Thanks for the no nonsense review. Accurate, thorough, no music in the background, and to the point. I had an email from roku advertising their new products and decided on a review. Blink bricked me so I'm happy to say my 2 pack will be here between 7 & 8...Thnaks. I will subscribe.
The night vision was exceptionally good . The micro SD option Is another solid extra. The audio recording isn’t a big deal since it’s purpose is to be a security measure.
Thanks for the review! I'm switching from Amazon Blink cameras to Roku cameras. Amazon bricked my 3 nice cloud cams and replaced them with cheesy Blink cameras and now they want to charge me for a subscription! I will use the SD card option on my new Roku cams to record video if I need it. Also, I can view the cams on my Roku TV device which has replaced my Fire TV device. Win-win and Amazon has one less customer.
I almost never listen to product reviews but I listened to yours and it was the most honest thorough informative and very fair and balanced review from top to bottom... I love the split screen showing you on one side and a close up of your phone on the other side as you we're setting up the app showing you exactly what you'll be looking at and what options you are selecting making it a very easy setup for a potential customer I'm going to go buy one tomorrow I work at Walmart and I've been thinking about getting one anyway but that review is the reason I'm reaching into my pocket and pulling out my money lol good job dude
I listen to them but I am careful if I ever read them. Especially those nonsensical reviews that are so optimistic you wonder if the person who wrote it was a teenage girl or high on something!!
Thanks. Informative. Will you be doing any other Roku camera product reviews? I’m interested in the outdoor wired floodlight. Since your review of this camera’s voice wasn’t so good, I was wondering about their other cameras. Thanks 😊
I just bought one brother. Your video was very informative thanks...
Jeremy Hill gives you a great understanding of how to set up the Roku camera!
Thanks Jeremy...excelent explanation...good bless you
Very nice this old lady figured it out herself ❤️❤️
Awesome!
This video was very informative.the subscription and not subscription benefit. Was major.
I really was contemplating buying this because of the price makes it seem like it's crappie. But thanks for the review. Good job. I will be buying it because it does what i need it to do.
Thank you, this review helped.
Amazing video 🙌 very informative
Thank you for the review.
You did a great job. Thank you
Haven’t seen the entire video yet but i was impressed with the comments so i instantly Liked and Subscribed solely on the comments and your MANY responses.
Thanks a lot! I try to be helpful because I know there's some confusion around this camera and its subscription service.
@@JeremyHill yeah, several only allow a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection. Xfinity, AT&T and whomever else are 5G. It gets confusing if you have to buy dual routers. But I see the Roku is compatible with 5G Wi-Fis
Great video. 👍🏿
Very good review... Thanks
thanks for the information. Can you tell me if you know why the photos and videos do not want to be deleted when I click to delete, it continues downloading and does not delete them
Loved to own the Roku camera ☺️
I like it connects to my Roku tv.
Trying to set mine up now. Having a problem with the internet i presume. Can you have higher internet than was is requested? Im confused on that part and keep getting connection failed.
Thank you!
Satisfied customer!
During my trial
My events was recording videos & since signing up it takes just a still , I can’t figure out how to adjust that or why that happened ?
I got the 2-pack today!
If the audio was the only bad thing I can live with that and I like being able to use an SD card too. You would be surprised how many cameras are cloud only and that sucks really. At least some of those ones give you a very limited but free cloud storage. Also more and more things are magically turning into subscriptions that never were or never had to be. That really sucks too because some of those things never had any mention of it on their packaging when they were originally purchased and that understandably infuriates and disappoints a lot of people.
Any way to get a tutorial about the settings ? I’m struggling finding ways to remove the green boxes ect …
I like this
Cool
Good review, most of my questions are answered in your presentation. I do have one question.. Is there an app for Apple or just Android only?
There is an Apple app as well called Roku Smart Home.
Thank you I saw this camera and I was undecided but I'm going back today to pick one up.
Any fix or workaround for no audio output when tapping the speak button ?
How much gb I need for the se card to make it usable
I was just about to purchase this baby today at Walmart but opted to watch a review before buying. one thing I would like to know is if with the micro sd card can I record video and can I rewatch it after.?
You can set up the SD card to record constantly and/or you can manually record from the app. The manual recordings can be watched from the app, and the other recordings can be played back on a computer from the SD card.
Now do you need the subscription too use/keep footage on the SD card? Anyone knowledgeable on that subject here??
How do I record; it shuts off when I close the screen
Mines stopped working and will not connect to wifi. Keeps saying “cannot connect to local network”
Can you use Roku camera with out a Roku tv?
Do you happen to know if they have professional monitoring like Ring where it can call the police when needed?
No, it doesn't have that feature.
My camera will not scan the QR code no matter what I do is there another way to go about doing this because when I contact them they can't seem to help me except give me the same exact answer every time which is not working
Try to set it up but will not connect to the Internet so you can scan the code
What do you do if your Camara continues to show system update
Good video. Just bought a two pack at WalMart. What size SD card do you recommend?
A 64GB card will give you all the space you need and more.
@@JeremyHill Thank you very much!
You need to explain there is no playback option in the app. To access the videos on the SD card. You have to pull the SD from the camera and view them on a computer. Wyze does have the playback option and you can playback videos recorded on the SD card with in the app. Roku forces you to buy the cloud service to view the videos within the app.
Great to know Thank you
Is possible to share camera with family?
Had no problem setting up camera. Can't get the app to load and no site description is that process. Looking like I might as well have burned 30 dollars
This is basically like the wyze indoor/outdoor camera. Can it be used outside technically
Roku says this model is not weather resistant. They do have wired and wireless outdoor models though.
Is there anything I can do?
Everytime I try to push the setup button nothing happens no voice nothing. Help😢
I have the outdoor camera it’s not connecting to my Wi-Fi. I have spectrum. It’s stuck saying ready to connect
WHEN IT SAYS "READY TO CONNECT" YOU FACE THE CAMERA TO THE BAR CODE ON YOUR PHONE WHEN YOU ARE SETTING IT UP
Can you have the app connected on multiple phones. Like have other people watching your house
Yes, but they need access to your Roku account to do that.
They are wyze cams... Not even knockoffs but the actual camera
How's night vision??
It skipped a part I’m lookin for the QR code. It’s not scanning
Do u know if the roku door bell camera plans have a different cost and also how do those work as far as the cord?
The doorbell uses the same subscription as the security cameras. The doorbell camera doesn't use cords. One version is powered by your existing doorbell's wiring, and another version has a rechargeable battery.
@Jeremy Hill your awesome thanks. So there is a free version of the doorbell correct ? Probably doesn't have a memory card slot tho I'm guessing. I think you said without a plan u can just get a live feed. I'm sorry. I have never had a security cam have no idea how they work. I'd love to get one and later convince hubby for a plan.
Yes, you can use it without a paid subscription. You get a live feed and some alerts, but you won't get cloud video recording. There's no SD card slot on the doorbells.
@Jeremy Hill thanks for the response I'm going to buy one for sure, and get the plan later down the road.
@@escapedgoat5865 You're welcome! I hope it works out for you.
Can I use this camera in Mexico ?
Do i have to have my credit card to download roku for the indoor camera?
No, you don't need a credit card.
I cant get the speak to work. Enabled all permissions i can hear audio just cant speak through it.
Any fix yet?
Have you reviewed the roku outdoor camera SE?
No, I haven't tried that one.
Maybe I'm just dumb but it will not let me set up a monthly plan to record at all
for the life of me, why wouldnt they make a black version
I'd love to buy one today. Can someone tell me if the way the non-subscription and subscription plans work similarly or exactly like Eufy's plans and cameras?
The plans are different. Eufy's subscription lets you store your video files in the cloud. But their cameras also record detection videos to the camera without a subscription.
Roku's camera subscription also stores videos in the cloud, but it will not record videos of motion detection without a subscription. You would need to put the SD card in your computer to view your footage instead.
@@JeremyHill Ok I ask because I have a Eufy camera. Although when I didn't have a subscription, I was still able to view my videos that were recorded to the SD card via the app. My understanding is that Roku does not allow this? If I understood correctly, one must be subscribed to the plan in order for the Roku camera to even record AND store a video file? Thank you for your response! I love your channel!!!!!
@@stlouisramsfan03 Thank you very much! With the Roku camera, you can manually record videos from the live view and play it back in the app. However, you can't use the app to see 24/7 videos that are continuously recorded to the SD card. You'll need to put the card in a computer to view that kind of footage.
Isn't the the wyze cam
Does anyone know why it will stop sending notifications?
I have that camera, it is super good, but after 14 days you have to pay for it to send notifications to me, but they arrive in photos and not videos.
Yea how can that be changed ? A still is quite useless ! I found after trial mine did that too
How are you? Motion detentions are included without the subscription??? Record video?
I'm doing well, thank you. Motion detection is available without a subscription. However, it will not record video of the detection. It'll snap a picture instead.
@@JeremyHill my friend I appreciate your time. Do you recommend me other brand? Like similar price and features but can record video in motion detection and not paying for a subscription? I want video in the motion.
@@sequoiacases7810 Eufy sells indoor cameras for $40-50 that records motion detection videos to the camera's built-in storage without a subscription.
@@JeremyHill my friend with this camera can I record the live stream? For example I going to receive a notification of the motion detection and then theres any option can I record? And without the subscription? And if I get the subscription it's like can I cancel any time or it's like the gyms suscriptions like it's a nightmare to cancel it.
Considering these cameras are identical to Wyze, they are crap. I swapped most of my Wyze over to these so I could view them on my ROKU TV, yet I had an emergency today and found out they do not have any playback from continuous recording like the Wyze ones. So I am going to return all my Roku cameras. I was told by an anonymous employee they killed the playback option to force subscription use for faster event recording.
That’s why it’s not recording anything just motion , but ever since the update I’m unable to record pets, people, vehicles or packages anymore.. for whatever reason…. I called customer service and she says it’s a indoor camera when it’s clearly a outdoor wired camera!! That’s insane!! and I called customer service and the lady says it’s my email that needs to be updated, which in that case makes no sense. Knowing I had the outdoor camera for 5 months now and it recorded pets and people based on your choice! I find this very unfair and I feel ripped off after spending $55.85 at Walmart… thanks a lot Roku SCUMS
I need get 5 of them in my house 🏠
Well that's see through a glass window
Can it be used with a computer
As a webcam? No it cannot.
My camera is not blinking blue only red I have Wi-Fi the 2.4 and it still is not trying to connect what can I do I have tried all four of my cameras and they’re all doing the exact same I thought it was just one set of the cameras because I bought the two pack but it’s all of them
You have to move your phone around or side to side in front of camera hope this helps. It took me forever but finally got it.
Go into your router and turn off the 5g part. Connect camera and then turn the 5g back on. It only needs the 2.4 to connect. Then it works on 5g.
So you can use this for outside to
No, this camera is indoor only. Roku sells another camera that can be used outdoors.
How do I add a second smartphone?
You can download the Roku Smart Home app on the other phone and sign in with your Roku account.
Without subscription, it says it only saves photos?.. even with sd card?? SO no viewing of video off sd card without subscription??
Enjoyed the video
It saves videos to the SD card without a subscription. I'm not subscribed and I just checked for myself. It constantly saves 1-minute MP4 files that are between 6-7mb each.
@@JeremyHill hello can you play motion videos that it records on the app thank u
@@captainhorsecrank7118 You can manually record videos in the app and play them back anytime. But if you want automatic motion detection recordings, you'll have to pay for the subscription. If you don't subscribe, it'll only take a picture instead of recording video.
@@JeremyHill thank you very much. I appreciated your video.
are you able to record with your phone off?
Yes, you can set it up to constantly record to the SD card inside the camera.
Can you get motion detector notifications??
Yes, you can.
@@shadowelf8403 Yes, there is an option to rotate the image 180 degrees.
Basically it's no better than than most cheap security cams and not as good as others. 2 out of 10 rating. Will pass and go with a better cam.
It’s a good lil camera frl. I use it for my son’s room. And the subscription is only $3.99 a month or $39.00 a yr and it’s fast to
How do I connect it to my tv
It depends on your TV. If you have Roku or a Google TV, you can install the Roku Smart Home app on the TV and connect it that way.
Mine doesn’t work. I’ve been trying to get it connected for awhile now 😢
ROKUcamera
ROKUcamera 7:48
I had bought this and ended up returning it. I found that the Merkury camera was better for the money. And needed no subscription.
Should have just bought Wyze cams.
The magnetic part are the strips on the bottom of the camera, not the metal plate.
I really only want to use my camera when I leave the house and set it to record if someone comes in. I don't want constant recording. I need a subscription for that right?
Yes, the audio quality is very poor hardy; video quality is a little bit dull.
Do this work with Iphone
Yes it does.
Anyone know how to connect to Roku tv mine not working
There's a Roku Camera channel that you can install by searching for it on your Roku TV. Make sure the account you use for your camera is the same as your TV and the two will sync up.
How to turn the speaking volume up?
I don't think there's a way to raise the microphone volume on the camera.
Volume is bad on my Roku camera
@@jerryhearn3978 so is mine just got 2 and very disappointed in that
It it necessary to pay monthly?
It depends on what you need. A subscription unlocks cloud storage, specific motion alerts, automatic video recording and no delay between alerts. Without it, you can still access the live view and receive pictures of motion alerts.
No just put a 32 or 64 gig sd card in
I cant update firmware. 😔
You did it already?
Won’t let our love survive, I’ll dry the tears from your eyes. Let’s don’t let a good thing die, cause Honey, you know I never lie to you , no , nah, Hey, hey. Yeah yeah yeah. Shuum da dum a sha boom
No it cost 50.00 but I'm trying to reset it
The outdoor camera is $50. I have the indoor version.
This is just a WYZE camera with the Roku name slapped on it. Even the subscription services are the same.
So you have to leave it plugged in or what ?
Yes, it stays plugged in.
you can get this thing out to your home shipped in the same day or just go in and get it, no 3rd party sellers! the downside it can be hacked. wifi is one of the worst systems. I can't imagine why devs don't use another system. like local monitoring with no outside input! as for subscribing, I think a decent iphone firewall and online protection should be priority A!
Thank you for sharing this. I had No idea .
Wen Im charging it works but wen I'm not charging it it doesn't work can anyone help please???
It's not a chargeable camera. It has to be plugged in to work.
@@JeremyHill ok thanks
These are WYZE CAMS
this looks exactly like wyze cam but cheaper
These are only indoors the outdoor version cost more
After 14 day free subscription ends you can't watch SD card video you only get notifications and a still picture
what if you dont know your wifi ID and password? this seems very very hard for a person is has a disability and not tech smart at all!
Yeah audio is not good at all
Does it work with 5g wifi
No they don't. They're rebranded wyze cameras
That’s why it’s not recording anything just motion , but ever since the update I’m unable to record pets, people, vehicles or packages anymore.. for whatever reason….
