- Guided tour on the floor below.
Air transport is important for the society. We often transport medicine and essential components for the industry, that needs to be brought quickly between continents or countries. Without this @sascargo industries stop and people loose their jobs. So I look forward to start flying to China again, bringing passengers and cargo to where it is needed.
It’s a tough time now but we continue to fly as much as we can. We will make our company survive during this crisis and we will be there for you when this is over.
I recorded this video in Washington recently because I had some time over. Join me and I’ll show you something you normally never see! 😉👍🏼
This takes the term "cloud storage" to a whole new level.
Amazing !
I'm amazed at how much equipment is down there and that you can get to the cargo area.
lmfaoo probably has a shitty ass linux OS running the lagging inflight entertainment system which most of us say "what a waste of crap"
@@SuburbanDon I'm guessing the reason for the door to the forward cargo bay is probably to make it easier for ground crews to transport large things in and out of the avionics compartment
that was literally "you don't see this everyday" kind of stuff.
But he can 😂
@@flightsimulatoraddict9102 Don't think pilots go to the E&E bay everyday. It is the maintenance technician's home.
macieksoft sorry

I knew airplanes had computers, but I would have never imagined they had full on servers down there. It seems like a data center. I wonder what each computer is in charge of and if all the computers are linked up to the Black Box?
Each person on board able to stream there own movie from some of those racks of servers. It's not all instrument panel computers.
OmegaPoint042 Interesting. Because I was only thinking of instrumental panel computers that it didn’t even occur to me that some of those racks were designated to the passengers and their entertainment tablets/screens (at least the airplanes/airlines that do offer that).
The in flight entertainment system server is probably only 1 of those boxes. All of the computers down there control everything from the flight controls to the air conditioning. And yes, pretty much all of the computers down there are connected to the flight data recorder.
Halcyon Outlander Ha! Probably at a super low clockspeed, too! :p
JuanLeMod the IFE racks are in the rear cargo Bay Area, this area is full of CPIOM’s, switches and batterys! The beauty of the a350 is there is a lot less wiring. The 787 is covered in wiring!
Being a flight nurd that watch a lot of flights and airplane videos and I think this little video is the most interesting I have ever seen. 👏🏻👍
Hans Bjorkman 🙏🏼 😊
Same here
I read it as "flight turd" lmao.
👍✨
@@izzad777 😂😂
Wow, it really looks like a data centre at my workplace, never would have crossed my mind that it would be an Airbus
Sure man, I thought the same!
gee, modern airliners are flying data centers!?
It looks like the radio transmitter room on a Navy warship.
Andre Barrett me too !!
All that fly by wire computer stuff. One bug and it’s curtains.
It's amazing how everything is so well organized, every piece fits together, the little hatch door with a ladder, the electronics all carefully placed on the shelving, numbers on the panels in the cargo area. The amount of thought that went into it is so apparent. Modern aircraft are really engineering marvels!
Agree. Everything is logically organized and many pieces are also interchangeable or redundant, like contactors.
"So dude, what kind of gaming rig you got?"
Lol
A350 flight simulator.
Enough to keep this 280 ton airbus A350 40,000ft in the sky without Mother Nature bringing her down.
Me: “It’s complicated.”
lmfaooo its highly advance but runs only 5 fps games
That's crazy, never thought there would be so many electronics there.
imagine dropping a cup of coffee through all of that equipment.
@@kazedcat 4Th of July Fire Works For Sure
kazedcat TM there's enough redundancy that it wouldnt be an issue
Wow. That's incredible. I knew the computers and electrics and stuff had to be somewhere, but never in a thousand years would I think there would be a whole compartment full of it below the cockpit. Thank you for sharing this.
It's looks like rack in datacenter, impressive !
In fact!
It basically *is* a datacenter.
Sooo much is being communicated through there.
That’s a marvel of engineering!
More like a marvel of coding these days
Yes and not american thank god
This is actually mind blowing. When I saw the thumbnail of the cargo hold in my recommended I didn’t expect to be seeing all that tech
I've watched aviation videos literally everyday for years, and I've never seen this area. Incredibly cool to discover something new!
Really nice! Never thought you could access the cargo hold that way.
I now wonder if this could be a new way for someone to hijack a plane... Somehow sneak into the cargo area (I know, not easy!) then open the door to the avionics area then into the cockpit.. The doors don't look as tough as the main door between the cockpit and the cabin.
@@diliff in some 777 you even have access to the fwd cargo bay through a hatch within the cabin and from there you can acces the avionics bay
@@diliff yeah youre right and if you watch carefully you can spot the narrow gap between the ceiling and the door which you could utilize by using some kind of tool to open the door handle from the other side. The hatch to the cockpit also looks very easy to open from below as it isnt locked you could just flip the holders from below in the unlocked position
Emil Vincent im pretty sure the cargo area is cold and that all doors are one way passages, with no guns available and pilot training and people becoming more aggressive towards terrorists post 9/11 i dont think it should be a problem.
@@simonnuman6840 I agree
Incredible the amount of electronic devices looks like a datacenter!
Madeira Airport Spotting It is a datacenter! 🤗
@@bjornpilot Amazing :)
@@bjornpilot More or less it is. The "boxes" are called LRUs (Line Replaceable Units), in cause of trouble you just swap them in no time. Designed for easy maintenance.
macieksoft Very clever! 👍🏼🤩
I didn't expect that much equipment in the avionics bay. Amazing.
That’s why I wanted to show this. Pretty interesting. 😉
Just Brilliant, I did a similar tour many years ago into the belly of a 747- 200B where all the computers are housed.
I remember having to crawl in and around those areas of many different aircraft. This feature is not unique to the A350 but it is nice to see the inner workings of such a new aircraft!
Amazing to see there's a real (and compact) "flying datacenter" under the flight deck, *the avionics* , hardly ever shown! Thanks! 👍🏻👏🏻
For anyone that works in the aviation industry like myself, quality is everything.
@@ianbowden4587 he just wants us to know that he is actually working in this area, people are amazed of, in comment section..
Ecco Sabanovic lol
Fellow aviation tech here. Totally agree.
Quality of work, attention to detail, and in cases like these modules, _handling with care,_ are *top priority* in aviation.
as he should@@eccosabanovic1589
Now that has blown me away! I've climbed through the wings but never seen what was under there!
You swam through the fuel?
@@waitwhatrly No....during manufacture at Airbus Broughton
@@nathd1748 nice, they say they put the fuel there🤫
@@waitwhatrly Yes they do
@@nathd1748 i don't believe them😀
I've NEVER seen this part of a jetliner before. I've never thought about where the actual flight computers are stored, I've just seen where all the wiring is located. But that under-area looks like an IT server room!
Amazing to see the server racks in the forward area of the plane. As a software engineer it fills me with excitement to see this. Thanks!
I now understand why they are so expensive. The stuff in there is just too much
They are EXPENSIVE. it cost me a fortune to get a i7 gaming desktop. Now add a few dozen.of them.
Indranil Chakrabarty adds up to about 200k. The plane is upwards of 80 million if I remember correctly
@@sadenuttie2234 Wrong The A350 XWB is around USD 380 million. The 350 1000 ULR aroubf USD 400 Million
Indranil Chakrabarty well damb, I was off. Looks like I did not remember correctly
@@sadenuttie2234 Yes !!! Lack of sleep. Substance abuse.
Awesome video ! Thank you for the tour. 😊👍👍👍
World class engineering in close up - brilliant work! thankyou for excellent video
Now this is what I call a flying data center! To be honest with all this hardware miniaturization going on in the last 20 years and with the A350 being from 2015, I thought all avionics has the size of two casual living room PC towers hidden behind the cockpit screens under the glareshield... But there is a whole basement full of computers in the A350. Impressive!
Lots of computers there... 😉
Absolutely AMAZING video! Thank you for showing it off! Most revealing video of the A350 so far!
It’s like going through the skull of the cockpit to the brain of the aircraft. Good vid!
One of the most interesting video on airplane......especially its computer area....never seen before....great
The computers in that plane are more than what is found in my workplace.
Fantastic Engineering.
I thought they were in the nose but boy
@@maiden5427 there is a radar on the nose bay
Add to favorites. Not the last time I watch this video...
I amazed to be able to see these places you show us.
Thank you
Very nice tour. It’s amazing airplane
That was awesome to see. Who would of thought all that technology is inside an aircraft. Love it!
Wow!! That is a lot of intricate electronics! I mean, a lot! More like a spaceship!
This is the best pilot aviation channel on UA-cam.
Thank you! 🤗
What an incredible Electronic compartment!!!
Really enjoyed that video. So interesting to see all that goes on in the background 👍
That was absolutely FASCINATING. Thank you very much.
I must say though - I am shocked at how big the computers are on this modern plane. It looks like a computer room from a 1980's movie. I would have thought the computers would be 1/10 of the size.
Guess not.
Thanks again.
McRocket a It’snot inly computers. It’s also circuit breakers, contactors and lots of other stuff. 😉
@@bjornpilot That makes more sense. Thanks.
these computers are responsible for autopilot, in-flight entertainment, onboard payment and wifi and many other things so naturally they are quite beefy
Honestly the reason there are so many computers is because of extremely strict safety standards. Basically every subsystem has to be isolated into its own computer to allow it to be fully thought out, tested, and certified.
I work in less safety critical avionics and we can fit way more functionality into one device.
Wow great tour.... so much for stick and rudder
Fascinatine! First time seeing below deck of a A350
I liked this video. It gives people a behind the scenes look at a modern airliner.
Great video, very fascinating...I had no idea of the extent of computer equipment involved until I saw this. This makes me think that HAL is really flying the plane, the pilots are there only to keep HAL happy. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow that was an awesome tour, very interesting, thank you for sharing.
Thank you for taking us on this amazing tour.
Didn’t know all that existed down there .great information thanks
That was a fascinating video, short but sweet, thank you.
Wow!! Amazing to know tha part of the airplane👌
Thanks very much to show us the control compartment.Greatly appreciated for the effort show. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Beautiful plane!!!!!......
Love Sweden!
Nice Captain.
Wow! Waaay above my pay grade! Thanks for posting.
A claustrophobic picture! 👍👍👍

wow .... fantastic, thanks for sharing with us, provides a whole knew insight into aviation.
Most interesting vídeo, ever ! 👍👍
Simply Impressive !!! No One would expect to see that in plane !
Wow, a behind the scene look of the location of every Hollywood action sequence aboard a plane!
You're one very cool jet jockey! Love your 'work'. 👌
I'd play hide and seek in that airplane.
Osprey McKeegan i don’t... i’d would take too long to find you...
@@alexanderzerka8477 Fixed it :D
did you watch "Flightplan" with Jodie Foster?
Wow! The technology in this is ten years ahead of anything boeing produces.
timemachine_194 The 787 has much more wiring. The 350 uses something called the AFDX data network which reduces the amount of wiring and therefore weight.
timemachine_194 I think is ahead of if time but I believe boing are going back to bleed with the 777x.
timemachine_194 I’ve just done the a350 course so I should know all about the avionics compartment! There are servers and boxes in there! It’s all nicely laid out and clean and tidy. Wiring is quite minimum to save weight as it’s now working using a networks instead of individual wiring! For example, the taxi lights are wired into the network which tells the lighting control box to activate the light, whereas before it was an individual wire etc! Basically you can use one wire for 6 switches!
@@Sterlingjob The 87 uses the same... fiber optics...
@@Sterlingjob Also the 87 has far less lrus than this
Funny, I fully expected two by fours and plywood, har! Beautiful craftsmanship for sure!
Thanks for an interedting video. Take care.
Planes are the most sophisticated machines for me.
it is!
Yep.
Try spacecraft.
Also but not at all.
I didn’t know this “computer’s room”... Thanks for share 👍🏻
It’s absolutely amazing 👍
Really impressive Airbus! And thanks for this informative and eye popping video!
Fantastico!!!. Desconocia totalmente de la existencia de este compartimiento!.
Gracias por mostrarlo.

Damn it is a while data center of an IT company beneath the cockpit. Never knew that. Thank you, sir, for this unique tour.
Great tour inside A350
Thank you so much for tour
Woow that was way more exciting than I expected. No idea there was so much stuff that easily accessible from the cockpit.
I’ve work inside there before, taking out the floor panels for inspection, it was a very interesting experience to be able to access the MEC through the cockpit. However, it does get very hot in there.
Other than that, I have also removed and reinstall all the 3 crew seats before. It was a very fun experience to be able to maintain the A350
Something we don't get to see very often, excellent video
Thank you 🙂
Thank you for your videos. This is the third I have seen soo far. Looking forward to the rest 👍
A very unique Video 👌👌
Never knew there's a Data Center below the cockpit and that too without I.T. Guys 🤩🤩
Thanks for showing us the Airbus A350's 'secret area'. I never imagined there would be so many electronic devices and computers there.
the avionics area is fundamental to how the aircraft is safe and of how it flies just as the cargo/baggage hold area is fundamental to how the airline makes its income to be able to fly . Two vitally important areas of a commercial aircraft. Nice footage, thank you. ;-]
That was amazing to see there was that much access below the cockpit.
Wow increíble, gracias por compartir con nosotros.
Wow. I hope you're not getting in trouble showing us all this. This is amazing.
He stated that pilots are allowed to go down there although its advised against unless necessary because there isn't oxygen masks down there in case of decompression
Its like a huge flying mechanical brain. What a machine it is.
The technology of a spacecraft!
Wow ! I like the electronic circuits ! Interesting. Thanks for showing them !
I never knew there was that much tech to fly the plane! Love these videos, thanks!
Geez that avionics compartment looks like the server room at the hotel I used to manage! Damn thats huge!
Delightful and helpful video !
I'm immensely grateful !
Thanks video. Very interesting !
Never seen that avionics compartment before. Amazing!
This is one of the coolest things i have seen they got a full server farm down there
Great tour. We never get to see that stuff as passengers. Looks likeva submarine down in there . I fly a cessna 150. What a difference. But its fun to fly. 🇺🇸
