- Aircraft Mechanic Reviews Aircraft Maintenance Scenes from Movies | Fletch, Central Intelligence, Masters of The Air
In this video, I review aircraft maintenance scenes from popular movies, including *Fletch*, *Central Intelligence*, and *Masters of The Air*, from the perspective of an experienced aircraft mechanic. I'll dive into the accuracy (or lack thereof) of how these films portray aircraft repairs, maintenance, and overall aviation operations. Do Hollywood's interpretations hold up in real life, or are they full of mistakes? Tune in to find out as I break down these scenes and offer my critique on how the aviation world is portrayed on the big screen!

Not much comes to mind that's so specific to maintenance- The 1990's show Wings has Lowell as the GA mechanic, but he didn't really show anything worth mentioning. Air Force One and Passenger 57 had some technical scenes but reviewing those might take a VC-25 expert (not gonna talk about it) or a L1011 expert.
Even "Airport" Joe Patroni went quickly from maintenance/ground ops to being a pilot....
Maybe an A-Team or MacGyver episode?
Funny story- back in the early 2000's, when reality TV started and there was season 1 Survivor and Discovery was doing a segment on Jesse James building bikes, my co-worker and I thought of if we filmed the life of the aircraft mechanic... The A-hole boss, the type A who knows it all, the sheepish parts person, and us- just trying to work fast enough to make the boss money, but do it right-no mistakes, but have fun.... meh, we didn't follow thru. Coulda just said hawk tuah and made a million$$...😏
cool video, i think im gonna watch fletch now.
You should look at the scene in the movie Iron Eagle right before he flys the snake he talks about making his mixture so rich it is so wrong but still a good movie
Hi, what do you think, is it not too late for a 40-year-old car mechanic to learn to be an airplane mechanic?
I do not think it's too late if it's something you want to do. Plus, aviation will be considerably easier the automotive in my opinion.
No, I’m in school and there are multiple people in their 40s
I just came here to point out it’s all ball bearings these days
Indeed it is
I try not to watch the parts of movies that show any type of aircraft maintenance, or even most showing flying in general. For the most part, they are so badly done it's almost embarrasing given the producers could have come up with language and video that would have been so much more believable and true to the profession. If it's a comedy, then I'll let them slide. But in a movie with a serious storyline, it's all I can do to watch any of it.
Kinda like all the other clowns on YT that make believe they are aircraft mechanics. Hmmm, who might come to mind, RR???
