I love how her ethos isn’t minimalism because for some people that just doesn’t work. Yes you may have, for example, 20 lipsticks but if you love each and everyone of them then that’s great.
Having stuff that you love is a huge part of minimalism. If having 20 lipsticks sparks joy for you like any collection does, you should definitely keep them. Minimalism is more about getting rid of things that don't serve a purpose, such as stuff you don't need nor love, and that clutter our life in a way.
Agreed, and she took it further and suggested that only the essential ones be carried in the tote bag every day and the others stay at home for when you need them. So again I love that she doesn't tell you to "throw everything away"--which is a huge misconception I see over and over and over when people talk about MK.
Exactly what I was thinking. She never gives her opinion like throw it away, or maybe it's not useful. She really lets you decide and just organizes whatever you have.
Exactly. I have a lot of clothes but I absolutely wear every single piece. When people comment that I should "declutter" and that I don't need all of them I want to strangle them.
@@isabellastarnone8396 that is not true. Minimalisam is the exact opposite of that. It's having very few simple things and not giving too much value to materialistic stuff and leting it distract you from what really matters. Having 20 lipsticks isn't exactly that ..... I don't understand where you got that from.

It's not a voiceover, it's her lovely translator, Iida! You should see her on the Netflix show, she rapidly translates between Japanese and English and is super quick with idioms in both languages - it's super impressive.

and it is a voice over, in my opinion, because the translators voice is being put over maries.

Did anyone notice how sweet they were all being to compensate for the language barrier? Making hand motions, using simple words, demonstrating what the objects were and how they used them. Even opening up lipsticks to show the color like school girls hahah

Omg, I at least have one thing in common with Marie; whenever I organize my backpack, I ALWAYS put in the big items first. Whenever I see my friends put everything in at once, I get so triggered and start picking everything out of their backpack again XD

That was actually her interpreter Iida. She works with her on her Netflix show, and I think they gave her a mic as well for this video so she's actually there working with Marie while filming.
Its not just a thick accent, She doesnt speak much english. But yeah it should have subs because i love listening to her voice 😂
Kayla Abernathy has accent isn’t just thick, she’s speaking in Japanese. My understanding is that she knows enough English to get by, but feels more comfortable speaking in Japanese. Her translator is a sweetheart and came with her to all the houses in her documentary

That's me and my hosiery, i have so many, but all of them are different for different season and occasion. I dont wear lipstick, but i can understand having 20 or even 50, the thing is you dont need 10 in your bag, have 3-4 most used and most flattering so you dont have to remember every day to put the lipstick in the bag. That should be enough.

I know lots of ppl disliked the idea of emptying your bag everyday when you come home. This is a good show why it is actually a great idea. Or weekly at least. It is far too easy to put stuff in you might just need that day and put new stuff again the day after without removing what you don’t need anymore.
My boyfriend keeps things in his backpack that are really old, like 2 years old (papers, maps, tickets from trips, bottles, handcreams, spare batteries etc.) and when we are going to trip he doesn't empty it after we get back (only his essentials like wallet and phone) and he fill it with another stuff again for another trip. It's driving me crazy. I normally empty my bag every week, maybe even more frequently and after every trip I empty it completely. I think it is normal thing to do, so you can have clean bag.

This is so cool, bingewatching all Marie Kondo videos. Too bad Marie charges 5000,- a hour or she could help me tidy up my house 😁 Well I started couple of days ago with my 6yr old daughter bedroom. Oh finally, she has space in the drawers and closet by folding pyjamas, socks, underwear, shirts etc. My sister helped me get rid of old clothes every season. I'm glad the trend "fashion statement bag" is over since my early 20s because my bag was getting pretty heavy. I put so much stuff in there not so much make up. At 27yrs old I decided to buy a 15,- medium size bag @ Primark and only took important stuff with me like; wallet,travelcard, phonecharger,bubblegum, waterbottle, perfume, book, make up ( wipes). All of a sudden I started to put more stuff in the bag and it broke, that happened with 5 different bags. Last summer I was done with all the crap I schlepped around daily. On Zalando website I saw a cute small crossbody bag and immediatley bought 1 black, three in pastel colors. Im now 35yrs old and still in love with the bags. Especially when your a mom, less is more😅
I love doing this tidying but it takes ages to really get stuff how you want it's very skilled and if you move house you start again each time. It is more of a hobby to keep things right in your house bit like a lovely shop! 💓
