Hope you enjoyed that drive! Such a pretty route through the mountains, Lincoln picked a great spot for their outlet and this event!
The F150 Powerboost has blue cruise. I have used it on I87 plenty of times; it works great, it deactivates when your changing lanes or the sensors get blocked. It does not work in tow/haul mode. I have used it in light rain and light snow with no issues (though I keep my hands on the wheel in those cases). It hasn’t failed me yet and it works only on the highway. Around town it does have a self drive type mode, however it’s very much like what you see in this video it warns you quickly if your hands aren’t on the wheel or your eyes deviate from the road for more than 10-20 seconds (it does seem to learn your driving habits and it has given me more leeway since we got it). I’m not sure Roman said this clearly the cruise control has to be enabled for any of those modes to work. On top of those there is lane centering which I have on the lowest setting and it works great. I’m not as technophobic as Roman so it didn’t take long for me to understand the system. However It does take some getting used to when your first exposed to it.
If you have nav plugged in for a cross country trip, will it take exits and follow interstate and highways on its own?
Nissan's system in the new Pathfinder impressed me. Curious how it compares to Ford's astro glide?

Any thoughts on long term reliability of lincoln navigator 3.5 liter twin turbo ecoboost engine??
In my experience Lincolns can be very reliable. I've owned many and never had a single major issue. I currently have a 2020 aviator and a 2018 continental. Before my aviator I had a 2018 navigator with the 3.5L and when I traded it in for my aviator it had 178k miles on it

@@rhydynamic8306 yup, just did basic maintenance and she ran just fine all the way till the end. I've owned lincolns all my life and my parents did as well. My first car was an 04 navi i got it when it was only a year old. I ran that thing to 398k miles before I got my next car. I bought the 2020 Aviator to really see if it has any problems so far it only has 35k miles on it and hasn't had a single issue. The new Aviators are thought to have major electrical issues but 95% of them don't. I couldn't be happier with my cars!
What good is any self driving if you have to keep your hands on the wheel.

I’m wondering how the brake lights work in stop and go traffic. When the vehicle automatically stops or slows down, I would hope the brake lights come on to help the person behind you not hit you.
I have an Explorer with the 360+ package. That means I get everything except the ability to drive hands free. When you use the intelligent cruise control, the vehicle will slow down to stay at the speed limit. If it uses the brakes to do so, the brake lights come on. When you're in traffic, it will slow you down and stop you when traffic ahead stops and the brake lights come on.

Super Cruise in the Escalade is the best system out now. The only bad thing about Super Cruise is that it will cost you $25 after 3 years

In my X5 i can put adaptive cruise control on and touch my the steering wheel with the upper part of my leg - and it just drives. Doesnt stop for red loght or stop sign obviously

Yeah who wants to do that is very uncomfortable. BMW needs to update their tech they are behind in comparison to Cadillac and Tesla

They’re infrared. The camera picks them up but you wouldn’t be able to see them.

You are way to worried about the system responding. I have the Corsair with the previous generation stop and go and works amazing. I assure it will stop when needed.

Yes yes yes. It's maddening that none of the automotive journalists are reviewing it. Even Consumer Reports puts it as the number 1 ADAS. Openpilot has driven me more than 10,000 miles at this point and I can't imagine not having it.
I could never trust a system like that. It’s nice in theory, but what happens in the real world?? I’d trust enough to take a jacket off or something and have it help me out for 10-15 seconds, but not much more than that.
To be fair, it’s not a system (level of autonomy) you should trust. It’s designed to assist in certain situations to help reduce fatigue and be a safety net, but drivers should always do what they can to remain attentive and ready to take control.
@@ALMX5DP Correct. I had 2018 Nissan Leaf and Pro Pilot was superb in relieving fatigue and preventing collisions. But not fully automatic driving. And I'm not sure anyone, not even Tesla will ever get it to work. The human brain can not be emulated. It's biochemical and we make decisions based on emotion and memories as much as anything else.
Openpilot (Comma AI) has driven me more than 10,000 miles in my Honda Odyssey at this point. It's far from "nice in theory". It's an enormous quality-of-life improvement. And you can easily fit it to cars as inexpensive as a Toyota Corolla.
The future looks scary for most people over 40 years old.
The young folk will love this sh*t/stuff. Those folk have machines do more and more for them every day. Welcome to the machine.

The “future” as in what’s in this video and much more than offered by ford or Tesla for that matter, has been out in German cars for at least 17 years now if not a bit more. 20-30k euro cars got it a decade ago, just in Europe only, not the US. My mother is close to 50 and has zero issues using stuff like this, has it now and had it back in 2013 too.
But no rear leveling air shocks I hear...

I could never trust a system like that no matter how sophisticated. When I go somewhere, I like to drive! The one feature I think I could get used to is the automatic braking in stop and traffic or an emergency situation where the vehicle could apply brakes quicker than I could. The other thing is if you are in an accident while driving in auto-mode, I can see the lawyers now fighting it out in court as who is to blame...the car or the driver?!?!
Legally, it’s always on the driver, under current regs. Now, if you have an accident that you believe was caused by the autonomous system, you can bring the manufacturer in as an additional party. They might chip in to settlement.
Active cruise control is great, esp in traffic. Auto braking tends to be a bit too sensitive. And I drive long distance and few times a month for work. And it sucks.
Traffic in my area is always…ALWAYS 10kph over the limit…which is good, as long as this allows that over the speed limit buffer so I’m moving with traffic, then I’m good with it, if it doesn’t then I’d have little interest.
Sounds great till some idiot rapidly comes from behind 40+ mph above speed limit and cuts into your lane missing you by 2” causing the system to say WTF as happened to me this week. You cannot program all the variables of bad driving so my hands will stay on the steering wheel.
I'm surprised it doesn't yell at you when you have sunglasses on.
the cameras must see thru the lenses, infrared or whatever... maybe polarized or certain glasses would block it?

Actually there are full autonomous vehicles that have been around for decades, they're called taxis.
If Ford and GM are going to be using similar semi-autonomous driving systems. Why not invest into google maps or whatever maps. Invest into some type of radio frequency between cars that allows cars to communicate back and forth. Install a program to assist with sending info to and from the vehicles. Letting the vehicles know where they are at.
Or create an on board system for your phone thats compatible with the cars computer. If you are using Android auto (I don't know about Apple) it tracks where your home, work, and places visited. Expand near field communication to allow the phones to talk to each other. Tracking the speed of the individual to help separate a motorist from a pedestrian, or from another motorist. Or indicating that you are in a busy area letting the car know that it's in a densely populated area. I'm aware of the fact that could lead to security issues so upping the security systems will be beneficial.
Cadillac was working on something similar to allow cars to communicate with each other. But that was a few years ago and I haven't really heard anything new from that.
This. VW have a system that allows their cars to talk to each other but I don't know if it's active. Really needs a world standard and for governments to make it law. And I have thought of personal beacons that indicate wirelessly that you are in the vicinity. No easily obscured cameras needed!

Same with electric vehicles. They are wanting to build their EV's with their own chargers. When filling for gas was universal. Put the nozzle into the gas port and fill. The manufactures didn't have a problem with sharing the same way to fill gas. Now they have a problem sharing the same charger. Why not invest into a company or multiple companies to build a single type of charger? Have different levels of charging speed. Similar to different types of fuel. The lower the charging speed the less you pay. Invest into the infrastructure. So that way the infrastructure can take the extra load of charging more vehicles.
@@99-Zulu It’s not a issue with sharing a universal charger, it’s the simple fact everyone is not on the same level yet which means there are different charging capabilities depending on which EV you’re talking about.

GM products _already_ have Google software and maps built in from the factory. Ford is light years behind in tech.

It’s a Lincoln buddy. They drive and ride amazing.
Nothing was probably said about the drive, ride, and feel of the Navigator because it’s also the worse driving out of the big 3. I believe even the Jeep GW has a better ride quality and feel over uneven surfaces than the Lincoln Navigator. Neither of which is quite on the caliber of the Cadillac Escalade’s driving character, ride quality, or feel.

Despite Cadillac offering better executed technology, better driving feel & dynamics, and it’s the more practical design with a bold & futuristic presence. The *demand* for the Cadillac is much greater than that of the Lincoln as not many people opt to own the Ford. So dealership markups are affecting the price of Escalades 2 years after it’s release. Other than that, Lincoln is demanding the same $106,000 MSRP for a far less impressive machine. That ain’t even including the price increase for loaded 2022 models which gained a half baked “handsfree” driving system and a massaging rear seat for literally thousands more.

Yeah that would be disappointing. However, the price over 8 years ago was much less expensive. If you kept your Tesla and got today's autonomous capability at the price from over 8 years ago, I might consider it a value.
This feature is good for someone who has no depth perception.
I think they're working on these systems 24/7 because people today drive like sh*t. Since we won't slow down, won't obey traffic laws, we're all going to be in an autonomous driving car eventually. My thoughts are that instead of leaving to get somewhere in time, most people will live their lives perpetually late. And cars will become so expensive that most idiot drivers will end up in public transport ....

Self driving won't work untill all carscommunicate with each other to know that car in front is slowing down or changing lanes, knowing if there is traffic ahead of time, etc etc. That's the only way to minimize accidents and really reduce traffic. Imagine, going from red light to green light all cars will accelerate at the same time, that be a perfect world. I can see that happening within 20 years.

@@WW-wf8tu Nahh, not buying it. SuperCruise has experienced zero related crashes. Just about every review of Astro Glide I’ve seen, they’ve almost gotten into one 💥🚗 . It’s not even a true hands free experience which is one of the highlights of Super-cruise.
But Elon Musk says he'd be 'shocked' if FSD wasn't working this year for Tesla. Lolololol. What a scammer.

This is just *not good* Ford. Actually, half baked systems like this are very dangerous. Everyone’s in a rush to be better than the Cadillac Escalade but it’s taken Cadillac years to get where they are. Ain’t happening overnight for Jeep, Ford, or anyone else. They need to go back to the drawing board with the 2022 Lincoln Navigator, this ain’t gonna cut it. Yikes! 😱
