I was thinking about how excited they all must be! My parents and I lived in N Texas, I got married and moved to California, it’s not something I would ever do again, I think children should be raised with their grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins nearby. But,
when we were planning a trip back home, I was so excited I’d call my Mom almost daily…and that was before cell phones! I called so much that one time she said hello Lola…… she just knew it would be me. I miss them terribly, regret that I didn’t spend as much time with them as I should. It’s ironic to me that I spent years wanting to move back to Texas, and I finally did, but my parents are gone, my only sibling is gone, only one nephew will keep in contact with me, the other two are angry over politics!!! We often don’t realize just how precious our time with our family is until they are no longer with us….Now I’m 80, I spend a lot of time reminiscing about
all of my yesterdays. I know Trena’s folks will be ecstatic to have them all back home! 🤗

Turbo Trena! What a history that chair has. So sad about the DED infection decimating the species. Same with Emerald Ash Borer. Glad you could save the piece and give it a new life to be filled with generations of new memories.

Very timely video. 9 hours ago when you posted this video, I was in the shop trying to knock a dining room chair apart and reglueing it back together.

A chair. A family thread tied. Years of paint. Saw marks. Loving restoration. A lonely chair given some love. I was actually in tears when it was sitting there all dolled up. How spiritually fitting that an old family chair closes the door. ❤

Dear Trena, thank you so much for taking us on the journey from Windsor to Saskatoon -- don't think those of us, in the UK, can really appreciate the vast, rolling distances, and open spaces, that Canada has to offer. ~~ here the longest road distance, from one end to the other is less than 850 miles. (The entire UK, would fit 2.7 times into Saskatchewan alone).
Now my "Trena Friends" and I, are eagerly awaiting to see your new workshop, and appreciating all the magical transformations you create! Love, and very warmest wishes from London UK 😃👍

Thank you Trena for all the incredible work you did in restoring my mum’s kitchen chair/work bench!
I would often come home from school as a little girl, and find her in the kitchen-sawing and hammering, as she created something that would make our life better. Then she’d brew some tea, wipe the sawdust off the chair and we’d sit and talk…after that, she’d clean up the tools and wood, and cook supper!
If the Good Lord allowed Mum to look down from Heaven and watch you working on that chair, I know she would have been cheering you on!
I think of you-and of Mum-every time I walk into my study and see my beautiful elm chair with its lovely wood grain, and saw marks of memory.
Thanks too for the trip footage. We stopped for pics at the Manitoba sign many years ago on our first journey to Sask, the journey that ultimately led to your part in this story!
    Love & prayers,
    Your mil

dear Trena, it is always difficult to leave a place where you have spent a lot of time working in your workshop and when you are passionate you do not count the time to restore their former nobility to all those pieces of furniture on which you are working. You have asked a lot of poorly asked questions to arrive at the desired result so you turn a page in your life, both personal and professional, you can be proud of all this work accomplished even if you sometimes doubted or faced unwanted situations. so good luck in your new workshop may you continue to enjoy restoring these magnificent pieces of furniture which have accompanied their owners throughout their lives and those of their children and grandchildren and restored their former glory. Bravo Trena for this eternal quest for the perfect job.

WOW! MasterClass in disassembly! I learned SO MUCH. Thank you. Great results. Love ELM - it's making a comeback. "Some of the surviving older elms have been tested and, amazingly, are disease resistant." There is hope. Some wood suppliers are selling elm, but you'd have to check which elm species it is. Some hybrids developed crossed with asian elm (which is disease resistant). // Loved the travelogue. So MUCH scenery in Canada, wherever you go. Where was that ferry? Gorgeous shoreline as you pulled out. Looking forward to your new shop and MANY more wonderful wood projects. 🤗

Trena, that was a cool video. You showed us your very last piece of furniture being restored in your old shop, a simple piece, for family, that's been in the family for awhile, very nice! And your long journey across a good portion of Canada all the way from Ontario back home to Saskatchewan to take over your Dad's furniture repair shop was very pretty and it showed a lot of the rural, wide expanses of Canada. (We know about wide open expanses in the large states in the northwestern United States.) We loved this final video in your old shop and seeing part of your long move; we can't wait to see what comes next and seeing you do more amazing work.

Saskatoon huh? I grew up in Saskatoon but now live in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. I frequently go to Saskatoon to visit my 88 year old Dad. Now that they gave twined the Yellowhead all the way between here and there it only takes 5 hours to drive there. Saskatoon is such a beautiful little city. Such a nice drive. I remember doing it when I was posted (I’m military) from Edmonton to Petawawa, Ont and then from Petawawa to Yellowknife, NT. Petawawa to Yellowknife was quite the drive let me tell you. Nice but long drive. Excellent job on that chair. It sure had an abnormally large number of paint layers on it; what a lot of work it was. As always you did great work. Looking forward to seeing your videos from Saskatoon.

Found myself in Wawa for the longest time before I could hitch a ride out of there. Camped on Vancouver Island for a few days, visited Kamloops, Jasper, Banff, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal and then home to The States and my little Rhode Island. Some of the best times of my life. Anyway, looking forward to new shows once you've built your new shop and gotten settled in. Good luck in your new place. Wishing you all the best!

Wow! What a trip! The scenery was beautiful and yes, what a way to build roads. I did notice how nice your roads were compared to ours in the U.S. So happy you made it safe and sound. How nice was it to have a welcoming committee just waiting for you! I wish you the best in building your new shop and horse barn. That is a whole lot of work for you to get done. I really can't wait for you to start posting regularly again. You are so talented and I learn something new each time I watch one of your video. I hope you are happy with the move and look forward to seeing you work your magic again!!

Wouldn’t like to get on your bad side!
It must be sad to leave your home & workshop, but what a wonderful new adventure you are embarking on. Your new property looks amazing and I’m sure your horse will love all the new smells and getting to know her new home. And Nessa too.
Thank you so much for taking us with you on your move. Canada is an absolutely beautiful country and vast. It was lovely to see some of it again. Your family looked so happy to see you all again too. ❤

that was a really lovely way to restore that chair. leaving the things that give it character and show its history while making it look good is really something that makes the result special. good luck in your new place!
