I bought it over the xu10 cause you said how great it performed, but the buttons are pretty stiff. Sure they work ok but it's a labor to press them. For instance to play baseball advance, you you have to hold and aim the dpad or joystick as you press the pitch button and it's hard to aim it properly. Also not only is the volume level stiff, but it's almost even with the frame which requires accuracy and use of your finger nail and takes a few times to adjust the setting. Other than that it's a pretty good handheld.

I guess it takes a while to reach America 🇺🇸. Since China is somewhat close to the Netherlands. Your packages might come in faster.
My problem with the XU-10 is it has locked software. This is a total deal breaker for me. This isnt a nintendo device. Why is it locked? Also, updating the latest ARKOS firmware makes the r36s way more reliable in both psp and dreamcast.
@@budgetking2591 bigest thing is to update to the latest arkos and portmaster build, then watch a guide on loosening the d-pad. Its too stiff out of the box, which will hurt your fingers over time. But its a pretty easy fix.
Taki was able to unlock it and change the OS with some difficulty. From the video it looks like he spammed the back button during a menu and then with difficulty navigated a broken Retroarch menu system where he could only see half the screen at a time. Eventually was able to restore XMB and then a nicer interface. Check out his XU10 review for what I'm talking about. He didn't do a full house too, but I think there was enough in there that I can figure it out and I want to try it. Also the XU10 can be gotten closer to $50ish right now.
Just want to say taki kind of found a fix for buttons for 36s. it is the same as in the SF2000 unscrew a screw on the pcb the form factor controller gets a lot better. And want to say Also before they get sued by anbernic some vendors are now undercuting other on ali express. There is a war going on If you want a 36s, a 35xx, or a xu10 now os the time
@@fldsmdfr9107 there is a screw on the PCB that If you loosen it the d pad Will BE softer. I found out myself. Even If you alliviate the screws on the Shell Will help
XU-10 is close to the performance I would want for so little money. Hopefully later in 2024 there will be a version this cheap with a faster chipset that allows N64 and Dreamcast to play better and I'm all in. Something a teeny bit faster than an RK3566 chipset for example should just about manage it
U only need wifi if u care about retroachievements. If u care about OTA, its really easy to update your firmware if you have a PC without needing wifi on the device.
Cant go wrong with the r36s with button mod and os/sd upgrade. If you do this, it is better than the x. I am going to attempt some plastic surgery on mine for a 5000mah-6000mah battery!
Wicked just a heads up. Are you branching out to "Ali Express"? If so I don't understand the method. I was searching "PS2 console". One of your product comparisons was on offer. Over 10 minutes. It compared the "older hand held PS2" to the "2021 PS2". You were pretty critical. Weird sales method. I have a screen capture by the way. Thanks.

Na i prefer to have choices and a competive market. Keeps companies on their toes , dont want the handheld emulation market turning into the home tv console market xbox and sony, just look how unfriendly they have become towards consumers, have to pay to play online, not much innovation and totally closed systems

i still wouldnt reccomend the xu10 until it gets a better os. suggesting it before that seems like a big mistake imo. especially if people are buying it presuming that it will get os updates and improvements and then if they dont come.....

The locked firmware on the XU-10 is an absolute dealbreaker for me. The R36S with a wifi dongle gets my vote out of this list, every time.
I hate the X6 because the buttons look so dang delicious, like little jelly candies. And I just want to... just a quick taste...

Yesterday I ordered the Xu10 256gb edition and I'm hyped about playing it.

some good deals on some good devices lately, i bought the RG35XX for 34 euro shipped from ali.

It's a shame that the R36s doesn't have Wi-Fi. Was tempted to buy one, but I'm having second thoughts now.
U only need wifi if u care about retroachievements.
If u care about OTA, its really easy to update your firmware if you have a PC without needing wifi on the device.
@@mr.n476 It also helps with scraping artwork on the device itself, multiplayer/netplay, ftp and so on. It's not a huge deal, it's just disappointing.

theyre all the vertical gameboy style. Is gameboy style cheaper to make?
All these need comfort grips. Not sure how i could comfortably use the thumbsticks with my big hands.
