    My Neighbor, Charles Ep 146
    - Amidou is from Burkina Faso, West Africa. He’s the 72nd Griot and a genius musician. He’s doing well in a band but at home, is an immature husband. On the other hand, his wife is very shrewd. There is a small battle of nerves going on between them to decide who will take care of the money. What is the result?

    Yeongsu looks so stressed. Must be hard raising a baby at her age and worrying about their financial situation. Amidou needs to get serious about learning the language, not only for his family, but for himself as well. I wish them the best.

    Getting a taxi in Korea is extremely hard when you look like a foreigner; they usually ignore you and passing right on by. I once had to wait 2 hours in Seoul to get a taxi since the subway was closed at that time

      I can tell you personally that if you are a darker skinned male it will be harder to get a taxi. Unless you live around a military base. I lived in Daegu for a year and traveled to Busan quite often with friends. If any of my male friends tried to get a taxi, it’s damn near impossible unless we are with a korean friend. And even then they will still drive by you. It happens and we sometimes take no harm to it. They will pick up whomever they want.

Later when i found out the reality continuously, i could't stop being disappointed every time i find it. kkk anyway...sometimes, people in developing countries want to escape from their life which is full of poverty and despair, i actually find him capable because he made escape with help of his music. Have you read of the book so called "Life you found yourself by Rieko Saibara "? life menioned in the book happens really in those countries. one way or another way, escaping is the best solution. it doesn't matter if people treat them as 2nd citizen or not.Anyway,

I hope the way foreigners and especially black people are treated with more respect and consideration. I also hope that Korea's officers and government as whole stops forced labor and any form of human trafficking. When Amidou comes homes, he isn't affectionate w/Yeongsu. In the beginning, not sure if he even loves her or is just with her because of the baby. And he doesn't seem to respect her, or listen to her when she asks for money for the stroller. He's like a man child. Then at the end he seems shy. I hope they're all doing well today.

    Korea, Korea, stop giving my black brothers and sisters a hard time ok!. The baby is so smart and sensible. Grand parents did not approve; because he is black and what the neighbours might think. Are these people crazy? Really!!! Aren't we all humans? Great epidode though.

    • @piercehunter7731
      @piercehunter7731 6 років тому +42

      You can not blame the grand parents, they thought the way they did because of American and Korean media portrayal of Black people. Also majority of conservative parents want their children marrying a Korean. I am by no means giving excuses but a different perspective

    • @ooops418
      @ooops418 6 років тому +25

      hey hey hey come down , dont blame the grand parents , they are so kind and nice . there are some old generations people see never the foreinger black in theire life , anyway theire parents helps a lot the couple and baby . the grand papa told that he miss always his grandson of course if you are the parents , its difficulte to accept their daughter marry with a foreinger who doesnt have comfortable life , even though with a korean who doenst have a stable job . I live in france there are a lot of racists for asians also , I dont want to talk with people more and more . there are not a lot of foreigners in koera , they arent adapted foreingers till now . that's all . anyway he found his way in koera because of koeans also . every foreingers find the trouble every country

    • @ooops418
      @ooops418 6 років тому +8

      You ingore the reality and you dont try to understand their life and you dont respect their opinion .Of course they couldnt accept him because it is sosososos rare for old people to see black people in their life , how can they accept him easily ? It scare them in fact at first . you ask too much for them , your comment also is so rude and unpolite . He had a hard time because of them , they also had a hard time because of him . The mother of my husband also didnt want our marriage , she maybe wanna european , I understand her because it is her opinion and it's possible . I respect her and now she doesnt care that I am asian or not . Try to understand the others before blame them . besides he has anormal situation in korea . if he isnot married with her , he couldnot have a visa and he must to leave korea . I think their parents are so kind to accept him . If I go to USA or another country without money , what's gonna happen for me? I think I will be begger or I will die in the street .

    • @ooops418
      @ooops418 6 років тому +3

      It is not KOREA who give your black brothers and sisters a hard time , OK ? It is their choice to live in Korea where there are not a lot of foreingers (especailly black people) and everybody work hardly and difficult to get a job and suicide rate is very high . Almost foreinger have hard time in every countrys . Korea is not rich as much as USA and europe.

    As a French I am surprised by how well Lee YeongSu's can express herself in French... learning a language and speaking it are two different things... truly impressed.
    The grandparents were so fond of their grandson (who can resist that face 😍)... the power of kids: bringing people together.
    I hope Amidou learns Korean so he can communicate better with his in-laws and why not getting better part-time ( more $ ) while doing what he loves: playing music.
    Good luck to them.

Usually, all white folks talk about it being great and an average and below average looking white Woman is given a goddess status. Where as this hard working black man has to wait one hour after his work shift for a taxi to actually consider him.
