  • New range belt setup. Got tired of paddle holsters and mag pouches weighing down my pants. Picked up a SafeLife Defense Tactical Belt to use as the base for my range belt. Added a Safariland 6280 mid-ride holster, Esstac Kywi pouch, and some other goodies. Currently this is setup for my HK45 with a Streamlight TLR-1 HL, but I plan to make this modular with the addition of the Safariland Quick Locking System.
Here's what is on the belt. You can purchase these items and help us out by using our affiliate links here:

I just watched safelifes video on this belt and heads up. The belt should be flipped around. The velcrow on the other side goes all the way to the buckle and will hold the gun more securely.

Great setup!!! the Esstac pouches are normal ones? or those are a different version for 45?

Thanks! This is just their Pistol Kywi Poich, which fits double stack 9 and 45 mags. I did get the one with a Gap which allows for mags with bigger floor plates.

Did anyone have trouble fitting the Safariland medium holster on this belt? looks like I am going to have to dremel the loop holes.

What model holster are you using? The 6280 was definitely tight, but I was able to muscle it on with no need to dremel.

Soak the stretch of the outer belt with water to the point that needs to accommodate the holster.

How good are the Cobra buckles? Do they open on their own with getting in and out of a car multiple times like other buckels?

I’ve had no problems with this buckle but I’m also not getting in and out of a vehicle. I’ve used it multiple times during competitions where I have it on for around 6 hours and I’m getting up and down from a bench. But not twisting to get out of a vehicle, so can’t speak to that.

Interested in hearing what you don’t like about it.

@@UnprofessionalOutdoors I guess, not impressed is the wrong word. I kind of like the belt. It's a quality belt for sure and it looks awesome! Trying to adjust it to my size is a real pain in the ass! The inside belt seems too wide. If you don't get the outer belt just right the inside belt is visible which looks very tacky. I know you can buy a narrower inner belt but that's more money. I am used to my Safariland belt. Once I get it on I can use my thumb between the belts to adjust the outer belt up and down to look more evenly. Not with the safe life belt. Once it's on it's on. There's no sliding it. Also my Safariland can be adjusted tighter or looser by adjusting the hooks in the other notches. The safe life belt cannot be adjusted speedily and once it settles into that notch where you wear it, it is going to be a real pain in the ass to change it because it is so rigid, if you gain or lose weight.

@@TheEndtime60 yeah adjusting it is pretty tough. It’s nice that the belt is sturdy but pulling it through the Cobra buckle is a pain. I do like how secure it is once in place, but agree with you on adjusting. What Safariland belt do you have? I’ve been thinking of getting a different belt for USPSA and was looking at the Safariland ELS competition belt.
