    When was the last time the Game Warden pulled up at your fishing spot? If y'all don't want to be like the other people not catching any fish, do yourself a favor and check out this video ua-cam.com/video/R3Rq19vFSjc/v-deo.htmlsi=TWZuTAkLx347Rzu0 to see what rig we were using to catch all these fish. • @MattsSaltwaterFishing
      @MattsSaltwaterFishing  6 місяців тому +1

      @johnnycortez46 hey, Johnny, we have been doing well, I hope you have as well. As far as throwing lures in the surf or wadefishing we use rods that are about 7'. You can go down to 6'6 or up to 7'6, there isn't really a wrong choice. Throw what feels good to you and something you can make several casts. For wadefishing in the bay I would try and get something around 6'6 but in the surf definitely something 7'6.

      Now that's a BIG Sheepshead! The largest one we got this day was 7lbs and the average ones we were getting were 4-5lbs. Yeah we're waiting for a different species to show up. Something with a little bit more pull.

      @@MattsSaltwaterFishing That big one fought like a big slot red. Biggest we ever caught was 12 pounds. It actually ate a 1/2 oz rattle trap. I been in the sheep game for 35 years so we logged a lot of hours on the water.

      @@KGFishyFingers Usually this time of year we are targeting Jack Crevalle and Kingfish, we prefer fish that have a little bit more pull. That being said these Sheepshead were a lot of fun to catch and even tastier to eat.

      @MattsSaltwaterFishing  8 місяців тому +1

      Exactly! In other videos we explain what lures to use, what bait to use, how to work the lures, what bait rigs to use. I also bring up if other people are near you and they are getting bites/catching fish and you aren't, try doing what they are doing and if you aren't sure try asking. Usually people are friendly enough to explain what they are doing. That being said if they check out slip float video, that goes into great depth on the rig we were using.

    Why the overkill?

    • @MattsSaltwaterFishing
      @MattsSaltwaterFishing  7 місяців тому

      Overkill? In Texas we are allowed 5 Sheepshead per person per day. If this makes you upset then you should be worried about an older gentleman from Missouri that comes down in the Winter and fishes Port A. He strictly fishes for Sheepshead 5 days a week, he catches and keeps his limit every single day over the course of 3 or so months. That's about 300 Sheepshead, now that would really be cause for concern.

    • @wolverinex4243
