- We don't usually make vids like this, but we really enjoyed all the reaction videos people posted last time so we thought we'd share our own! We'll get back to making regular Sawdust Films videos soon.... after we watch the trailer 100 more times =P

Travelling through hyperspace is much faster than lightspeed (otherwise, it would take them years to travel across the galaxy, when in fact it typically takes them a couple of minutes or hours at most).

I did use the wrong term for the hyperdrive though (since "warp" is from star trek). but that's cause of all the excitement from the trailer :)

But that has nothing to do with your reply that tried to correct me saying "warp speed" by suggesting i should have said "light speed"
Where, in fact, both cases (warp drive and hyperdrive) are used for (much) faster-than-light speeds.
So the speed isn't (that of) "light" (in addition to it not being called "warp").

Absolutely beautiful trailer, absolutely beautiful looking movie, looks amazing. This trailer sure is emotional, coming from a big Star Wars fan. Star Wars was a huge part of my childhood and this is what we have been waiting for. And we still have five more Star Wars movies after this to look forward too.

Star Wars is ageless. I have been watching reactions. Everyone from the high school kids of today to those who saw the originals in the theaters are shaking with excitement. Its wonderful. I cried and had to watch the trailer 3 times. You may disagree, but Star Wars is one of the greatest stories ever told.

+John Doe I love Star Wars..and it lead me to Kurosawa classics as well as Flash Gordon...It also, lead me to read Dune..and yes watch Star Trek,, but it all stemmed from experience of Star Wars...

+ricku1967 Track down the video of the girl that plays Rev (whatever the girls name is) she has a similar reaction. They don't actually get to see the stuff with effects in so a lot of it is new to them too, though she does know more of the story...lucky girl.

oh i have seen hers and the one who plays Finn. those were priceless as well, yes, they dont know what the film will actually look like till the trailers and the whole movie is released.
Finally saw the film! Loved it. Felt sooo lucky to be back in the universe we know and love. A few thoughts::: SPOILERS AHEAD::: FIRST THING: To the people saying Kylo Ren is weak. You realize he got shot in the gut by chewie's bowcaster which was blowing things apart earlier on in the film. For goodness sake, he was bleeding out in the snow when he went to face Finn and Rey. I'm surprised he was even able to stand much less fight! Not surprised a trained stormtrooper and a woman who proved she could fight earlier on in the film were at LEAST able to hold their own against an injured Kylo Ren. Another thing people have to realize is that this is the first chapter of a larger story. Things WILL be answered. The pieces have been set in this film and I feel they will pay off in episodes 8 and 9. Can't wait to see a fully trained Rey and Kylo kick serious ass! (and as to why Rey is so powerful, we'll find out)

Well, after all, trailers are skillfully designed to do that very thing...Entice and excite.
But what's also awesome is when old trailers can still hit you deep later on when you watch them on DVD bonuses. lol.

Watching this reaction video still gives me chills.
The reaction videos like this are almost as amazing as the trailer itself. Tears welling up at the very first shot. Can't wait for Christmas.

+SawdustFilms i saw it yeasterday(not gonna spoil!) december 17th, it preimered here 11:55 pm december 16th and i live in Iceland. How come it showed here 2 days before it shows in US and it's a US movie?
+Lebbi Looper It depends when the film are released in your country. In France for example, film are release the wednesday, that's why we got it the 16th. of December.

I'm an OG JETI. I saw the first one IV in theaters when it came out at least 3 times. There had been nothing like it before that, ships didn't move in space. U just had stills of the Enterprise with someone drawing lines coming out of it. And VI with a world war 2 type dogfight seen. Exploded our heads off, all done with models and film. Im glad new generations are so looking forward to a world ive watched unfold since the 70's. :)

There is a rumour that Luke doesn't appear until the last quarter, maybe 20 minutes of film. They reckon that the laying it out that Luke goes into hiding or exile which is why they don't know anything about what happened and it is a legend

Just saw this. THIS I like. She was approaching what I experienced. I'm a 51 year old male and it hit me, and my childhood, so hard I actually bawled. Through this, and the movie.
This movie has been out for a month and a half now. The trailer's been out for 3 and a half. And even having seen the movie and watched this trailer a thousand times, it still gives me chills and man tears every. single. time.
So your reaction 3 months ago is basically a mirror image of what this trailer STILL does to me.
One of the best reaction videos. I have seen a lot and for some reason I can't stop watching them.

I'm not sure why you would be sad they didn't show Luke. They are intentionally hiding him because he is missing at the beginning of the film and the heroes are on a quest to find him. Not showing him adds to the mystery and will only make it more exciting when we see him for he first time in the cinema. That is a good thing.

This trailer is perfect and should be used as a future example on how to drum up emotion, fun, and intrigue WITHOUT giving away everything. Let the "aura" of a film be the selling point. Star Wars trailers generally have always excelled at that. But great reaction and great post.

+SawdustFilms I'm glad they didn't show Luke other than what we've seen in the teasers! What I think is they're hyping up the idea this is 30+ years after the fall of the Empire, stories that were told about a Jedi are just rumors through-out the galaxy, imagine how many people will be roaring and cheering in the theaters when Luke makes an appearance, and I'm sure its going to be epic when he does. He's not even in the official poster, so it will definitely be bring goose bumps when we see him in his first appearance.
Great reaction video. It is beautiful to relive the excitement of the first viewing by watching others see it for the first time. I loved when you yelled at the football broadcast for delaying the preview. I am a football fan but was feeling the same thing at that moment.

They did show Luke, he was the person touching R2-D2. You could tell because of his robotic arm

This is exactly how I felt...I cried. I felt tears of joy for the amazing things those characters will go through. I also felt sad for everything they've gone through. Imagine how being at the biggest funeral and biggest wedding at the same time. That's how I felt.
It hits you the moment the Han and Leia theme starts playing. At least for me. The FEELS...

Having seen the film, I think this trailer is amazing. It captures the essence of each character, without giving anything away. And the slow build to the light saber confrontation at the end is masterful. Not to mention the music. Wow.
I've seen the movie twice and still watch the trailer now and then. Not because the trailer is better than the movie, but because the movie actually makes the trailer better.

Just wanted to say that I cried every time I watch and specifically when the falcon appears along with the soundtrack. I do not expect it to be much like this trailer. I have to thank so far. I loved their reactions.

Luke IS in the trailer. He's the guy putting his mechanized hand on R2D2's head in front of a campfire or something. Loved hearing the Han and Leia love theme music when Han begins to talk.
Those dogfighting scenes look incredible.
I think this is the best trailer ever made.

I think that they showed Luke briefly when he put his mechanical right hand on top of Artoo. That shot was in one of the earlier teaser trailers, though. It's easy to miss.

They do show Luke, he's the one who's crouching by Artoo in the later moments of the trailer; can tell cause of his metal hand. :)
