The song is about a war veteran trying to cure his PTSD with drugs and goes to far. The slowing bass beats in the end is a metafor for a heart giving up as a cause of an overdose
Great that you've reacted to this! Tasty drum beats from Bil Ward(as usual). He can play jazzy laid back beats as well as powerful beats in the same song seamlessly. And Ozzy's singing is underrated. He's got a unique tone and feeling. A perfect match to the instrumentation. Bassist Geezer Butler is an iconic bassist and he's a helluva lyricist as he's written the main part of the lyrics for all of sabbath's songs. Some song suggestions, "A National Acrobat" and "Supernaut". But it's impossible to choose a bad one of their early albums. Enjoy the ride!
Bill got that jazz swing in his stride, rim shots remind of old tune i heard before Bill Withers - Use Me. all about the Funk, like Grand Funk and Funkadelic.
Basically this song is about heroin addiction and it's inevitable end. You rarely come back from heroin addiction. You would probably like "Sabbra Cadabra" from their Sabbath Bloody Sabbath album.
That drum beat mixed with that bass like that is THE funkiest thing I've ever heard.🤘

This really is a masterpiece. And still relavent decades later.

Bill Ward, the granddaddy of the hip hop beat.

Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath and deep purple are the three grandfather's of heavy Rock and metal music

We are talking about death here. Hand of Doom
So glad you reacted to this one!! Hope you continue down the Sabbath rabbit hole. Symptom of the Universe needs to be one of your next ones 😁
This is an awareness song about US Service men becoming hooked on cheap heroin during the Vietnam War. The delusion of a good time as death sets in.

Nice react +1 SUB

I'm really happy you are enjoying Sabbath so much. Try Fairies Wear Boots from this same album ua-cam.com/video/ZXqMkqeFQwA/v-deo.html
