If you're just starting out flight simming and don't know if you will like it or not, then a Thrustmaster Hotas X is cheap and cheerful. You can move on to better things when you get into it.
Why am I watching a review of equipment I can't justify the cost of? Because Squirrels videos are always informative and engaging, even if you aren't directly interested in the main topic. Thanks!
Wow, now that is one beautiful device. Thank you again for such an amazing video. For a split second right at the end as you were ending i thought back to how you sound the horn at the end of the ETS2 videos and i honestly thought the plane was going to beep in the fly by haha
Of course not and i said as much in the video. This is not a yoke for the masses. Neither is a Ferrari but people still like to see videos of those too.
My point was that if you review a gift from a company then it would be more suitable to choose something that an average view might buy, by reviewing this it gives the impression that you done this deal for yourself to get someone you would never buy your self when instead you could of reviewed a cheaper piece of kit that you actually might of bought your self,
"it would be more suitable" You seem to be confusing his channel with errr... YOUR channel. This is Squirrel's channel, where he gets to make the videos HE wants to make.
Rear end of the box lifts up at maximum aft deflection. imo, it better resembles airliner's yoke because it always stays in middle, regardless of trim setting.
Its actually 10 cm height, look where zero is on that ruler did that mistake myself once. :) That is also reason why I mainly swear to calipers and foot rules, though I digress. Nice, honest review, cheers mate!!
You actually can see what the ruler is telling you in the video. What is the ruler saying good sir? :) Add 5mm to that because I am 99.9% certain that is the gap from the edge to zero. Edit; Just for the content, he did say 95mm... well.. 9.5cm whatever :P And that is what the ruler are telling me as well. So.... :)
i believe its part of the terms with UA-cam. You must disclose when you are doing a sponsored review. Im sure someone else will know for sure why but thats my assumption.
Actually, no. People need to know if what's being said in the video, could have been affected by the fact that the video is sponsored. You know, it's not likely that he would go ranting In a video where he's making the video, not for them, but with them so to speak...
its actually now against youtube TOS to not put sponsored in the title. you have to disclose the fact that you have been asked to do a review. i think its the FSA who set the guidelines for it. but i maybe wrong
I can see in terms of it's build quality it's obviously better than other products available for the simmers amongst us, but is it really 800 euro better? I can sure see the justification for charging more but it seems to me to be a huge leap and I just don't know if the leap of that size is justified for what you're getting.
Amazing review Paul! i liked how you went through the positive and negative sides. constructive criticism on the video: the music was a little bit loud in some parts :)
Thanks for the review of Yoko. I've been a flight sim enthusiast since the 80s. I've seen that yoke advertised, from time, to time, though never got to try it. The closest thing to it I've found is the flight yoke by CH Products. I'm sure the Yoko has much smother glide when moved, than the CH yoke. Both use springs to give that increased force, the farther you move the control. Neither has a centering detent. I'd love to get my hands on the Yoko, though.
unrelated question here but does ProMods 2.11 work with ETS 2 V.1.26? I don't have France DLC (yet) but it crashes every time I start it up, do I have to get DLC and then upgrade my promods or what?
Could've done with much more depth on this, for example how about displaying the PC axis on screen while you're moving it, so as we can see how movement corresponds with signal to determine the mechanical deadzone amongst other things.
Sadly this Yoke falls very short of the target area. For that price it would have to excel in flying heavy jets, but if it already shows signs of being a GA product that only gives part of it's good feeling, then I would shop around. I rarely fancy taking a GA out and about in sims anymore, if I fancy a scenic tour, I would be the whacko that goes low and slow with a MD-11.
I wasted a lot of money buying a few cheaper yokes. I was never happy when flying with them. Finally, I bought this yoke. I couldn't believe the difference. I love it. The problem is that the cheaper made yokes (not all) don't respond in a realistic way to what you experience in the aircraft. If you will use the sim to complement your flight training, you need good equipment. This will cost you but it is worth it. If you will just fly around without flight skills development, a good (mid-range cost) will work. Don't get the really cheap products. They are just no good.
I'd highly recommend it. I can only speak for the FSX version of the mod but it's surprisingly good, it uses a technique called reprojection to artificially increase the framerate. I'd say that if your PC can hold 30fps in an airport normally it will feel completely smooth like it's at 90fps in the headset. That being said I do the the occasional drop in some airports. So I guess what I'm saying is that the game is updating at around the same framerate you normally get but the mod smooths it out really well to an almost consistant 90 even if the game is at like 30. They have a free 15 min per flight restricted demo on the site if you'd like t try before you buy.
IF you want quality you got to pay for it, worth it. Try build your own and see how expensive a quality switch are. I made myself a panel once, I could have bought a finished one for the same price
£688 for a yoke. Wow, I need to get into this business. I've got to ask, why is it so expensive? I'm an Engineering student and the actual electronics and mechanics behind it are incredibly simple. I would expect it to cost about £75 to manufacture at the most.
I liked the video and it was very informative. I'm also appreciative that you indicate this video as sponsored; it makes you appear transparent and as if you have nothing to hide. Only criticism is I wouldn't say that flying the jets is all fly by wire while showing video of you flying the 737 which is not fly by wire. Show the 777 or A320 which are fly by wire. It's a small thing, but still incorrect nonetheless.
if i was serious about flying i would consider it but im not that serious about FSX so i think i will stick with the stick ive got still a good review cheers Squirrel
I may be being cynical, but I can't help wondering, if Paul had paid for this out of his own pocket, as opposed to Virtual Flight giving him this product in exchange for this review, as he states at 1:23 in the video, whether or not his opinion would be different?
Nice detailed review; Would love to buy one but 1,080.68 € (with shipping & tax included) isn't going to happen this year, but there is always next year...
At 820 Euro... it would have been ok for me..... but unfortunately, i live in Canada. So it will cost me a lot more of money exchange plus custom duty. Around 1700 to 2000$....... nice review by the way Squirrel
Matthew McColl by the fact that you know that, I presume you're perfectly able to convert that into newtons. I'll give you a little help. The constant you need is 9,8 m/s^2 You do the maths
I wish somebody would start making *FFB Sitcks/Yokes* again. We have a great variety of excellent FFB racing wheels but not much choice when it comes to flight, which is a real shame. Last one was *Logitech G940* if I recall correctly and it was a mess, it would have been great had it worked properly...
That 90% statistic seems pretty unfounded to me but anyway, how about trimming the plane? Wouldn't the stick hold the desired position in a big fly by wire?
It's all up to the pilot himself. If he likes to fly with one hand only that's fine, but if someone wants to fly with both hands, let them do that aswell :)
$900+... This is a definite no. Looks awesome, but too expensive
Darth Lttl very expensive
@@nathanbrosh4589 the honeycomb looks better
To be honest it not that much than a direct drive steering wheel like the Logitech G Pro, question is where’s the realistic force feedback
A very complex and awesome review as always Paul, much appreciated :)
Thank you
If you're just starting out flight simming and don't know if you will like it or not, then a Thrustmaster Hotas X is cheap and cheerful. You can move on to better things when you get into it.
Squirrel FSX or Xplane
A Noob I would say FSX (even better P3D), but I guess Squirrel will say X-Plane :p
Dozonator_ thanks, and its cheaper
Squirrel, your sponsored videos are top-notch.. I'm being serious. They are very very good. And so is the yoke.
Appreciated
I appreciate the disclosures
He doesn't disclose it for the appreciation, he does it because by law he needs to.
Mr Brown Town doesnt mean I dont appreciate it :/
Matthew Wheatley
I'm not saying you don't, I'm just saying he needs to do it.
And I was legally required to stop at any and all traffic accidents.. I still stopped because I cared. ;)
Love the fact that you made very clear that this was sponsored and how it was done (you keep the hardware). Thank you for your transparence :)
Why am I watching a review of equipment I can't justify the cost of?
Because Squirrels videos are always informative and engaging, even if you aren't directly interested in the main topic. Thanks!
Very much appreciate proper disclosure of sponsored reviews. Nicely done.
apart from the price, are there any bad points about this?
So overpriced... 820.00 € ?!
Metro Fotografia you get what you pay for
^ This
If you want to spend less then you'll get less quality.
I agree, I could get a decent PC plus the most popular flight games for that money. For what it does, it's not worth it in any case if you ask me.
its not even close to osw-racing wheels
For pratically a wheel
For an advanced fixed wing pilot training sim it would be great. Way out of my range, but it is very cool to see what is out there.
Sterling review man, concise, objective, no fluff.
Always appreciate your honesty
Wow, now that is one beautiful device.
Thank you again for such an amazing video.
For a split second right at the end as you were ending i thought back to how you sound the horn at the end of the ETS2 videos and i honestly thought the plane was going to beep in the fly by haha
Yeah I was the same, waiting a *Beep Beep*
Love the budget airline at the end...juxtaposition to the Yoko
Very good and honest review. I't would be awesome if they could sponsor you with a complete setup!
+MrHRY lol oh yeah! Haha
You can kiss your girlfriend / wife goodbye if you buy this.
I’d buy it if it had realistic force feedback, not much more than a direct drive steering wheel. How does it compare to a Honeycomb?
For some reason, all I can think of is "Yoko? Oh no!!", probably the same thoughts the surviving beatles have now and then... :P
I was waiting for something to justify that pricetag, but it never happened.
Are there going to be Lennon rudder pedals?
Awesome high quality reveiws as always Paul
Don't think presenting an 820 euros peice of flying kit is what most people on the channel are looking for,
Of course not and i said as much in the video. This is not a yoke for the masses. Neither is a Ferrari but people still like to see videos of those too.
LOL
Yea i love both great work
My point was that if you review a gift from a company then it would be more suitable to choose something that an average view might buy, by reviewing this it gives the impression that you done this deal for yourself to get someone you would never buy your self when instead you could of reviewed a cheaper piece of kit that you actually might of bought your self,
"it would be more suitable"
You seem to be confusing his channel with errr... YOUR channel. This is Squirrel's channel, where he gets to make the videos HE wants to make.
oh god, you must be 'yoking' abot that price tag!
@@unknownthomertonb lmao, glad to hear it 😂😂
Interesting to see a review of a very expensive product, then see the Ryanair fly by at the end!
More sweet tech!
Can the Yoko be used as a steering wheel for ground based sims, like ETS or ATS?
Yoko? SHE'S GOING TO BREAK UP THE BAND, MAN!
This is a plane equivalent of the RailDriver :) Your vids are the best!
Sodori the footage wasn't him measuring it :D it was just an illustrative thing to give you the idea
So.... :)
Oh, something that my country produces, Spain!
The motorcycle industry there is rebooting quite nicely. Overall, Spain was one of the fastest growing eurozone economies last year.
Why do you feel you need to put sponsored in the title? I don't know why people hate the fact that others get sponsored to do a review.
i believe its part of the terms with UA-cam.
Advertising Standards Agency best practise. It's not a legal requirement but it is a guideline. Plus, I like being transparent with what I do.
its actually now against youtube TOS to not put sponsored in the title. you have to disclose the fact that you have been asked to do a review. i think its the FSA who set the guidelines for it. but i maybe wrong
In the uk you are leagaly required to put if the video is sponsored
A great review thank you Paul ✈️
Squirrel sounds like the dude that would narrate How it's Made
I'm surprised at only 60 degree deflection, even the Saitek Cessna Yoke goes full 90 IIRC.
wow 7 views when you know you are late
I can see in terms of it's build quality it's obviously better than other products available for the simmers amongst us, but is it really 800 euro better? I can sure see the justification for charging more but it seems to me to be a huge leap and I just don't know if the leap of that size is justified for what you're getting.
Squirrel, may I ask which aircraft (the twin prop GA) you were using to make this video? Is it modded with Rxp gauges?
Nope, built-in X-plane Beechcraft B58 Baron
ah ok...must be new for version 11...panel looks nice.
Amazing review Paul! i liked how you went through the positive and negative sides.
constructive criticism on the video: the music was a little bit loud in some parts :)
how's your X56 doing?
great video as usual but sponsored videos can't be classed as reviews as they're by definition biased
You're an idiot.
TallulahSoie He really isn't though. Squirrel never said anything negative about it.
Thanks for the review of Yoko. I've been a flight sim enthusiast since the 80s. I've seen that yoke advertised, from time, to time, though never got to try it. The YOKO doesn't use springs; it uses bungee cords.
One way to look at it is this way: you can buy 4 hours of instruction in a real Cessna or buy Yoko which will provide many more hours of practice/play
paul if you have a quad engine aircraft (747) how would you set up your thrustmaster
hey squirrel when you were landing the 737 were you in the ryanair livery?
unrelated question here but does ProMods 2.11 work with ETS 2 V.1.26? I don't have France DLC (yet) but it crashes every time I start it up, do I have to get DLC and then upgrade my promods or what?

can you tell me a good yoke for war thunder sim or IL-2 sturmovik?
what was the green thing next to the yoko?
Good review. Have you done a review of the virtual-fly G1000? If not, would you do one.
Is there any good free scenery for fsx, maybe for amsterdam airport as well??
For 820€ I also expect some sort of force feedback when turning the wheel
yay squirrel doing a flight video... i'd love to see some x plane 11 or even just FSX again
can anyone recommend a cheaper one for someone trying to get into flight simulation?
"They make fully enclosed sims" as he shows a non fully enclosed sim. Lmfao.
You can buy a car for 820€, a crappy one, but still a one that drives :D
Yo have got to be yoking me..
I wasted a lot of money buying a few cheaper yokes. I was never happy when flying with them. Finally, I bought this yoke. I couldn't believe the difference. I love it.

Great and professional review Squirrel! It was nice to watch and listen sqrlGG
Great review, thanks as always.
Hey squirrel, do you have a Vive? What are your thoughts on FlyInside? VR flight simming has gotten me interested in flying again :D
+Hannah Crawford I have a Vive but I've not tried FlyInside yet. What are the frame rates like ?
I'd highly recommend it. I can only speak for the FSX version of the mod but it's surprisingly good, it uses a technique called reprojection to artificially increase the framerate. I'd say that if your PC can hold 30fps in an airport normally it will feel completely smooth like it's at 90fps in the headset. That being said I do the the occasional drop in some airports.

Paul the latest version of flyinside was released with XPlane 11 support. If you haven't tried it yet you should. I use the Oculus CV-1.
I disagree 1000% , you can get an amazing experience and the closest you will ever get to the real thing.
Jeff Favignano with a vive I have no issues with resolution and can even control the switches inside with the controller, it's amazing.
Would it work with elite dangerous
This has to be a "yoke"! I mean, this controller is awesome! Ah wordplay...
IF you want quality you got to pay for it, worth it. Try build your own and see how expensive a quality switch are. I made myself a panel once, I could have bought a finished one for the same price
sorry i'll stick with my full cessna Satek set up Yoke Switch panel Radio panel Throttle Quad and individual guages, pitch trim auto pilot
Awesome video!
Great review. When are we getting some more P3D videos? Always love to watch them.
Another fine video! Thanks!
Would look much cooler if the box were plain black. Now it looks like an Apple thing.
Nice review Squirrel. :)

top=notch controller, out of my price range tho....looks great for commercial and general aviation craft...thanx for that review.
Verry nice video Squirrel
great video, when will the winner for the giveaway be announced?
It's been announced. Check his facebook/twitter.
ok Thanks

Interesting product!
What's the awesome music that starts to really come through at 7:22? Anybody know?
lol I wonder if yoko ono uses it
lol
Joe Bennett yoko Ono's yoko yoke
It may be a great piece of equipment, but 820.00 € is an absolute rip-off. It doesn't even come with a throttle.
so you have to buy the yoko, but you don't get the lennon.
may I have any of the old technology you don't use PLEASE because it will cheer me up a lot
I have a Microsoft sidewinder precision 2 joystick that it got for $10 at a thrift store. Works perfectly.
Matthew Walsh i got that 7 years ago ._.
great review
How does he turn the camera like that?
With a head tracking device called TrackIR.
Or in other words, for those who live in New Zealand. With shipping it'll cost $1500. Good luck
One hand on Yoke, one hand on throttle !!!
But Air force proud already did this....I want this yoke now
Kilograms is not a units of force. It is a unit of mass.
Matthew McColl by the fact that you know that, I presume you're perfectly able to convert that into newtons. I'll give you a little help. The constant you need is 9,8 m/s^2 You do the maths
would love to see more helicopter videos 😊
Man... I wish it was cheaper... why aren't there cheap ones like ffb steering wheels?
I think its a tad bit to expensive but its great and i love all these vids! Also can you do a review on some gaming keyboard's ect...
Thanks! Ben!
Rick547 Ben? lol

That 90% statistic seems pretty unfounded to me but anyway, how about trimming the plane? Wouldn't the stick hold the desired position in a big fly by wire?
Brunner makes force feedback flight sticks, yokes and even rudder pedals at the same price point as the yoko.
Box seems to be lifting up at the other end when sticks are fully backwards.
Pilots do not hold yokes with both hands, just on hand is needed
It's all up to the pilot himself. If he likes to fly with one hand only that's fine, but if someone wants to fly with both hands, let them do that aswell :)
5:26 he mentions that so do not worry
