It's better being in the know. I used to feel the same way you do about certain musicalns not getting credit due and the reasons why can always be contorted into the political and or racial.
All that BS is straight Garbage by no talent people wanting the piece of someone else's pie. "So and so never got the credit he deserved and died broke and it's a shame and I'm upset that I have to earn a living Talking about it".... Said the music critic or the dude with a frickin pod cast.
Eddie had all the fame, fortune and all that comes with it that he could possibly handle
      I'm guilty.

As i understand it, Eddie only played it this way once, in the studio for the album. All Eddie's subsequent performances of this song were improvised. Mike learned the studio version note for note and performed it live for the band from then on. Eddie was a brilliant artist. He was also a tortured soul and he had his vices. His vices were on the scale of his artistic ability, which unlike most of us, was legendary.

I've been a die-hard Eddie Hazel fan since I was little and took me a while to warm up to Michael Hampton. Now I truly appreciate him. An exceptional guitarist and brought metal into the P Funk.

I've never heard anyone on planet earth play guitar with that amount of feeling and subtlety.
Just grabs you and takes you away from your own shit! Incredible. Thank you.

That first note at 2:01is the most important part of the song, its like someone pleading for help or mercy and you are the only one who can help them, it draws you in and you can,t help but listen to them! So to all you cover guys you have to hit it right then the rest is a wrap!
