I met this man at Seawolf Park in Galveston. He taught me and helped me land my first black drum and another huge black drum the cast after. He knows his stuff. Definitely an awesome guy. I highly recommend him to anyone who really wants to catch some big fish and have a good time doing it.
Hi, new subscriber here. Great video. Whats the name of this leader set up and how do you make it ? You should make more videos of how to seat up leaders step by step. Thank you
So I’m not new to fishing for reds (100% soft plastics). I’ve tried to throw fit lady fish and such. I always end up with sharks and other trash. My question is how do you lessen the chances of those unwanted bites
@@3rdCoastFishin ok cool I’ll try to keep that in mind. Jetty are kinda a hike for me but I can fish places like boca grande and sanibel (all in between) in minutes I live on pine island (FL) some amazing fishing. But I’d assume tactics are near same deep moving water

@@3rdCoastFishin well i caught about 8 hard heads 15 gafftops and a 20 inch hammerhead. does anything desirable hang around those fish or was i way off?
Yo man, how do you always get that perfect corner of the mouth hook set when your fishing like that? I just got into catching reds off the jetties with cut bait, I most fly fish or throw artificial. Lately I’ve been finding the fish are getting hooked in the back of the throat. I was using 12/0 in line circle hook and file down the barbs, just easier for hook removal and somehow it’s always been in the back of their throat.
Use a bigger hook I use a Mustad 16/0 Circle Hook we sell them on our site www.3rdcoastfishinandtackle.com we also make pre-made leaders for Bull and slot redfish as well
@@3rdCoastFishin Yes, it keeps your gear from rock rash or damage and you don’t have to bend down to pick up rod. When I fished big rods I would use the on the rocks and the beach.
@@3rdCoastFishin but there are no boats at all on quintana taxas beach .i saw many videos .but could nt find it even 1 i think jetty is to keep fisherman closer to the sea for hunting . am i right though ?
Great video if the goal is to have tons of people pressure the fishery and probably keep illegal fish. Just let them figure it out. Probably half of the people on the jetty don’t know what a slot is or even what a keeper measures at but still throw fish in the cooler. I have seen so many people like this on every jetty and I don’t mind them not catching fish. Just sayin that is gonna be the effect of this video intended or not. Regardless nice fish.
The only thing I can say about that is if you see something say something it's nothing is done call the game warden that's what I do so don't do that stuff in front of me
Technically, its be the effect of every fishing video on YT, not just this one. Once they lacerate their finger while casting the heavy weight, they'll quit.
I don't want to hate but come on. Why are the thumbnail and the video 2 different things. no you do not need to go out onto the end of the jetty past the pier on the rocks where it can get dangerous just to catch a red. maybe there is some better action there, but there are other good spots to find reds on the jetty.
