I have to say I'm jealous. I lived on the island in the early nineties before Packery Channel. I lived in a canal home so I fished a lot from the dock. I often wondered how Packery Channel would affect fishing. You mentioned changing your reel. Can you explain what you did?
Packery has turned out to be a great place to fish, I absolutely love it because the snook love it! Only thing I did to my reel was get rid of the wire bail and put a manual pick-up conversion. Basically the first part on a spinning reel that tends to fail is the bail (which mine did). The manual conversion kit just gets rid of the bail so it looks like a van stahl or similar bail-less spinning rods that are popular up in the northeast for surf fishing for stripped bass and bluefish! Making it bail-less also makes it less prone to failure when I’m running along the rocks!
@@davidschmidt8391 it is a tsunami 5000. I actually broke the bail at the jetty, and bought a manual pick-up conversion kit for it. This was late afternoon but the bite died about 30mins before the sun set. There are plenty of apps that have a fishing forecast but I honestly don't use them.
