"That time I accidentally became the protagonist of my favorite horror game about a man searching for his allegedly living daughter" my favorite Isekai.
She kept asking when he signed his life away, giving them consent for the experiments, if entering the facility counted as consent, but after they talked about him not having any friends, and no family after his dad passed, and having trouble with jobs, it's pretty clear they picked him because they weren't going to ask for consent and didn't want someone who would be noticed missing.
Yeah I thought that was obvious. IDK what indicated he asked for it, she even asks "did he give consent on entering the room" and I'm thinking "...you just walked into the room and he clearly said nothing, nothing informed him of memory torture."
That twist was impressive! I saw exactly what happened with his family coming from a mile away, and was honestly debating about turning off because it was so cliche. But I'm glad I stuck around because I did not expect the rest!
Honestly this kind of plot is INCREDIBLY difficult to do correctly. When the big twist kicked in I was very skeptical very quickly, intrigued but skeptical. Honestly, I think they nailed it. It didn't feel like a let-down or an "it was all just a dream" kind of twist. Especially when you notice things like the laundromat being the tent he goes through by the fallen tree, and all the other little details it doesn't feel cheesy or half-assed. (slight potential spoilers below?) I also really like that even in the circus storyline he wasn't just a generic horror game "bad dad", there was some very genuine tragedy and complexity. Even if that had been the extent I would have been satisfied.
I also love the questions that are left. Makes me wonder abut the world, the experiments, how everything works with the memories and if the subjects have still free will or are fully subjected to he written srorrylines which would explain the difference in morals and actions because I think he would've never killed anyone without being forced.
@@FuriosasWarRig I don't know if it is fun for you to talk to people like that or if you are that miserable that you have to be so mean to compensate your own feelings. I hope you get better soon if you are notnfeeling well! And if you are just an asshole, lol, sad.
They had me in the first half. I was about to complain about the killing-his-family thing, saw how much time was still left in the video, and thought it seemed kind of early for that to be the big reveal. Especially because there were a couple times where he commented that it didn't seem like something he would have done. I was not expecting the turn that it did take, though.
44:54 as someone who has depersonalization....I cannot explain how much I relate to that feeling :') sometimes I forget what the layout of my house is when I'm not walking through it.
I also really loved that this game immediately established the protagonist was having vivid dreams and/or hallucinations, and therefore all the stuff being "dream logic" and working based off narratives instead of actual logic (train engine suddenly about to explode! obviously correct action is to try and depressureize it! don't think about it too much!) really worked in terms of just letting us soak directly in the symbolism of whatever was going on. Really well done!
Depressurizing it actually IS how you keep it from "exploding." If it doesn't have a dangerous level of internal pressure, it can't explode. That's how explosions work. Take a bullet apart and dump the powder on your driveway, and use a match to set it on fire, compare what happens to "firing a bullet." One is combustion, the other is a combustion explosion. One has low pressure, the other has high pressure. There was no dream logic in the remedial actions taken.
Sorry, professor Trelawney, I didn't know reading made my soul old as the pages of my books. Also, it's not like a horror game about teenagers on a literature club was trending just 7 years ago, not enough for a 13 year old at the time to feel, well... old.

What a twist, dang! 🤯I already liked this game when the plot was "just" a normal indie horror story, but then it kicked up to eleven in the second half. Really impressive, I love it. 👍Plus the graphics were top-notch. Also, Gab didn't notice this but [SPOILERS ahead - SPOILERS ahead - SPOILER warning] ... Skuld, Urd and Verdandi are the three Norns of Norse mythology, similar to the three Fates of Greek/Roman myth. So that's what the departments are named after. Imo the protagonist was definitely captured against his will, the scouting documents read like this Norn corporation or organisation was looking for people who wouldn't be missed because they're socially isolated. Which makes sense, given that brainwashing people like that would not pass an ethics panel... The world-building in this is very cool, I'll definitely find a video with the other endings. I'm wondering what the things was that briefly entered our FOV in the first ("de-imprinting") ending. It looked like part of some machine flipping down maybe, which makes me wonder if the protagonist truly escaped... Or maybe he just put on a baseball cap and we saw the visor of that, haha. But I suspect something more sinister.
As an artist and someone who was an art teaher, I can see how on the kid's sketchbook we have some very intentional scribbles, it's crearly from someone who know what they're doing trying to make it look chaotic, not at all from a hild. I was thinking this while you were playing and especially at the end since we find out how many times he went through it but reveal would show something but they spell it reveil which Google says means " to cover again or conceal with or as if with a veil." So if he chooses family it's reveil bc he's covering his eyes to the truth.
Fun facts: "Urðr, which means “what once was”, Verðandi “what is coming into being”, and Skuld “what shall be” are three female beings, called Norns, who create and control fate in Norse mythology. Also there was a popular anime/manga called "Oh! My Goddess" ああっ女神さまっ VERY loosely based off of the Norse mythology. 1:00:38 I’ve had to learn to stop doing this recently as well. My thing is salmon, I can’t stand it. But I always said ‘well, maybe one day I’ll find a way I like it’. But now, at almost 33, I’m like, no, I don’t like salmon and that’s ok. I don’t have to like it, I don’t owe it to anyone to like it, and I shouldn’t have to feel the need to try something I already know I won’t like as I’ve never liked it~ ❤️
I have the exact opposite problem, where I feel the need to justify and quantify every single thing I like, even mundane things, it can be so exhausting so I totally get how that could work as well, and sometimes I find myself overjustifying my dislikes too.
@@HiddenDarkHM I feel this so much, I used to be a people pleaser who had to always have a reason (and had friends who sometimes demanded one) and would over explain due to fear of being misunderstood. Fawning became my trauma response, and over explaining is probably a mix of that and the autism 🙃
I can’t remember a lot of my childhood due to trauma, only bits and pieces some good some bad but most are blocked out when I try to remember so it’s understandable what the main guy is going through
Gentle reminder to anyone reading' that not remembering much of one's childhood isn't a sign of trauma in itself, as it can be assigned to how one's brain processes stuff in general.
Pretty sure Liam accidentally went back into the loop when he escaped the first time, not purposefully. He was irrational and violent due to the memory implanting process frying his brain, so he killed everyone then hastily tried to remove the memories not knowing the disc was set to have him repeat those memories. If you look at the emails about worried people trying to contact dead researchers and the lockdown notices, it seems that he escaped first August 20th and escaped the second time August 29th. With the returning knowledge that the machine was already used by him so something must not have worked, him remembering his maddened state when he went in, and him no longer being in that maddened state, he's able to think more rationally the second time and discover you need certain discs to truly leave if the player finds them. I also think that there's only one happy ending for this game because no matter what you do or how long you've managed to survive there (16 years), the brain damage was catching up to Liam. The same brain damage killed everyone else before and after him. So escape without removing memories? Dead, your brain is too far gone to survive making it past the front door. Return to the loop for your 87th cycle? Dead, you see the Martha creature in bed when she shouldn't be there because you were already dying from the 86th, your mind breaks at this additional cycle. Use the happy memory disc? Again, Martha creature is there because the next cycle breaks the camels back, dead.
Seeing the thumbnail I thought it was yet another mascot horror game with a mad clown chasing you, then a well made psychological horror that awkwardly tries to justify its protagonist murdering his family, but all of this was turned upside down to reveal (or should I say reveil) its true nature. There's still plenty of mystery surrounding this Norn corporation and its relations to north mythology, Urd, Verdandi and Skuld being the aformentioned three norns which preside over the Past, Present and Future respectively. We get a glimpse of the departments with the memory rewriting thing, but there are unanswered questions for another game in this universe in my opinion. Not sure the good ending is that good too with the weird effect at the end (you get to hear some more phrases in the background in the happinness ending showing Norn is still after the player).
(Spoils) The devs really need to be commended for this one. It starts off as your regular walking simulator horror game with a cliché story you see from a mile away, only for it to completely change the very nature of the game. When you leave the experiment, you see several different experiments levels that were designed and they were all standard walking sim/cliché horror stories, the game's commenting on the nature of its own genre without being too meta to be enjoyable. And the twist is not out of left field even though unexpected, the scratches on the wall, the ever changing scenery at home and the rumbling noises are all recontextualized. Even the cardboard fire in the elevator is first percieved as a quirky way to show our protag is descending into hell while looking like carnival decorations. Later you realize it's because they probably couldn't use actual fire for the elevator level. The narrator towards the beginning who recites the fake story of our protag's life isn't just there to recount the narrative they want you to believe, he is making you _choose_ the memories from the context clues you've gathered so far. You're punished for choosing wrong because you can't create the story, but it's still easier to internalize them as your own thoughts and memories when you're the one who answers.
I caught the last 40 minutes of this stream and ended up watching the vod yesterday with my wife- I had NO IDEA it was the same game until about 5 minutes before where I'd started in steam!! Insane game
I was literally thinking that the story premise wasn’t interesting enough to last 3 whole hours. Boy have I never been more wrong, that ending was awesome
Unexpected twist and deep lore aside, on my second watch of this playthrough trying to look for early clues for the plot twist, I just wanna appreciate the little detail where Zohan was actually helpful 🤣On 19:38, Zohan mentioned that a "long drive over the hill" is what "Walter" needed to help his search. After girlbossing through the motorcycle minigame, Gab got the achievement for completing that long drive called "King of the Hill". Cheeky.
I love watching your videos every time I watch one of your videos I’m relaxed and calm Thursday last week I had experienced my first panic attack so I’m trying to keep myself relaxed and calm your videos help a lot to keep me relaxed and calm so thank you ❤😊
This was absolutely amazing!!!!! I was hooked from the start! And as soon as we think we know what's going on thwy throw another twist in there!!! ❤❤❤❤🎉
1:48:25 Same, Gab, same!! I don't think any of us saw it coming, and I love it! So cool!! Edit: Ok, now I finished the video and I gotta say, it really blew me away; it might be my favorite indie game of the year so far just because of the twist and everything that happened after that
I made the mistake of going to a Halloween event at King's Island with a college friend. This guy dressed as a clown wouldn't stop following me. He also happened to be a mime as well as a clown so doubly creepy. I had asked them to stop because they were freaking me out but apparently they thought that was them doing their job? Then a second clown showed up and I finally said that I respected they were at their job but there were plenty of other people here and I didn't feel fun scared but close to panic attack scared. They left me alone after that. I don't think it's normal to enjoy the presence of clowns.
The club with all the cardboard cut outs reminded me of Dau, this Russian cult-like movie franchise (cult as in high control group, not beloved), and there's stories about people going to interviews but it turns out to be a dark building full of mannequins with only a couple real people
Before knowing Gabs you got scare of any moving thing. After Gabs you also smile and giggles when paranormal activity/jumpscares shows up 😂😂❤ Wow, that left turn blow my mind 😮 Here i though it was a psycological/demon theme. Awesome and yet more creepy story, excellent gameplay, Eve. 😊❤
15 minutes in and probably within the first 5 minutes, I have concluded that either he's dead or his wife and child are dead and he hasn't been able to properly cope with that
This game remind me a lot of movies called escape room. There are 2 of them. I think you would like them! 😊It has a big cooperation who send people boxes with a similar symbol to the one in this game! with a similar symbol to the one in this game! and a chance to win money. They are unaware they are test subjects in a sick game. The rooms are insanely rigged like those moving boxes in this game! They look like real environments that are fake!
At about the halfway part, I thought this game was going to make me sympathize with a person who kidnapped their own kid away from the other parent, and tbh I was on board, I was like, this is some wackadoo child labor stuff, and then he opted for murder??? And I was like...there are other solutions to this problem, though...DID NOT EXPECT THAT TWIST. Like, damn, unethical scientists, you gotta clearly establish that there are no other OPTIONS for this guy before he leaps to murder that somehow inexplicably becomes murder + manslaughter. Most people won't just jump there! Of course he had trouble making those memories make sense! They're poorly written!
It kinda reminds me of the horror game, the park, a game that Markiplier played on his channel many many years ago, that I have yet to see re-created sense(vibe wise that is) I think Gab would really enjoy playing it
I haven't finished watching, so I'm sure if this was mentioned. But did anyone else notice that Liam's apartment in Chinatown is almost the exact same as the apartment in The Convenience Store game by Chilla's Art? I'm sure it's just the same/similar asset, but it felt worthy enough to point out.
My new least favorite genre of horror games is: The real horror is trauma/mental illness. Just as my eyes were rolling, this game switched it up and completely subverted my expectations! Such a pleasant surprise!
The logo reminded me of abstergo haha The mix voice actor and the “requirements” from the paper somehow made me think if this was real it would happen to my neighbour Definitely matches some of the reasons why 7 was chosen
The only gripe I have about this game, while the voice actor is good, he sighs and grunts more than any man I've ever heard in my life in just about every sentence lol
6:04 YT house doesn't like copyright games too (funfact a lot of the revenue going on the game publishers so YT will force to upload only sponsored and private uploads) 11:15 i was watching the stream and I hear screaming I run to see what made her scream "chup" 2 ads started playing 21:10 I had this game 37:40 😂😂😂 1:35:00 you hitting Bell's I think crouch walk works only when is close
at first, i though this was just another bad dad pt layers of fear simulator with circus clown theme. but then it turns out this game feels more like at the level of doki doki literature club project libitina scp matrix inception portal lab test conspiracy horror.
1:52:51 oh god, Gab, don't do that to me, I am about to watch that movie for the very first time!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm watching this video of yours as I wait for my dad to get here! What are the odds, of all films, you had to compare this game to Total Recall? I mean, if you say so, then it probably is very similar (thx for the spoilers btw lol) but damn, I'm shocked! P.S. Liam Kennely? Might as well be Liam S. Kennely lol
I want to see the happy life ending so bad, but I can't find any other playthroughs. A google search doesn't even turn up a Wikipedia page for this game so I can't even read what happens.
I don't know if I'm allowed to recommend other streamers, but I actually first saw it played through all five endings: the hardest one to get is the Good Life one because you have to load an earlier checkpoint if you missed the disk: everything else can be done right in the machine room. Insym got it in his Twitch run, but I don't know if it's in his Vods channel yet.
did no one else catch the date of log 1 vs the current date??? he was trapped in that loop for SIXTEEN years
Holy cow! I didn't even notice that and that makes it even wilder. Good catch!
26:05 - The game: _die...!_
me: haha, or "the" in german
Gab: haha, or "the" in german
Some Rache vs Rachel stuff. If you know you know.
His first mistake was being a horror game protagonist and naming his child an anagram of 'or die'
"That time I accidentally became the protagonist of my favorite horror game about a man searching for his allegedly living daughter"
my favorite Isekai.
His second mistake was not keeping people's attention long enough to learn he doesn't have a daughter and didn't name anyone.

I was curious, because my first thought was: "Is Chris Parnell voicing indie horror games now?!"
Reminded me a lot of the voice actor from The Beast Inside... Could it be the same guy?
Okay, just checked and yes, it's totally the same guy!
It makes sense why he had 2 voices, his "Walter" voice, and his "thoughts" voice, now! I kept thinking that was odd! Gah! I love this!

This game really suprised me, glad you played it. Love the videos keep up the good work!
Not sure the good ending is that good too with the weird effect at the end (you get to hear some more phrases in the background in the happinness ending showing Norn is still after the player).
off only the first 15 minutes or so, this game seems to give BIGGG What Remains of Edith Finch vibes which I am LOVING
i've been watching so much of your content lately and wanted to say thank you so much for what you do
She is so wholesome and really, really beautiful. Love her!
Finding the mannequin parts in the workshop was like reading the old school “I Spy” books. Even got the spooky theme edition.
The Chinese says something like "Golden Tailors", basically a tailor shop sign :D
Dude this game took a turn I did not expect!!!! This was amazing ❤❤
Oh cool new content... Oh, I watched the livestream. May check it out later, just to see the editorial choices that were made.
It's worth it just for them adding the circus music when Gab starts singing it lol
2:24:20 I like how the image on the wall changed to look like interlocking scissors.
My mom and I really enjoyed this game and its plot twist. We really enjoy watching your playthroughs.
You're punished for choosing wrong because you can't create the story, but it's still easier to internalize them as your own thoughts and memories when you're the one who answers.
i’m watching this high as a kite and i have NO idea what’s going on and i can’t decide if it made the video more enjoyable or more terrifying
39:05 I’m thinking she drowned, in the mirror maze there was water sounds, and then dorie said she wanted to go to the lake
The developers of this game used to make like them park ride games. Huge step up.
I swear you always play the most interesting and mind crazy games! And god, don’t I enjoy watching you play them
I caught the last 40 minutes of this stream and ended up watching the vod yesterday with my wife- I had NO IDEA it was the same game until about 5 minutes before where I'd started in steam!! Insane game
I really love that you explain after you read something in your own words what you read ❤ I often struggle to understand what I read haha
I was literally thinking that the story premise wasn’t interesting enough to last 3 whole hours. Boy have I never been more wrong, that ending was awesome
yesss i love the long videos! this is better than tv
Cheeky.
I love watching your videos every time I watch one of your videos I’m relaxed and calm Thursday last week I had experienced my first panic attack so I’m trying to keep myself relaxed and calm your videos help a lot to keep me relaxed and calm so thank you ❤😊
Is that the voice actor from Killer Frequency? Anyway, great game and playthrough!
He does sound familiar.
His name is Brian Roberts ❤
Ahhhhh that's why he sounded so familiar, I love his voice.
Yeah he is in numerous horror games, especially indie ones
Hi Gab, I just wanted to say that the machines at 1:41:01 looks like MRI scanners. Also love your videos, keep it up girl!
This was absolutely amazing!!!!! I was hooked from the start! And as soon as we think we know what's going on thwy throw another twist in there!!! ❤❤❤❤🎉
1:48:25 Same, Gab, same!! I don't think any of us saw it coming, and I love it! So cool!!
Edit: Ok, now I finished the video and I gotta say, it really blew me away; it might be my favorite indie game of the year so far just because of the twist and everything that happened after that
I was hooked throughout the whole thing, its really hard to come by games like this these days.
POV: There is no war in Ba Sing Se.
I have enjoyed this game with the chat hope the other people will play it too
The club with all the cardboard cut outs reminded me of Dau, this Russian cult-like movie franchise (cult as in high control group, not beloved), and there's stories about people going to interviews but it turns out to be a dark building full of mannequins with only a couple real people
I am so blown away! I think my jaw has been dropped for like 15 minutes!
Before knowing Gabs you got scare of any moving thing.
After Gabs you also smile and giggles when paranormal activity/jumpscares shows up 😂😂❤
Wow, that left turn blow my mind 😮 Here i though it was a psycological/demon theme. Awesome and yet more creepy story, excellent gameplay, Eve. 😊❤
I forgot i watch this aready on stream. The whole time i was woundering why it sounded so familiar. 😅
This is me ALL the time lool
I was in the same boat thinking this was the usual indie horror story and then went WHUUU when the twist hit 😂
If you’re scrolling through the comments at the beginning of the video and are confused, don’t worry, because so were we.
This somewhat reminds me of SOMA. Now I wanna rewatch that let's play.
It kinda reminds me of the horror game, the park, a game that Markiplier played on his channel many many years ago, that I have yet to see re-created sense(vibe wise that is) I think Gab would really enjoy playing it
Gabs ability to predict things right before they happen in games is absolutely baffling to me every time
This was such a fun stream and great game! I really enjoyed all of it. Stunning visuals as well.
Loved the live stream, very good game and Gab being cute and funny as always :)
She is so beautiful inside and out!
I already watched the livestream of this but I will still watch this 'cause it's good! 🌟
My new least favorite genre of horror games is: The real horror is trauma/mental illness. Just as my eyes were rolling, this game switched it up and completely subverted my expectations! Such a pleasant surprise!
The logo reminded me of abstergo haha
The mix voice actor and the “requirements” from the paper somehow made me think if this was real it would happen to my neighbour
Definitely matches some of the reasons why 7 was chosen
The only gripe I have about this game, while the voice actor is good, he sighs and grunts more than any man I've ever heard in my life in just about every sentence lol
this would make such a cool horror movie!! SOMEONE DO THE THING!!!
6:04 YT house doesn't like copyright games too (funfact a lot of the revenue going on the game publishers so YT will force to upload only sponsored and private uploads)
11:15 i was watching the stream and I hear screaming I run to see what made her scream "chup" 2 ads started playing
21:10 I had this game 37:40 😂😂😂
1:35:00 you hitting Bell's I think crouch walk works only when is close
This was an amazing game! I love the twists and I definetly need to kne the other endings.
Wow amazing game❤ And the ending scared me so much lol And killing the researchers is so valid, lol
Will you play 'lies of P' Gabby? Its a fairytale (pinocchio) souls-like game
im surprised she hasn’t played it yet, it definitely seems like a game she’d enjoy!
@@thesmartkookie9961admittedly that game is wayyyyyy too long for her youtube.
@@thesmartkookie9961 There wasn't a lot of noise so it may have slipped through, but I hope one day she gives it a chance :)
First time ever watching a video within the first minute of an upload lol
Omg congratulations it feels so good 😂
at first, i though this was just another bad dad pt layers of fear simulator with circus clown theme. but then it turns out this game feels more like at the level of doki doki literature club project libitina scp matrix inception portal lab test conspiracy horror.
If you do not like a good ball race regardless of your age, go watch a good ball race, they are as epic as you want them to be.
Kennely lol
Watched the live stream now I’m in for the edit!!!
The game is looking so cool and Gab is extra cute in this video.
I was sure I recognised that voice from a TV show, or it's at least SUPER similar, and it's driving me insane that I can't think who
Someone mentioned that he sounds like the dude from Killer Frequency, but I haven’t googled it yet
I think with some minor tweaks, this game could be made to fit into the SOMA universe.
Ooo like a prequel or kinda midquel? I could absolutely see that.
