- Well... welcome back to the broken, 21 foot, 1977 Wellcraft Open Fisherman boat restoration. Where we watch Chaney struggle over this tease of a boat that may never even see the water again at this point! In this video the boat gets a new impeller, starter, starter ground wiring, all 3 carburetors freshly rebuilt and a new ignition switch, and guess what; IT STILL DOESN'T WORK!! WOW!! Please inspire me. Don't quit on this thing. I recently purchased a 1987 with the 3.7 Mercruiser I/O. It was a charity auction boat. I took a chance on mine too knowing that the engine would need replacement. Got a good one for cheap almost ready to go in. I am doing lots of cosmetic work, replacing old hardware and filling lots of holes and scratches. Hope to post pictures once the project is a bit further. Good luck on yours.

My buddy had to replace the fuel tank in his 97 trophy . He said the hell with it had the work done at a shop. They did a good job! The guy said the tank was not locked in place, rubbed a whole in the bottom of the tank! Bayliners!

make sure that shifter rod that goes up into the engine has the pin in it
Bro, i gotta double check that I put the lower unit in correctly. No issues with it running now, just wont go in gear. I will look into that.
8:14 when you changed the impeller you misaligned the shift rod on reassembled you shot yourself in the foot not the motors fault. Human error if you sold it you gave the new owner a big time saver by fixing everything else that it needed whish it had been me thanks dude. Your impatience and frustration just cost you a chunk of money and time
Tbh I actually really appreciate this comment, I talked to a few people who told me the shift shaft was the issue. (turned a 4 figure profit after all money invested and learned a ton😉)
@@MiddleClassMayhem wasnt trying to be an as% just when you are young you sometimes get in a hurry. I was exactly the same as you when I was your age and it cost me dearly in things I whish I still owned. I will still check out your videos and comment when I feel compelled to or think I can help, I will try and be more diplomatic with my words tho.

I had a 96 offshore 200 beat me up because I didn’t fully tilt it in…safety mechanism!
Just adjust the shift rod ti make it go into gear you must have put it back together wrong
