When I was just 18, I accidentally discovered the Guyver when I went to visit a great shop of manga, anime, etc etc...I bumped into a wonderful statue hand painted. I didn't know what he/she/it was, but it was love at first sight for that character. After an explanation about the story, Guyver became immediately part of my life. I buoght mangas, videotapes, DVD, and action figures. Because of I'm Italian, the italian anime episodes are very different from this one you uploaded! This version in amazing! Thanks a lot!!!!
Greetings Friend. Wonderful Story. Almost the same as i have with that Character except that i'm from Germany. Funny Side Note: I have a Friend in Italy who also loves the Guyver. He has Actionfigures, Mangas etc. His Name is also Gabriele. 😃
Don't think it gets said enough that Guyver II's redesign was a major improvement. In the manga, he was pretty much identical to Guyver I, barring the asymmetrical faceplate. Here, he not only looks unique, but also rougher. Gaps and odd shapes on his armor act as visual indications that the damaged control medal affects the unit negatively.
When I was a kid, I remember seeing this thanks to my dad and a local comic shop we got that had rentals available, and I gotta tell ya, seeing Lisker consumed slowly by Unit 2 always scared the crap outta me!

And that glare she was giving him when he zoned out at the meeting still makes me laugh. Also my VHS of this had the translation of the signs at Tetsuro's club. If I remember right it said, "Science Fiction Club. The future belongs to us." Then the little sign on the other side of the door said, "The past belongs to everyone else."
@TM Films 2005 iteration. It was closer to the manga but its pacing wasn't very good and the fights were very underwhelming. Which is saying a lot as the fight scenes in the 90's OVA weren't fantastic, but they had a lot more detail and gore.
The plot is much more fleshed out (more room to breathe but also more to the point), the voice acting was far more iconic (even though it's technically worse), the fights were better, the feeling was more prevalent and to top it all off, it was one of the biggest parts of my childhood growing up. I still remember the day my father brought home video tapes of this anime. Those were the days man (I was 5-7 ish). In other words, if you think TL;DR, I agree with you.
I remember many years ago now that the ova of Guyver was available on VHS. They were about 30 mins each episode and 12 episodes. They were released slowly over several weeks/months but i got them all. Eps 1-6 were the best. The rest afterwards you could tell there was a drop in quality but still pretty good. I remember seeing a bit of eps 4 during the team 5 attack on the school and always wondered what it was then discovered the series and been hooked ever since. Wish they did a reboot and a game.
The voices in guyver form sound so much different compared to the UK version. This version's voice filter has a metallic echo where as in the UK version, their voice filters are more distorted and sounded very similar to a Zolanoid's filter.

Guyver is straight-up bad ass. It would have been cool if Guyver 2 unit still worked and somehow became an anti-hero, so there would be 3 good Guyver throughout the series.
Guyver 1 and 2 are cult favorites of mine, heres hoping we see a reboot soon, this universe would be fucking incredible with the cg and practical fx we have these days!!!...

Any other shounen anime would've kept Guyver II as a recurring villain, or even put him through a redemption arc. Not The Guyver. Killed forever in episode 2 just to show us the Guyver's one weakness.
I know this comment is 2 years old, but Sho actually managed to cut his control medal(if you look closely at the glowing line on Lisker's Control Medal), then dealt the final blow. The armor isn't dying, it is literally consuming it's host. The Control Medal is there to keep it in check and force it to become the Bio-Booster Armor.
Does anyone know why the art direction suddenly changed after episode 6 & the Chronos Japan arc? I'm curious to know. Eps 1-6 had un-godly animation. Some of the best I've ever seen. Why the sudden dip in quality?
Maybe its just me but it looked like they were able to pick themselves back up decently with its final episode cuz I swear that one looked better animated than 7 to 11.

Youre not wrong. In the first 6 episodes at the very end of the credits there was a Zoanoid data file where it told you a bit about a particular Guyver or Zoanoid like its strengths etc. It was pretty good.
There used to be more. The dude who uploaded all the U.S Renditions Guyver episodes (in parts of 3) deleted them two months ago for reasons that baffle me. I should've downloaded them when I had the chance.

Not relocated or moved to a new location at all it was foreclosed and out of business. It was that for YEARS until something was there, is there now that's different and still there, or has been many things in the more than 15 years I haven't been there, so I don't know. Places in my hometown, was only the MOVIE GALLERY or my local library had movie checkout. BTW that was Gallery with a symbol in the A spot could never figure out what it was I think it's some Greek mathematical symbol or something like a broken but upside-down A for the sign outside, so it matched the actual logo design. That's how IDK dingy my town is. People always never had the right letters for their business signs, either people stole them, or they just weren't given or never just had the rights one's ever. I thought that funny something wild.

Probably blew all the budget in ep6 lmao.
Budget, it was at least a year or two between the different arcs, probably a diff animation team. But 9/10 the culprit is budget/time.

Even in the original Japanese version, the voice of the Guyver doesn't sound like a robot. Why did they do it for the US version! So dumb.
