    In flight review and unboxing of the YoKo Yoke!
    YoKo Yoke - goo.gl/CxNHNT
    This is a sponsored video, I was not paid for the video by Virtual-Fly but was offered the YoKo unit as an exchange for a product review! I still offer my true opinion on the product and I am VERY happy with it :) I chose to compare the Saitek yoke on my own accord because I own one, the YoKo is a professional product so it is a tad unfair haha.

    Can you do a rejected takeoff and touch and go. I'm curious to see how a pilot handles those situations. I've seen outside footage but never pilot footage

    Personally, I think mechanically wise, the yoko is better, but I think if people are just wanting a yoke, get the saitek, because its much cheaper if you just want a yoke for x-plane or fsx

  • @mpaulk2023
    @mpaulk2023 8 років тому

    The one thing I really noticed in the flight sim was the amount of extreme response the yoke was giving when you used the Saitek vs the ...I guess fluidity the yoke was showing with the YoKo.
    The response with each was very different as well and I could see just how much more accurate the YoKo was in nearly every ounce of rotation you requested.
    Note, I'm not a pilot by any means (hell, I've never even seen a cockpit in my life!!!), but if I were ever to play any flight sim games, I would give at least a serious look into the YoKo. Thank you, Jeff, for this review!!

      You are very welcome! Yeah I have to agree and I wasn't comparing them like they are close products but rather the difference between a quality product and a run of the mill plastic yoke. It really does improve your flying.

    You can easily disconnect the deadzone by taking the back off of it, and releasing the connections which makes the stop zone. It's pretty easy.

    Want an entry level cheap yoke with no deadzone, try the ch eclipse, not the absolute best yoke in the world but also has no deadzone, so for those on a budget, this is what to go for.

  • @LukaT

    I think that the best option is Saitek Pro Flight Cessna yoke - it isn’t too expensive and it’s way better than Pro Flight Yoke - it has no dead center and it turns 90 degrees.

    Jeff, you definitely had more precise control with the Yoko Yoke. I've been flying (real) airplanes for a decade or two, and one of my biggest peeves with flight sim control hardware is the feel: too light by touch and mass. Your commentary is very valuable here; great review; looks like a Yoko Yoke is in my future.
    Thanks for the comparisons.

    @richboy2307 8 років тому

    Thank you so much for the side-by-side comparison Jeff. I can't even begin to tell you how useful it is when trying to understand a product through just video. :D
    You nailed the issue right in the head there with the deadzone of the elevator axis on saitek's yoke. Just kills all flares in any aircraft with the control spike when you pull up.
    While the Yoko seems way out of price range for an enthusiast like me (Costs nearly as much as my whole PC lol), what I do appreciate is more options in the market. Hopefully some day Saitek will feel encouraged to upgrade their yoke lineup seeing added competition(sort of). Maybe even something with force- feedback (*hint hint, nudge nudge* if you are reading this Saitek).
    Top quality video as always though. :)

    • @jfavignano
      @jfavignano  8 років тому +1

      Thanks man, yeah I agree it really needs to be addressed. If Saitek would just take the deadzone out and stiffen the unit it would be loads better. If you open the Saitek Pro you will see a big plastic center piece. That is what is clunking. You can do what I did on my previous yoke by removing it and the other parts in there that create the clunk. After I did that it was much better but keep in mind it will void the warranty.

    • @richboy2307
      @richboy2307 8 років тому

      Nice. I'll look into it. And lol my yoke is like years beyond warranty now so might as well try to mess with it :P

    seems like a nice Yoke, but no matter how well it's constructed, it missing what suppose to increase the sense of immersion, no feeling for the wind effect & some sense of the G-force which you will get with Force Feedback Yoke .... thus, and IMHO, the high price is not justified

    It appears there is some lag in the YoKo. You appear to be turning the airplane to the right to come out of the left bank but the airplane continues to turn left.

    • @jfavignano
      @jfavignano  8 років тому +1

      +Mike Price that is how it is in a real airplane

    • @K0S0s
      @K0S0s 8 років тому +1

      It's called over banking tendency. During a turn in an airplane the outside wing (because there is a bigger circumference in the turn, therefore more distance to cover in the same amount of time) flys faster through the air causing more lift. So if you don't keep putting in a little opposition aileron, your bank will continue to build until you are upside down.
      Hope that clears things up.

  • @deewi6163

    Great Review. First I noticed that you kept adjusting your grip on the Saitek as opposed to the Yoko. Did you notice, and did it bother you. Also I am going through my PPL and I noticed as well that it looks to me that you are white knuckling the Yoko. (For others that don't know what that means, its when a nerves flyer grips the yoke so hard their knuckles turn white). Does the elevator trim help with the pressure relief? I want a realistic yoke when I go for my Instrument rating. The saitek is just to lose with its controls. My landings suffer with the Saitek. Again keep it up, you are doing a great job. And you don't need sleep its for the weak. LOL.

    Which mic were you using during the flight sim demo? That's quite a transition, from a regular laptop mic audio quality to sports radio quality!

    Would you say that it is worth the $900. My friend is into aviation Sims like crazy. He actually wants to get his license to fly when he is of age. But he wanted to know what your opinion is of that.
