Hi Barry, I hope other viewers realise the seriousness of our situation regarding the MCA. As a fellow fisherman I just want to let everyone know that you are actually being very polite and careful with your words. The situation this government has created for the Inshore fishing fleet over the last few years is almost criminal. They sit in offices telling us how to be safe when most of them have never been to sea. Even worse are the kids (MCA officers) who stand on deck checking their phones to see what question to ask next, then telling you its unsafe for your boat to fish as you don't have a particular piece of paper on board! Two years ago we had a 10m potting boat, a 10m trawler and a 6m netting boat. The little boat was sold last year and the 10m potter is coming out for an overhaul before being sold this month. This is mainly because my sons and I are sick to death of being hassled by the MCA when all we want to do is carry on running our business. Personally I think the government made a deal behind closed doors agreeing to shut down the UK fishing fleet post brexit. It wouldn't be the only lie they've told! Well, as you sometimes say, "Rant over"!! Good luck with everything and I hope that in 12 months time we are both still fishing. We shall see....
I lost my fishing rights back in 1993 with MCA changes to rod and line charter angling. Totally agree with the comment above about how Barry talks on the video. Very restrained.
Wow! Thank you so much for this wonderful comment. This is exactly how the MCA effects small inshore business. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I'm absolutely gutted for you all, but putting in writing like this and letting our viewers see the truth behind what they the MCA are trying to do, which is decommission the Inshore fleet. We wish you all the very best.😊👍

The legal limit seems so small compared to the potential size they can grow to be, the same with crabs, wowuld it not be better to have a min and max size which over time would allow larger specimens to be taken whilst keeping an ever increasing number of large breeders
@pinkfoothunter1 oh yes, the fishermen have been shouting this for years, but as usual, the government are VERY slow on the up take bud. I would trust them to manage a sweetie shop in the middle of a play ground, never mind actually manage a fishery 😉👍

Hi Scott. Thank you for your comment and question. We do try our best to shoot the creels away from one another and sometimes accidents happen and you shoot or get shot across by another vessel. Drop there line away, then either tie or splice the rope back together, then be on your merry way as before. 😁👌 I hope that makes sense. All the best.😊

You seem to release a lot of under size lobsters what do you recon your catch keep ratio is ie 1 in 10 love the scenery shots makes me feel very homesick
Hi John. It will obviously vary as the year goes on. But at this time of year, there are usually between 4 & 9 lobsters in a creel, with 1 or 2 keepers but that's just an average number, it all depends on where your gear is, what size are the tides, if there's swell in the water, if the bait is good, yes all different factors go into fishing.😁👌 Thank you so much for your kind comment. I'm sorry we make you home sick, but at least you can see Sunny Dunbar via our vlogs weekly 😁👌 Always a plus somewhere, bud.🤣🤣🤣 All the best.😊
Hi Barry, Really enjoying your videos 👍I like the idea of using wooden creels, far better fishers. Be interesting if you set a line of single end creels to see if there would be an improvement in catches. its what most people use where I fish. I tried using fleets and found that most of the gear was not landing in the right spots. by using singles I don't need to work as much gear. gear is so expensive so every creel has to count 🦞🦞🦞
Hi Calum. Thank you so much for your comment and advice. Unfortunately, single pots wouldn't work here as there are too many light fingered folks about. Plus, there too many ends with the big players already, that single ends would be easily lost in the vastness of ends already at sea.🤣🤣🤣🙈🙈🙈🤣🤣🤣 But I really do appreciate your suggestion and support, bud. Safe and profitable fishing. All the best 😊
