Lenny Mclean WAS in lock stock.. They wanted to have an "Enforcer" character in the movie, so hired someone who had actually been an enforcer in real life.. The ice cream wars, was a crazy time.. One of my best mates grew up in scotland and he said that the ice cream vans would pull up like normal, kids would go and buy an ice cream or ice lolly, then an adult would go up, buy and ice cream, but it had an 8ball of heroine stuffed into the bottom of the cone. Last time Charles bronson went back to prison, as stated it was for conspiracy to rob, which translates to, he was planning to rob someone, not he actually robbed someone. Which means he should have gone away for a fairly short amount of time, but because of his actions while in jail, his sentence just kept getting bigger and bigger. It included things like taking prison guards hostage, for no real reason other than boredom, he would toy with them for a few hours, scaring the daylights out of them, then just yell out "Ok ive had enough, you can come and get him" and let the guard go free. He spends most of his time in solitary confinement, mainly for everyone elses safety, he is rarely ever allowed to mix with other people (guards or prisoners) The kray twins we commonly known as "The gentlemen of murderers" If you wansn't involved, in that life, you basically had nothing to worry about, they would be nice as you like, shake your hand and be friendly with you. If you crossed them, you was basically a dead man walking. One of my aunties had a cafe in london, which the krays would visit all the time. They loved her like family, if anyone bothered her or acted unruly i nthe cafe they would take care of it for her (never in the cafe) She had a back room which the krays could use for holding business meetings, on the understanding it was ONLY for meetings. They was not allowed to do anything to people back there and they 100% respected that rule. If they was holding a meeting and something kicked off, they would simply get up, take the person outside and deal with it there. On her birthday and around christmas time, they would bring her bottles of champagne or other gifts to say thank you for allowing them to use the back room and for cooking them breakfasts.
wasnt charlies conspiracy to rob an accusation by his ex wifes new husband, i remember when i read about it, it always felt like it was made up just to spite him and ruin his life
The Krays are complicated. While being extremely vicious, they kept violence to members of the criminal community (mostly), and were famous for making the part of London they controlled safe for normal citizens. An apocryphal story is that a mugger attacked an old lady and was caught by the Krays who nailed him to a door saying "that could've been my mum". Take it with a pinch of salt, but a lot of normal people thought they did a service keeping common crime and violence in check.
Yep. It's also important to remember that in the early days they also focused a lot of their crime on rich people that where taking advantage of the poor and often paid for things the poorer working class needed - this led to them having a bit of a Robin Hood image in the early days. This did change in their later years when a lot of their business was within richer circiles, but it did lead to there being a lot of the older generation around London who at least would have tales of "they Krays can't have been that bad. They did 'x' for my mom, so clearly they where good people at heart!"
Went on a fascinating Krays tour in Whitechapel. Definitely complicated, to the point of local hero worship. Were even involved in the Cable Street battles with British Fascists pre WWII helping to protect the local Jewish community.
I grew up in an area where a lot of cockneys moved to, as a child I thought the krays ran the east ends biggest crèche because all my friends parents would tell stories of how they were baby-sat by the krays
'GBH' is 'Grievous Bodily Harm' . It's the most serious charge for assault short of 'attempted murder'. The Glasgow Ice Cream Wars were a very serious thing, which peaked in 1984, with the murder of 6 people on one day.
He already had brain cancer our Lenny boy in those pics of Lock Stock but boy did his voice still have its bellow and its depth, especially when he shouts "quick". I shit my pants just watching it lol.
As I said to another reactor who saw this same video recently, many years ago, my dad ran a small printing company in north London. One day, a rough-looking guy came in and asked for a rush job. When the guy came to pick it up, he looked at the printing and said "Very nice. Reggie will be pleased with this." Dad didn't sleep for a week worrying about what would have happened if Reggie hadn't been pleased!
the tom hardy kray film came out in 2015. there was a krays film out in 1990 where gary and martin kemp from the 80's band spandau ballet(new romantic, pop) played the krays.gary then played whitney houston's character rachel's manager in the bodyguard and martin was in soap opera eastenders.
'Wan Baw' McGraw in Glasgow means 'One Ball' McGraw btw. He was rumoured to have had lost one of his nuts, so that's what anybody who didn't respect him, referred to him as.
In my humble opinion, the film Bronson starring Tom Hardy isn't a great film, but Hardy's performance is fantastic and compelling enough to keep me watching until the end. Of course, these things are totally subjective, and I'm sure plenty of people rate it highly.
The guy with the scary face at 8:55 is Craig Fitzpatrick. He isn't a gangster. He's an actor. Famous for playing Lewis Seddon in Waterloo Road. This is a clip from the film, A Very British Gangster. So although he wasn't a gangster in real life, he was actually jailed for 18 months in 2020, after threatening a family with a machete. He's been in trouble with the police several times over the years. So, not a nice guy.
Hey man, just wanted to say, you have a real nice voice. I went to school with Tom Hardy. I know. No one believes me but there it is. Our mothers met in the same hospital giving birth at the same time. To say he's become more successful than me lol... would just be a silly thing to say. But I remember the last time I met him in the local pub, I just go the feeling, there's noting this guy can't do. All I want to say is, it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. I mean, he's sound as a pound. Rory Kinnear on the other hand, who went to the same school (Tower House, East Sheen) and plays Bill Tanner in the James Bond films, well if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. Keep up the good work! xx
Ahhhh love a good bit of gossip! Yeah I know some assoles that are up their own arse too... They should have mentioned the range rover murders, there's a movie called (Rise of the foot soldiers) very good film, based on true story and you can watch real footage on documentaries
The Kray twins were victims of their own publicity. They rarely harmed members of the general public - their victims were other criminals and they were mostly well liked by the people who lived near them because they cared and took care of non-criminals. I met many of those in the Kray's favourite pub.

One of the reasons some of these gangsters were able to walk about and do their business in the open as you say is because they put money into the area they lived looking after those they saw needing help! Not taking away they were gangsters but they were/are people too most of them grew up early post war when the UK was completely broke so when these gangsters would pay a families grocery bills or give the local kids sweets etc that's how you get a community that will defend them. It's a lot different nowadays as guns are used a lot more than when most of these gangsters were doing their business so they used other methods as you've seen sick and twisted methods but that's how you breed fear into others especially other gangsters showing them how far they would go to keep/defend or take others money etc etc. Charles Bronson/Salvador is actually an ARTIST and his art sells very well and I don't think he set up that foundation just as a ploy for parole. Watch the documentary about him and watch Bronson the film as tom hardy plays him amazingly well!
Tom Hardy goes from strength to strength as an actor 👍 and he does play the BAD GUY/GUY'S role extremely well,Bronson and Legend are both very good films but i 🤔 his role as a BAD GUY in th film LAWLESS 2012 was one of his finest imho,a definite watch.

GBH - Grievous Bodily Harm
Yeah watch mojo haven’t got a clue mate
Try Tom Hardy in the peaky blinders another great portrait (?) Of a rough edged character
Yeah he got actual gangster for his movie lol
Tom Hardy goes from strength to strength as an actor 👍 and he does play the BAD GUY/GUY'S role extremely well,Bronson and Legend are both very good films but i 🤔 his role as a BAD GUY in th film LAWLESS 2012 was one of his finest imho,a definite watch.
I'd have put the fewtrels at number one Eddie was a legend and he batted the krey twins 3 times
"Grievous Bodily Harm"
George Raft was a gangster before an actor .
You should watch the legend with Tom hardy he plays both of the twin’s absolutely brilliant
Tam McGraw lived a very charmed life for a reputed 'gangster' there's been several Glasgow underworld figures in his time that questioned his credibility. To the point of accusing him of being a police informer.
Make of that what you will.
If you haven't watch legend with Tom Hardy then you should. He plays both Kray twins
guy ritchie uses alot of real gangsters in his movies
No mention of Kenny Noye?
Exactly the whole list is twaddle near enough he insists tho on watching nonsense watchmojo content because he's not interested in the subject just views
I remember the noonan especially the brother that was stabbed, who was also an alleged hitman.
He was stabbed by a worthless druggie over some deal.
The other Noonan was gay, and once bragged that he had more guns than the police.
But he did like his young kids apparently🤔
You have to watch the film ‘legend’ with Tom hardy it’s my favourite movie about the cray twins
McLean is pronounced maclain.
The Krays might have been ruthless but they didn't Tolerate crimes against women.
9:02 you are the spot of that guy lool
Bronson well worth a watch
Pete and Baz are the first two people who now come to mind first when talking about British gangsters. Best 70 year old rappers. Sindhu Sesh goes hard.
they aren't gangsters though, they are cosplaying as gangsters, which is fine but obviously not the same.
Yes Kenny was or still is as real gangter. May aswell get the real deal into play the part.
