Elwynn Forest - Music & Rain Ambience | World of Warcraft Classic

- Elwynn Forest, the Forest of Elwynn or simply Elwynn, is a vast woodland of stately hardwoods nestled just below the foothills of the Burning Steppes to the north. The idyllic Redridge Mountains lie to the east, and to the south, across the Nazferiti River is where Duskwood is located. It is the heartland of the human Kingdom of Stormwind and consequently is the starting point of all human characters.
Little is known of Elwynn's history before Stormwind was founded centuries ago by the Arathi bloodline of Stromgarde in Lordaeron. Ever since humans first settled in the forest, it has thrived under their stewardship.
Elwynn Forest was captured by the Horde during their bloody campaign to Stormwind in the First War. The resources culled from the bountiful woods helped fuel the Horde's war machine. Much of the forests were razed as the orcs marched across Elwynn. The town of Goldshire and the Abbey at Northshire were both tragically destroyed by the Horde. When Stormwind fell to the orcs and Anduin Lothar led the humans to Lordaeron, the Stormreaver and Twilight's Hammer clans assumed domains in Elwynn forest. When the humans of Stormwind finally retook their city at the end of the Second War, they regained Elwynn as well. It cost the kingdom of Stormwind a significant amount of gold and resources to rebuild their broken homeland. As a result, the kingdom's economy has flagged since it was rebuilt. Many of the middle and lower classes became fed up with high taxes and unpaid labor in service of the kingdom. Many of these dissidents defected to form the Defias Brotherhood (led by the Stonemasons Guild, the architects who reconstructed Stormwind and weren't paid anything). Still, against all the odds, Elwynn has returned to much of its former majesty and glory. Northshire Abbey was rebuilt and has become a recruiting center of sorts for the Stormwind army. Goldshire and its famous Lion's Pride Inn have returned to their former glory as a bustling hub of activity. Today, the only reminders of the Horde's occupation are a few scattered orcish catapults, broken and rotting. Meanwhile, the humans of Stormwind rejoice as Elwynn once again becomes the pride of the Kingdom of Stormwind.

It's very hard to balance the music with the game sound ambience. I hope it's appropriate for most of you. I've gave it the "sleeping test" and it worked for me. :)

Nice, thank you! I really appreciate the feedback.
I have 4 devices with decent / good speakers in my house but they all sound different. It's just hard to work in these conditions. But I am happy I've received positive feedback :)
I’m 90% of the time on earphones (buds) because I listen 90% of the time at work. So consider sound excellent on that kind of device :)
I've seen the Patreon now. Thank you very much Frederic
This will do juuuust fine. The only way it could be better, is if it were 3 hours long ;)

I felt that.
I probably will never experience something like this again in my entire life…. Can’t believe it’s just a video game ….
You can only play the game for the first time once
It's actually just a video game. But it was the video game. Now games have no soul, only money & streaming rules them all.
U could go outside and explore out there. I know what u mean though. That adventurous part of your spirit needs to be satisfied
I rmb starting in Close Beta, me and my brother running in Dark Shore aimlessly just exploring, and seen a lv 20 drawf warrior for the first time with sick ass gears (20 was the max level back then I believe). The music and the ambience.... holy fuck. Totally agree with all you bros, this feeling will always hold a place in our herarts.
It was a cultural phenomenon. All our friends and our friends' friends played.
"You no take candle!" 🕯️⛏️
Man, so much nostalgia remembering helping my real life best friend here.
My vanilla character was a level 60 night elf priest that I cherished to death. I really enjoyed every minute and moment I levelled her, I was like eleven years old so I never took the game serious. I clicked I back peddled, I knew nothing besides my learner's levelling experience. Despite that, I still got to rank 9 and did large group content called"raids"... I was apparently in a top 10 guild on the server, I didn't realise at the time what that meant as I was pretty casual. How I got into the guild is perhaps my most fond memory in Vanilla. When I was levelling my priest, I often helped people for no apparent reason other than just having some fun.. coincidentally, one of the guys I helped was the guild master of a top guild. We did lots of levelling together, eventually he noticed I wasn't in a guild, I didn't know what a guild was then, well, he invited me to the guild and introduced me to other members and such. I didn't understand much, all I thought was they were just other cool guys to hang out with. After taking serval months to reach max level I started to get invites to raids. In the end, my guildies decked me in tier 2 gear. Still, I just thought that I was just playing with a bunch of nice people.
I'm twenty six now, that guild master and I both stayed in contact and we met each other in real life and went to BlizzCon twice.
With the release of classic, we'll be playing together again. I can't wait.
Anyway, just wanted to share my little vanilla experience. It really was special to me.
Thanks for the video and sorry about my English, not my first language
There's nothing wrong with your language, in this channel we only talk WoW - which is the language you talk.
You have beautiful memories about Vanilla, and I hope you will relive again everything. :)
Salutations.
@@Meisio Thank you
I love that. Our guilds were our family's. No other game has ever done this and WoW hasn't been like that since Wrath.
@@DestinLegends they really were. And they have helped those without families establish what it means to be part of one. Some of the people I know from back then I would go so far as to consider my real family. If any of them needed help, I would be there.
Björn * I was 8 years old when I started in 2007, so imagine... I was so clueless about the whole game, I just played and enjoyed every moment in it.
I could just stay up all night,, wandering around in the WoW starter zones. It's therapy.
Didn’t know how good we had it, till it’s gone.
20 years i've been waiting for the next game to explore and get lost in like vanilla wow, unfortunately i never found any game like that. With melancholy i look back to the good old times. The world, the music and the community. Has been a blessing to be part of the journey everyone.
It is not coming. Enjoy those wonderful memories.
MRRGGGGLLL GUUUGGGLLL.
I can't cast that yet.
This song has a healing effect when heard after so long...
I love these videos. I love wow. Started in my 20s and I’m 42 now, still play. But there’s times I log on just to sit and listen to the music and ambience. All friends I once had are no longer on or moved around and changed names. It’s sad, but I wouldn’t change this memory. It’s home. 🫶🏼
this was a world crafted with love, and that love spilled into each one of our hearts, filling a void we never knew existed and which now cannot be replenished
Well said friend, well said 👏
The horde music was glorious.. but the alliance music was enchanting
Still, after two decades, I always feel the same beautiful emotions when I first started playing it.
HEAR YE, HEAR YE.
Lass and Lads, World of Warcraft wasn't just some silly old game we'd play, but instead...
it was a world we lived in.
Rainy days were my favorites back in the days. That and snowstorms in winterspring.
I need to make one more movie and than I'll do the snowstorm in Winterspring. Movies with weather are back on my channel :)
Salutations Frederic! :)
You do not tell a lie. Best moments in game to me also! A rainy day in Stranglethorn on the beach fishing.
They were so silly to add new areas and not to add weather to them. The weather really improved the immersive elements of the game, and for places like Outland, they could've done really wild and exciting things with magical weather patterns.
@@KareemPinkston until you hear the stealth sound, then stun locked and killed by a rogue :(
when weather was introduced to the game was when i got really addicted, oddly enough. it made the world so real to me.
There are no girls on internet
Old music yet so many memories... I am not new myself but I think what WoW left in each of us will remain inside until death.
I cannot get enough of this. Now, in WoTLK I am fixing my weak auras, getting things ready for the raid and I have this in my background.
Some things you never end to miss.
Ah, yes. This is the correct Elwynn Forest. Thank you and God bless you.
Ahh...The first zone I saw, and first music I heard, when I logged onto World of Warcraft for the first time, in Feb 2005. So much nostalgia.. :'(
Hogger, princess were pretty challenging, but the thing that really interested me was how it was only a river across from dusk wood and you can see skull on a wolf while lvling, which spiked a lot of curiosity and sense of danger. The run from east to west was always tiring tho. Thanks for the vid! Helps me sleep with ease.
Man, I miss those days :(
This soundtrack always takes me home. Back to my "childhood" when I started playing World of Warcraft as a gnome mage at the age of 11 under the watchful eyes of my mother who showed me an amazing game.
I just miss it so much. I loved watching World of Warcraft grow but I also hated it. Stopped playing when Pandaria came out. Of course I relapsed many times and still play sometimes but it's not the same and it never will be even if the classic servers air it will never be the same experience as growing up with this game.
I totally agree, it'll *never* be the same... What we truly miss is those years, when we didn't have to worry about serious things (nowadays we should worry and try to right the wrongs we see, until we've solved most of humankind's problems - nearly impossible to do when most aren't even trying, but yeah).
But it's still quite a relaxing experience and classic could be a nice way to start new friendships or resume old ones, assuming there will be enough spare time for that...
0:05 like a stab in the heart
Agreed
There is something about Elwynn Forest's theme. Best music, ambiance and relaxation for me.
Wow... remembering my first moments in that beloved world, really want to return to travel those roads, with rustic houses and mines, maybe I will fish in its vast lake again, complete all quests from farm to farm, to end up getting my horse at the windmill.
I miss those days of being new to the game, meeting amazing friends in my guild. I'll never forget the joy this brought me. The music makes my heart literally yearn (I know sounds ridiculous) for those days again. I started playing in my late twenties. Only for 3 years I played. I'm 41 now and I'm grateful for what this game did for me. It brought me happiness.
I know you posted this 2 years ago, but your comment really resonated with me. I’m the same age as you and the yearning heart is so real, not ridiculous at all. I get this overwhelming feeling of nostalgia - almost melancholic. I was personally going through a bit of a rough time in life and this world was a great place to escape that. I probably spun my wheels and took longer than I should have to get it together- maybe because of the game, but it was there for me when I needed that escape most (as ridiculous as that probably sounds). Been a handful of years since I last stepped foot in my old home away from home in Azeroth - probably won’t ever return truth be told. Those are years of my life I remember fondly though. Great people, adventures, and experience I wouldn’t trade if I could. I miss WoW a lot- the “newness” of the time- something reinstating my account today simply wouldn’t provide anymore.
Oh god just take me back
It's really something how perfect some of the original WoW zones were. I've seen Elwynn countless times since I started playing in vanilla and it still doesn't get old
I can't wait to experience this again with new friends that I will meet. I will for sure take my time and enjoy every bit of corner in wow.
I remember I saw for the first time raining in wow. I told my parents that im sick just so I can stay at home and play in the rain. I was sitting for like 15 minutes under the tree and pretending that im waiting for the rain to stop
I loved the story :D But next time don't pretend you are sick and do go to school, okay?
It was a joke, I hope you are all grown up now and make excuses not to go to work! :D
Salutations :)
@@Meisio Haha :) Funnily enough I'm a doctor now.. :D can't wait to play once again with never ending adventure
@@millionbucks I still play as well! The days are still great on wow :)
I played the original WoW a few years in my early teens after it came out. I was greatly drawn to it as you could get the feeling of achieving success so often in attaining greater levels, gear, and working with others. That's nice when your background is a not so good family situation and being poor for the most part. It's too bad that though a lot of the game experience is memorable, that it really never did any good for my life. I became fatter, withdrawn, and less aware of how the real world works. Though it's bittersweet, I do like coming back to listen to the music sometimes.
I played it with my friends in high school. Playing with real life friends didn't make us withdrawn. You don't get any less fatter watching TV shows on the couch which all kids did. Not sure I really understand your "less aware of how the real world works" claim. I think there's good experiences to take away from it if played the right way.
@@krschu00 Well, I was religiously into WoW at about 14-16 yrs of age with putting in well over 12 hrs of regular daily playtime. Interaction with friends and family suffered as well as my education. That definitely led to being behind in some areas as I grew into an adult.
The truth is, whether MMO based gaming companies admit it or not, their products are designed to reel folks into that kind of lifestyle. If it keeps you coming back for more and more perceived sense of accomplishments then they will keep subscribers. If you attain long-term social bonds, even better.
@@christian_7500 the gambling companies don't shut everything down because a small portion of their revenue stream is people who have an addiction. All the bars don't shut down because a small portion of their revenue stream have an addiction. If the bar is a good business and makes great beer then it should be celebrated, not shamed for giving an alcoholic a place to drink. I think you're putting too much at fault on Wow and not on yourself. You had an addiction. That was on you to course correct. My friends and played at the exact same age, 14-16, and we had tons of fun playing 2-3 hours on a week day and 4-5 on a Saturday or Sunday. Lots of good memories and I'm thankful we had a fun co-op game to play together.
@@krschu00 I'm also thankful for this game for all the experiences. But I can see where addiction and other factors can make it something bad overall.
@@theforgot3n1 So is your local pub bad overall? Are the people that work there bad overall? I'm genuinely asking.
Hearing this always brings me back to when I was 8 & watching my older brother play his human paladin all the time, occasionally letting me wander through this huge forest.
Hehe... More or less what I am doing with my son since he was 4 (now he is 7) :-)

I like that it's sunny, and the rain begins going out Stormwind's gates, then at end, the rain stops and sun comes back out while going back in.
Thank you for *watching* :)
Feels like home
Still playing off and on since 2007 it took me about a year to get to max level my first charachter I always go back to grizzly hills when starting a new toon to listen to the music and fish by the stream with the bears its so chill.
I remember the first time I left the starting area with my level 5 toon and entered the forest heading towards Stormwind. My jaw dropped I was blown away with the beauty and peaceful calming music. This game completely sucked me in. Ive heard WoW has been called "electronic crack".....they aint lyin.
play this at my funeral

This music takes me back to my teen-age, when I first wandered around this place. Ever since then the human race is my favourite, and the music of this area, and this area itself plays a huge part in it. Right now as I'm listening, I feel myself 17 again. Thanks for uploading!
I was 23 when I've wondered these forests (that makes me pretty old now :) ), but I share your nostalgia feelings - I feel young and without worrying about anything while walking these paths.
Thank you for listening.
@@Meisio I'm happy that among many others I was in a generation, who had the opportunity to grow up in the golden era of this game. Tomorrow during work I'll listen the video from the beginning to the end, then Westfall's music will follow it.. :-)
To be 17 again... staying up until 4am dying to murlocs after you just bought the game.
"Last online 17 years ago" vibes
listening to this almost makes me sad in a way. so so nostalgic.
Been playing WoW since elate 2006 and this music never gets old/. I've played through ELwynns eval times!
This game brought so much happiness to me! So nostalgic! Calms my mind to listen to the music. My main character was a level 60 undead warrior but I’ve played around in all the other lands too. Good times! ❤
Still remember running south from Goldshire to find the farms and mine like it was yesterday. The music, setting and newness of it all just sucking me right in. Exploring the mine in Vanilla with a level 6 warrior was an adventure all its own...as were any mobs that ran and aggrod other nearby mobs. Loved it.
I've played wow back in the days of cataclysm and had tried lich king before that too. I've come to realize how important this game has been for me and how it was such a great thing to have when I came back home from school, running, just to play a bit of wow and to get my mind away from studying.
It was such a big world,so much to explore and it was overwhelming. I remember watching my big brother playing and leveling up his hunter night elf through the nights. I was always thinking that I would be that pro one day and hoping to become stronger I played more and more.
Even though I didn't realize it then,it was actually a great experience to have.
Nowadays I hear people in pain, for those times will never come back for them. And in some way, people like you bring those times back.
These videos must take a lot of work and man,I must admit,it is worth its time. The work you put in these is just great and I really encourage you to keep doing it. This channel is extremely underrated for it's content and you yourself deserve much more as well. I would love to donate you some money if I wasn't broke af but for now I hope likes will satisfy you. I hope that one day you will be rewarded for your dedication and passion towards this game.
After all,I will strongly say, that not all heroes wear capes.
You are one of those heroes.
Take care m8.

God how much I love these videos.
I've just gone through the wow diary (from John Staats) about how they created wow. And the diary confirmed what I thought : they designed the 4 human zones first (Elwynn, Westfall, Redridge and Duskwood) and I truly think it shows. Those zones are so fleshed out and detailed with decors like the various guard towers, they have more of a backstory to them (the entire defias story and the entire Abercrombie plot), they feel more naturally blended into each other (river flowing from elwynn through westfall), etc.
Anyway great video as usual !
Those first few notes let everything rush back in for me ...
We were the strangers in far off lands, where we knew so little.
I a world where actual passionate ppl built it, where stories were told by text and by the suroundings, not the big ones, but the small ones. A torn camp near a mountainrange ful of ogres, a wrecked cart along the route ... Where they made something, skipping all due process just to have it in there because it wouldn't feel complete.
Where something could be there, in plain view, just to give the world some extra shading.
Yes, that is still being done, but it feels like they did it so much better back then.
The music the same, great music but it's not as intune with the zones as back then.
They know this is a low level zone where people are still picking up the ropes, let them explore slowly.. and the music fits perfect with that, it's chill.. It's saying to take your time, it's all here ...
Perfectly stated.
A little thing I like is you show the storm roll in in the beginning, and clear up in the end. It's a nice touch, adds to the ambience.
Put this on repeat for an entire week.
Now that's a challenge I'm gonna take part in!
Music to my ears :D

So relaxing and so filled with joy. I'll never forget this music.
