Feralas is such an underrated zone. I remember when I first walked in this zone, you see the neverending trees rising up in the skies, so large that they block out the sun, you get the feeling of danger and fear of unknown but at the same time you see the mysteries of ancient Elf civilizations overtaken by dense rainforest
"I remember when I first walked in this zone, you see the neverending trees rising up in the skies" I never saw the trees. there were too many trees for me to see anything.
(Vanilla) As an Ally player trip from Stormwind to Kalimdor/Feralas (still quite new in WoW those days) was like a great journey to the edge of the known world. Unforgetable.
The reason why it feels worse is because it's not a world anymore. I spent a long time thinking about this and I realized that in order for a world to feel like a world, it by necessity must have mechanics that a lot of people would consider to be annoying in order to fully capture the emotion of depth. This includes but certainly is not limited to: 1) Meaningful travel time. This means that to get from point a to point b for the first time, a player needs to spend a long time running along the road, waiting for boats, trains, etc. This establishes something extremely important to a world, which is scale. If you take a portal from Ironforge to Stormwind, you have no idea how far apart those two zones are. If you walk from Ogrimar to Tanaris, you know that those two places are a LONG way away. This gives the feeling of the world being massive and teeming with life and danger. Flying mounts are bad for this exact reason. They destroy scale. 2) Scarcity. Gold and crafting supplies must be both valuable and difficult to come by. Entering a mine as your dwarvern blacksmith should be exciting due to the vast quantity of minerals you're going to find. If it's easy to come by money and supplies, exploration incentive and any goodies placed in the world are shallow and meaningless. 3) Dangerous world. A dangerous world forces players to work together. If you really need someone's help to do a quest, making friends is going to be extremely important. If you know people in the world, then that world feels alive even more because you know and are emotionally invested in other real people that are going on a journey with you. 4) Mystery. The world is complicated, multi-faceted and lots of things are happening in the shadows that you as the player are not privy to. Nothing is explained to the player via pure exposition. Quests are a mechanism of story telling that shows you, not tells you, what is happening in the world. NPC's pull you into the world by asking you to help them retrieve artifacts from Dire Maul. While in Dire Maul, you get to see how the Ogers have taken over this city, how nature runs amuk and so on. Rather than kadgar screaming at you OH NO THE BURNING LEGION, OUR ANCIENT ENEMY THAT WE HAVE FOUGHT FOR A LONG TIME LED BY ARCIMOND WHO TRIED TO INVADE THE WORLD 10,000 YEARS AGO THAT'S THE GUY THAT TYRANDA FOUGHT TWICE BY THE WAY, IS HERE BRAVE HERO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. 5) Class diversity. Simply put, Warlocks can do shit that no one else can. No one else can summon, no one else can banish demons, and no one else rides a horse that leaves a trail of fire behind it. There is one combat rez and the druid has it. Only mages can make portals. Only rouges can pick locks. Every player class has something special that only they can bring to the table. This means that even the worst of players have special skills. If you need a warlock then you NEED a warlock, no if ands or buts. More world depth building in a small way. That's just off the top of my head but you get the idea. TL;DR the game used to be more like a DnD campaign.
@@ConstantineIII Yes, and I must add that "equality" can suck. I like the diverse (some times more tedious) paths with exclusive rewards.EXAMPLE: Hoard had it easier for West to eastern kingdoms world travel.
Classic is on the horizon. I can't put my excitement into words. I'm filled to bursting with undying love for my childhood being brought resurrected. The nostalgic feels from when I first load in to Teldrasiil as a Night Elf Hunter will be truly unforgettable. That was my first character a decade ago, and so it shall be again as I relive my fond memories.
This just hit me so hard... so many memories its incredible what this game made me feel, countless hours just staring to a imaginary horizon as if i was looking deep inside my mind, feelings of joy, and nostalgy, that feeling of walking into the unknown, like arriving home after a long time, healing myself amongst memories and beautiful things embracing me. Thank you WoW although i havent played in a long time all those feelings are still there always lingering.
Being a noob in Thousand Needless, just exploring, accidentally stumbling into Feralas, ?? leveled wolves and bears charging you from afar, an unknown, beautiful, mystical and hostile uncharted area not yet ready for exploration. That was my first experience with Feralas :)
So powerful... Seriously it's another dimension. The team behind the environment creation in WoW and the team behind the soundtracks are just unbelievably talented
For as long as I live I will never forget the feeling of being new to wow back then, going through each of these zones, having no idea wtf I was doing. I dont think any other game will ever be able to capture the magic that wow once had.
I am so glad this got uploaded. Feralas is my favourite zone in the whole game, and the music makes it only more perfect. I remember leveling a Night Elf Druid there, but I did not care about my surroundings and only wanted to get the job done. When I decided to level a Troll Rogue, I came back here to give it another shot, but this time, the zone grabbed my heart and wouldn't loosen it one bit. As someone who loves Kalimdor, this zone stands for everything this continent is about. It seems peaceful at first, with a mysterious note, but the lands are unforgiving and it is easy to get lost in the immense wilderness. The races in Kalimdor are friendly and peaceful, and always have their open for allies. Settlements feel like a safe haven before you embark on further explorations. People often forget to appreciate the calmer and more harmonious zones in the game. Every zone nowadays is about impressive storylines, cluttered with settlements and monsters, and cinematics after every event. But it are zones like Feralas that truly make World of Warcraft to what it is. These zones lie at the very heart of the game, and no expansion can change that.
The way I felt while exploring WOW is I guess how people in the old days used to feel while exploring the world. It's something we're missing from our lives nowadays. Exploration and adventure, it's something that's so inherent in our souls and in who we are as beings, but also something we're deprived of entirely in our lives. I guess this is why we love RPG games so much, they're like a substitute for what we lack in reality.
I spent a lot of my time exploring these places just because I wanted to see everything. Feralas was one of those places I could go where it felt like I has the entire zone to myself. All of the green coupled with the music really immersed me in the game. IMO there will never be another game that will enthrall people the way WoW did. It is a testament to people who truly love games making games. Thanks for the memories.
YES! Finally, my favorite zone while leveling! The entire forest felt like a cathedral. I took my sweet time and when done with the quests almost wanted to start a new toon just to do it all over again. Oh, and after that you get into Winterspring! Just wonderful. Thank you so much!
I almost feel like I shouldn't just casually listen to these soundtracks, it's as if I'm corrupting their memory or something. Listening to these soundtracks brings such vivid feelings and memories, it's almost painful.
Yes! Almost as if you need to preserve those memories, and since they are triggered by listening to this, that each time you listen they become less unique and lose a little bit of what made them special.
Probably one of the zones that i least got to explore during my playtime (my favorite thing to do is explore). Thoses vanilla zones music videos really get me excited for classic. Thank you for your work Everness.
Feralas has had a special place in my heart ever since I first set foot in it. Something about the aesthetics of the zone resonated deeply within me, from the massive trees, to the ruins, and the dungeons. Overall this is one of the old zones that I never get tired of to just be in.
The first piece is my favorite. So beautiful, mysterious, calming, ethereal. The low notes give me a sense of something much larger than us; something untouchable.
Feralas was one of my favorite spots: I loved taking the quick route to the top of the Twin Colossus and fishing up there. It was a great spot to level up your fishing skills. But one has to be careful exploring up there because if you fall off it is really hard to get back to your corpse, at least in the vanilla days.

I remember wandering on the way side of Thousand Needles one morning. I was so happy because we had just gotten a call that there was a 2 hour delay for school. I took the time to explore. I happened upon a beautiful green forest in the distance and knew I had to go check it out. I walked around on foot just admiring the area as much as I could until I had to go. Good times; these videos help me relive those times. :)
More than 14 years ago in my second guild , prior to reaching lvl 60 GM told everyone in the guild : lets head out to Dire Maul! From that moment on, as a balance druid - which means Thunder Bluff is close by, I was regularly present in The Feralas. That surroundings, nature raw in its beauty - stole my hearth . But not just that as a guild member we were frequently raiding there. Dire Maul has a LOT of secrets :-). For example library with elves , where you could actually hear about Illidan - for the first time. Arena pit where You could fight dragon - forgot the name of it. Latter on my own I have explore the area thoroughly - and as many of You already know it was the Elves ancient place of power. Basically You could actually feel it in the game... Expansions came after one another...but still Feralas was a safe distant heaven from big crowded cities . I `ve finished MoP and with Wow. During this time of Pandemic crises , I found some extra time and look upon what I have missed in Wow. It is really sad for me the destiny that has fallen upon the Night Elves, they should move back to their roots and Feralas is the great spot for it. Beside the Feralas , Ashenvale and Moonglade are my favorite zones in Wow from the first day , I have started to play Wow to the last. Thank You for making this video - IT brings tremendous flash back and countless hours , I have spend in Wow.
@2:54 hits me hard with nostalgia. I wish I could have appreciated the opportunity to have been young, with no responsibilities, and play this game. I wonder if the peaceful bliss I felt playing WoW as a child is still attainable. I hope so.
My favourite zone in WoW of all time. The music is great, the atmosphere is great, and it also has one of my favourite dungeons in Dire Maul. When I logged out for the last time in 2012, I chilled out in the Dire Maul West library for an hour or so talking to friends and taking in the ambiance :')
Feralas has the best ambiance of all the Wow regions. It represents perfectly the wow Vanilla ambiance, magnified in this one : discovering a new world, beautiful and dangerous. The immense size of the region and its design making you feeling you’re totally alone and lost in a seemingly calm but wild and fierce world, with this green light everywhere and the elf ruins, will make me remember this zone forever
I love David Arkenstone's work for Cataclysm...I fondly remember doing so much of my crafting in Thunder Bluff just to listen to the Tauren themes on loop...
I remember the feeling of first arriving as a dwarf to the flight point on the border of Ferelas and Thousand Needles. A small little oasis just before the tiny path through the great vast forest. Such wonder.
The world was so purely good pre-Cataclysm. Now the music is what’s left of that historical lore. And it brings tears to my eyes.. Wintergrasp, Feralas.. each tune shatters my heart to pieces. Though I have to say that Suramar and Canticle of Sacrifice bring similar feelings too. Music is the undying WoW.
Recently completed the Feralas lore quest chain and liked it. Just a day earlier i was looking for this amazing zone's music , and here you are ! It is as if you were reading my thoughts or something ! Thank you
I remember the first time I was there. It was so big. I would rarely see anyone else there too. I remember first doing quests on the island too. If you enjoy questing alone, this is the zone for you.
i think a lot of players missed out on Feralas. They skipped this zone when leveling because it was pretty hard to get to and there weren't a lot of quests in the area. But this zone's visuals was amazing.
I started playing in TBC and I was used to playing RuneScape I had known about wow I just was playing RuneScape and loved it so much that I didn't want to leave to play WoW when it first came out so I finally give it a try in 2007 and since I played RuneScape I was used to going from one area to the next and I started out as a NE..so it was only natural for me to level through here...I'm so glad I took my time in each zone I played through...this zone especially is still one I remember well.
So peaceful. I remember flying to the top of one of the high leafy cliffs and parking up to wait for guildies to join for dungeon delving. So peaceful.
Vanilla WOW music and zones, back when everything felt like an epic adventure was around every corner. When your heartstrings were stirred, and you could park your character on a hill side and sit, and spend an hour enjoying the surrounds...So glad Vanilla is coming back.
I love this zone like Winterspring. I always level in both zones! The music, the landscape, and the memories I had here are amazing! Both in Classic and Retail Wow.
One of my fav places in wow, great atmosphere, mysterious portals, grinding emerald whelping, and I almost never saw anyone there, its like the place to go when you want to be alone in wow haha
The music in this zone is so beautiful and mysterious, especially Feralas 3. I used to be by the shore and just standing with my priest there while the music played and I was writing on some story I was working on, couldn't ask for a better mood-setting
I loved Feralas. I would go to thos zone regularly to get lost, literally. I would try to explore every nook and cranny I could find and hunt for rare mobs and treasure chests, but with what the game has become I couldn't help but feel a need to leave Azeroth. The old zones are all but forgotten and lifeless. I rarely came across anyone simply exploring or questing in these zones. World of Warcraft just doesn't feel like the world it was once made to be. It had been forsaken by the gods that built it, and they have been replaced by gods who don't care for the world.
Shortly after the patch when they introduced weather effects, I have a vivid memory of standing in the doorway of Camp Mojache inn while it was raining. 😌
Spending 30mins in the early hours fishing up Nightfin Snappers listening to this and having a beer after work before saying NN to all the local chat .. and people used to reply .. earned all my mount money 😊
I used to play on a private server called Molten, set in Cataclysm. I played on an instant max level server, and the different races each had their own starting zones. For whatever reason, Camp Mojache was the Orc starting zone. I distinctly remember making an Orc Fury Warrior, and upon spawning here, being ganked by several alliance players. Every time you tried to buy gear off the npc's the devs had around the town, some Alliance jackass would gank you. There was even a spot you could only get to by flying, and hunters and casters would often camp up there and shoot down at people. Eventually, I made it to the teleportation NPC, and left to gear at Undercity, the Undeads starting point. I geared there, got glyphs, weapons, did talents, etc. I went back there, and I threw everything I had at those bitches. For hours, and I mean HOURS, I was fighting these jackass spawn-campers. I eventually found some friends in some noobs that were just trying to get started. They would buy a weapon off the vendor, and charge into the fray to help however they could. I remember one Orc Death Knight was spamming Ice Chains on a Night Elf Hunter I was fighting, and it helped secure the kill. Eventually, I did loads of PVP content, and every day I would return to this zone, and watch over the new players. Anytime I saw some spawn camper, I would destroy them with my duel wield zin'rokh destroyer of worlds. (www.wowhead.com/item=64377/zinrokh-destroyer-of-worlds) This zone came to be one of my favorites, and I would hear this music on a near daily basis. I would have to chase people around on my flying mount, trying to engage them; hearing this music the whole time. I eventually built up a small reputation as the noob savior, and people would whisper me when I was off somewhere else, asking me to come to Feralas and help kill some gankers. I freaking loved that time of my life, and I will never forget it. If anyone reads this that played Molten, I hope you remember those days as much as I do. We had a great thing going there.
I’ll always remember being like a low 40 nelf Druid using cheetah and aquatic form to hide from a 60 orc warrior on an epic mount. Hiding in all the water around Feralas - it was so cool.
Feralas was probably one of my favorite places to go to right before you enter Winterspring. Coming out of a magical forest and then entering a snowy area right after you go through that tunnel with the bears was memorable because I literally felt like I changed with the environment and wanted to get a blanket and throw it over my head while still playing through Winterspring. Great times. I really hope they make a future WoW with a whole new set up and system. WoW 2.0 but better.
Such nostalgia.. I remember feeling right at home as i eagerly explored every nook and cranny :P Oh, and getting my first pet as a druid. The dart sprite hatchling. I was so invested in caring for that egg to help it hatch :D Fond, fond memories
I used to only listen to skyrim soundtrack, I never realized how good wow music is probably because I was always too wrapped up in pvp or whatever. I never thought to actually lay back and sort of explore, take it all in type of mentality. What a waste considering how much time I put in the game.
My all time favorite zone, as an alliance player I always make sure to visit this spot and sit for an hour and just take it all in... WoW is not what it once was but it is still gorgeous in all aspects.
I remember my first experience leveling in this zone back during Vanilla. Initially some of the quests were still too hard for my shaman to attempt. I remember just grinding hippogryphs for hours until I was strong enough to finally move forward. I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful zone to grind mobs in.
It's cool how many new tracks were made for old leveling zones in Cata. Really enhanced the atmosphere in a lot of zones and made them feel more unique, but Feralas music especially stands out. It suits the place so well that I completely forgot it wasn't there originally, so walking into Feralas in classic and hearing the reused jungle tune was a bit jarring.
I don't quite remember why, but I really spent a LOT of time doing quests down there, it was related to a quest for a weapon, or reputation, or both... but i raided weeks and weeks for that, thanks for the memories ;:)
When I first walked into Feralas it was a magical mysterious zone. It will forever remain that to me.

I hope so.
@Ezra "You just hit me right in the feels, with a truck."
FOUR WHEELS OF FURY"!!!11
Ahh, one of my favourite zones. So calming and magical yet epic.
Music is the undying WoW.
you know that this music didn't exist before cataclysm, right? 🙂
This zone will always be special to me as it's where I tamed my green wasp, which became my main hunter pet from then on.
Wrote my whole master thesis to this awesome track! Thanks for uploading.
The cello enchanted me the very first time I heard it and it still does to this day
this zone always had such a soothing effect on me, so pure and mysterious
So peaceful. I remember flying to the top of one of the high leafy cliffs and parking up to wait for guildies to join for dungeon delving. So peaceful.
Vanilla WOW music and zones, back when everything felt like an epic adventure was around every corner. When your heartstrings were stirred, and you could park your character on a hill side and sit, and spend an hour enjoying the surrounds...So glad Vanilla is coming back.
just what i needed, was looking for something to listen to!
I love this zone like Winterspring. I always level in both zones! The music, the landscape, and the memories I had here are amazing! Both in Classic and Retail Wow.
2:54 that hits hard. it's been years since i've heard that but it instantly brings back all the memories
The bit between 11:06 and 11:17 sounds a bit like one of the Warcraft 3 Night Elf tracks... Amazing place.
Yess!!! Agreed!
(www.wowhead.com/item=64377/zinrokh-destroyer-of-worlds)
This zone came to be one of my favorites, and I would hear this music on a near daily basis.
Definetaly my favourite zone. The ambience, the surrounding, everything...just perfect :)
I’ll always remember being like a low 40 nelf Druid using cheetah and aquatic form to hide from a 60 orc warrior on an epic mount. Hiding in all the water around Feralas - it was so cool.
Thank you so much! Ahh the nostalgia from listening to this brings me back to when I got ganked running to a thousand needles for the first time
Feralas was probably one of my favorite places to go to right before you enter Winterspring.
You're thinking of Felwood bud. But both are equally magical beautiful and mysterious
Such nostalgia.. I remember feeling right at home as i eagerly explored every nook and cranny :P Oh, and getting my first pet as a druid. The dart sprite hatchling. I was so invested in caring for that egg to help it hatch :D Fond, fond memories
This is really great, I always get amazed at how scenic the wow soundtrack is!
Thanks for all you do. God bless!
Every video you bring out I love your channel more and more and more
I've been waiting for Feralas! One of my favourite zones :)
The Nostalgia is so real...thank you so much for this
I used to only listen to skyrim soundtrack, I never realized how good wow music is probably because I was always too wrapped up in pvp or whatever. I never thought to actually lay back and sort of explore, take it all in type of mentality. What a waste considering how much time I put in the game.
Jeremy Soule from Skyrim worked too in some track of WoW , back in MoP if I remember correctly :-) anyway WoW soundtrack is pure gold!
@GamingTV Cool, I didn't know that.
@@RobertoDAlessandro Dope! And agreed!
@libertygamer1776totally agree.
My main motivation for leveling in Classic...to get here. 5 years ago I logged out of retail here. This zonda is my zen
such a great place to go questing, fishing, relaxing.
Omigod thank you thank you thank you. You don’t know how helpful this is to ppl with panic attacks 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼💐
Damn. Those hours, days, years in this game. It was something big
My all time favorite zone, as an alliance player I always make sure to visit this spot and sit for an hour and just take it all in... WoW is not what it once was but it is still gorgeous in all aspects.
Nice! New stuff from you! I listen to these mixes all the time while studying, helps with my wait for Classic WoW too.
The zone with the most primal nightelvish feel to it!
Love the old ruins in Feralas. Great memories.
Can we all just take a moment and thank the Harpist for this amazing soundtrack?
underrated for sure! I never really gave the ferallas ost a chance. its maybe the best.
Back at it again! Well done bro!
I've been waiting for you to make this video for a long time! Thank you very much!
you seriously rule everness. i especially like the WoW vanilla(classic) zones. :-)
Thank you, brings so many nostalgic feelings
Yay! My weekly Everness video fix has arrived!
Yet another zone I'm looking forward to in the Classic WoW release. Great video! Thanks!
The last minute. Pure beauty O_o
Nostalgia just hit me int the face with a sledgehammer.
nothing quite like being ganked by nostalgia
I hope that one day we'll be able to return to these zones with a new extension.
This music is so relaxing it’s helping me with my OCD and Tourette’s syndrome
Thank you so much for all theses magical videos. You are truly epic and I hope you read my comment :D
I love to chill in Feralas. Best zone imho.
Spent a good month in this zone. Good times o-so-long ago.
I can't even remember what the old Feralas music was but Cataclysm certainly improved upon it.
I can't believe I'm crying listening to this. It might be about time to go back to this game lol
Ive never even played WoW but this makes me want to
I wish I haven't either, so that i could rediscover it
Oh god bro , do it , u wont regret this decision i swear ^^
Once you pop you can't stop
Such a beautiful zone and soundtrack
I don't quite remember why, but I really spent a LOT of time doing quests down there, it was related to a quest for a weapon, or reputation, or both... but i raided weeks and weeks for that, thanks for the memories ;:)
gorgeous. love this zone.
