I am getting ready to tackle this. Do you have a list of everything you used? I am going to piece a kit together instead of spending for the MDL or CJ kit. Thanks
I should add that to the description. But you will want an 85 to 93 Foxbody T5, Bell housing, and 10.5" clutch. I also got the California pony cars T5 crossmember, a CJ pony parts separator plate (that put the starter in the wrong spot so i grinds and i had to clearance the plate to fix it) and you will new a 157 tooth 28oz. 10.5'' flywheel ( I found mine on summit racing Part Number: SUM-700088 ). I made the mistake of buying a 96 T5 and instead of a speedo gear it is a pulse sensor so now i have to change my speedo.
I also used a mustang Steve cable clutch kit and have since changed to Ron Morris adjustable motor mounts to help with driveshaft clearance. I bought the Cluster support plate and shim kit as well as the cast iron input shaft retainer from Hanlon motorsports. however if you are not over 325 ish WHP I wouldn't worry about it.
All in all It has cost me about 2k with a junkyard t5 and piecing the parts together.
I remember when I put a built up 327 in my 1966 Impala SS and added headers, before I hooked up the exhaust system, I drove it around the block ! Had a radical Mellings solid lifter cam in it
DAMN was that thing LOUD !
Built the engine on a 2x4 wood engine stand I made with wheels on it and assembled it in my mothers living room !
Then rolled it out to the front yard and installed it !
Good job Bryce, TELL IT to those other ''experts'' ! KMA !
Gotta love an impala ss. There is an old photo somewhere of a guy swapping an engine out in the street next to the mailbox.
@@brycebuildsit I LOVE IT, the old days. I worked at a grocery store while in HS and had NO problem buying so many new parts for my SS like Scheffer clutch, new pistons, cam, 2.02 heads, headers, slicks for back, etc - ALL ON A GROCERY STORE salary !
Remember in HS gas was 19 CENTS per gallon !
Could u do a video about servicing the trans fluid? I have an 06 bmw that im rebuilding and thrown some fluid in it after replacing the solenoids but im not sure if its enough fluid because it still feels sluggish. I am aware the t5 is a completely different transmission so it wouldnt be anything like mine but im just wondering how you would do it.
They are still probably somewhat similar. I pulled the top plug out and filled it with Mercron ATF per Ford's instructions until it was dripping out of the top fill hole. The hardest part was snaking a piece of tube down to it to fill it with the fluid.
