I'm still using the machine I could afford at the time. Whites DFX. I know, I know...all the pros tell me to upgrade and I will when I can afford to. To me, though, this machine is priceless. It gave me and my daughter the love of detecting. She's 7 now and i've had this thing 10 years longer than I've had her. And it still finds things. Thanks for your great entertaining videos.

I have both Minelab Excaliber and the Fisher Cz-20. I've
been land hunting and diving on and off for more than forty years. I’ve had White’s
machines and I’ve used Garret machines and they are all very good manufacturers!
If I had the money, for a great land machine, I would buy a White’s V3I, this machine has polar
mapping-discrimination, that’s incredible! Unless my Minelab is broken, I will take the Excaliber over the Cz-20 every
day! And by the way the Cz-21 is almost identical to the Cz-20! The proof is in the gold, I've found 3 times as much gold
with the Excaliber, also more diamonds, but that could just be luck! The
Excaliber it is easier to set-up, lighter, battery pack is so much better (
longer lasting and versatile) I have make custom battery packs which last 3.5
times longer than stock! I’ve also made my own custom hip mount and coil
changer, so I can use the largest Coiltech coils available. Once you get used
to the very wide range of tones and also using the discriminator dial, I can
identify the metal or coin about 75 % of the time before digging. The one draw
back of the Excaliber it doesn’t pin point as well as the Cz-20, but considering
all the time spent digging junk when using the Cz-20, versus pinpointing
issues, As a water or all whether machine, it’s a no brainer, Excaliber is the
way to go! P.S. Both machines are rated to 200 ft diving depth ~ 6 atmospheres.
I’ve not gone below 60 ft with my Excaliber! Also No Leaks!

my final decision, since they are almost the same, is to buy the Garrett. American made is really great to me. Any small feature differences, including wireless or a couple of ounces in weight is less important. The wireless unit doesn't appear to be as rugged and long lasting looking as the well built Garrett electronics. I bet the Garrett will still be working 20 years from now! All the old ones still do!

You probably know this, but just in case... the Deus coil is waterproof, but doesn't work underwater because the radiowaves can't travel through water. You have to buy a special 'wire' to un-wireless it.

    well done mate !
also i like the stacked wood as an backgroud , cool man!
i'm a deus man , love it alot but i had to hunt and learn 6 months to get the best out of it , by not using discrimination and on full tones you can here every different sound and after a while you recognize the good from the bad easly , w/o digging iron.
i the beginning i dug some fair amout of iron too , as iron has like 4 different sounds on the machine , i call the sounds sputters , farts ( sorry but thats the bestcomparrison),high + 96 buzzing high sounds and extreem high sounds with vdi zero =surface iron.
i like to hear iron as it tells me where a settlement or old farm has been .
i love square nails ,last place i found like that revealed 6 silver medieval coins.
sometimes coins came under 2 big nails , at reactivity at 3 and silencer -1 the deus is king on nail infested ground !
when on newer ground with alot of aluminium junk it gets harder to hear or make up the difference between coins and aluminum round and ball shaped objects.
then a minelab ctx does a better job i think.

Yeah , an AT Pro/Gold comparison is a must . I was looking to get one for water hunting . But don't know enough to make my decision . I had a Minicab CTX 3030 , but thought it was over rated , and too much $$$$ overkill for what little I was getting . I like Fisher detectors too , but I will not be diving (Just wading to 5 feet) , so the AT series looks like a better option for the $$$

+AmericanCoinHunting Another vote for a Pro vs. Gold video. I have many hours on the Pro, and love it - would be interested to know what benefit the Gold would offer for hunting colonial land sites where there are a lot of heavier-end metals - lead, pewter, etc... especially in the form of buttons. What finds would I expect to see more of (or less) with the AT Gold?

    • @Crazy-bout-a-mercury
      @Crazy-bout-a-mercury 8 років тому +3

+AmericanCoinHunting The garrett site says the gold is NOT made for the oceans, saltwater but the pro IS! I have been lurking on here for about a year just watching and learning. Next week, I order my pro!!!! I live at the beach/saltwater and also live around several battle areas. Can't wait!

    • @bb_in_maine6039
      @bb_in_maine6039 8 років тому +2

+Diana Zambory Yes, technically the AT can be used on saltwater beaches, but it doesn't always perform well... it really depends where you live. Where I am in Maine, you have to manually push the ground balance way down, use the little 5x7 coil, and drop the sensitivity by several bars to avoid chatter. I own a couple Minelab machines as well which run very smooth and quiet on wet sand - that is not the case with the AT. That being said, there are certain iron infested areas of beach where I use that AT setup and do quite well... so it'd very site specific. But to summarize, there is no substitute for a true saltwater machine.

    • @livewithnick
      @livewithnick 7 років тому

BB_in_ Maine my AT Pro works great when I was in Myrtle Beach a couple weeks ago and works great at my home beach in Gulf Shores,Al. Not as good as my dfx which is multi frequency but it does really well for a single frequency unit.

Hello aquachigger . I made a unusual and drastic choice : I never use any vlf anymore ! They all are neither not powerful enough nor sensible enough on small coins targets ... My only choice for inland : Whites TDI SL : Very powerful even on very small stuff and most of all it knocks out iron very well by creating a detection whole on iron thanks to a manual setting . So I can cover a gold coin with nails and still have a clear and crisp response of my coin . No vlf can do that.... Garrett seahunter mark2 when I dive deep: Very powerful monotone pulse induction :rugged all terrain pulse induction power . No need to ground balance this machine . Just turn on and punch deep !
Garrett atx on the beach : Most powerful pulse induction all terrain machine , and fine coarsed settings possible .
I hate the gpx 5000 ! : Not water proofed ! No global search mode !!! You always loose targets and get cheated with complicated settings !! 5000 box for an all hanging around machine !!! Never ! What a mess !! The battery on your belt ! then all the cables hanging around ... I do not know where I could find a single quality to that way of looking at metal detection . Have a nice day .

After using an etrac, I couldn't and wouldn't go back to the at pro. Of course I don't do any water hunting. The etrac is a little heavy, but it's way more accurate....which can be a bad thing in metal detecting because you don't dig as many less attractive signals, but it does save you time. I so want an updated etrac with better separation and the ctx isn't the answer.

Detectors, You forgot to put your Bounty Hunter 840 in the video... I had an A.H Electronic VLF/TR detector 1979. I wish I still had it. I'd hang it on the wall for the memories. I fly with another "Color" machine than the Garretts. Have since I sold the A.H. I hope you can pass on the technology of detectors has came a long ways past "OUR" past. To go along with your favorite brand, I think some of the lower and mid-priced Garretts do some amazing things. I have also found "Certain" older machines, some 20 years old to be "Special" in certain areas of detecting. Garretts has came a long ways in machines.

so here is the best question. tell us how to not end up buying all those detectors. lol.
it was in all the battles between archers english and irish maybe but thats where giving the finger came from. when one of the sides would capture an archer they would cut off his middle finger before releasing him and he couldnt fire a bow anymore. showing the finger meant you were still dangerous.

    Hey Beau,
You should make a custom automatic signature for the bottom of all of your video descriptions that will link to other videos or answer really common questions. Just so you don't have to write it every time.
    Just like:
    "Common Questions
What Metal detector do you use?
-Watch this video I talk about them!: Link
    Etc...."
It will save you a lot of time on future videos, and if you still want to reply to a lot of common questions you can just write, "refer to the description" for a bunch of them.

It's the first machine I owned, but the manual is VERY vague on usage and not a lot online either. I have heard this is a great 'beginer' machine but I dunno, seems like I only find junk, even when I did a test of dropping a few coins, ect on the ground (missed em completely, but found enough rusty nails to build a small house). Am I maybe doing something wrong or is it the machine?

I have an old Fisher 1236 x2 and am wondering if I chuck it for a newer one, or maybe keep it as a spare. I have been told these were good machines but are the newer ones really any better? As you can see I am a novice at this and haven't done much detecting but I do intend to.

Which detector between the Gold Bug2 and the AT Gold would you recommend for detecting small gold in North Georgia rivers and river bed crevices? I would also like to have the ability to coin shoot and relic hunt on land and beaches with one unit? Your opinion will be appreciated. Thanks.

Looked at the prices, I might want to start with a cheaper Garret since I'll be on land. I want to make sure I'm going to use this machine a lot before dropping $500+ for something that might live in a closet mostly.

So, Bo, when are you going to come to Massachusetts? I have already invited STEALTH DIGGERS, there is a sight here that you would absolutely love, it is right up your alley, A river that had a flood, for which a book was written and a thesis was written which I have personally held in my hand which is 5 inches thick. They should actually make a movie about this , it was that dramatic and that historical. The Book is called " In the shadow of the dam" and it tells the story of how the seemingly small mill river wiped out 5 towns in a matter of 1.5 hours. It killed 116 people and I have researched this for the past 8 years. Believe me when i tell you that this WILL be your ultimate challenge in life, because I know it is mine. At least read the book and let me know.Love the videos! Good Hunting!

Hey Beau, great vid. Behind you where your 'Detectors' are against the wood-pile, is that a hidie-hole for critters? Anything living in there? Peace out.

***** Yep, I always leave log piles in my back garden for things to live in, and somewhere to hide from my cats! I even had a wasps nest one year in an old shed and just left them to it. They eat all the bugs that attack plants. As they built their nest they would scrape wood off of the shed door to munch into the pulp for it. I also let the spiders in my house stay there.......I don't mind them. I had a big house spider for years living in another shed between some boxes. When the flying ants came out in the summer I would catch some and put them by the spiders webby-tubey thing. It would dart out and take them back inside. It got to the stage where I could hold an ant by the webby thing and it would take it from my fingers!!! You can't beat nature.

We does not hawe dangerous ones where i live either, The winter is to cold, but in warmer regions they can deffinitly live in Europe as well...

Hey Beau, have you ever used a White's Spectra V3i? What's your opinion on it?
Not trying to start a brand war (White's vs Minelab vs XP vs....), just curious on your experience with it.
Please make some more videos like this.

Awesome. Maybe you could recommend one that is the cheapest and most versatile? I think it would fit the needs for most of us "common men" -or "women". I, for one, don't have $5,000 to drop on a detector. Thanks!
