Fantastic fishing. Hard to watch every time you went down near the water on those rocks. I did that once slipped and knocked out my front teeth. Never tried that again. You guys are brave even using spikes. Nice job!

Having the Korkers with the carbide spikes really does help a lot, it makes you feel "almost" invincible, we know what they can handle, and depending on the angle, I still try and be cautious.

If only that was always the case. Early on there was a handful of people near us that were upset that we kept on pulling in Sheepshead after Sheepshead and they couldn't get 1 and we saw them on the phone with someone so who knows... They should probably check more often to be honest though. Thank you!

What's up fellas. How you guys been? I got a question. Throwing lures like top water or other lures in the surf. What rod size do you like? Not a jetty rod. But something to use in the wade gut type of fishing
@johnnycortez46 hey, Johnny, we have been doing well, I hope you have as well. As far as throwing lures in the surf or wadefishing we use rods that are about 7'. You can go down to 6'6 or up to 7'6, there isn't really a wrong choice. Throw what feels good to you and something you can make several casts. For wadefishing in the bay I would try and get something around 6'6 but in the surf definitely something 7'6.
@@johnnycortez46 those sound like the shark / tuna rods you should easily be able to put a 50w and 80w on them. Depending on condition they could fetch a good price to the right buyer.

We were fishing about 5-6 feet deep. That's why other people that had fixed floats on were only fishing 2 feet deep and weren't getting nearly as many hits as we were.

Those stripes fishes look like datnoid fresh water fish mostly found in Thailand and Indonesia? Some people in my former country call them tiger cause the look stripes like tiger and also agressive like it
Oh wow, that is super interesting to hear! I just looked them up and they do look very similar. We used to fish with my dad's friend's wife who was from Thailand and she could really fish. She loved to fish for Kingfish off of one of the local piers here and she made some awesome shark jerky.
Since always (at least in Texas). A limit is what you can take home with you, nothing in the TPWD book that says you can't continue to catch fish and release them back into the water and also you can still keep fishing for all the other species that are out there such as Redfish, Pompano, Black Drum, Flounder, etc.

@ImionsaeXwb77 if that happens you can just cut your line and leave the hook in the fish instead of trying to remove it, the survival rate is better that way. We have caught several Redfish that had stomachs full of soft plastics but no hooks to be found.
Now that's a BIG Sheepshead! The largest one we got this day was 7lbs and the average ones we were getting were 4-5lbs. Yeah we're waiting for a different species to show up. Something with a little bit more pull.

I also bring up if other people are near you and they are getting bites/catching fish and you aren't, try doing what they are doing and if you aren't sure try asking. Usually people are friendly enough to explain what they are doing. That being said if they check out slip float video, that goes into great depth on the rig we were using.

Overkill? In Texas we are allowed 5 Sheepshead per person per day. If this makes you upset then you should be worried about an older gentleman from Missouri that comes down in the Winter and fishes Port A. He strictly fishes for Sheepshead 5 days a week, he catches and keeps his limit every single day over the course of 3 or so months. That's about 300 Sheepshead, now that would really be cause for concern.

I've seen it done on the Tuna they catch in Japan. We usually prefer letting the fish go to sleep in a nice cold ice bath.
