I'm willing to bet the next Tool album memes that will rise out of the wake of the new album's release will be about how instead of waiting 10,000 days for the next release, it'll be doubled to 20,000. That or it'll be memes about people in the year 3000 asking when the next album will drop in some Futurama styled meme with the band members heads in jars, ha.

I'm lucky person. I discovered Tool in 2016. So for me it only feels like they're on hiatus for 2 years now.

Lol, you guys are lucky, I've gotta say. I was 16 when 10,000 Days dropped back in '06, bought it the day it came out on CD from my local record store, lol. I consider myself to be a patient dude, but I'm hoping to hear the new album before I turn 30, haha

I've been rocking 10,000 Days hard lately.. You can leave a Tool album for years and come back in a new mindframe or stage of life and hear it in an entirely different way.
When the new one comes out, it comes out, I don't want things rushed on something I will still listen to in 30 years time. Until then, thank fuck for the epic albums they have released so far.

I had managed to forget about TTP up until now. Back in the ice bath. Anyway, all of that material wound up (on Keenans side) in APC, and Reznor filtered his material into With Teeth.

only a band as awesome as Tool could still do their old stuff live, and burn down the barn. timeless badassery that still holds as the high bar for anyone to produce music of this level. they just keep getting better every time. the cgi art in their vids is always off the hook, and perfectly mate to the song. god i can't wait for this new release!
My journey with Tool began in 2007 and they have always been fresh. To imagine it might still feel fresh in 20 years is thrilling.

Every time they say "later this year," or "hopefully in May", I automatically add 10,000 days and I figure that's when we might get a new album. Then I secretly despise anyone who asks when the album will be out. Just want to go to sleep and wake up when the album drops. Like Rip Van Winkle.

As much as I want to believe it'll be out by May, I really can't bring myself to have that much faith in it. It takes time and I understand that but DC has said a number of times over the last few years that they'd definitely have it out by X date and it's always fallen flat. My hopes are in the second half of the year, September or October time. I feel like that's more realistic considering the ball's actually rolling along now.
Funny thing is though, this time it isn't just Danny saying it, he confirmed what Justin said earlier in the year.
I guess I'd be surprised if we get our hands on it before Oct--early December.

I'm just gonna have a cautious optimism about this. Honestly, patience is key when it comes to this situation, and if what we're seeing being said is true, then fantastic, if not, oh well. I will be a little truthful and say that I'll be happy when I can finally hear what the Descending teaser track leads into when the album eventually drops. To me, it almost seems like it's leading into a Lateralus or Vicarious style intro. Which is probably why that track has driven me nuts, because every time they play it, you can tell it's leading to a heavy breakdown, but they cut it off right before that crescendo comes. It's almost like the musical equivalent of a chick teasing you and riling you up before leaving you with blue balls, lmao. So I am eager to hear what's on the other side of that proverbial mountain top.

So maynard has just confirmed in his twitter that theres no new tool album, especialy this summer... I love tool for what they've done, and the shit it helped me get through, not for the hopes of a new album. I'm sure most of us, tool fans, feel this way, especially since it has been 12 years of the same bs about a new album.

I've never understood why some fans act like the band owes them something. The members of tool have families and other obligations. You have to respect that. If it takes them 12 years to record an album, it takes them 12 f'n years. Jeez...

My god this month we've received so much news...and this is only the first. We probably have another 4 or 8 before the album drops.
So Danny believes in Spring 2018? Maynard said the way the industry works albums usually release in Spring or Fall. I was hoping for Fall 2018 but hey, go for it! I can't wait! But touring will happen towards the end of the year, right? Maybe next year seeing as A Perfect Circle are releasing their album this year and touring is already planned.

ITA Aran Parlo in italiano dato che ci capiamo ahah, lui ha detto "out", out vuol dire rilasciato quando in riferimento a un disco, quindi non saprei. Magari intendeva finito come dici tu, anche perché manca ancora la scrittura delle lyrics e la registrazione che porterà via 3 o 4 mesi (Danny ha detto che lui di solito ci mette due o tre settimane a registrare, Justin di solito due e Adam 2 mesetti per via di tutti gli strati di chitarra, mentre maynard è piuttosto svelto). Ipotizzo che per evitare leak, se ne escano con la notizia giusto una settimana prima del rilascio, un po' come hanno fatto i Radiohead con in rainbows e Kendrick Lamar con DAMN., dato che con 10000 days furono molto delusi dai leak.
The Batman il problema è che noi diamo per scontato che maynard ci metta poco. Per me maggio2018 è impossibile: pensa solo al fatto che una volta applicati i testi alle canzoni, magari va cambiata qualche nota o qualche layer ecc, quindi devono rimetterci mano e addio altri 8 mesi. Bisogna capire se per "music is done" intendono che hanno lavorato assieme già CON MAYNARD dentro, e quindi l'unica cosa che rimane da fare è mettere la voce..mi auguro di sì! E spero tanto che maynard abbia pronte le lyrics, non so come funziona ma immagino un songwriter abbia centinaia e centinaia di testi "pronti". Chissà
Cristiano Maretti Maggio 2018 sembra impossibile anche per me, ma comunque maynard sta già lavorando da un po' al materiale, Danny ha detto che loro consegnano il materiale molto complesso a maynard e lui lo semplifica per scrivere delle melodie che siano orecchiabili come lo sono sempre state quelle dei Tool. Quindi immagino che ci stia lavorando già da tempo. Inoltre maynard è abbastanza svelto nel suo lavoro di solito, ma anche secondo me Danny ha sbagliato a parlare la, o c'è stato un fraintendimento. Però chissà, magari esce davvero prima di allora. Spero però che non accelerino proprio in questo tratto finale sacrificando la qualità, sarebbero davvero 12 anni buttati
