  • We're about to spring into summer folks.. soon soon soon! With all of these new Bernat Pop colors, it's so easy to create eye catching fabulicious fun! I mean, how could one resist?!
    Well I, for one, could not! and that is why I, with great pleasure, bring you this new FREE Northern Lights Handbag pattern! Make a bag in any size, the world is your oyster here! The colors, they remind me of the Northern Lights so it just seemed fitting =)
    So, onto the pattern my friends... The whole pattern can be downloaded by clicking on the link below, but what follows all of my gab are the repeat rows you will need to continue growing your bag as desired from where I stop in the video.
    As always, forgive all my chatter throughout the video. As my son would say.. God made me that way =*D
    Repeat rows of this pattern:
    4. Puff stitch into same space as starting chain, ch 1 (This ch 1 is in addition to the chain 1 close of the puff stitch.), *skip next st, puff st into next st, ch 1*. Repeat ** to end of round. Join (27 puff st + 27 ch 1 = 54)
    5. Ch 1, sc into top of 1st puff st, sc into following ch space, *sc into top of next puff st, sc into following ch sp*. Repeat ** to end of round. Join to 1st sc from start of round. (54)
    6. Ch 1, sc into same join ch space, 1 sc into each st around to end. Join to 1st sc from start of round. (54)
    7. Repeat round 6, 2 more times. (54)

    How would you make the base a little wider I love the bags absolutely wonderful I can see them in all different colors Thank you for all that you do easy to follow Thank you

      Hi Linda! Thanks so much for your kind words =) I explain in the written pattern the sizing of each of the bags pictured. The beach bag, for instance, has the following dimensions: Made with M hook - measures approximately 12” x 16” [Beginning chain 37]. So as you can see, going up in hook size will help create a bit of a chunkier looking, larger bag, while the clutch and the purse were made with J hook and the stitches are closer together. If you are wanting to create one larger than the beach bag, I would suggest choosing the hook size you desire, then chaining to the length you would like to create... measure it out with a tape and that will be approximately the size when you work it up, within probably 1/4 of an inch. =)

      I may have misunderstood, if you mean widening it the other way, you are going to want to work in some increases in a couple of additional rows of sc. Is this what you were asking? =D

    Working on it but I think I will get the same yarn you used , I tried to crochet 2 yarn play together ...kinds mess...
