Hi Barry, I came across your video's on youtube about 2 months ago and I can't stop watching them. I looked at your boat building films, all 100 episodes and found them very interesting and entertaining indeed. I am 80 years old, spent all my life in Bradford, Yorkshire. My marriage broke up 11 years ago and I came to live in Dunoon on the west side of the Clyde, the opposite coast to you. I am a fanatical fisherman (Angler) all my life sea fisherman out of Whitby and a Salmon angler in the rivers of Scotland, and know the in's and out's of the sea, but as you say we are still learning, so to come across you films was a breath of fresh air to me. You have given me hours of interesting watching learning about boat building, Just like to say the "Linsey B" looks a great boat and it's been interesting to watching you building her, it's a credit too you. Anyway enough of me babbling on like you do, (only joking) Keep the films coming, and I look forward to more great entertainment. All the best to you my friend.
I’ve been whatching them since day one

We hope you're well, bud.
Thank you as always for your great comments. We really appreciate them.
Let's hope you're right, and we can build on what we have.😍😁👌
All the very best.😊
We call the ones with no claws telephones
🤣🤣🤣🤣 it's amazing what they are all called up and down the country.
It's the same with the undersized lobsters and even creels themselves have different names.
Only 20 miles down the coast, they are called creevs, not creels.🤷♂️🙈😁👌
All the best, young man.😉👍
Another great video, what a shame so many had to go back, but the few you caught looked great Jeff did well to film and not 🤢 as it was realy choppy, I love his underwater filming of lobsters swimming
As always, Anne.
Thank you so much for your wonderful com comment.
I must admit, Jeff edits a damn fine vlog.
The hrs he puts in are incredible. Never mind the shots he can get when I'm busy working.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your week.
All the very best. 😍😊
Good morning Barry and Geoff yes it looks a bit damp I can hear a slight knocking in your engine still!!!
Hi Ken.
Thank you for your comment.
Yeah, that's done my head in from the get-go bud.
I think it's coming from the water pump. There's also a wee squeal, too.
Think the bearings are cheap because it's done that since I started with the lynsey B.
All the best bud.😉👍
Thanks for a great video and all the best wishes for you
Thank you very much indeed Stephen 😁 👌
Kind wishes to you also.😉👍
The large parlour pots seem to be getting a lot of fish ? nicely done Mr Camera man some good underwater imagery there. enjoyed it
Hi Scott
Thank you for your kind message.
Yeah, the big parlours are fishing rather well indeed, very pleased with them.😁👌
All the best.😊
I used to launch my boat in Dunbar harbour most weekends before I moved to Australia. Your videos are fantastic, I wish you all the best 👍
Hi Glen.
Thank you very much indeed for your kind comment.
It's very much appreciated.
All the best 😊 😉👍
Nice video again Barry. Was Jeff feeling a bit green again? A few decent Lobsters, I hope they paid for the trip..🙂😊
Hi Keith.
I really hope you're keeping well.😁👌
Yeah, it wasn't the nicest day for poor Jeff, but to be honest, it hasn't been much of a summer for nice weather. That's also great for gaining your sea legs faster.🙈🤣and 🤣🤣🤣
Just enough lobbies to keep us going I'm afraid, but not every day is catching day.
We hope you enjoy the rest of your week.
All the very best.
Baz 😊👍
Sort of "bumpy" out there that day. Hey how are those larger traps potting for you. It may just be the ground you're setting them in, but you're catch numbers seems to be higher. Thanx for posting.
Hi bud.
Yeah, the big wooden parlour are doing well, in deep water and in the shallows, so a great all-rounder.😍😁👌
Yeah it was a poor day, but nothing to that FANTASTIC wee Cygnus 21. Our baby, the Lynsey B.😍😁👌
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, buddy.😉👍
Why no cabin Barry ? I’m guessing to avoid the wind pushing you around while actually fishing , but man, getting out of the wind while motoring to a mark is worth it ! I used to hire one boat with a telephone kiosk style cabin aft, and freeze the lads on the way out. Not much appreciated !
Hi bud.
She's a small boat, and i needed as much work space as I could muster, and a wheelhouse would take up too much room. Then, we also have the stability issue.
All the best 😊
Another great video Barry
Looking at the amount of undersized lobsters returned you should have a few years left fishing.
Looks a lovely harbour and worth a visit if in the area
Dave
Hi Dave.
Thank you so much for your kind comment.
Dunbar is a lovely wee place..if you do visit, please tip the hat, I'm always up for a bleather 🤣🤣🤣😁👌
All the best.😊
Great video again Barry and some nice lobsters but again well earned. Do you continue fishing when the lobster season ends? Might be a silly question but how do you prevent the ropes tangling up when you are shooting the pots? Always looks risky to me! Jeff looked a bit under the weather!(my grandmother looked like him the day before she died!😂). Enjoy you break and try to recharge your batteries. Best wishes, Dave, broadstairs
Hi Dave.
Thank you so much for your comment and questions.
Yes, we work all the year through, but obviously, we are limited in the weather we can put in in the winter.
That's why we have to work every day we can in the summer.😁👌
I can get what you're seeing with the rope going over the side. And it does get tangled sometimes.
The best way to shoot is slow and steady. That way, you have control of the situation, and always be prepared for the unexpected. 😁👌
Yeah, Jeff wasn't too good that day, but he's doing really well at earning his sea legs.
And the effort he puts in week in week out is outstanding.
I am very proud of his sea keeping achievements as getting your sea legs must be the hardest part of a novice at fishing.
All the very best, Dave.😊
Hey Barry I think you need some grease on the pulley?!!
It's greased every 3 days, Bruce.
The noise you are hearing is the stress of pulling the boat through the tide and the depths.😁👌
But don't worry, bud, you're not the only one to pick up on the noise.🤣🤣🤣😁👌
All the very best.😊
Hi, thank you for all the great videos and greetings from Ireland. Just out of curiosity, how many kilos of lobster would you catch on an average day that you can sell
Hi Martin.
Thank you for your comment and question.
It all depends on what time of year it is and how much gear we pull.
At present, my top score for this season is 27 kg, which was 54 lobsters. That's pulling 93 creels.
But that's only been 1 top day. The rest has been in the 30's.
All the best.😊
Is Aberdeen really the closest Coastguard centre to Dunbar?
It used to be forth coastguard bud.
But the government be8ng the government shut it down.
All those decades of experience All gone in the brush of a pen.
But we should be used to that from government twats 😡😡😡
Welll....technically theres 2 guys. But the second guy must be the boss, all he does is watch ya work. Bahahahahhaaa dont mind if my comments get read or not. The interraction helps your channel with the Al Gore Rhythyms . Nor sure what a soft jazz orchestra has to do with youtube though, or how it helps ya, but thats what they say.
🤣🤣🤣
Brilliant comment, bud.
Love this one!
And your so right, every comment and reply helps the dreaded algorithm.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write yours and helping the channel
Enjoy the rest of your weekend
All the best 😊
Whats the reply then always wondered why
Thank you Davie.
All the best.😊
Do you have any estimate of the number of crabs and/or lobsters that you return to the sea because they are undersized get eaten by predators before they reach the safety of the bottom?
Hi Terry
Thank you for your comment and question.
Our seals aren't that interested in crustaceans and generally leave them alone.
They only have a maximum of 12 fathom to get to the bottom, so most of them will survive the trip down.😁👌
Wish we could tail them all the way to the bottom to see them get to the sea floor. That would be cool.😁👌
All the best.😊
Hey Baz, how have you never got a foot wrapped and gotten whipped overboard? Looks pretty risky to me... Greetings [and enjoying following along} from Perth, West Australia. Cheers, Frank.
Hi Frank.
Thank you for your comment and support.
I had once when I was 12!
Luckily, it was just the flag end, and I never listened to my dad, thought I knew best, and that was the result.
Thankfully, never again as I always watch the rope, and take my time.😁👌
All the best from Bonnie Scotland 🏴😍😁👌
Never, while he has the Bazza Shuffle goin on😉
@@daveweller9550 🤣🤣🤣 the Bazza shuffle!🤣🤣🤣 Good one Dave😉👍
@@onemanandhisboat take it Bazza, it’s all yours.
🤣🤣🤣😁👌
Another enjoyable video Barry but can i ask you what is the distance between each creel pot pal?
Hi Albert.
Thank you for your kind comment and question.
They are 12 fathom between each pot bud as that about the depths I work.😁👌
All the best.😊
Thank you for your reply mate, had to look that one up 😂😂 so 21 meters apart, cheers Barry and all the best bud
@albertrussell4224 your more than welcome, bud.
Yeah meters sorry, just used to fishermen terms.🤣🤣🤣
no problems mate i understand@@onemanandhisboat
