This was only SOME of my tech and automations😯...but everything is linked in the description!
And if you want me to tour part of your smart home, fill out this form: forms.gle/bgUVgZUfBHh4AuGE7
I kinda want to see you make a collab with an interior designer or a contractor so we can see what Tru smart home look like.
Great video and great home. I wonder why your doorbell was integrated to homekit via Homebridge instead of via Home Assistant (which I use for my doorbell). I’m curious if it is a bit faster to show live view in the pop up window than via Home Assistant.
barely any replies
what app or integration do you use for the pixel tablet at the beginning of the video? thanks!
Awesome dream home! However, how do you manage with so many batteries that need changing, when and the cost. I only have a few items and I had to modify these to double "A" batteries to extend their time frame.
It's Incredible how far you've come from humble beginnings from an old house to a built from the ground up smarthome. It's Incredible ❤🏡
This video made me feel like I'm living in 1970
Wdym
For the NFC switchplate tags, you could set the screws vertical for switches with a tag, and tighten them to horizontal for switch plates without an NFC tag. Doesn’t help you remember what each NFC tag does, but it’s a very unobtrusive way to identify where they are.
Ohhh that's a good idea!
How about a small black on white sticker using the materials design icons that indicates the action. Similar to what you have behind the steam deck buttons?
I had the same cold water issue in my home. Game changer was having a recirculation pump installed which keeps warm water flowing through the pipes. I connected the pump to a smart plug and have automated it with Home Assistant to only run when we're home and during times we are likely to use the shower or faucets. Highly recommend for water savings 👌
Love the vids. Keep it up!!! ❤️
Genius! I need that and I love how you are automating it!
I did this too... I then put automations that my motion sensors in areas where I need hot water kick on the pump. and another automation where during times when we are doing dinner and need hot water at the kitchen, or normal shower times and morning times, I have it kick the pump on during those normal times we use hot water. Then all other times its off, and diffrent for mon-fri and sat-sun. I did this in smart things many years ago at my old house and then my new house is 4x the size and has 4 trunks going to set of branches, so I had to get a mix valve for each trunk, so that branch of outlets gets near instant hot water. .
I wish I could just set which trunk to turn on, i.e. pump under the sink. But those systems are PRICEY and needing 4 of them vs the single pump on the water heater. But this automation works and its awesome!!!!
Granted here in AZ, summer time, cold water is a minimun of 98° water anyways, its not too bad. But winter time, its amazing...
@@MikeHarris1984 I have the Bosch Hot Water Heater 9000 series that doesn't allow for adding an external recirculation pump. However, I do use their app to initiate the recirculation prior to demanding hot water. Your method would be so much easier.
Yes OMMGG, I am so excited to see more content of yours. The whole smart home tour is the best series of yours. Thanks for being the smart home solver 😀
Great job. I don't know how you find all of the time in the day to not only manage a family of 5, but also your smart home infrastructure. Well done.
I’m sure the mrs. deserves a good deal of credit in that regard!
Nanny?
Absolutely incredible. I just bought my first house and finally put in some smart switches. Such a game changer!! Can't wait to make more customizations and really make it my own.
Was thinking of integrating smart technology to my future home that I am planning on building. Never thought the options are this vast. I came for the ideas, I stayed for your awesome and entertaining way you present your video. Simply a nice guy. Thanks for the ideas and a wonderful video.
Absolutely incredible! I really like the vibration sensor on the piano and the NFC tag that pauses doorbell notifications. I need to step it up!
Awesome tour, I love the transitions! I added it to my smart home tour playlist :)
Great ideas, thanks! One thing I did it to create an "alarm", so if my wife and I are in the bedroom with the lights on and the front door opens, a couple of the accent lights in the bedroom turn RED to let us know that we are no longer alone in the house. We call it the KID alarm.
Love every time one of your videos pops up in my feed. Can't get enough!
Omg 😮 you’re a legend. Hitting the cabinet and having that vibration sensor turn things on is awesome. Fonzie from Happy Days sorta stuff. I luv it. Haha.
I thought I had a lot of items in my home but you take the cake. Thank you for sharing, it helps to inspire me to try different things to make life a little better and more enjoyable.
I love your videos. Definitely my favorite Smart Home youtuber. This was a great video and it is pretty amazing how far you've come. Looking forward to more automations!
Thank you so much!
Since moving and getting into HA you now have a real Smart Home and not a bunch of gadgets. Looking good!
Get so many ideas from the tours people record. The Everything Presence One sensor kit seems perfect for multiple projects I have in mind. The foot level lighting in the bathroom and under the bed is perfect for my father when he needs to get up in the middle of the night. He forgets to turn on the light and stumbles into the bathroom. A lot of the things I'm contemplating are focused on making things easier for my dad, who suffers from dementia. So far just using some aqara buttons to let him announce where he needs assistance.
Great job, Reed. I love what you’ve done!
I had the same cold water issue in my home. Game changer was having a recirculation pump installed which keeps warm water flowing through the pipes. I connected the pump to a smart plug and have automated it with Home Assistant to only run when we're home and during times we are likely to use the shower or faucets. Highly recommend for water savings
Love the vids. Keep it up!!! ️
That’s downright astounding! I can’t imagine the cost and work it took to get there!
Reed, use a luminance sensor to control the shades. I use one, if over 500 lux close the shade. I use a helper to disable the automation if I’m going in/out.
Love your videos and this tour is incredible !! Awesome !!
thank you for the update looks great!!!
Yes! I Was waiting for this video!!
Been watching your old vids lately again
Thank you so much! I know I need to be uploading more. My kids are back in school so I'll have more time to make videos.
@@SmartHomeSolver ❤️❤️
AMAZING!!! Your kids literally are growing up in a smart home.
That button for the robot vacuum to clean specifically that room is awesome! I'm going to steal that.
The video I was waiting for!!
🎉❤
Awesome Video! Excited to get a home to try for myself!
I had one idea, you should create an "Owners Manual" lets say for your home and all the tech in it. This way you have great documentation if you ever need to come back to an item that you haven't looked at in awhile. This will also help remind you where you NFC tags are hidden in the light switch panels and their functionality.
This may also help you identify if there are any tech areas which could share resources for a more efficient setup, although it looks like your setup is pretty efficient already.
Love the videos, been subd for awhile now! Keep it up!
Dude! Love the house. I want to see a little smart arm that drops the needle. You could do that easy. Such an automation genius dude. Keep the goods coming
So many incredible ideas!! I’ve “borrowed” some of ur ideas!! You have a super tech smart house!! Love it!!
Love these home tour videos! Thanks!
Keep up the Amazing content! I can't get enough of your smart home videos! I steal so many of your ideas! LOL
Dude your home is something to aspire for. Currently in my first home however whenever i decide to build my own home i am definitely going all out with a smart home and literally everything you have is what i would do!
did you win the lottery?
hey, I just saw that you need to run the shower for long to get hot water. It was the same for me, because the water heater boiler was far away, so I installed a circulating pump for hot water which I trigger just 3 min or so before getting a shower and it is hot right away. Saves a lot of water in a family home:)
You are a legend man. I enjoyed every second of your video
Hey, always enjoy your videos!
Question: How well does your smart home setup handle power outages? In mine, I usually have to go around restarting devices to get everything to work properly again.
Your home is what I imagine mine to be one day. Looks super awesome.
Your video si amazing, all the things you showed are very interesting and i love smart homes 😍
Hi Reed. I’ve been watching your home automation videos for a long time now. Loved this one - I just bought a house in east Mesa and am excited to try some of the same things you’ve implemented in your house. Can you let me know what contractor you used for the outdoor screen setup? It looks like they did a great job and I love how enclosed they were able to make your patio. Thank you!
That is what I was waiting for 😊
For your shower, you can install an instant hot water heat pump in the bathroom that will preheat the water at the push of a button so you don't have to wait and also waste water. This can be useful for the kitchen sink too for cooking.
I need this!
@@SmartHomeSolver I hope that means a video soon 😁
So I really liked your you vibration sensor trigger in your theater. I thought I would share a similar trigger I made a year or two ago. I wanted to create a trigger utilizing the classic 90’s clapper. I do not code, so rather than writing a program I bought the actual clapper. I plugged it into my SmartThings plug switch. I then plugged a nightlight into the clapper. The logic for the trigger was the SmartThings plug switch supplies power to the clapper. The clapper is by default in the off position. When I clap the night light will turn on. The SmartThings plug detects the voltage of the night light and runs the automation. The SmartThings plug with then toggle the power to the clapper resetting it to the off position.
The clapper has two plugs that can be controlled independently using either two claps or three. Theoretically you could have a different voltage devices that could trigger separate automation.
I love your sense of humour.
My back patio window gets a lot of direct sun. I was able to automate the blinds closing when the sun gets above an elevation where the sun shines in. So as the seasons change, the blinds will eventually stay open. But closing them and blocking the sun has reduced my AC costs.
You are amazing! THANKS
Your home is so beautiful and automations are out of this world. After watching this I need to start cleaning my house. 😂😂😂
Great video. Love the automations. I noticed the ping pong ball tied to the ceiling to help with parking distances. Any chance there is an automation where you combine a motion sensor integrated with Sonos that plays a beeping noise in the garage if you get too close to an object?
Bond Bridge is da bomb for controlling smart shades, ceiling fans, and electric fireplaces that are controlled with an RF remote!
Great job! I have a complete view after watching your video. Thanks a lot!
Thank you Reed once again for this great video! I wonder how have you integrated the Aqara G4 Video Doorbell into home assistant, was it with a HACS integration or directly via Home Controller? Thank you in advance.
The Gold Standard of Smart Home! 👏🏻
You are too kind Danny!
Great video. Some awesome smart home items that I’ll be getting soon.
That all sounds expensive but if you have the money! THATS INCREDIBLE!!!!
Hey, longtime fan of your channel, and you gave me a lot of great ideas!
I want to ask you about the Inovelli On/Off switch: how did you program that for the Philips Hue lights? Isn’t that Z wave?
Or did you have to do something through Home Assistant? I was trying to think of a way that could be done with Lutron light switches
bro yall have a crazy house good stuff
Could you publish a step by step ‘how to’ list… would be great to know / understand what infrastructure you recommend buying first etc.👍
I would love to see more in how you got the Stream Deck doing certain things like reporting power usage.
Your videos are brillian and this one is fascinating. How did you automate the Withings mat and the lights?
Great content, i love it. Thanks from Dubai🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
If you’d combine the sensor on the garage door and a presence sensor in the garage you could automate it and letting it close when nobody is around.
amazing video! I am just curious about the thermostat, is it connected to your airconditioning unit (smart AC?) to somehow allow automation on the controls of your desirable temp and humidity in a room?
I've been able to turn on lights since the 80's with the "Clapper" clap on - clap off! Viola! Home automation--------- LOL
Love these videos - gives me ideas!
One thing you might like that I have is a vibration sensor in the mailbox. Let’s me know if there’s mail to collect.
What would you estimate total cost to be to bring in a professional to fully outfit and set up your house with this kit? Any recommendation on particular companies or pathways to achieve this?
Really amazing!
Hi Reed, great tour! Enjoyed watching it. Can i check with you what exactly did u do or setting you use on the Frame TV side to get the notification? Do you know any other doorbell tat can get the same result? Thx!
Cat feeder for sweets is hilarious!
Great video! Do you have a link to the inovelli on/off switch you used? How does it keep power to the smart lights? Is it like a Pico remote, where it's more of a smart button?
The button to have the robot vacuum clean a room is genius!
Could you show how to set up that pixel tablet from the beginning? I also want to set up a tablet as the main control of my smart devices.
I strive to have a smart home half as well built as this!
Reid, can you please do a video on Unifi Protect integration into Alexa so it plays on smart speakers when there's motion at the doorbell or when it rings? Also so it automatically shows video feed on the Show devices? Thanks!! 🎉
Wow, yur smarthome is super cool. U're the Tony Stark of smarthome intergration. The best thing about smarthome is the intergration from different companies in2 a smarthome, like yur home. Thx 4 sharing yur home on Utube.
How do you automate those govee lights at around 16:00? Bit new to HA, but I don't see a govee integration in home assistant. Were you controlling these another way?
Thanks! Great videos, you've been a huge help to me and my partner getting our smart home and server up and running.
Brilliant video as always. How do connect the Bed Sensor up, is this to Home Assistant? I had it set up to Home Assistant and was working fine now just doesn't seem to work, just wondering how you have it set up.
That's a nice house and I like all of your cabinets they look really nice.
Thank you!
Love your content❤
Thank you so much!
Love your videos! Have you been able to automate your garage door to open when you approach without hitting the button? I had it working but it has stopped and wanted to see if you had any tips. I have MyQ on my opener and was using MacroDroid on my Phone (Android). Any tips would be appreciated.
I am actually using your smart home as a guide as to go about setting mine up. Unfortunately my current place of residence is older, so smart switch replacements are not exactly an option.
Love the videos as always. Some of your automation ideas have saved my marriage as well 🤣
Haha just doing my job! 🫡
There is an auto dry/fill/drain adds on system for that roborock model. It should be an easy install since your robot is next to laundry
That would be pretty sweet. I need to look at getting one of those. Last I checked it only was available in China but it might be worth trying to get.
Awesome video! I see you have a Samsung Frame with Apple TV. I have same setup but seems like the art mode doesn't like to come on since the when the apple TV sleeps it just turns the TV off. Did you do any special settings, disable CEC, etc?
Good stuff… what security system would you recommend for outdoor that integrates good with smart home?
I have 2 different video recommendations for you: 1-Integrating a security alarm system with smart home devices can enhance your home's safety and convenience. Example: Ring sensors on, outside cameras on (other than ring cameras). 2- In case of an emergency, such as a power outage or attempted intrusion, it's crucial to safeguard your home effectively. In certain regions like California, where fuse boxes are outside houses, there is a risk of someone disabling your security system by tampering with the fuses. Are you using backup power? if yes, with Tesla Powerball?, if yes, how:)?
Hey Dude! What up man? Incredible video!! Right now I can have many ideas for my house. Your home it's a dream! Thank for share. I like more used the pet Dispenser how candy dispenser! I love it. Bye
Great video. Interested to know which controls you are using on hassio to dim your lights like that. that card with all the lights and the dimming slider on the right of them.
I’ve been using the Logitech harmony hub integrated with my system as an IR blaster for the last few years and it works okay, but may try to replace it soon. Are there any alternatives you would recommend?
Thanks Reed.
Put your bed motion sensor under the nightstand, on the wall, facing outwards. It works for me.
That you have a zero dollar electric bill with all these devices is mind blowing.
Thanks for sharing
I love the cabinets under your tv in the living room. What kind are they?
Amazing...Smart Homen😮
Hi there! What security system do you use? I'm trying to choose between DIY or ADT pro install, but I'm having a hard time figuring out what security alarm works best wtih Google.
Interesting to see you're still using the P2 sensor. Mine is still quite buggy - to the point where I consider going back to the P1.
Multiple zone lighup is insane!
I'm imagining myself coming for dinner, leaving thinking I just spent an hour and a half listening to a home automation sales pitch.
Incredible how neat your house is, and how you packed it to the bring with expensive gadgets, Great tour! What sector do you work in?
Thanks! I was a full stack developer for years but now I just do UA-cam full time.
I have several smart home features. I have the Lutron shades and they are on a schedule. I installed a motion switch in the pantry. I just got the Roborock Q Revo but have to set up schedules. So my home is not as smart as yours but I am working on it. I need to get a hub like yours. Right now everything is on its own app. I’m 71 and I love tech. It’s a work in progress. 😁🤪
Awesome! Yes a hub is nice to have everything in one place. You are doing great though and have fun!
