Dr. McFadden did my face. I can not say enough about the skin resurfacing. I get comments about my skin all the time. I no longer have to wear makeup. My skin tone is even with a natural glow.
These explanations about the procedure, the possible effects, the differences for different skin types, even without showing images, give me hope of good results. From what I understand the mini lift could be my solution.
I find your video very helpful. Thank you for your time. Are there any advantages on choosing a plastic surgeon who specializes in doing just facial cosmetic surgery? Is there usually a better result?
Hi Renee, This is a misunderstood concept. Clearly, one SHOULD be better at a particular procedure if they do more of them, but I've found in my experience that is not always the case. What is always true is that if a surgeon is extremely meticulous with one procedure, he will be the same with other procedures as well. The other issue to consider with facelifts is that facelift is just the surgical portion of the correction. Surgery will never correct skin quality by itself, such as laser resurfacing or at least radio frequency procedures. One must ALWAYS do something to improve the skin quality. Otherwise, you will only get half of the result that you desire.
There seems to be a lot of interest in deep plane facelifts recently. For historical perspective, this is a procedure not widely accepted in plastic surgery circles for the last 20 to 30 years. For some reason, certain less than truthful surgeons are now promoting it as the best technique ever. Problems with the deep plane technique include: 1. It has a fair amount of subcutaneous undermining so the claim that it is tension free on the skin is not true. 2. It doesn’t address retinacular ligament extension in the subcutaneous plane except for the amount of subcutaneous undermining, which is limited. 3. By itself, it doesn’t do anything to rejuvenate skin quality. The last two are clear failures to obtain optimal and durable results missing 50% of the potential result and will lead to early recurrence of laxity and unsatisfactory result sooner than later.
My wife had a mid face facelift meaning not the forehead done in Malaysia.and lower and upper Bleps. We had to stay for two weeks and she had a nurse visit her most days at our hotel. Stiches were taken out on day 14. She was miserable for the first 7 days but even Co2 laser treatment will be like this too. She got the numbness on her jaw line up to her earlobes and it took years to totally disapear but it never bothered her. Its been 11 years now and she still looks great at 63. No regrets, but she wants the Co2 laser done for skin resurfacing and fine lines and wrinkles.
For skin resurfacing, we offer laser resurfacing. The laser resurfacing is comparable to the CO2 laser, but it requires less downtime! If you would like to learn more or to schedule an appointment give us a call! (864) 242-3223
Of course! You're welcome. We always try to be as transparent with our patients as possible in terms of results, discomfort, downtime, if someone's a good candidate or not, etc.
I am confused as to what you said about not favoring deep plane facelifts. I am a 65 year old woman who has rather severe nasolabial folds and some laxity in general in the lower part of my face. I desperately want to FINALLY get rid of the nasolabial folds or at least greatly lessen the effect they have on my face. I have waited for years for surgery, so I would like to know why you may believe the deep plane facelift would not be for me so I will be more informed on which facelift would be the best solution for me. Thank you in advance for your kind reply, and thank you for this informative video.
That is what a facelift will do, it will pull and lift your skin, and remove nasolabial, and remove wrinkles. Hence the word faceLIFT, do it! Best wishes

Dr. If a person needs to address to address upper facial aging with a brow and mid face lift can they have lower face and neck addressed later in life or it will interfere with upper facelift? Does a mid and full face lift/neck lift use the same incision lines?
I'm glad lazer was mentioned, I know they work. My sister & I, are 2 years apart. We both worked outdoors. She's not just 2 yrs older, she's always looked substantially older, & had deep wrinkles in her face, by 35. She had laser a few times, and it wipes 10 years off her face! It really did! Now, I'm 47, she's about to turn 50. She STILL looks younger, than I. Lol. I could probably get something done. 😅

Doctor you said that a mini facelift doesn't have anything supporting it so is it just a skin lift? Also what supports a full face lift? Is it the myofascial?
To clarify, any type of surgical procedure is meant to resuspend the fascial tissue Surrounding the muscle to a different level and hopefully that is where the tissue overall used to be positioned. It is a restoration process. Surgery does not correct wrinkles or improve skin quality. Laser, resurfacing and radio frequency procedures do that. I hope that answers your question.

Double concentric purse string suture technique anchored to the periosteum of the zygomatic arch. It is most certainly the best fixation/anchoring technique for durability. We also believe strongly that one must treat the skin quality as well. Otherwise you’re missing half of your result. This is a philosophy of total facial rejuvenation. In other words, a laser or radio frequency technique at a minimum must be done following the operation if you don’t treat the skin, you don’t treat the skin.
The SMAS layer, or submuscular aponeurotic system, is the fascia that envelops the muscles of the face. There are various facelift techniques including SMAS, high SMAS, SMASectomy, deep plane facelift and plication techniques. Mini facelift techniques can vary highly from surgeon to surgeon. Their effectiveness and durability also very highly from surgeon to surgeon. I have used all of the techniques. Personally I don't find a deep plane facelift very advantageous. A true deep plane facelift has a very extended recovery. There is a possibility of asymmetry (uneveness) and it doesn't do anything to improve the quality of the skin. We believe in a total facial rejuvenation concept whether you're having a mini facelift or a full facelift technique.

I had a full facelift recently. Im not super impressed, honestly. I'm only 43 so i wasn't expecting too much, but for all these scars...results are underwhelming. I feel like one side got pulled way tighter. One of my ears is messed up now. I still have nasolabial lines, even though they were minor pre-surgery, they seem untouched. Sigh. I went to an expensive surgeon with great reviews. Just not worth it.
All surgeon's work and results are different, but we're sorry to hear about your experience with a face lift. At ACS, our doctors sit down with the patient and discuss what would be best for their skin and conditions. Typically we don't suggest facelifts for patients under 50 years old as they are often not ideal candidates. Facelifts can be worth it to a lot of people and has been for our patients. Thank you for sharing and we wish you the best!
Thank you for a great explanation of the different types. Regarding the risks you mentioned; What would be the symptoms of a sensory nerve damage? Would it be temporary?
Symptoms of sensory nerve damage would include numbness, tingling, shooting pains. Most of the time, they are temporary and extremely rarely they are permanent.

Hi, Capri. It depends. Usually, it's not a problem. You will need to first get medical clearance from your primary care doctor or Neurologist and discuss with he or she if this procedure is right for you. Then, schedule a consultation, either with us or with a plastic surgeon you trust. During the consultation, the surgeon will go over all the potential side effects and risks associated with mini facelift for patients who have MS. The risks are typically more related to the recovery process rather than the actual procedure itself. Patients with MS can heal differently. We wish you the best in your surgical journey!
