With the way the sidewall flexes on that style trailer, you may want to place a minor taper at the end of the 2x4 (think french cleat) to draw in the sidewalls when under load...
Retired builder, new subscriber. Owned Gentleman Jim's Construction Company New Hampshire USA. Happy to see what you're doing, looks great. Maybe next time don't screw one board in while trying to insert other boards in holes, by leaving one vertical board out approx 6-8" away you can slide all horizontal pieces into all holes and then slide vertical piece where it belongs w slats already locked in. If it makes sense. Lol. God Bless you folks. Stay Safe Stay Healthy Positive and Blessed. Amen 🙏✌️ from Big Jim New Hampshire USA aka Boston Strong
One suggestion for your camper trailer, you know those commericals you see on TV for the magnetically closeing screens. I think a set of those would be nice for the tailgate of the trailer and maybe for the side door also. As someone who never cares for camping since I had twenty years of camping, better know as field exercises in the Army. But screens are a god send to keep the flying critters outside.
Nice build! Good on you for going after it. You'll love having it. For the bed rails: add another set of supports on the outside of each bed position on ONE of the vertical rails - making the opening wider. That way, when you start lifting the bed, one person can set the bed on the extra supports (like a shelf) while the second person wrestles to find the opening. Watching at 24:10, she could have set her end on the extra supports while you wrestled your end up and slid it in. Makes that operation MUCH easier.
I just came across this video and I must say after I have watched quite a few DIY builds, I really like how you do yours. The reason being is that you explain how and why you are doing your builds/projects. A lot of people do not do this.
You should lower the slats just an inch or so. That way the matress won't slide around as much. Also round the corners of the side hook parts. Easier to get the bed to come in and out. Great video btw. Really good pace and composition.
It turned out great love how you guys made the bed system so it goes up and down that easy. The wheels and tires do make it look like a new trailer. Looks like the perfect camping trailer. Great job
"it goes up and down that easy"??? No, that's NOT easy. They both had to lift it to the notched position and they have to do it every time before they go to sleep at night. They need to install an easier way to do this, because once you strain your back, you will ALWAYS have a sore back for the rest of your life. I should know all about that as it has happened to me. Been there. Done that.
Now all janitors 4 of the screwjacks that have the hex head crank on them tour. You can take and use an impact to Jack him. Up-and-down to level the trailer. When you go camping mounted to the floor the frame of the trailer that way you will have a way to level it when you get to where you're going and then when you. Jack jack' up. They automatically sit against the bottom of the trailer and don't come down because they're a screw. Jack kinda like a scissor screw Jack. They make it in all cars. Now which you know you gotta buy a heavy duty 14 the trailer
LOVE! The idea for the adjustable bed height. I'm 100% using this technique. Way better than the multiple e-track setup I was initially envisioning for my build.
Loved it! 😍 Ambition Strikes was when I met you guys and I am so looking forward to your delivery there! You make me laugh while learning new ways to do things! So happy to have found you❣🇨🇦
How do I know if it's straight? There's a thing called a spirit level. 😉 You could fit some pulleys to the roof in order to lift the bed up, then you would only have to manoeuvre it into the slots.
YOU TOO HAVE WHAT PEOPLE SEARCH A LIFE TIME FOR, AND NEVER FIND, YOU COMPLEMENT EACH OTHER .THE LOVE AND RESPECT YOU HAVE FOR EACH OTHER COMES ACROSS IN EVERY VIDEO...
Love your content! Can't wait to see the Ambition Strikes collaboration. Learn the 3-4-5 method for squaring up things. Best thing the trades has taught me
Love your trailer! I've seen 100's of videos and yours is the ideal size for room vs towability... Your power supply and rope lights are better than my solution... I tow my v-nose 4x6x5ft tall cargo conversion with a 4cyl Scion XD. I extended the tongue 5ft added an aluminum deck. Front cabinet holds am/fm-cd/dvd player, 24" TV, solar control, inverter, and speakers. Has room to haul 2 ebikes or a S-200 scooter! Sofa-bed, and AC makes it comfy in the summer. Roof rack and awning are a nice touch as well. Have fun out there!
Lots of utube videos out there…some very ez to watch some not.. you two have a special kind of vibe that makes your video entertaining and fun to watch. Looking for more. Tc from Nevada
Just make sure you know what size they are. Then go to Harbor freight and buy that 1. Socket, get you a battery power impact that you can put in the trailer. And then that way, you can roll fix your tires but also, while you're at Harbor freight, get those screwjacks and I was telling you about any other comment. To Jack up the trailer and level it, and then make sure you got a socket that fit the screwjacks. If if it don't come with a socket on it, get somebody to weld one on it that way, you can just put an impact on it and roll it crank. Him up when there you go
I really like you guys! It’s so nice to see young people like you! I’m confused though because I would Guess yall are in your early 20’s but you talk about how yall have done this or that for years and your knowledge level far supersedes the average 40 year old. So, how young are you guys?
I've just discovered your channel & subscribed with all notifications. Well done, kids. I love how you figured out your system and showed the progress, warts and all. It's simple, efficient, and done on a tight budget. With the mother-to-be in mind, a counterweight should be fitted to help with the bed-raising and lowering process.
So glad you took the time to relax and enjoy each others company, you wont get much time when the baby is born. Having kids is the hardest, time consuming but most rewarding "job" ever.
*Awesome... enjoy your holiday break away 🙂 oh and don't forget to allow room for a portacot for bubs and space for all of bub's stuff, nappies, many changes of clothes etc etc once bubs arrives 🙂nz*
You guys are adorable, awesome video. I just subscribed and I got the same tape measure love that thing all of the different kind of tape measures they have are DOPE
I really like your bed idea. It won't work for my build (unless I can figure out how to raise my wife's recliner), but it's a great idea. I hope you don't mind, but I shared it with several cargo trailer conversion groups I belong to.
Please when using the expanding foam wear gloves. If it gets on your skin you just have to wait for the skin below to wear off. Acetone, gasoline, or naptha will help a bit but you will most likely be left with a thin layer on the skin for a week or so.
You don't want to use blocks? Put screwjax under there, madam to the door and then you you just leave them on the door and when you get to your website, do it like you do your trade or the leveling jacks, you just use your impact and level them up and you don't ever have to remove. Because you can both them all the way through the door and they'll be there Forever. And then you can just use your impact. Raise 'Em up and Lev' Em to whatever height I need for the tailgate to be. I don't level for a deck
wow this is awesome for the bed set up. you should sell the design blue prints dude. we have a toy hauler. and just move our king bed from the house every trip in to the trailer. its the amazon black metal twin frames and mattress pain in the butt, this tho yall built breaks down is not perm.Awesome
You know it's a good day when Molly and Dylan drop a new video. Your going to need the AC, it's hot right now in the South. I'm in Destin and it's been cooking.
Wouldn't it make sense to have your power strips plugged into the electric generator all the time and the generator plugged into shore power all the time so you just plug into shore power and power/charge up everything at once?
That’s such a cool concept for a multipurpose camper/trailer! I’m definitely going to keep that in mind if I find a good trailer deal on Marketplace! Thanks for sharing :)
So how long did you spend thinking how you'd get the cross ties to fit in the slots? So . . . You could have just screwed Simpson ties to the walls. BTW, where I live plugging a power strip into another power strip is a code violation. You could plug 2 into your Bluetti, but not into each other.
take a 4 foot 2x4 lay it on the floor scribe a line along the far edge. pivot the 2x about the far corner until you get to 67 7/8 scribe another line along your base edge. YOU ARE SQUARE to base your layout on. SketcyUp model available to your email, should you want it.
I have a question, and you may not be able to answer this. There are some campgrounds that have “standards”. If our camper is older than their guideline, you cannot make a reservation, this way they keep the place looking nice. I see where they are coming from, just don’t agree. My opinion, like other may differ. I wonder how they would view a trailer conversion like this, since it doens’t have that camper look. I think this is great.. I am looking at a compaer for a part time retirement job I am looking at, and this would be perfect.
Good stuff! Enjoyed your camper conversion, thinking about this myself. Does Reolink offer that remote camera with a cammo finish? Sticks out like a sore thumb against the tree. 😃
love the build. However, this is only a budget build if you have access to a woodworking shop with all those tools y'all had. The average person doesn't have all that lol
I see another thing wrong with your trailer and he'd put at least one wheel mark on the trailer. Because the simple fact of it is those trailer wheels were so nice that somebody might steal them
Great to see young minds being industrious. And I like the warm-white sex lights lol nice touch... but as a DIY guy myself I would definitely put RECESSED CROWN MOULDING that have a gap, so the lights are hidden away cleanly but the space will still have that glow... colored LED Lights or lights like these makes the space vibey but its a bit tacky when the lights are not tucked away.. You guys did an amazing job though , its making me want to rebuild my Motocross Van lol
I see a problem with your camera. It's at a point that somebody can come in behind it. Take it down. You know it? Don't make any difference what you do. If it's not up high enough, people can't reach it without a ladder. Then you're not doing any good
You guys crack me up. Your interaction with each other is such a joy to watch. Not too mention all the things you two do.
Nice job kids! A low cost mod you may want to consider is an RV roof vent.
With the way the sidewall flexes on that style trailer, you may want to place a minor taper at the end of the 2x4 (think french cleat) to draw in the sidewalls when under load...

Please install a carbon monoxide sensor. The vents don't seem sufficient for your trailer. Thanks for sharing your video. Love this!
Pretty sweet! Chamfering the bed post openings would probably help a ton.
When you say that you have a plan and your partner’s immediate response is, “I don’t have doubts”, that’s a good relationship. 😊
Nice build! Good on you for going after it. You'll love having it.

Have you looked how much the actual trailer is? Way more than $5,000
You two are awesome! Enjoy your new project camper. Knowing Dylan each time you use it he will come back with an upgrade!😊
Thanks so much!
Can't wait for the Ambition Strikes video, gonna be epic seeing yall working with em!! Camper looks awesome!
Can’t wait either! Thank you

Something you can try, is installing a pulley system to make it easier to raise and lower the bed.
LOVE! The idea for the adjustable bed height. I'm 100% using this technique. Way better than the multiple e-track setup I was initially envisioning for my build.
Only downside it’s hard to do by your self… great idea though.❤

You guys need some magnetic bug screen behind the ramp door so you can open it up but keep out the bugs.
Great project simple and affordable. Good y’all were able to have some time together and enjoy it.

This is cool! It's cool because it's simple and efficient. A large interior space for many uses. Good for stealth camping too.
Just make sure you know what size they are. Then go to Harbor freight and buy that 1. Socket, get you a battery power impact that you can put in the trailer. Maybe add some springs at the 4 corners to help offset the weight of the bed.
How about a pulley system, to raise your bed
Good idea man! Pulley and weights to make it effortless.
Add an angle to the upper portion of his 2x4 groove so that when the pulley raises the platform it'll guide itself out of the groove it was set into.
Very nice design, cant wait to see you do more on this project.
Bonjour, excellente idée et conception pour le lit à différentes hauteurs 👍👍👍👍

Like how you show us your thought process. I am here from Ambition strikes. You are awesome to watch. Keep it up!
Love the trailer, simple yet gorgeous. Don't forget the wheels look great too! Relax and have fun. You guys deserve it.
Thanks so much!
I absolutely love watching kids learn. 😊
The slats will also allow for ventilation, keeping the mattress from getting funky on you.
Awesome, on my second build love your enthusiasm
I've just discovered your channel & subscribed with all notifications. Well done, kids.

Can’t wait to take baby camping with us!
Oh wow, what a workshop you are using. It's Amazing. PS. I love your idea for the slats/boards being removable.
The trailer is coming along nicely, guys. You will be really happy to camp in it for sure
I think so too! Especially once we fix the door leak we found while camping 🥴
*Awesome... enjoy your holiday break away 🙂 oh and don't forget to allow room for a portacot for bubs and space for all of bub's stuff, nappies, many changes of clothes etc etc once bubs arrives 🙂nz*
I bet you could rig some pulleys on the sides of the bed to help with the raising and lowering
Absolutely great job. Have a safe trip and have fun 👏👏👏👏😎
🤗🤗
I keep telling my husband I wanna do this! Great job❤❤❤
You guys are adorable, awesome video. I just subscribed and I got the same tape measure love that thing all of the different kind of tape measures they have are DOPE

Appreciate it!
You should get an air mattress. It would be easier to raise and lower the bed.
Awesome build. Congratulations.
Very nice!! Molly time to stop lifting on that heavy stuff for awhile.

Love this camper/trailer!
Thank you!☺️☺️
I would have put the slates vertical. it would be a lot stronger.
Looks great guys. Did you consider mounting the power strip/switch on the door side of the front for convenience when entering?
Yes, but the plug to the lights then couldn’t reach it🙃
The new wheels look nice
Y’all are too awesome! Great build!
Looks so good with the new wheels. Whats on the plan for the white sides? Hope you enjoyed the trip, I am sure this was posted after you retruned.
Not doing anything else to the outside! But never say never lol
@@Woodbrew ahhh, going incognito huh? Lol
Love your camper great job 😊👏
Great job you two
The growing belly... very cute!
Enjoy a little break. You both deserve it.

I think this is mostly the longerterm and fancy campgrounds that have these rules. We’ve camped In probably 25 states and never ran in this issue.
Drill holes like door handle holes to lighten the ply wood and to air the mattress
How much did you get the trailer for? Looks great
Did you guys seal behind the insulation ?
Good stuff! Enjoyed your camper conversion, thinking about this myself. Does Reolink offer that remote camera with a cammo finish? Sticks out like a sore thumb against the tree. 😃
Yea I think they do
its nice build now its not way i would have done but it great
You need a bug screen. For the back door
As a carpenter I will tell you 3-4-5 is your friend for square
laser level for "plumb" on your vertical uprights would have worked maybe?
Put a pully system on your bed, that way one person can easily adjust it.
Is that security camera ndaa compliant?
That makes me feel better about the £2K I just spent on a new tent! :). Nice camper. :)
Hey guys, I’m gonna need this music. Please tell me what that first song was or is all of them.
New boot goofin
Looks nice and comfy and homie
Y’all should put the small mattress and just buy a memory phone mattress topper so it won’t be so heavy
This is genius!
You have a large shop……WOW
Looks like Jethro Bodine's bachelor pad from the Beverly Hillbilly's 😊
Really enjoying this build series, but every video is becoming more like an Andy Griffith episode......I reckon!! 😊
“The geometry ain’t geometry-ing”🤣🤣🤣
Is it square, use a level!
love the build. However, this is only a budget build if you have access to a woodworking shop with all those tools y'all had. The average person doesn't have all that lol
Very Very awesome
Nice.
I see another thing wrong with your trailer and he'd put at least one wheel mark on the trailer. Because the simple fact of it is those trailer wheels were so nice that somebody might steal them
E track would have been much easier and less time consuming. People never consider their time along with material when building a "budget" project!
Problem with the "thumbs up" button missing entirely. I would have used it if it was there.
I love your videos! Y'all are so cute
