If you are prospecting in rivers and creeks, then this is some really good info for you guys that will take your skills on finding Gold up to the next level. If we missed anything or you have better ways of prospecting these water ways, we would love to hear it so throw your experiences down in the comments section ....that way we can all be better at finding that Shiney and if you want to see more videos on upping your prospecting skills then watch this ua-cam.com/video/q1jdlkF7EYg/v-deo.html and we will see you on the next video.
Upper benches above creeks and streams.have produced a lot of gold for me in the past. Walking along one day in the mountains I looked up the mountain side and saw round smooth cobblestones. I started digging into them and found black sands and red garnets amongst the cobblestones. I sampled in several places and low and behold it had a lot of gold 3/4 of the way up the side of that mountain. I was not a seasoned prospector back then but it didn't take me like mg to catch on and learn a valuable lesson.
Jeff! Can you do another video on sampling road cuts. I've seen some nice stuff along interstate 40 in AZ. And is it legal to dig on the side of the highway?😂
I'll be looking for this type of activity in the Klamath trend area of California and South Oregon. It's snowing here in Spokane, Washington, so I'll have to wait till summer.
Very loud simple and to the point. If all my teachers throughout my school years were all like this I would have remembered mostly everything instead of forgetting everything.
@6:31 - Tilt your head and mica goes from shiny to gunmetal grey. That's how you know it isn't gold. When you have gold, the shine follows your gaze. It shiny from all angles.
Haven't done any gold prospecting yet. I have a metal detector and gold pans, just don't have anyone to go with. I am a disabled Veteran and nearly 70 years old now, and I ain't giving up yet. Cuz my name is Mica.
Jeff just taught a first year University Geologist course in under 15 minutes. People ... save your money and listen to Jeff's channel . No student loans either.
I have a spot on Callahan Creek outside of Troy, Montana. It is a terrible hike to get down there but it is a nice inside corner. When I was a kid I watched my father snorkel in about two feet of water with a pair of tweezers and a film bottle. He covered the bottom of that bottle with decent sized flakes, mostly pickers in less than two hours. He was in the middle of the creek favoring the inside corner but at the very end of the corner. The downstream end.
"Yeah, you're gonna get wet !!" I love watching these compilation series ! Really a lot of good info for us prospectors. Thanks for putting this together Jeff & Lila !!
Mr Williams you remind me of George Massy "the buzzard" i would watch him in the 80's when I was a kid with my dad. Thanks for the great video and the memories
This was like a Reader's Digest of some of your previous videos on finding gold. I have seen where using a small portable battery-operated vacuum works well to suction out those crevices in bedrock too since crevasse tools can't get to it all. A water suction device sounds like a good option too. This was nice to have a lot of your gold finding tips in one video so I will save this video for quick reference. Great video too.
Jeff , you are such a gift to anyone who loves the outdoors. I know my mood changes the first instant watching a video of yours. Thank you for your gift to us. So many Awesome videos you have given to us. I hope to be able to get away from work and apply your principles. Now on to another of your videos. .
No matter will you go to look for gold or nor, but to watch and listen to Jeff is a definite biggest pleasure! Is is like I visited the best play in a good theatre !!! Thanks, thanks, thanks !
There's no gold in my area but it's interesting that some of the same ideas apply to other types of rocks. I'm always looking for chert and the head of an inside bend is where the good big stuff drops out, which causes a layer of silty clay to buildup at that level. Everything from trash to artifacts ends up getting stuck and all you gotta do is let nature pass enough gravel over it. Might have to try panning some of it just for giggles.
Straight to it! No BS, self-serving intro, just down to business. Perfect! BTW, this method sounds kinda like the one on The Legend of Buster Scruggs. I'm glad this turned out better. 👽✌️
If your a beginning prospector buy yourself some natural gold from a seller. Get yourself from fines, flake and little pickers Put a piece in your pan and pan it into a catch basin. See if you can move the unwanted material out of the pan without loosing you gold into the catch. Then do it some more with other sizes. See how the gold acts in the pan, how it moves as you stratify the material ( shaking the pan with water and material in it will allow gravity to stratify the materials into layers and allow heavier material to settle to the bottom ) - Gold glows in the shade - it sits tight in the pan while rocks 10 times it’s size move about with the slightest rocking - once you see real gold and how it glows, how it sits you will never second guess Mica or Pyrite
Jeff is the man! Such a good presenter and clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about this field. I’ll be binge watching every video and trying to learn as much as I can. Thank you Jeff!
Love the way you talk man! Great instructor and the information was confidently explained. Wish more men like you were in education. Would've helped me out so much.
I’ve learned so much watching Jeff and I’ll watch his videos until the day I die even if I get to where I can’t prospect I’ll still be watching his videos thank for all the knowledge you’re videos are very helpful
Ask Lila, how she manages to not break out in giggles when you make so many funnies?? I admire her silent running behing the camera. Not sure i could keep quiet. Lol. I am enjoying your new teaching series you two are doing, especially the how to make inexpensive prospecting tools from cheap products. It is epic and i am gonna try a few. Got the poop tube, got carpet, and got the pvc pipe. And i KNOW im gonna get wet and cold up here in Maine. Keep the fun coming. We love you.
Very cool, yet again. I have to mention here that this is almost exactly how you save time when hunting many hill and forrest mushrooms that happen to grow from the ground. We follow the dried up water flow lines over the earth until the water stops and organic debris piles up. The only real difference with mushrooms is that it's best to start at the top of the hill, look down carefully, and slowly work your way down. In this scenario, the organic debris in which we usually find boomers in the woods is far from mineralized and takes place in forested areas. There many mushrooms are found growing from debris piled up at and around the bases of trees. But that's where the fungi come in, converting organic sludge into minerals in the form of nutrified soil. I think there's a connection. Also, mushrooms tend to accumulate growing traces of minerals in their tissues and might be possible indicators. I would love to read your response. Cheers
This is just fantastic!!! Ive been with the rich& the poor, and not many people impress me.. but jeff . You are my new hero brother!!!! Im going to take all of your advice, and blaze a new trail in 2024!! Thanks for the inspiration!!!
Im 44 seconds in and I've learnt more about what to look for than 20 videos previos. Awesome... thank you. All logical stuffs me brain hadn't tied together.
The boil hole looks like a heart ❤️!! 12:50 Love the science you put into this one Jeff It’s teaching hydrothermal deposition at its finest and in a lot of different scenarios I’ve experienced these and many more and it’s what makes the detective game so fun I like the area your in Looks like a Cali creek with that basalt cap and mafic rocks I’d love to get a in the field experience while you share the local geology Especially here in NorCal
at first glance it seemed familiar, but there was some great learnings here for those who are eager. thankyou for reminding me that the era the upper benches were formed was when gold was deposided in my region, and all the later eras just put it in the river. thankyou for good lessons
Watching you look for gold has given me gold fever. Yeah. I bought a metal detector from a pawn shop. Went out to the backyard with a pie pan and garden hose to find gold. LOL... GONNA GET WET! My house was built on a dried up ancient creek bed. Rocks everywhere. So I am going to 😢 dig it up.😂❤🎉
Great explanations Jeff it took me 6-9 mths to be able to read my brook and tributaries. But I finally found source and best type gravels. And the teating was well worth it. I have found most of my gold on shallow bedrock with ancient hard packed gravels
Have all the people I watched on anything I really enjoyed his most I don't think I could live with you as a husband or anything because you're so energetic but your wife's an incredible woman to be with you and you're very informative I really appreciate you God bless Merry Christmas😂🎉😊
I love the gona get wet part, this is what gets my young grandsons so interested and hopefully hooked when summers in full swing and its too hot for metal detecting long. Nothing like finding gold together with family in a cool shade and creek. This and other videos by Jeff are amazing

@@Askjeffwilliams thank you sir!! I rearranged my day today, gonna head to the river instead and try out what I been learnin. The only issue I have with where I’m at is there’s no bedrock. And thanks again Jeff there’s not many people u can ask questions and get a whole vid in response. By far the best mining/prospecting channel out there.
@Askjeffwilliams Jeff, I really appreciated this video. You clearly explained how to identify river bed target zones, where and how deep to dig, what to look for and what to avoid... Loved this one! Headed back to my Creek now! It's Video AU! ❤

thanks
Walter Houston, took lessons from this guy.
I am also a teacher. I am one of the only legit gold prospectors on UA-cam. You should all respect me.
Very loud simple and to the point. If all my teachers throughout my school years were all like this I would have remembered mostly everything instead of forgetting everything.
I recently purchased a gold mine it has two springs and a pond, I am super excited to start prospecting this spring
@6:31 - Tilt your head and mica goes from shiny to gunmetal grey. That's how you know it isn't gold. When you have gold, the shine follows your gaze. It shiny from all angles.
Now that's some good information 🤜🤛 .
What about pyrite?
This guys got some of the best energy around! Keep it up and thanks for all the advice Jeff :)
I would pay good money to have him yell at me.
Haven't done any gold prospecting yet. I have a metal detector and gold pans, just don't have anyone to go with. I am a disabled Veteran and nearly 70 years old now, and I ain't giving up yet. Cuz my name is Mica.
you can do it my brother
I live in Oregon and there's bunches of gold in the riveouths out here. The springs are abundant in gold too.
Thank you for your service, Sir. I sincerely hope that someone will go with you so that you can enjoy prospecting.
I'm heading to Alabama for metal
Heading to Alabama May 4th to 7th let me know if you can

At that creek, I would first be looking for brook trout.
I love how he starts the video off right away yelling at us, screaming look over there “big stones big gold little stones little gold!” Legend
