA: I have nothing against Japan and I by no means think this is a problem ONLY in Japan. I'm just speaking about things I have seen and heard from other women.)
I'm sorry but if I get a panicked call from my friend and she says "don't touch me!" Knowing that the last person she was with was the coach, I'd run straight to the police station and ask them to help me find my friend and that creepy coach!

The girl not responding to her friend's "don't touch me!" might be because the karaoke place was too loud. She did say she can't hear her over the phone. She gave me anxiety, she didn't suspect a single thing from the phone call, the creepy guy and the random food/drink on her table. She didn't bother to stay with her friend either when Moeka said to go ahead in the first run, no, you should clean up together and go karaoke together. Never leave your friend alone or go somewhere alone when it's so dark out! 💀
Chilla’s art seriously is becoming quite a name in gaming horror. They never fail to creep me out immensely.
I think one of my favorite thing about Chilla's Art is seeing their incredible progression with each game they make. They used to have a harsh film grain because their graphics weren't the best, their stories were very vague yet still horrifying, and slowly but surely you see them getting better and better with each game. Something about their games though, they just have that nice touch to just make you shit your pants lol
The scariest thing about Chilla's games for me is how realistically plausible they are. Like, this stuff can and does happen in real life, regularly. And that's the real horror.

Chilla comes off as a really compassionate, empathetic person. I believe they are male, and if so, he's done a good job of depicting sexual misconduct as a serious matter; furthermore, he's made a few games now where women were the protagonist in a realistic situation, and while the women understandably panic, he gives them the option to fight back. His depictions of mental illness are also fairly sympathetic. In Japan, mental illness is taboo to even discuss or acknowledge, and sexual harassment and rape are treated as "just one of those things that happens". I wonder if he has many female friends, or knew someone who was victimized.

I feel a bit uncomfortable that it's always men being creeps in the games, I feel like there should be a game where a woman is the one harassing someone. I guess chances are low that'll happen since it's already taboo to talk about r*pe and most places that have such severe taboos would believe women cannot be creeps.
It being men all the time unsettles me because it kind of makes all men seem bad, and makes it seem like only men can act like this.
Being a creep has nothing to do with gender nor sex, it's just likelier for guys because society already expects them to be controlling and in charge and also stronger, and because a whole lot of people (the old fashioned ones) may still think men are better people and so turn a blind eye to such things.
But being a creep takes a mentality that anyone of any gender can possibly develop.
I’m sorry, but I have to wholeheartedly disagree with this. This is completely derailing the truth which is that statistically speaking a significant amount of sexual assault and sexual harassment is at the hands of a man and the victim is a woman. That doesn’t mean that men cannot be victims, but it means that from a statistical standpoint it’s pretty much a moot point. Unfortunately, it runs deeper than a random potential personality disorder that can be developed, there is deep seeded misogyny that leads men to believe they are entitled to the things that they want purely because of their inherent maleness, there is a sociological implication that boys and men simply cannot help themselves when I comes to their predatory and violent impulses and that the women in society must accept that this is purely primitive which is absolutely garbage. But it is definitely a deep seeded misogynistic issue as opposed to a random personality trait generation. A fears to fathom game came out recently where the victim was a male being stalked by his violent ex girlfriend, so there is a ratio of representation available. Unfortunately for you also, it is supposed to make you uncomfortable because this is the truth. Sometimes many men don’t even know how serious femecide and sexual violence against women truly is, and serious conversations that lead you to grow as a person and become more knowledgeable in these types of areas are definitely conversations that make you uncomfortable xox

Something I really love about these Chilla's art games is how many little things you can find.
They often have stories of difficulties of dealing with creeps as a woman, in a very realistic light. Which is why it makes it feel like real horror.
I totally jumped at 31:05 when he busted in the room again. I was so focused on listening to Gab explain what the song lyrics were I wasn’t thinking about him just walking in again. Especially since she was watching the door lol

I love that you know the language and can point out these subtle differences. I played Death Mark on the Switch and knowing Japanese would have made the game easier because many of the puzzles were a play on words, in Japanese of course 😄

Something I enjoy about Chilla's- (and Fears to Fathom) games is that sometimes there are multiple antagonists, but only one main "villain," so to speak. Because, sometimes, that's how it is. There are many bad people, and few- if any- good ones. It also lends well to video games in a mechanics sense; it subverts your expectations.
I don't find many horror games scary but scenarios in games like this shake me to my core and leaves me feeling sick.
What's worse is that this game brought out vivid memories of when I went to go for an exercise run at night and a man called out to me, then drove down the block to park on the same side of the sidewalk I was on after I ignored him. I was so terrified for my life I ran the other way and went around the block and hid in someone's backyard until I felt safe enough to quickly run back home. I didn't think to call the cops at the time because I was so scared, but sad to say, this isn't the first time I've had something like this occur to me (previous time was when I was in high school. it was to a lesser degree but it still freaks me out today.)
I can't count with all my fingers where I had incredibly uncomfortable and scary interactions with men throughout my life, and games like these really hits me hard. Kudos to Chillas for making games like this in such a respectful manner.

I was watching the stream live, and had to stop watching eventually. I’ve been SA’d too many times, and I’ve also been drugged, and I ended up having bad flashbacks and the worse panic attack I’ve ever had. I could only watch about 15-30 mins, before I ended up being on the emergency line not able to breath 😂 I’m in a shit ton of meds today to be able to function a bit. Definitely the scariest game I’ve ever seen

I just want to point out that when the main character wakes up in the karaoke room, because she was drugged as everyone can tell the doors to the room are slightly ajar and latter she feels sick and after the ending where she waits for the police she goes to the hospital but we never saw her get hurt by the coach so I think it's implied that the guy that was stalking her actually did something to her after he drugged her...😟 Just a thought that I had I know it's sad but wanted to put it out there just to see if anyone else noticed this as well.

The part that I hate so much from the first PT was that you HAVE to drink that weird drink someone left in your karaoke room, eat the fries you didn't order (WHY) and you don't even care your friend sounded like she was being accosted. I would've run back and call the police LOL.
Yeah I feel like the earlier chilla's art games depicting the same problems were more accurate. Even in them, the victims could have done better but the mistakes felt genuine, caused by social norms. In this one, it feels like the mc just keeps making mistakes for the sake of the plot. Don't get me wrong, I still like it but I just think the writing and mechanics are just a bit flawed in this one.
On the other hand, I also think maybe the MC's ignorance is intentional? Idk.

One of my favorite parts about watching these play throughs is the very real female responses. The "why are we not going back for our friend" is the thing most guys missed. I was even surprised that no one tried to stay with her in the first place. Dude gave me the creeps from the start.

First of all I love Gab’s Japanese stories, translations and just fun facts about Japan. This Chilla’s Art has to be up there as one of the creepiest one along with Closing shift, the creepiest is when you are hiding and him saying “I know you are hiding” just the biggest “Ew!”
I just watched Sean’s playthrough before this one, and I didn’t even consider the main character falling asleep as her being drugged by the other guy… crazy that I always realize the horrible sub-plots in Chilla’s Art games through Gab’s videos!

Oh another chillas art game :00 my absolute favourite game dev team tbh, they deserve sm more hype and they bring awareness to so many things people go through with the horror genre, it makes me feel very grounded and normal in being an easily worried person tbh, I actually have androphobia to an extent, I’ve not had a SA or catcalling experience myself but I think I’ve gotten to a place where I’m so paranoid and careful constantly around men that it impacts my life hugely, I wish I could wander around none the wiser and not feel tense about these things, but then I don’t think I’d be safe to be honest
Your knowledge of Japanese makes this so comfy! I was meant to study in Kyoto for a year but covid bonked that. I'm graduated now and looking forward to visiting and possibly doing JET in Japan! I miss being there even though I only visited once.

This is such an unsettling game. When the part came up about the 10 girls I burst out crying. It isn’t fair that this is a very real fear and situation especially for girls/ women in the world that we live in
I’m so confused about the creepy guy and the employee with the food situation. Chilla + Gab = amazing as always!
I think it was to a) throw you off the coach a bit and b) drive home how pervasive this sort of danger is
it's just a red herring. in reality, stuff like accidentally walking into the wrong room aren't scary, just awkward. but the tension that's building up makes you forget that plenty of workers are lazy and will leave earlier than their shift ends, tons of servers get orders wrong, and it's completely normal to see other patrons walk past your door. the only weird karaoke-related thing is the note from an admirer. but even _that_ can be explained away. the real question is why tf didn't she react to her friend's screams???
stalker is also another prevalent issue in Japan, so much so almost every serious tone school manga and anime have section involving stalkers.
the first song, her laughing and smiling the whole time is infections. i loved that sm. my favorite part of these games is hearing her experiences and reading the signs/info in Japanese. makes me want to learn myself (:

they could have easily remedied the situation with the drink by having you go to the bathroom, because then it's like, when you thought the drink was safe in the room, someone did something to it.

wow. that was horrifying! one of the best chilla's art games... i literally screamed when the coach found you in the toilet. so creepy. amazing story.... but i was angry at the main character cause whyyy would you eat the food! or drink the water? horrible, horrible idea. i also liked that they dubbed the characters. great job! :)

You don’t have to experience living in a dangerous area or know about men drugging women to realise that you should help your friend in distress or not eat/drink some random food… you brought your drink, why drink some drink you don’t remember getting? Or why not help your friend who’s clearly in some bad situation, there was no doubt something’s very wrong is going on with the friend. Very annoying

Nothing is scarier about this type of indie horror games than women being the main characters who are stalked and then assaulted by creepy men and perverts for their own pleasure. It's scarier to watch than paranormal-based storylines because it's real...
the voice acting in this game is so good and such a nice touch! i love the way chilla's art games have evolved. also that sneaking around section looked super hard. i was trying so hard to listen but it was hard to tell where he was. it's also not very forgiving if you make even the slightest mistake.
I finally had the opportunity to play a Chilla's Art game and my first one was The Karaoke. This game is an indie masterpiece, I know it's a simple one, but with such an important meaning. As a survivor of male violence, my first play with this game was not easy at all, but I couldn't hold myself until I got all the 6 endings and the game becomes even more interesting as long as we discover all the possible endings for it. There's so much to debate about it, and that's amazing! I'm studying to be a 3D artist for games, and I always thought with myself how cool it would be if a horror game showed something related to the terror that misoginy is, in a realistic way, and that's why The Karaoke is so meaningful to me. There's never a "right way" to survive or to go through those situations, and the game shows that in multiple ways. It's also an experience that can make people more sensitive to what we, as women, go through in this world that is so rude to us, every day. Like someone said in the coments: Being a woman - the horror game. It's just so genius! And I'm so happy that I closed the game with all the six endings! I ran to Gabs channel right when I finished the whole game so I could understand all the japanese phrases that had no subtitles xDDD and it's so interesting to see how the gamer girls are reacting to this game, so much in common and thoughts that are relatable about the walkthrough. Chilla's Art really impressed me on this one, in many different ways (from admiration to total getting terrified and wanting to quit like NOW hahaahaha)

This is one of the darkest and f*ck up horror game by Chilla's Art. Not even a horror game, the story is so messed up. What an amazing great game by them again! Chilla's Art game are always so good
I think this is one of Chilla's best games so far, up there with Closing Shift and Convenience Store. But this reminds me, since I know you like horror movies, have you seen a South Korean film Gokseong (The Wailing)? I saw it a couple weeks ago for the first time and it left a stronger impression on me then I think any other horror film I've seen. In fact it bothered me so much that I found myself going over some scenes again and again even in my sleep.
The Wailing is very beloved in the horror film community, you have good taste!!
taking the hardest test of my life thus far this upcoming saturday (LSAT, the american test to get into law school) and have been in pure pre exam panic mode, so being able to sit down and watch this video and hang out w fun gab japanese trivia was very much what i needed

I'm with Evelin 100%, no woman in their right mind, especially in this day and age, would eat or drink random food or drinks that showed up in the room. Granted, I think this game takes place in the early 2000s, just based on the flip phones. Most people don't use those nowadays. But also, no one ever said characters in horror media were smart. 🤣

If I first saw the game by myself, I might have not noticed that the characters at the beginning are different than the actual title. Glad I learned something new today! I also wanna say that I watch your playthroughs whenever I am working (as a tailor) and whenever I am drawing because you give a chill vibe to the gameplay!

Man, I have to say, this is the best Chilla's Art game I've seen so far! Gab's is so right, the 4 minute wait for the cops is so deeply terrifying, a realistic fear. Honestly, really cool, I'm gonna go back and give their other games another try
as much as i wanted to get mad at the character not helping her friend, from the perspective of a kid (and not one raised in my particular circumstances) i can understand not knowing how many red flags there were
not everyone is as aware of the dangers in the world or how to protect yourself. i mean it’s sad to even have to know *how* as a kid.
it’s a good message that at the end of the day even when you’re controlling the character and something bad happens, you’ll blame her still. when it’s no one’s fault but the man who did it. you can’t stop it, she can’t stop it.

Honestly I prefer your vids, Gab, so much that when I saw this game come out - I didn't watch any other playthrough until you played it. You just have such an awesome vibe especially when you play Chilla's Art games
this stream got me screaming at 1am in my room cause the topic hits way too close to home as a woman.
As always, the greatest horror stories are those which are seated closer to reality, and Chilla's Art seems to treat situations like these with sincerity.
Towards a lighter note, the translations of the posters and signs really helps towards getting immersed into the story, and the purple chinchilla on the right of the screen during the karaoke is amazing as yet another self-reference.
I love Chilla's Arts game because Gab being able to translate all the parts we miss haha!! You get so much more of the story / atmosphere!! (I also love her stories and hearing her talk in Japanese!!) Very cool
All of our natural instincts were kicking in lol. Not to drink the fountain drink, eat the snack, and wanting to stop playing the karaoke game 🙃🙃
I don't know if I feel relieved or just sad to hear that catcalling is a thing everywhere. Really wish it wasn't. It's a pretty scummy thing to do but it is so so common still.

I was so uncomfortable watching this it successfully made me feel grateful that I don't deal with people like these and rarely leave my room! It was a entertaining and disturbing game I enjoyed the translations a lot.

as someone who has been abused by a teacher, stalked, and roofied... this game hits the nail on the head. se*ual haras*ment and se*ual violence are terrifying, horrifying experiences and I appreciate Chilla's Art for depicting them so accurately and respectfully.
I remember when one of my good friends first learned what catcalling was and how creepy and gross it is (he’s a cis gay man). His immediate response was that he would flirt unapologetically with the cat caller to see how the guy liked a taste of his own medicine.

I tend to wear my earphones when in public, but if I am alone, I would only wear one in one ear.
I often got ナンパされた in Japan, which is where I learned how to ignore cat-calls when I returned to the US. although, one time I was with a Japanese friend in Japan, and some men tried to cat-call us while we were having drinks outside of a conbini. she replied to them in a monotone voice へーそうなの… without making eye contact (much like the staff woman in this game lol) and I thought that was SO COOL lol.
also! you probably noticed after filming: 予約 yoyaku 約束 yakusoku
although, reserving a song is basically like promising to sing it!
I love Chillas' art style and his ability to create games with situations that could and may have happened in real life. This first ending you got was a bit harder to digest compared to his previous games. Nevertheless, Chilla has an amazing skill for storytelling via video games. And you're my favourite person to watch play these! I watch other people play them too, but your reactions are a lot different than others, and it's easier for my ears to handle due to being hypersensitive and not being able to handle loud noises.
Two things, I love how chilla is so sensitive when it comes to stuff like this… as a person who suffered r*pe I respect them so much and I love Gab’s stories when she was in Japan I love it

The reality is: 1) They don't know where you are, 2) Don't ever come out, 3) They will absolutely hurt you
This is one of those moments where I'd be yelling "ghosts and your hellish portals where are you when I need you??!"
One thing to mention:
If you stab somebody they are still able to fight back (well depends where, in the neck maybe not so much...)

That is a... very unfortunate choice of words, considering the theme of this game :x
When I was in junior high in the early 00s (I was 12 or 13 years old), we went into the locker room once and the coach was sitting on a chair in the very back, around a corner. One girl always changed there so obviously she saw him and he left immediately and said that he was just taking a break (in the girls locker room? okay dude). Another time he said we couldn't use the locker room for some reason, but we were "welcome to change in [his] office." Another time, we were up on the stage in the gym and he conveniently swept the floor nearby the edge. He was bent low enough so we were worried that he was looking up our skirts. During flexibility training, he watched the girls way more than the boys.
A thing that makes Gab's videos so nice to watch with a cup of tea in bed is the fact her voice is nice in calm. I haven't seen a lot of your content Gab but in the videos I've seen you're so nice and chill and you dont yell everything like some youtubers 🤣 (no shade, I love loud youtubers, they're engaging and make me laugh 🤣 but more relaxed youtubers are the best to put on when winding down 🥰) Not to mention chillas art games perfectly combine cozy familiarity and japanese culture with a bit of horror, and your ways of translating stuff and letting us in on all the context and meaning of the japanese is really lovely, and I love when you talk about your own experiences in japan. Its making me get back into japanese, I used to study it in uni before switching to another degree and its nostalgic to revisit my love for the culture. All the best! 💗💗
