  • We have a new color available for Makaira SEA series reels. Matte Black was offered as a limited run a couple years ago. By popular demand Okuma has now included this color option for the SEA version Makaira series reels for 2022/2023

They should bring out another limited run of the single color solid blue. I’ve got one in 130 and there’s well over a dozen LBSF guys harassing me for it😂

For LBSF using a fishing drone, would you recommend an Avet 80/130 or a Mak80/130? Okuma just came out with a new LBS Mak80 that looks promising and it seems like the Mak130 SEa II is a great option too. Avet has the best drag out there but I have heard their reels can be inconsistent. What are your thoughts? Thanks for the informative video.

Really its a subjective question and your experience will prove more useful than my guesses from a distance. I can't speak to the power of lift of the drone, line tests, weights... From the standpoint of Avet vs. Makaira, both have strengths. Avet's value leads the market. Makaira performance, freespool, smoothness of drag, warranty, all lead in those categories. Avets are built like tanks, Makairas are too, but to me are a little more refined. Both are great long term ownership pieces, both manufacturers have excellent factory service. So, I'll say "heads you win, tails you win".

@@CharkBaitUSA Any recommendations on which rod to pair with either one of those? I'm looking at using 200-lb braid and will eventually be targeting large sharks using the drone, if that helps.

    Hi Mark
Coming for vacation from Missouri will be there Sunday night August 21, 2022 until Wednesday 25.
Love your reel’s so looking for something salt strong for my yearly visit to Florida to play with on the beach and at home it will be going after big flatheads and blue cat’s.
    What would you recommend?
Currently using Shimano Calcutta 400b and enjoying it and would like a second reel.

Negative. For lefty reels go Avet or Accurate. One of the brothers who own Avet is a lefty, thus they have best source for true lefty reels. Accurate followed Avets lead, so they al;so offer true left hand crank reels across entire line.
