It felt more historic with Gohan because it was building up I mean from the beginning to end when he showed his true power in Goku and Piccolos fight with Raditz where Kid Gohan broke out of Raditz ship and landed a powerful head blow to the chest and shocked his father, uncle, and future mentor then in the battle with the Saiyans he got angry and kicked Nappa through a rock and after Piccolos charged up some energy and blasted a masenko and almost succeeded in injuring Nappa if it weren’t for Vegeta vigilance and the list goes on and on
Super Saiyan 2 is very effective in combat being stronger than the normal Super Saiyan transformation and Super Saiyan Grade 2 also having none of the weaknesses of Grade 3 being the low stamina and high power consumption and being way stronger than Super Saiyan Grade 4 which is the Full Power Super Saiyan Form
SSJ2 was always my favorite form from when I was a kid to now. I remember being so hype when I saw Goku and Vegeta first go SSJ2 in the Buu saga. To this day it's still the "Perfect" SSJ form.
Super Saiyan 2 has always been an interesting the form has no drawbacks but makes me ask the next question SSJ1 had different levels Super Saiyan Grade 1,2,3,and 4 but I wonder sometimes does SSJ2 have some
@@tehjboney3291, There's nothing to really improve upon honestly (maybe the stamina like SSJG4, but it's never stated to be a problem for SSJ2). Also, SSJ3 is essentially SSJ2 Grade 5, as it's based off the same principle of increasing speed and strength proportionally, just to an insane degree, which apparently exhausts a living body extremely quickly (unless you're dead or a fusion).
Also in the dub when Bojack asks him if he has any last words and Gohan says "Actually I have one..." that is my favorite line because of how chilling it is.

Super Saiyan 2 is easily my favorite Saiyan transformation & most underrated imo. Its is sleek, stylish, the power boost is amazing, & it just looks cool as fuck especially with the blue lighting surging around their bodies.
I wanted to see SSJ 2 Gohan vs super perfect cell in hand to hand combat so bad.. we never seen Gohan pushed to his limits to see what he can actually do.
I really wish this was used more. I was kind of happy when Goku and Caulifla used it against each other in the TOP. Its logically the best of the original three forms. Twice as strong as the first form while having no loss in stamina. The fact that it isn't used in more fights is a tragedy.
My favourite thing about Super Saiyan 2 also known as Super Saiyan beyond a Super Saiyan is not just the power, but it's also that's the design for the hair and how it spikes up even more and lifts up. Not to mention it's the lightning bolt circulating around the bodies alongside aura.

Naw...goku vs freiza was epic...but I almost shed tears with gohan transforming...you a kid that never wanted to fight and jus ended up snapping and losing control...
I always thought Goku secretly had a sixth sense ever since he turns Super Saiyan. He knew when to come back and what action to take even when it wasn't popular. Not saying he knows how everything going to play out, but knew how thing will work out.
Not really don’t get me wrong I liked it but goku vs cell was more epic because you have to remember Ssj gohan surpasses goku but for cell still no match , cell barely was trying an gohan only got atleast 1 -3 hits on cell that’s just first part 2nd part cell made cell jrs an they weren’t even fighting in that moment Once gohan got Ssj2 he just demolished cell , cell had no chance an gohan just thrashed him and when cell came back from explosion there was no fight they just engaged in kamehameha battle
Idk which movie or dub it was that it's in, but I always loved when Gohan starts explaining how much he admired his dad when he first meet Freeza and wasn't intimidated at all by him and just casually walked up to him. And because of that whenever he's in ss2 he always does that casual, slow, and confident stroll up to the obstacle before him. Super inspiring!!!! Awwww childhood... I'll never grow up! Bahaha
The Gohan SS2 transformation scene is still to date my most favorite scene of all time since I watched it on midnight run on toonami/Catroon Network back in '2000 I believe. I still get emotional when I go back and watch that clip when 16 gets crushed after stating that he loved life and watching Gohan unleash that fury of power.
The way I always used to tell the difference between SSJ1 and SSJ2 with adult Gohan was when he was SSJ1 he would sometimes have a few strands of hair sticking out next to his bang in front, but when he was SSJ2 those strands would disappear and he would just have the single bang of hair.
I feel like everyone did these videos before super was announced because dragon ball and dragon ball UA-cam was in a void of theories and no new content
It always bothered me that i couldn't definitivley know when a saiyan was a super saiyan 1 or 2. So basically if they have blue electricity its 2 and if not its 1, but not always, hmm.
Eric Carson For characters with straight spiky hair such as Vegeta or Adult Gohan it’s hard to tell (really besides the lightning the only “easy” way to tell is that SSJ2 has more VISIBLE hairs and the curvature at the top is wider than in SSJ), but with others you can tell by the amount of bangs hanging down. For example, SSJ Goku has 5 bangs: 3 big bangs in front, 1 big bang on each side. SSJ2 Goku has 3: 1 big bang in front, 1 little bang on each side.
yeah but it essentialyl doesn't matter since ssj1 and 2 and interchangeable at this point. It's basically ssj with more power. If they character powers up, then they'd basically go to 2.
I really do enjoy these Transformation guides, as they go into great detail on just about everything. And on a side note SSJ 2 is also my favorite! Thanks for the upload!
One of my favorite DBZ scenes is in the hyperbolic time chamber when Gohan turns super saiyan "The power comes in response to a need not a desire" were some of the most powerful words in the series for that scene. Another one was where Trunks was fighting Perfect Cell and couldn't figure out why he was not able to take him out and it went back and forth with Goku ascending in the time chamber and Gohan saying "I know you can beat cell!" and then Goku giving Gohan a lecture on the form "These bulky muscles make it difficult to move fast, and I can't have anything slowing me down". "Somehow we have to find a way where it feels natural to be a super saiyan, so we can stay like that all the time". I love this show.
Gohan going super sayian 2 was a great moment and one of my all time favorites, but for me the most iconic moment of all of Dragonball was Goku's initial super sayian transformation.
SSJ2, and SSJ2 Gohan in particular was always and will always be my favourite transformation in Z. And tbh, I think my favourite version ofGohan's transformation scene is in DBZA. Yes I know it's not an official dub, but there are moments in DBZA's run where the show stops being a humorous Dragon Ball parody show, and just becomes the TFS Dub, and Gohan's transformation is 1 of them. Android 16's speech, and then the music, still gives me chills. I know the music is from he Japanese version, but still.
I think SSJ2 is the coolest looking SSJ design. But I still prefer Ultimate Gohan in terms of Gohan designs. As to version.... I like TFS English version of the song, but I think the English dub scream is by far the best, with the Manga script. So a mixture.
Astro Bishop ssj4 might not be canon but it was stated to be the ultimate transformation. And had absolutly no side effects beside ssj2 it was one of the best forms
Astro Bishop But stil even if it is not canon it atleast deserves it credits for what it left for us in the fandom. And true ssj2 is good i have no complains about it. But i loved the concept about ssj4 going back to the roots of the orginal saiyans that is what maked it so dope to me.
I started watching this video, got five minutes in, and started watching DBZ from Gohan's Ssj2 transformation. I'm back now, like 3 hours and one half of the Cell Saga later.
I thought I remembered Gotenks tapping into SS2 during the fight with Super Buu in the time chamber, I'm going to rewatch and check. A couple more things is that the height increases and when Gohan turns SS2 at the world tournament you can see his hair actually grow an inch or 2 during the transformation after his eyes change color.
I always felt a saiyan was at their most serious at this state. SSJ2 takes even MORE rage and emotional distress to achieve than the first SSJ if you believe that. To me, this was always my favorite form. Little to no ki drawbacks like SSJ3. Stronger and faster than a SSJ. just a pissed off sayain getting more serious and pissed off as he/she fights.
@@deckzone3000 well they dont require rage but they do require grief in some form. only reason goten became ssj so early was because he got his shit kicked in by his own mom while training 💀
Great job geekdom, u really cover points that the show don’t explain. Oh I’m also glad that the clout chaser itachi is off your nuts now, great vid bro hope to see more in the future
Going off of the last video about how to control emotions, go on instinct in fighting, etc., this is very much, visually, how Gohan's "snap" looks. Once he snaps and goes SS2, the tears fall away and he's like an emotionless rock dishing out calm and calculated punishment on the Cell Jrs. Then on Cell, himself. It was what all of DBZ was leading toward. I love parts of what came later, but this probably should have been the ultimate climax for the series. So much with Gohan and with the rest, especially Vegeta, comes full circle here. Even with Goku in his selfless, yet still uplifting ending.
I was waiting for this video... Finally.. Geekdom please tell us when you will upload a new video on this series.... And please make a video on how universe 6 characters achieve ssj2 so easily. ☺️Thanks love your videos
Great video. Gohan story from Z to him turning to ssj is the best story writing imo. I always said the Japanese version on none kai version was amazing the transformation the music..the build music and art with the bird and 17th death. Amazing story writing. Great job Geekdom
Good video. I noticed that while Future Trunks is in his Super Sayan 2 form his serratus muscles get more relaxed/smaller compared to his base form which would allow for maximum hydraulic pressure in the thoracic cavity. Beerus's serratus muscles appear very very relaxed/small at all times.
When I was younger SSJ2 was my favorite form and it still is now because of its use in battle such speed and power and the electricity my other favorite form is Super Saiyan God
I knew it! I was always wondering if Gohan was SSJ2 in Broly second coming because in the first round his hair looks more spiky but when he and Goten do the Family Kamehameha and Gohan transforms again his hair is less spiky and more SSJ like.
_SSJ2 is my favorite transformation of all time. Just it's capabilities to how it looks make this form look stunning. It also set up Gohan's development to a full on warrior._
I've been waiting for this video since the begining of the Transformation Guide. SSJ2 is easily my favorite transformation, although I feel like they did it dirty by introducing SSJ3 so soon. Also, something that has always felt wrong to me is SSJ2 having a 100x multiplier. It feels very arbitrary, especially since SSJ2 seems much stronger.
Wasn't in the anime? Where Goku mentioned. Gohan size being a factor for being able to handle SSJ2. Due to the smaller size. Having a better distribution of weight instead being to big and bulky to move fast enough to compete with cell
Loving this series. I've been devouring each episode the second I get the notification. Some other stuff even though I wanna watch I might put off for a bit until I have time. When one of these drops I MAKE time lol.
Hey, a new video in the transformation series! Awesome!! Starting at around 2:49 you mention that a lot of hardcore dub watchers prefer the Japanese version of the scene, and to add to that, I'd like to point out that Team Four Star unironically did it so well it gives the best of both worlds IMO. Looking forward to Super Saiyan 3! ^_^
You're not wrong! I would call myself a Dub fan but Masako's scream when gohan transforms along with Umnei no hi! The Best moment in the whole of Dragonball!
Buy far my favorite saga would love a stand alone video. Also you should do a video of why Gohan didnt became the the star after this saga and why Gohan stopped training.
Another great showing of Gohan’s greatest moments is when he kills Bojack. And once again in his SSJ2 form. I absolutely love the build up it’s short and sweet but to the point. Which is what I love about Teen Gohan. He’s personally my favorite in the DBZ saga. As you can tell by my profile pic 💯🔥
@@scanlaslocc I think gohan has the best character development out of the Z Fighters. Gohan was just a human with saiyan blood. He never liked fighting or violence, but he had the most potential out of any of the saiyans. He reluctantly fought and saved the world. Then went 7 years under the impression the world was saved. Remember Gohan hated fighting so why would he train 24/7. He got weaker in the timeskip because he was living out a human life, he's not like goku who does nothing but train. I think the great saiyaman was inexcusable, there was no reason to make him seem like a joke. After Z ended, he got married, had kids, makes an honest living. I see that as staying true to what Gohan has always been, a human. Even in super he said he wasn't going to train himself in super saiyan, he was going to find something more human to fight with. He's a great character, just different than everyone else.

No super saiyan form requires rage.
@@deckzone3000 bro what
@@tiffanyflanders9120 What don't you understand?
@@deckzone3000 well they dont require rage but they do require grief in some form. only reason goten became ssj so early was because he got his shit kicked in by his own mom while training 💀
@@Hvinnie Goten never got beat up by his mom.
“And this... is to go... even further... BEYOOOND... AHHHHHHHHHHH”
2:38 omg I never saw the manga version of cell stepping on 16😂😂
Great job geekdom, u really cover points that the show don’t explain. Oh I’m also glad that the clout chaser itachi is off your nuts now, great vid bro hope to see more in the future
Exactly! SSJ2 is just the perfect regular ssj from for combat! Its just awsome!
You're doing god's work Geekdom my man!
I like the SSJ2 90s style of electric power surrounding them than the new version of electric power
The best SSJ2 transformation sence in DBZ besides SSJ3.can't wait for the explaining video of SSJ3 my favorite form
I've been waiting for this one.
My fav also. Beast mode. Great video thought u was bout just talk about the fight and not give more insight but u pulled thru
Agreed, SSJ2 is my favourite form too!
Great video. Gohan story from Z to him turning to ssj is the best story writing imo. I always said the Japanese version on none kai version was amazing the transformation the music..the build music and art with the bird and 17th death. Amazing story writing. Great job Geekdom
Super Saiyan 2 is one of my favorite Transformations, Gohan was such a badass back then
Yea he’s ass now tho
i hate how Caulifla ruined ssj2
@@swb01ye43 yeah, she quickly tap into ssj2 while she was trying to save Cabba
Mine is god then 2
SS2 is my favorite even with all of the new crazy forms in Super. It isn't too flashy (unless you count the lightning haha)
I’ve been waiting for this. I just got the notification
JUST CONTINUE WITH THESE VIDEOS,I'M SUPPORTING THEM ALL!!!
Fun fact: People think SSJ2 Gohan is an asspull
Nah, but ultra instinct is
the Japanese gohan ssj2 transformation with the ost was freaking awesome.
It’s a 150x multiplier
Thank you for including the words, "16's incredible speech" in the video.
I saw the Japanese version the music in the dub makes it more epic though.
Wasn't in the anime? Where Goku mentioned. Gohan size being a factor for being able to handle SSJ2. Due to the smaller size. Having a better distribution of weight instead being to big and bulky to move fast enough to compete with cell
Ssj2 is my fav form as well!
This is one of my favorite series uve ever done geekdom keep up the good work
I never thought of Super Saiyan 2 as "Super Saiyan 2". To me it was just Super Saiyan with electric aura lmao.
Is Super Saiyan 3 just Super Saiyan with long hair too
Loving this series.
Yeah about that😬
The anime originally referred to SS2 as an Ascended Saiyan. Even krillin, during the buu fight said "what would that make him? Double ascended?"
I still like Mastered Ultra Instinct Goku but thanks for explaining Super Saiyan 2.
Been waiting for this 🔥🔥🔥 love your videos geekdom !! Much respect
Released the same day I reach Super Saiyan 2 in a Dragon Ball game... gg
Wtf are u talking about
You're not wrong! I would call myself a Dub fan but Masako's scream when gohan transforms along with Umnei no hi! The Best moment in the whole of Dragonball!
Beyond Super Sayain until becoming *Super Sayain bold*
I don’t know what it was, the comedic timing, the delivery or tone of voice, but calling Cell a prick just floored me, I wasn’t ready 🤣
Super perfekt Cell is Cell SSJ2!
Another great vid as always lol
Teen gohan is one of my favorites but his head is so big 😭😭😭
That's exactly why hes not my fav lol
Buy far my favorite saga would love a stand alone video. Also you should do a video of why Gohan didnt became the the star after this saga and why Gohan stopped training.
Will you be going over fusion is a transformation
hopefully not
Another great showing of Gohan’s greatest moments is when he kills Bojack. And once again in his SSJ2 form. I absolutely love the build up it’s short and sweet but to the point. Which is what I love about Teen Gohan. He’s personally my favorite in the DBZ saga. As you can tell by my profile pic 💯🔥
Gohan only had 50% of his power left when super perfect cell arrived. Still was able to stand up to em
Almost* He put up a good fight, but would have lost the beam struggle if Vegeta didn't take that pot shot at cell
Indeed ssj2 is also my favorite transformation. Just has balance everywhere with no set backs.
