Korean bullying is next level. I went to school with a lot of Korean exchange students and WOW it was insane. Even the good looking Korean students would get bullied. The lead bully only needs a slight reason to dislike you and BOOM they all follow that lead bully without question. I'm gonna bet that his bullying is not just his looks, it's probably cuz he's poor too. That one was a really common reason.

He definitely habors some resentment towards his mom for being a foreigner. Sadly it's the result of being resented by his peers growing up. I'm sure he feels the same about himself, but he directs it towards his mom because 1) it makes it easier to cope with the pain and 2) prob to form some sort of disassociation.
He's still a teenager and so all that emotion is intensified. It seems his mom is doing a great job raising him. He'll eventually realize everything she's done for him. I hope he learns to love himself and understand that he's just as much Korean as he is Filipino, and that it's a beautiful thing.

@@Soreto23 hi okay thats a good argument. but Imma disagree bec Bullying is internal damage, it doesn't have to be PHYSICAL so as it is called violent or whatsoever. A single laughter, a cell of gossips with dirty intentions can cause one a brink to self-image, but to sort it out, I get your point of what crime is. I think the commenter points out the ratched effects Bullying made to people. Being human should be normalized as all a gateway to mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical aspects- they are all core to health and living, and should be subjected with prior protection too.

Bullying causes deep emotional trauma that usually steers the victims life away from being happy and healthy. Therefore it is actually a massive crime and there should be big punishments for that.

Couldn't agree more. I know that we teenagers usually don't open up to our parents. We are too shy to even tell our parents that we love them. I think that's normal, but sometimes we have to talk to our parents or tell them what's happening in our lives because it's too difficult to keep everything in ourselves. Idk about Filipinos but Indians are also hella racist against East Asians. Most of the older generations didn’t even want to be called Asians because they didn’t want to be associated with the southeast and East Asians. I’ve also heard that Filipinos discriminate against each other more than anyone else. Kinda naive and also racist itself to think it’s specially the korean people that is racist against others. And if this boy and his mom come to the United States, they will face racism for just being Asian in general. Almost every Asian American kid growing up has been bullied because of their race and especially now, Asians living in the west have it rough as the rates of Asian hate crimes have gone up.

As a mother of half-Filipino children, living in a foreign land, it's very painful to watch and hear the child tell his mum that the problem lies in her being "a foreigner". Maybe the mom has friends and we just didn't see them on the show, but it's SO important for adults not to put too much emotional burden on their children. It's really hard for single moms since they don't have adult support inside the home but they CAN find it among their peers. The "you're all I have" refrain doesn't make for a healthy relationship.
When your parent is your responsibility, it's hard to love them with lightness and freedom. It's a heavy burden to carry.

I'm filipino and I had korean, half-korean classmates in high school and college. I can testify how we Filipinos try our very best to accomodate them-to make them feel like they belong and they are equal despite the language barrier. We filipinos are fans of Korean culture and most of the time, we watch kdrama and listen to kpop. But it's just sad to see that the feeling seem to be unreciprocated. it hurts me to see how he's being bullied because he's different...i'm honestly disappointed.

Wow, this is unbelievable to see this. Very touching from her son sending message of love and grateful to her for her incredible determination as a mom and working 4 jobs. Not easy for this, but I feel sorry for the mom going through all this while her son growing up in a foreign country like Korea. Blessings to you both from Canada!

I cried so much because she missed out on her child's growth in order to ensure it. Reminds me of my mom who's always working. To all the parents out there who are trying your best, may it pay off and may you live long enough to see it pay off.

Of course not everything is 100% perfect, but she’s doing her absolute best to provide for her son. I’m glad the son opened up about his struggles as a mixed kid in Korea and hope that he will have a lot of success coming his way.

She's like my mom . I cant help but im crying . My dad left us when i was 3 . My memories about my mom got a beating from my dad is very fresh until now . Sometimes i got hit by my mom too everytime i cant do chores or when she got home and im not finish . Im the oldest with 2 sibling . It's hard because i need to take care my 2 siblings too.
But i never hate my mom . Never .
    Im 24 y/o now . My mom still working . She's 18 when i was born .
I said it to my mom " mom , even if you're too young to became a mom . Atleast we grow up together ." Then she answered, "yeah , i have many mistakes in my life. But being a mother . I didnt regret it at all .y'all are blessing".
Everytime we have a family date , so many people always told us "y'all like siblings, not just by look . Because you act all like siblings".

This makes me sad. I'm half Korean too and it freaking sucks that Koreans don't accept us as Koreans. I know we are half but we are still HALF Korean.
I can relate to this a lot as my mom is from Spain. My relationship with my dad who is the Korean one ,is very rocky.
    Cheering you both on 💕

I'm not in the exact same position, I am an immigrant who was raised in the new country and I always felt less. Acting confident and worthy makes me feel confident and worthy. I still struggle a lot tho.. I really understand how you feel ❤❤. I'm not arab enough for my relatives, and not Swedish enough for a lot of Swedes.
How about instead of thinking yourself as HALF, think yourself BOTH. "I am both Korean and Spanish" how you feel about you will help you a lot. It helps me when I try to think that way, like I have a right to be here and I don't need to be better than everybody else to "prove myself" as an equal.
