Damn...! Whenever we think of great guitarists, we're instantly drawn to people like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton or Kurt Cobain; we tend to rule out people like Nik kershaw: and my GOD if he isn't one of the 1980s' best guitar players - let's hear it for the Classic Kershaw! 👍👌🎸 Thanks for uploading this by the way! 👍👌❤
Kurt Cobain isn't even in my top 1000 of OK guitar players, let alone great players. Try Steve Lukater, Tony McAlpine, AL DiMeola, Paul Gilbert, Randy Rhoads.....the list just goes on and on.....and Cobain isn't on it. Cobain was an interesting songwriter and a mediocre guitarist at best.
Kurt Cobain a guitarist ?? What are you smoking dude. Guitarists of note are Randy Rhoads, Vito Bratta of White Lion, Vinnie Moore, Joe Satriani, Steve Stevens...and many more
Wow. He is amazing. Incredible guitarist. Brilliant song writer and gorgeous too. It's great that Nik is still performing and producing music. So talented. ❤🎵🎶🎸🎸🎸🎹🎹🎹👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🎸🎶🎵♥️♥️
I’ve admired Nik Kershaw’s songwriting for a long time. I think he is enormously underrated. But I had no idea that his lead guitar playing was so good too. If one of you kind souls could please time stamp all the different songs (I see a couple have been already), I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you for posting this video compilation!
The Cloak and Dagger solo is absolutely magic, and the solo on When a Heart Beats is like Robert Fripp or Graham Coxon or something. It infuriates me how no one I know takes him remotely seriously.
Just subbed because of this!! Thanks!! Loved him growing up, thought he was so handsome. I actually wrote a fan letter saying won’t him being married ruin his popularity? The wrote back and laughed and said no...😂
i liked what he was doing when he appeared maybe 84/85 catchy songs with interesting lyrics but something grabbed my ear, but i was about 15! Chord sequences, changes using different tunings! i was kinda into keyboards then switched to guitar, my dad played guitar then accordion! but seeing this footage was an eye opener great songs, great writing and AWESOME PLAYING! I heard the 1 and only an knew it was more than chesney, he might have sung it but that solo alone!
I like the term dueling! Because they aren’t playing together as much as they are filling out each other’s spaces. Dueling is a great word to describe it.
There's something about him that reminds me of Frank Zappa. There's always a surprise coming in the guitar work. The structure of his songs is unbelievably complex. For me, Nik is definitely better than people like Clapton whose clichés are entirely predictable.

Definitely one of my favourite guitarists. So few people realize just how good he is.
One of the best songwriters of the time, and still is.

You have to remember that then and now, he is an incredible lyricist.
Been enjoying this talented legend most of my life now ❤
I love his keyboard arrangements too! Extrodinary indeed.

It’s great he wrote back to you, if only a humorous response. It’s not something you’d expected to happen. He must have some true class;)
Incredible guitarist.
Look up "Wounded" the chord changes are insane!
Listen to the solo of “Roses”. So much melody and tragic in just one solo. Nik influenced me a lot when I grew up as a young guitar player.
I’m a guitarist of 49 years. I never new how talented this guy was/is. He could easily have been a straight instrumentalist.
Brilliant guitarist. Great musician!
WOW!!!!! What a talent. And still as cute as a button!!!
BEST ⭐⭐⭐♥️⚡⚡
Solo in Wouldn’t It Be Good is one of the best solos out of a pop song, Prince was a great guitarist to. Few artists fly under the radar.

3:15 I've always loved that dual (dueling?) solo on "Bogart"; it's not complete here but still... sooo choice

Hell yeah. Nice work Chris!
Under recognized pop genius. Up at the top.
Ridiculously good guitarist and song writer.
Exceptional!
Music to my ears XD Nik's the best

Does anyone know if he played the solo on one and only by chesney hawkes? That solo is incredible
Yes, Kershaw did actually play it. And, of course, you'll already know he wrote the song.
@@bryansimpson664 Thanks.
1:25: Whats the name of the Song?

Nik is great and chiefly influenced by the late Alan Murphy best known for his work with Go West.
How do u know he is an egoist ?
Not as much guit but harmonist and makin´ drum/back team.Nowadays drummers have no dynamic´s. Just hitting stupid time ain´t drummin`.
